Abstract
BACKGROUND Fibromyalgia-one of the chronic pain syndromes-characterised by pain, fatigue, and tenderness. The role of certain micronutrients like vitamin D, vitamin B12, and ferritin has been previously investigated in many primary studies aiming to assess both their therapeutic and diagnostic potential in the management of fibromyalgia. AIM To compare the levels of vitamin D, ferritin, and vitamin B12 between fibromyalgia patients and healthy controls. METHODS Our study protocol was registered prospectively on PROSPERO (CRD42024585826) and was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Literature search, article screening, and data collection were conducted by two independent investigators. The mean difference along with its 95% confidence interval for each of the three outcomes was pooled under a random effects model. RESULTS Twenty-five studies were included in the final analysis; 22 reported vitamin D levels, 5 reported ferritin levels, and 3 reported vitamin B12 levels. Generally, fibromyalgia patients had lower vitamin D and ferritin levels compared with healthy controls (MD = -3.86, 95% CI [-6.99; -0.73] and -14.78, [-18.95; -10.62], respectively). Vitamin B12 showed no difference between the two groups (-20.70 [-51.57; 10.16]). CONCLUSION Vitamin D and ferritin levels were found to be lower in patients with fibromyalgia. Whether vitamin D supplementation improves fibromyalgia symptoms remains under debate. However, we recommend both routine empirical supplementation of vitamin D along with ferritin level testing in all patients. Further studies are needed to confirm whether lower ferritin and vitamin B12 levels contribute to fibromyalgia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This protocol was developed to describe the design of a randomised controlled trial that will examine the clinical efficacy of a 6-week, novel, home-based stretching programme compared with usual care on the effect of symptoms experienced by patients with fibromyalgia. The hypothesis is that the total score of the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ-R) and other fibromyalgia symptoms will improve 6 weeks following the stretching intervention compared with usual care. METHODS Fifty-eight adults under 65 years of age diagnosed with fibromyalgia will be recruited for this study. Participants will be randomised into an intervention group and a control group (waitlist). Randomisation will be stratified by sex. The intervention group will perform 6 weeks of daily stretching exercises for 6 min-a day. The control group will maintain usual care. A mHealth app will support stretching adherence. The primary outcome will be the total score of the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ-R). The secondary outcomes include regional and widespread pain sensitivity, range of motion, quality of life (SF-36), mental and physical functioning and adherence. Evaluations will be performed at baseline, following 6 weeks of daily stretches (primary endpoint) and 6 months after the termination of the intervention period (secondary endpoint). DISCUSSION By investigating the clinical efficacy of a 6-week, novel, home-based stretching programme, we hope to provide applicable and generalisable knowledge about the efficacy of stretching exercises that can potentially help ease the burden of symptoms experienced by patients with fibromyalgia. Abstract
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a complex, chronic pain syndrome characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and cognitive disturbances. Despite its prevalence, the pathophysiology of FM remains poorly understood, with current treatments often providing limited relief. Recent studies have suggested that metformin, a widely used antidiabetic drug, may have potential therapeutic benefits for chronic pain conditions, including FM. This review aims to provide current insights into the role of metformin in FM pathophysiology, focusing on its neurotransmitter-modulating and anti-inflammatory effects. Metformin has been shown to mitigate neuroinflammation, protect neural tissues, and modulate key neurotransmitters involved in pain and mood regulation. These effects are particularly evident in animal models, where metformin has been observed to reduce pain sensitivity, improve mood-related behaviors, and decrease levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin 1-beta (IL-1β). Additionally, the ability of metformin to influence serotonin, norepinephrine, and glutamate levels suggests a potential mechanism for its analgesic and mood-stabilizing effects. However, the current evidence is largely preclinical, and further research is needed to confirm these findings in human studies. This review aims to encourage researchers to explore the association between metformin and FM more deeply, with the hope of uncovering new therapeutic strategies that could offer relief to FM patients.

