Abstract
The aim of this study was to perform a meticulous analysis and bibliometric evaluation of the top 100 most cited articles in vertical root fractures (VRFs). The bibliometric research method included 100 top-cited articles on VRFs retrieved from the Web of Science database. The key terms "vertical root fracture" OR "vertical root fractures" were used to retrieve the required dataset. The salient bibliometric indicators were analyzed. Microsoft Excel version 16 (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA), VOSviewer (v.1.6.10, Centre for Science and Technology Studies, Leiden University, The Netherlands), and the SPSS Statistics version 20 software (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY) were used for data analysis. The top 100 cited articles on VRFs were published between 1977 and 2022, and these articles were cited with an average of 69 citations. A slight rise (27%) in top-cited articles on VRFs was shown in the first half (1977-1999), but a substantial increase (73%) was recorded in the second half (2000-2022). The Journal of Endodontics published around half of the articles (n = 47). The United States contributed the most cited articles, followed by Brazil and Israel, whereas The Netherlands produced the most influential articles. The top-ranked author (Avaid Tames) and the university (Tel Aviv University) belonged to Israel. The most often occurring keywords were also analyzed to identify potential research subjects. There has been a notable increase in the number of highly cited publications (n = 52) about VRFs within the past 13 years (2010-2022). The United States stands out among the top countries due to its dominant overall research output. In the fields of endodontics, oral surgery, and restorative dentistry, this information would be helpful to researchers, practitioners, and academics.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to relate the file fragment length and location in the root canal to the retrieval chances, the clinical time required and the occurrence of secondary fractures. Materials and Methods Sixty clinical cases of fractured instruments were included in this study. They were classified according to the instrument length and the location of the root canal. In each group, the success rate in the instrument retrieval, the clinical time required and the occurrence of secondary fractures were evaluated. The collected data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test on the basis of a 0.05 significance level. Results The fragment length showed no significant influence on the assessed variables (p > 0.05). The root third where the instrument was located resulted in an increased clinical time, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). However, the procedure success rate and the occurrence of secondary fractures showed no association with these variables. Conclusions In accordance with the findings of this study, the fractured fragment length did not influence any of the variables assessed, but it is suggested to focus on the fragment location inside the root canal to decide the retrieval of a fractured instrument.

Abstract
Purpose To identify the 50 most highly cited research publications in the sport of basketball. Methods Using the Clarivate Analytics Web of Knowledge database and the search term “basketball”, we identified 2,704 articles. These articles were filtered by the total number of citations and the top 50 most cited articles with a central focus on basketball were selected for this analysis. For each article, we further identified and analyzed author name, publication year, country of origin, journal name, article type, main research topic area, competitive level, gender of study population, and the level of evidence. Results Medicine-related topics, particularly those involving knee injuries, are more common than nonmedical topics (coaching, sports psychology etc.) among the highest cited articles. Articles originated from 13 different countries, with 48% originating in the United States. Only four authors had more than one article included in the top 50 most cited articles. Conclusion A majority of the top 50 research articles were from English-speaking countries, published after 2000, primarily focused on medicine-related topics, and were Level III evidence. Publications examining knee injuries were the most highly cited and appear to be of high interest to current investigators. The prestige of an author’s name appeared to be less influential to the number of citations. Clinical Relevance The top 50 most cited articles list will provide researchers, medical students, residents, and fellows with a foundational list of the most important and influential academic contributions to the basketball literature.

