Abstract
Objectives: Dysphagia is common in idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD) and is associated with impairments in both swallowing safety and swallowing efficiency. The goals of this study were to define post-swallow residue patterns in people with IPD and describe pathophysiological endoscopic findings affecting residue accumulation. Methods: This was a prospective single-blinded cross-sectional cohort study of patients with the diagnosis of IPD recruited from a Movement Disorder Clinic. Clinical variables included patient age, cognitive function, and measures of disease severity, and laryngoscopic examinations with a flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) were completed for each patient. Visual Analysis of Swallowing Efficiency and Safety (VASES) was used to analyze FEES. Post-swallow residue outcomes and non-residue endoscopic outcomes including the Bowing index, Penetration Aspiration Scale (PAS) score, premature leakage, and build-up phenomenon were evaluated. Multiple regression models were used to evaluate factors affecting the residue at different anatomic levels. Results: Overall 53 patients completed the study. The multiple regression analyses showed a relation between (1) the presence of residue at the level of oropharynx and epiglottis with premature leakage, (2) the presence of residue at the level of the laryngeal vestibule and vocal folds with build-up phenomenon, and (3) the presence of residue at the level of the hypopharynx, laryngeal vestibule, and subglottis with airway invasion. Conclusion: Residue pattern during FEES is associated with specific swallow dysfunctions in IPD. Using residue localization and quantification may be a helpful tool in assessing the impact of targeted swallowing interventions in patients with IPD and dysphagia.

Abstract
Cellulitis is one of the most important troubling complications of breast cancer treatment. Therefore, elucidating the risk factors for cellulitis in patients that have undergone breast cancer treatment is crucial. This is a retrospective medical record study among 523 patients who had received breast cancer treatment and were referred to the Lymphedema Clinic. Data on age, height, weight, BMI (body mass index), education level, arm dominance, history of previous surgery, axillary lymph node dissection, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy were noted. The time between operation and onset of lymphedema, duration of lymphedema, history of cellulitis, and number of cellulitis attacks were recorded. Circumference measurements were taken at four points on the upper limb. Univariate analysis showed that longer duration of lymphedema, larger circumference of the unaffected arm and larger circumference of the arm with lymphedema were associated with higher risk of cellulitis (p=0.008, p=0.007, p< 0.001, respectively). The incidence of cellulitis was higher in patients with lymphedema than patients who had no lymphedema (p< 0.001). Moreover, the frequency of cellulitis was higher in patients with lower education level (p=0.015). It was deter-mined that patients with cellulitis needed more compression garments (p< 0.001) and multi-layered bandage therapy (p< 0.001) than those without. Regression analysis revealed that presence of lymphedema (p=0.036), duration of lymphedema (p=0.048), radiotherapy (p=0.01) and educational level (0.019) are significantly associated with developing upper extremity cellulitis. It is important to consider these risk factors for the prevention and management of cellulitis in patients who undergo treatment for breast cancer. Early detection and treatment of lymphedema also remains essential for these patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Cluster headache (CH) is a primary headache characterized by strictly unilateral, short-lasting severe headache attacks accompanied by at least one ipsilateral autonomic symptom. Our study aimed to determine whether CH patients had olfactory dysfunction and to correlate it with clinical characteristics. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty patients and 57 healthy volunteers were included in the study. All participants were examined in the otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinics to exclude other clinical problems causing olfactory dysfunction. The Sniffin' Sticks test was performed, and threshold (T), discrimination (D), identification (I) scores, and TDI global olfactory score were evaluated. RESULTS The CH patients had significantly lower threshold scores than healthy controls (6.9 ± 1.70 vs. 7.8 ± 1.08, p = 0.007). The mean threshold scores of CH patients during in-bout (n = 9) were significantly lower than CH patients during out-of-bout (n = 11) in subgroup analysis (5.9 ± 1.16 vs. 7.6 ± 1.76, p = 0.038). CH patients with left-sided headache had significantly lower discrimination scores compared to CH patients with right-sided headache (12.8 ± 1.24 vs. 14.4 ± 1.51, p = 0.03). CONCLUSION There is marked impairment in olfactory function in CH patients compared to healthy controls.