Abstract
People with fibromyalgia (FM) exhibit alterations in brain electrical activity and autonomic modulation compared to healthy individuals. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) effects on brain electrocortical activity and heart rate variability (HRV), specifically targeting the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in both healthy controls (HC) and FM groups, to identify potential differences in the responses between these groups, and to compare the effectiveness of two distinct tDCS intensities (1 mA and 2 mA) against a sham condition. Methods: Electroencephalography and electrocardiogram signals were recorded pre- and post-tDCS intervention. All participants underwent the three conditions (sham, 1 mA, and 2 mA) over three separate weeks, randomized in order. Results: No statistically significant baseline differences were found in the investigated HRV variables. In the FM group, 1 mA tDCS induced significant increases in LF, LF/HF, mean HR, SDNN, RMSSD, total power, SD1, SD2, and SampEn, and a decrease in HF, suggesting a shift toward sympathetic dominance. Additionally, 2 mA significantly increased SampEn compared to sham and 1 mA. In the HC group, sham increased DFA1 compared to 1 mA, and 2 mA induced smaller changes in SampEn relative to sham and 1 mA. No significant differences were found between FM and HC groups for any tDCS intensity. Conclusions: The effects of dlPFC-tDCS on HRV are intensity- and group-dependent, with the FM group exhibiting more pronounced changes at 1 mA and 2 mA. These findings emphasize the need for individualized stimulation protocols, given the variability in responses across groups and intensities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The multifaceted nature of Fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) symptoms has been explored through clusters analysis. OBJECTIVE To synthesize the cluster research on FM (variables, methods, patient subgroups, and evaluation metrics). METHODS We performed a systematic review following the PRISMA recommendations. Independent searches were performed on PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central, employing the terms "fibromyalgia" and "cluster analysis". We included studies dated to January 2024, using the cluster analysis to assess any physical, psychological, clinical, or biomedical variables in FM subjects, and descriptively synthesized the studies in terms of design, cluster method, and resulting patient profiles. RESULTS We included 39 studies. Most with a cross-sectional design aiming to classify subsets based on the severity, adjustment, symptomatic manifestations, psychological profiles, and response to treatment, based on demographic and clinical variables. Two to four different profiles were found according to the levels of severity and adjustment to FMS. According to symptom manifestation, two to three clusters described the predominance of pain versus fatigue, and thermal pain sensitivity (less versus more sensitive). Other clusters revealed profiles of personality (pathological versus non-pathological) and psychological vulnerability (suicidal ideation). Additionally, studies identified different responses to treatment (pharmacological and multimodal). CONCLUSION Several profiles exist within FMS population, which point out to the need for specific treatment options given the different profiles and an efficient allocation of healthcare resources. We notice a need towards more objective measures, and the validation of the cluster results. Further research might investigate some of the assumptions of these findings, which are further discussed in this paper.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Fibromyalgia (FM) is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by chronic widespread pain, fatigue, sleep and cognitive impairment and functional symptoms. The aim of this study was to assess disability and its associated factors. The study was conducted among 691 patients with fibromyalgia in Poland using an online survey. MATERIAL AND METHODS This was a cross-sectional study of the disability of patients with fibromyalgia aged 18 years and over in Poland. The study was conducted by means of an online questionnaire distributed to patients affiliated with the National Association of Patients with Fibromyalgia. A total of 691 records were analyzed. The World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) 36-item version was used to assess disability. The Beck Depression Inventory was used to assess the participants' emotional state. Sociodemographic and selected health data were collected. RESULTS The study group had a significant general level of disability as measured by the WHODAS 2.0 (mean=49.69). The greatest limitations were found in the following areas: life activity (mean=73.43), social participation (mean=64.59), and mobility (mean=62.07). The categorical sociodemographic variables that statistically significantly differentiated the participants in terms of general level of disability were occupational status (P<0.005), pain level (P<0.001), number of medications taken (P=0.005), and level of depression (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Disability is present in fibromyalgia and is a major concern. Understanding the determinants of disability in fibromyalgia can contribute to the development of effective therapies and symptom relief.