Abstract
AIM To identify the top 100 most-cited case reports and case series published in Endodontic journals and to analyse their bibliometric characteristics. METHODOLOGY The Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science (WoS), Scopus and PubMed databases were used to identify the top 100 most-cited case reports and case series in Endodontic journals. Complete bibliographic records of the selected case reports and case series were exported in plain text or BibTeX format and imported into the R environment for statistical computing and graphics. The following parameters were then analysed: names and affiliations of the authors, title, year of publication, journal of publication, first author, corresponding author, literature cited within reports, language, citation counts, impact factor of the journal, keywords, Keywords Plus and research topic. RESULTS In total, 88 case reports and 12 case series published in English between 1977 and 2016 were identified as the most-cited reports in the field of Endodontics. The terms "case report(s)" or "case series" were not included in the title of 57 articles. The number of authors per report ranged from one to seven, with the average number of co-authors per report being 3.14. The most-cited author was M Trope (University of Pennsylvania, USA). The University of Washington and Private Practice, Cetraro, Italy, were the most productive institutions. The country whose case reports received the largest total number of citations was the United States. The largest number of the most-cited reports appeared in 2002, 2004 and 2007 (n = 7, respectively). According to the WoS database, the total number of citations ranged from 42 to 453, with the average number of citations per report being 79.97. The majority of the top 100 most-cited articles were published in the Journal of Endodontics and the International Endodontic Journal. The most frequently used author keywords were revascularization and mineral trioxide aggregate. The majority of the case reports and case series dealt with topics related to pulp regeneration. CONCLUSION This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive overview on the progress, trends and current directions in clinical practice within the field of Endodontics.

Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to analyze the main features of the 25 most-cited articles in minimally invasive access cavities. Materials and Methods An electronic search was conducted on the Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science ‘All Databases’ to identify the most-cited articles related to this topic. Citation counts were cross-matched with data from Elsevier's Scopus and Google Scholar. Information about authors, contributing institutions and countries, year and journal of publication, study design and topic, access cavity, and keywords were analyzed. Results The top 25 most-cited articles received a total of 572 (Web of Science), 1,160 (Google Scholar) and 631 (Scopus) citations. It was observed a positive significant association between the number of citations and age of publication (r = 0.6907, p < 0.0001); however, there was no significant association regarding citation density and age of publication (r = −0.2631, p = 0.2038). The Journal of Endodontics made the highest contribution (n = 15, 60%). The United States had the largest number of publications (n = 7) followed by Brazil (n = 4), with the most contributions from the University of Tennessee and Grande Rio University (n = 3), respectively. The highest number of most-cited articles were ex vivo studies (n = 16), and ‘fracture resistance’ was the major topic studied (n = 10). Conclusions This study revealed a growing interest for researchers in the field of minimally invasive access cavities. Future trends are focused on the expansion of collaborative networks and the conduction of laboratory studies on under-investigated parameters.

Abstract
AIM To conduct a bibliographic analysis of the research studies published in Endodontics using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) as an analytical tool over a 25-year period. METHODOLOGY The Web of Science electronic database was accessed, and an advanced search using strict criteria was undertaken from January 1995 to June 2020 for studies in the field of Endodontics that used micro-CT as an analytical tool. A further search was conducted between January and August of 2020 for a combination of specific terms and descriptors. For each selected article, the following parameters were recorded: field of the study, analysed specimen, publication title and year, authorship, journal of publication, institution and country of origin, collaborating institutions and countries, and number of citations. The acquired data were analysed using descriptive statistics and graphical mappings. RESULTS The screening process identified 877 relevant articles that were classified into 30 thematic categories. The main fields of research were root canal preparation (23.8%), root canal anatomy (17.4%), canal filling (9.2%) and root canal retreatment (7.0%). The most productive half-decade comprised the period of 2015-2019 (n = 513; 58.5%), with the highest number of articles published in 2019 (n = 146; 16.6%). The authors who lead the list as first authors were G De-Deus, A Keleş, F Paqué, MA Versiani and Y Gu, respectively, whilst Versiani was the most productive (n = 51). The leading countries regarding the number of studies were Brazil, China and Turkey with 236, 130 and 65 publications, respectively. The University of São Paulo (n = 90; 10.3%) followed by Wuhan University (n = 37; 4.2%) and the University of Zurich (n = 18; 2.1%) were the prominent contributors by producing the largest number of articles, whilst the University of Zurich was the most-cited institution. The selected studies were published in 140 scientific journals, but the Journal of Endodontics and International Endodontic Journal accounted for almost 50% of the publications. CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis portrayed an original and comprehensive view on the progress and trends of the use of micro-CT technology in endodontic research, and enabled a deep understanding of the development process in this field over the last 25 years.