Abstract
Multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) can be isolated from many tissues, including bone marrow (BM) and placenta (PL). Human placenta can be obtained readily without invasive procedures. There may be differences, however, in differentiation capacity and immunomodulation by MSC isolated from BM or PL. The early pregnancy factor (heat shock protein 10; EPF/Hsp10) is a small protein that exhibits immunomodulatory properties. We compared BM- and PL-MSC, and assessed their efficacy for suppressing T-cell proliferation in vitro and the role of EPF/Hsp10 in this process. PL-MSC were collected from whole placenta after removal of the amniotic and chorionic membranes followed by serial enzymatic digestions. The PL-MSC were compared to BM-MSC, obtained from healthy donors. Differentiation capacity, cytokine secretion, expression and secretion of immunomodulatory molecules, immunophenotype and real time proliferation were assessed using cytokine arrays, ELISA assays, flow cytometry, immunohistochemical staining and western blotting. Whereas BM-MSC consisted of a homogeneous cell population with strong expression of mesenchymal markers, PL-MSC consisted of a mixed population of cells with variable CD73, CD90 and CD105 expression. PL-MSC exhibited a significantly greater proliferation rate than BM-MSC. The presence of both stem cells and more mature cells in the PL-MSC cultures resulted in decreased differentiation capacity and reduced efficacy of immune suppression in co-cultures with T-cells. Although robust intracellular expression of EPF/Hsp10 in both BM- and PL-MSC was observed, secretion of the protein in response to immune activating stimuli remained below detectable levels. Secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines was significantly greater in BM-MSC than PL-MSC, whereas no difference was observed in the secretion of hematopoiesis supporting growth factors. Development of culture methods for isolation of pure populations of PL-MSC may improve the quality of the product and reproducibility of results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The genetic and epidemiological features of hereditary ataxias have been reported in several populations; however, Turkey is still unexplored. Due to high consanguinity, recessive ataxias are more common in Turkey than in Western European populations. OBJECTIVE To identify the prevalence and genetic structure of hereditary ataxias in the Turkish population. METHODS Our cohort consisted of 1296 index cases and 324 affected family members. Polymerase chain reaction followed by Sanger sequencing or fragment analysis were performed to screen for the trinucleotide repeat expansions in families with a dominant inheritance pattern, as well as in sporadic cases. The expansion in the frataxin (FXN) gene was tested in all autosomal recessive cases and in sporadic cases with a compatible phenotype. Whole-exome sequencing was applied to 251 probands, selected based on the family history, age of onset, and phenotype. RESULTS Mutations in known ataxia genes were identified in 30% of 1296 probands. Friedreich's ataxia was found to be the most common recessive ataxia in Turkey, followed by autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay. Spinocerebellar ataxia types 2 and 1 were the most common dominant ataxias. Whole-exome sequencing was performed in 251 probands with an approximate diagnostic yield of 50%. Forty-eight novel variants were found in a plethora of genes, suggesting a high heterogeneity. Variants of unknown significance were discussed in light of clinical data. CONCLUSION With the large sample size recruited across the country, we consider that our results provide an accurate picture of the frequency of hereditary ataxias in Turkey. © 2021 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Abstract
The last decade has proven that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is clinically and genetically heterogeneous, and that the genetic component in sporadic cases might be stronger than expected. This study investigates 1,200 patients to revisit ALS in the ethnically heterogeneous yet inbred Turkish population. Familial ALS (fALS) accounts for 20% of our cases. The rates of consanguinity are 30% in fALS and 23% in sporadic ALS (sALS). Major ALS genes explained the disease cause in only 35% of fALS, as compared with ~70% in Europe and North America. Whole exome sequencing resulted in a discovery rate of 42% (53/127). Whole genome analyses in 623 sALS cases and 142 population controls, sequenced within Project MinE, revealed well-established fALS gene variants, solidifying the concept of incomplete penetrance in ALS. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) with whole genome sequencing data did not indicate a new risk locus. Coupling GWAS with a coexpression network of disease-associated candidates, points to a significant enrichment for cell cycle- and division-related genes. Within this network, literature text-mining highlights DECR1, ATL1, HDAC2, GEMIN4, and HNRNPA3 as important genes. Finally, information on ALS-related gene variants in the Turkish cohort sequenced within Project MinE was compiled in the GeNDAL variant browser (www.gendal.org).