Abstract
Objective To analyze the perceived benefits and limitations of a pain psychoeducation program as a non-pharmacological treatment for patients with fibromyalgia. Methods An interpretative phenomenological analysis was applied to analyze the subjective experiences of 11 patients with fibromyalgia who participated in a pain psychoeducation program. This program includes educational sessions that address pain understanding, coping strategies, and relaxation techniques. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, transcribed, and analyzed using ATLAS.ti software. Results Patients reported significant improvements in cognitive-functional capacity and socio-emotional ability, including better disease understanding and management, emotional stability, and interpersonal relationships. Despite these benefits, they identified limitations in program individualization and insufficient coverage of certain topics, such as sexual health and legal aspects of disability. Enhanced self-management skills were evident, with observed shifts in disease perception and coping strategies. Conclusion The psychoeducation program was viewed positively, influencing functional, cognitive, and emotional enhancements. Nonetheless, the need for increased program personalization and expanded socio-economic support was noted. Future research should focus on the long-term impacts of psychoeducation and the feasibility of tailored interventions.

Abstract
Aim To develop an eHealth resource to support fibromyalgia patients and explore it for usability and impact on their self-management and self-efficacy. Background Fibromyalgia is a complex, non-progressive chronic condition characterised by a bewildering array of symptoms for patients to self-manage. International guidelines recommend patients receive illness-specific information once diagnosed to promote self-management and improve health-related quality of life. Design A 3-phase mixed methods exploratory sequential design. Methods Qualitative interviews explored the information and self-management needs of fibromyalgia patients attending a large tertiary hospital in Dublin. Identified themes together with an extensive review of the literature of interventions proven to be impactful by patients with fibromyalgia were utilised in the design and development of the eHealth resource. The resource was tested for usability and impact using pre and post-intervention outcomes measures. Results Patient interviews highlighted a lack of easy accessible evidenced information to support self-management implicating the urgent need for a practical solution through development of a tailored eHealth resource. Six themes emerged for inclusion; illness knowledge, primary symptoms, treatment options, self-management strategies, practical support and reliable resources. Forty-five patients who tested the site for usability and impact demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in self-efficacy after 4 weeks access with a medium positive effect size. Patients with the most severe fibromyalgia impact scores pre-intervention demonstrated the most improvement after 4 weeks. Patients gave the resource a System Usability Score A rating, highly recommending it for fellow patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Conclusions The study demonstrated how the development of a novel eHealth resource positively impacted fibromyalgia patients' self-efficacy to cope with this debilitating condition. Impact This study suggests that access to eHealth can positively impact patients self-efficacy, has the potential to be a template for eHealth development in other chronic conditions, supporting advanced nurse practitioners working in chronic disease management.

Abstract
Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a common condition in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate differences in sleep monitoring indicators between patients with OSAHS and positive FM and patients with OSAHS and negative FM and to determine the incidence of FM in patients with OSAHS. Methods: An exhaustive literature review was conducted to analyze the incidence of FM in patients with OSAHS, using online databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, CNKI, and Wanfang, both in English and Chinese. The quality of the included studies was assessed by two researchers using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale scores. The acquired data were analyzed using Stata 11.0 software. Continuous variables were combined and analyzed using the weighted mean difference as the effect size. Conjoint analyses were performed using random-effects (I2 > 50%) or fixed-effect (I2 ≤ 50%) models based on I2 values. Results: Fourteen studies met the inclusion criteria. This study showed that 21% of patients with OSAHS experienced FM. Subgroup analyses were performed based on race, age, sex, body mass index, and diagnostic criteria for patients with OSAHS. These findings indicate that obese patients with OSAHS have a higher risk of FM, similar to females with OSAHS. Regarding most sleep monitoring indicators, there were no discernible differences between patients with OSAHS with positive FM and those with negative FM. However, patients with positive FM had marginally lower minimum arterial oxygen saturation levels than those with negative FM. The current literature suggests that patients with OSAHS have a high incidence of FM (21%), and FM has little effect on polysomnographic indicators of OSAHS. Abstract
