Abstract
PURPOSE Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) improves clinical outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease (CDV). Patients with CVD often have multiple comorbidities, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), potentially affecting their ability to participate and achieve functional improvement during CR. We aimed to test the hypothesis that OSA reduces peak exercise capacity (EC) in patients undergoing CR and to explore if OSA treatment modifies this relationship. METHODS Data from a retrospective cohort of CR patients was analyzed. OSA was defined as a respiratory event index > 5/h or physician diagnosis. Patients with OSA were considered "treated" if using continuous positive airway pressure regularly during the CR period. Change in METs was the primary study outcome. RESULTS Among 312 CR patients, median age of 67 years, 103 (33%) had known OSA (30 treated, 73 untreated). Patients with OSA vs. those with no OSA were more likely to be obese and male; otherwise, groups were similar. Compared with the no OSA group, patients with OSA had lower pre-CR METs (3.3 [2.9-4.5] vs. 3.9 [3.1-5], P = .01) and lower post-CR METs (5.3 [4-7] vs. 6 [4.6-7.6], P = .04), but achieved a similar increase in METs post-CR (1.8 [0.6-2.6] vs. 2.0 [0.9-3], P = .22). Furthermore, compared to no OSA, pre-CR and post-CR METs tended to be similar in patients with treated OSA, but lower in untreated patients, with similar increases in METs across all groups, even when adjusting for covariates via multivariable regression. CONCLUSION OSA is prevalent in patients with CVD undergoing CR. CR substantially improves exercise capacity independent of OSA status, but screening for-and treatment of-OSA may improve the absolute exercise capacity achieved through CR.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this review was to summarize literature examining the prevalence, impact, and trajectories of sleep disturbance in cardiac rehabilitation (CR) patients and discuss how CR programs may incorporate targeted evaluation and interventions to promote sleep health. REVIEW METHODS A narrative review of literature allowed for an examination of the prevalence of sleep disturbance in CR patients, the effects of sleep disturbance on CR outcomes, and trajectories of sleep disturbance in CR. SUMMARY Sleep disturbance is prevalent in CR patient populations and is related to clinical and functional outcomes. Sleep may be an important biobehavioral process to target in CR to improve important patient outcomes and achieve secondary prevention goals.

Effect of Sleep Intervention Programs during Cardiac Rehabilitation on the Sleep Quality of Heart Patients. SLEEP DISORDERS 2022; 2022:8269799. Abstract
Materials and Methods In this quasi-experimental study with unequal control group design, 35 individuals participated in the cardiac rehabilitation program as the experimental group and 35 served as the control group. The program included 12 weeks of exercise, 3 sessions per week, 3 sessions of training programs each lasting for 45 minutes, and a special two-session sleep improvement program. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and analysed with descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Results There were not any significant differences between the two groups in age, sex, marital status, smoking, and indication for cardiac rehabilitation (P > 0.05). The scores of sleep quality of patients were 9.2 ± 1.58 before and 4.40 ± 1.14 after intervention in the experimental group and 9.02 ± 2.56 before and 7.48 ± 1.86 after intervention in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups before intervention (P = 0.73). yet there was a significant difference after intervention (P = 0.0001). In addition, scores of sleep quality of patients were significantly different in the experimental and control groups before and after intervention (P = 0.0001). Conclusion Findings indicated that the quality of sleep of cardiac patients improved after the sleep intervention program during the cardiac rehabilitation program. Therefore, it is suggested to implement sleep improvement programs for cardiac patient care as an effective, easy, and feasible technique. In addition, it is necessary to pay more attention to the sleep improvement program in cardiac rehabilitation. Trial Registration. Abstract
The Scientific Investigation Committee of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry offers this review of the 2020 professional literature in restorative dentistry to inform busy dentists regarding noteworthy scientific and clinical progress over the past year. Each member of the committee brings discipline-specific expertise to this work to cover this broad topic. Specific subject areas addressed include prosthodontics; periodontics, alveolar bone, and peri-implant tissues; implant dentistry; dental materials and therapeutics; occlusion and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs); sleep-related breathing disorders; oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery; and dental caries and cariology. The authors focused their efforts on reporting information likely to influence day-to-day dental treatment decisions with a keen eye on future trends in the profession. With the tremendous volume of dentistry and related literature being published today, this review cannot possibly be comprehensive. The purpose is to update interested readers and provide important resource material for those interested in pursuing greater detail. It remains our intent to assist colleagues in navigating the extensive volume of important information being published annually. It is our hope that readers find this work useful in successfully managing the dental patients they encounter.

Abstract
Background: Central sleep apnea (CSA) is common among patients with heart failure and has been strongly linked to adverse outcomes. However, progress toward improving outcomes for such patients has been limited. The purpose of this official statement from the American Thoracic Society is to identify key areas to prioritize for future research regarding CSA in heart failure. Methods: An international multidisciplinary group with expertise in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, heart failure, clinical research, and health outcomes was convened. The group met at the American Thoracic Society 2019 International Conference to determine research priority areas. A statement summarizing the findings of the group was subsequently authored using input from all members. Results: The workgroup identified 11 specific research priorities in several key areas: 1) control of breathing and pathophysiology leading to CSA, 2) variability across individuals and over time, 3) techniques to examine CSA pathogenesis and outcomes, 4) impact of device and pharmacological treatment, and 5) implementing CSA treatment for all individuals Conclusions: Advancing care for patients with CSA in the context of heart failure will require progress in the arenas of translational (basic through clinical), epidemiological, and patient-centered outcome research. Given the increasing prevalence of heart failure and its associated substantial burden to individuals, society, and the healthcare system, targeted research to improve knowledge of CSA pathogenesis and treatment is a priority.

Abstract
The occurrence and development of atherosclerosis could be influenced by intermittent hypoxia. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), characterized by intermittent hypoxia, is world-wide prevalence with increasing morbidity and mortality rates. Researches remain focused on the study of its mechanism and improvement of diagnosis and treatment. However, the underlying mechanism is complex, and the best practice for OSA diagnosis and treatment considering atherosclerosis and related cardiovascular diseases is still debatable. In this review, we provided an update on research in OSA in the last 5 years with regard to atherosclerosis. The processes of inflammation, oxidative stress, autonomic nervous system activation, vascular dysfunction, platelet activation, metabolite dysfunction, small molecule RNA regulation, and the cardioprotective occurrence was discussed. Additionally, improved diagnosis such as, the utilized of portable device, and treatment especially with inconsistent results in continuous positive airway pressure and mandibular advancement devices were illustrated in detail. Therefore, further fundamental and clinical research should be carried out for a better understanding the deep interaction between OSA and atherosclerosis, as well as the suggestion of newer diagnostic and treatment options.