Fibromyalgia is a soft tissue rheumatism with significant qualitative and quantitative impact on sleep macro and micro architecture. The primary objective of this study is to analyze and identify automatically healthy individuals and those with fibromyalgia using sleep electroencephalography (EEG) signals. The study focused on the automatic detection and interpretation of EEG signals obtained from fibromyalgia patients. In this work, the sleep EEG signals are divided into 15-s and a total of 5358 (3411 healthy control and 1947 fibromyalgia) EEG segments are obtained from 16 fibromyalgia and 16 normal subjects. Our developed model has advanced multilevel feature extraction architecture and hence, we used a new feature extractor called GluPat, inspired by the glucose chemical, with a new pooling approach inspired by the D'hondt selection system. Furthermore, our proposed method incorporated feature selection techniques using iterative neighborhood component analysis and iterative Chi2 methods. These selection mechanisms enabled the identification of discriminative features for accurate classification. In the classification phase, we employed a support vector machine and k-nearest neighbor algorithms to classify the EEG signals with leave-one-record-out (LORO) and tenfold cross-validation (CV) techniques. All results are calculated channel-wise and iterative majority voting is used to obtain generalized results. The best results were determined using the greedy algorithm. The developed model achieved a detection accuracy of 100% and 91.83% with a tenfold and LORO CV strategies, respectively using sleep stage (2 + 3) EEG signals. Our generated model is simple and has linear time complexity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Fibromyalgia is a complex illness to diagnose and treat. OBJECTIVES To evaluate a broad range of circulating free amino acid (AA) levels in fibromyalgia patients as well as the ability of the AAs to differentiate fibromyalgia patients from healthy subjects. DESIGN We carried out a case-control study to evaluate AA levels in 62 patients with fibromyalgia and 78 healthy subjects. This study adheres to the STROBE guidelines. METHODS AAs content was assayed by HPLC in serum samples. The predictive value of AA levels in fibromyalgia was determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and forward binary logistic regression analyses. RESULTS Fibromyalgia patients showed higher serum levels of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, aminoadipic acid, asparagine, histidine, 3-methyl-histidine, 5-methyl-histidine, glycine, threonine, taurine, tyrosine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, leucine, ornithine, lysine, branched chain AAs (BCAAs), large neutral AAs, essential AAs (EAAs), non-essential AAs (NEAAs), basic AAs, EAAs/NEAAs ratio, phenylalanine/tyrosine ratio, and global arginine bioavailability ratio than the controls. Serum alanine levels were lower in patients than in controls. According to ROC analysis, most of these AAs may be good markers for differentiating individuals with fibromyalgia from healthy subjects. Results of logistic regression showed that the combination of glutamic acid, histidine, and alanine had the greatest predictive ability to diagnose fibromyalgia. CONCLUSIONS Our results show an imbalance in serum levels of most AAs in patients with fibromyalgia, which suggest a metabolic disturbance. The determination of serum levels of these AAs may aid in the diagnosis of fibromyalgia, in combination with clinical data of the patient.

Abstract
This review aims to increase awareness and improve understanding, diagnosis, and management of fibromyalgia - a complex, distressing health challenge that significantly impacts people's lives due to its variable nature and lack of clear diagnostic markers. Healthcare professionals must assist those with this condition and improve their general quality of life. Further, they can do a lot to improve the lives of people with Fibromyalgia by resolving diagnostic hurdles, promoting collaboration, supporting patient advocacy, advancing medical technology, and adopting novel approaches.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Opioids (except for tramadol) have not been shown to be effective in patients with fibromyalgia, but they can increase the risk of adverse drug reactions. The aim was to determine the treatment patterns of a group of patients with fibromyalgia and to identify the factors associated with the use of opioids in Colombia. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study of a group of patients with fibromyalgia from a pain clinic in Colombia. Sociodemographic, clinical and pharmacological variables were identified. Descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were performed. RESULTS A total of 559 patients were analysed, 88.6% of whom were women, and the mean age was 53.4 ± 12.6 years. A total of 40.6% received nonpharmacological management, and the majority were treated with acetaminophen (96.1%) and pregabalin (62.8%). A total of 69.6% received opioids, the most common of which was hydrocodone (36.3%). The average morphine equivalent milligrammes was 36.9 ± 91.2 (range: 2.3-750 mg), and 43.8% had intermediate/high doses. Being male (OR: 3.12; 95% CI: 1.40-6.91), having arterial hypertension (OR: 1.67; 95% CI: 1.04-2.69), obesity (OR: 2.23; 95% CI: 1.18-4.24), degenerative disease of vertebral discs (OR: 2.32; 95% CI: 1.10-4.88) and comedication with gabapentinoids (OR: 1.75; 95% CI: 1,15-2.65) were associated with a higher probability of receiving opioids, while patients treated with muscle relaxants had a lower risk of opioid treatment (OR: 0.64; 95% CI: 0.41-0.98). CONCLUSIONS A significant proportion of patients were treated with opioids, the most common of which was hydrocodone, which goes against the recommendations of clinical practice guidelines.

Abstract
Cervical joint position sense (JPS) and postural stability are vital to maintaining balance and preventing falls in fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). Impaired cervical JPS may influence postural stability, and understanding the relationship between them can aid in formulating treatment strategies in individuals with FMS. This study aims to (1) assess cervical JPS and postural stability between FMS and control group and (2) determine the correlation between cervical JPS and postural stability in the FMS group. This cross-sectional study recruited 92 FMS patients (mean age: 51.52 ± 7.7 yrs.) and 92 healthy controls (mean age: 49.36 ± 6.9 yrs.). A cervical range of motion (CROM) unit was utilized to assess cervical JPS. The postural stability was assessed using an IsoFree force platform, and anterior-posterior (A/P) and medial-lateral (M/L) directions of sway and ellipse area were measured. Cervical JPS and postural stability tests were assessed and compared between FMS and control groups. Cervical JPS was significantly impaired in FMS compared to the control group (p < 0.001). The JPS errors in FMS group were larger in flexion (FMS = 5.5°, control = 2.4°), extension (FMS = 6.4°, control = 3.0°), and rotation in left (FMS = 5.4°, control = 2.2°) and right directions (FMS = 5.1°, control = 2.8°). FMS individuals demonstrated statistically significant impaired postural stability compared to control in both the dominant and non-dominant legs tested (p < 0.001). The cervical JPS test showed moderate to strong positive correlations with postural stability variables. Statistically significant correlations were observed in all the JPS directions tested with all the postural stability variables (A/P and M/L sway and ellipse area). The correlation coefficients ranged between r = 0.37 (moderate) to 0.75 (strong). Cervical JPS and postural stability are impaired in FMS individuals. A moderate to strong relationship existed between JPS and postural stability. Individuals with FMS who had a greater magnitude of cervical JPS errors exhibited more severe postural control deficits. Therefore, cervical JPS and postural stability tests should be incorporated into routine clinical practice when assessing or formulating treatment strategies for patients with FMS.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Fibromyalgia are heterogeneous and differ from patient to patient; however, the most reported are general myalgia and at specific points associated with fatigue and certain psychological adversities. Physical activity can mitigate the effects of the symptoms. However, the associations between fibromyalgia-related fatigue, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, satisfaction with life and physical activity are unclear. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to understand the associations between these symptoms and whether there are differences between these associations across two distinct cultures. Materials and Methods: A total of 473 women aged between 28 and 75 years (M = 49.27; SD ± 8.28) completed five questionnaires about fibromyalgia-related fatigue, physical activity, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life. Results: Fibromyalgia-related fatigue was positively associated with depression and anxiety, depression and anxiety were negatively associated with self-esteem, self-esteem was positively associated with satisfaction with life, satisfaction with life was positively associated with physical activity and there were no differences in terms of the perceptions and associations of these variables between Portuguese and Brazilian patients. Conclusions: Our results showed the significant role of associations between these variables and a similarity in the perception and relationship of the variables between the two cultures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Given the role of vitamin B6 on pronociceptive/antinociceptive neurotransmitters balance, metabolic reactions, and inflammation, it is important to clarify the effect of vitamin B6 on pain and psychological disturbance in fibromyalgia (FM). This study aimed to evaluate whether an 80-mg daily dose of vitamin B6 improves pain, disease severity and psychological symptoms of FM compared to a placebo. METHODS This randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial was performed on the FM patients whose diagnosis was confirmed by a rheumatologist based on the 2016 American College of Rheumatology (ACR). 90 Patients were randomized to receive either vitamin B6 (80 mg daily) or placebo in a 1:1 ratio, with a permuted block size of 30 stratified by disease severity. Primary outcomes included the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQR), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), 12-item short-form health survey (SF-12), and pain visual analog scale (pain-VAS)). The mean differences in outcomes (before and after treatment) were compared between the vitamin B6 and placebo groups using an independent T-test. An ANCOVA model adjusted for baseline outcome value was also provided to compare the outcomes between the two groups. RESULTS Of 90 eligible patients, 60 patients (31 patients in vitamin B6 and 29 in the placebo group) completed the trial. Overall, the FIQR, pain-VAS, and HADS-anxiety scores improved after treatment in both vitamin B6 and placebo groups; However, there was no statistically significant intergroup difference regarding primary outcomes. ANCOVA model also showed no difference in the treatment effects. CONCLUSIONS Our results showed no priority for vitamin B6 over placebo in FM patients. Considering the potential ameliorating role of vitamin B6 on pain and psychological symptoms, acknowledgment of vitamin B6 as a relatively safe adjuvant treatment needs larger future studies. Abstract
Background: Fibromyalgia is a clinical condition that affects 1% to 5% of the population. No proper therapy has been currently found. It has been described that inflammation plays a central role in the nerve sensitizations that characterize the pathology. Methods: This paper aimed to evaluate the efficacy of etanercept and infliximab in the management of pain sensitization. Fibromyalgia was induced by three injections once a day of reserpine at the dose of 1 mg/kg. Etanercept (3 mg/kg) and infliximab (10 mg/kg) were administered the day after the last reserpine injection and then 5 days after that. Behavioral analyses were conducted once a week, and molecular investigations were performed at the end of the experiment. Results: Our data confirmed the major effect of infliximab administration as compared to etanercept: infliximab administration strongly reduced pain sensitization in thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia. From the molecular point of view, infliximab reduced the activation of microglia and astrocytes and the expression of the purinergic P2X7 receptor ubiquitously expressed on glia and neurons. Downstream of the P2X7 receptor, infliximab also reduced p38-MAPK overexpression induced by the reserpine administration. Conclusion: Etanercept and infliximab treatment caused a significant reduction in pain. In particular, rats that received infliximab showed less pain sensitization. Moreover, infliximab reduced the activation of microglia and astrocytes, reducing the expression of the purinergic receptor P2X7 and p38-MAPK pathway.

Abstract
The symptoms of fibromyalgia are varied, including general muscle pain and pain at specific points (also called tender points), excessive fatigue, anxiety, depression, and some psychological problems that can have a negative impact on quality of life. Physical activity is a widely used option by health professionals to alleviate the effects of this syndrome. However, there is no clear information on the possible mediating role of physical activity in the relationship between fibromyalgia-related fatigue and quality of life. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the relationship between fibromyalgia-related fatigue and quality of life, and to investigate the mediating role of physical activity in patients with this syndrome. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 237 Portuguese women aged 28 to 75 years (M = 49.12; SD ± 8.87) and 117 Brazilian women aged 20 to 69 years (M = 46.72; SD ± 8.38) were recruited to participate in this study. These patients completed three valid and reliable questionnaires related to the assessment of fibromyalgia-related fatigue (MDF-Fibro-17), physical activity (IPAQ), and quality of life (SF-36). Results: Both samples had scores above the midpoint for all dimensions of fibromyalgia-related fatigue and scores below the midpoint for quality of life. Physical activity had no mediating effect in either sample, as the total indirect effect was not significant. Conclusions: Physical activity does not mediate the relationship between fatigue and quality of life. However, the results also show that the fatigue dimensions associated with fibromyalgia had a negative and significant association with physical and mental health indicators in both samples. Thus, patients with FM with higher scores on fatigue-related symptoms might suffer more from physical and mental health, both of which are related to quality of life.