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Despite the lack of recognition in clinical practice, there is increasing evidence that patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension may suffer from hyposmia. The current case-control study aims to evaluate olfactory dysfunction in a large series of patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension. METHODS All subjects, 44 idiopathic intracranial hypertension patients and 57 healthy controls, underwent olfactory function assessment using standardized "Sniffin' Sticks" test at a tertiary referral center of a university hospital. Threshold, discrimination, identification, and total threshold-discrimination-identification scores have been determined and analyzed statistically. RESULTS Idiopathic intracranial hypertension patients had significantly lower threshold (6.5 [3.69] vs 8 [1.88], P < .001, 95% CI [-2.250, -0.750]) and threshold-discrimination-identification scores (29.75 [5.56] vs 32.5 [5.25], P = .003, 95% CI [-4.250, -0.750]). Twenty-five patients (57%) were diagnosed with hyposmia. Test scores of patients with active idiopathic intracranial hypertension (n = 18) were not statistically different from patients with inactive disease (n = 26), except for discrimination score (14 [2.50] vs 11 [2.25], P = .005, 95% CI [-3.000, -1.000]). Although idiopathic intracranial hypertension patients with a cerebrospinal fluid opening pressure of ≥330 mmH2 O had lower test scores, the difference was significant only for total threshold-discrimination-identification scores (28.5 [5.50] vs 30.5 [4.38], P = .044, 95% CI [0.750, 5.500]). Multiple regression analysis revealed that test scores were related to disease activity, cerebrospinal fluid opening pressure, papilledema, headache, and medication. CONCLUSION Our clinical study revealed significant olfactory dysfunction in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension compared with healthy controls. Future research should employ larger samples to search for usability of olfactory testing in clinical management of patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is a major cause of death in patients with chronic drug-resistant epilepsy, and peri-ictal prone position has been elucidated as a risk factor for SUDEP. We aimed to investigate consecutive patients in peri-ictal prone positions in our video EEG monitoring (VEM) unit and compare patients with and without peri-ictal prone position to emphasize its relationship with other independent risk factors for SUDEP. METHODS We retrospectively screened all patients with peri-ictal prone position who underwent VEM for a 10-year period and these patients constituted the prone (+) group. All patients without peri-ictal prone position who underwent VEM in the past 2 years constituted the prone (-) control group. Sequences of peri-ictal positions and interventions were evaluated. Clinical and laboratory features and SUDEP-7 scores were compared between the groups. RESULTS A total of 21 seizures were identified with peri-ictal prone position from 16 patients. SUDEP-7 scores were significantly higher in the prone (+) group. Longer duration of epilepsy, early age at seizure onset, mental retardation, and frequency of seizures of any type (>50 seizures per month for the past year) were found significantly different between the prone (+) and prone (-) groups. CONCLUSION Peri-ictal prone position in the VEM unit may relate with other independent risk factors of SUDEP, especially with mental retardation. Nocturnal supervision becomes important to reduce SUDEP risk, especially in patients with mental retardation.

Abstract
Although formerly considered as a "benign" disease, the presence of some important problems such as vision loss, resistance to appropriate medical treatment and relapses suggests that neuronal damage might play a role in the pathophysiology of IIH. In order to demonstrate possible neuronal damage/dysfunction participating in IIH pathophysiology, we aimed to investigate the relationship between serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels and clinical features in patients with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). Thirty-six patients with IIH, diagnosed according to the revised criteria, and 40 age, gender and body mass index-matched healthy controls were enrolled in this study after their consent. Serum samples were evaluated for NSE via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method. NSE levels were higher in the IIH group (23.7 ± 14.53 ng/ml) compared to the control group (22.7 ± 13.11 ng/ml), but the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.824). There were also no statistically significant differences in NSE levels in IIH patients regarding the presence of visual loss, relapse, oligoclonal bands and papilledema. We could not demonstrate any correlations between NSE levels and age, body mass index, cerebrospinal fluid opening pressure and disease duration. The present study is the first to analyze NSE levels in IIH patients and showed no significant difference between patients and controls, and also between different clinical subgroups of IIH patients.

Abstract
Headache and visual disturbances are the main presenting symptoms of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) characterized by increased intracranial pressure (ICP) with an unknown cause. We aimed to investigate the antibodies against optic neuritis-associated glial antigens, aquaporin-4 (AQP4) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) and uncharacterized neuronal membrane antigens in IIH patients. Consecutive patients diagnosed according to Friedman revised diagnostic criteria and control subjects were included after their consent. All serum samples were analyzed for antibodies against AQP4 and MOG using cell-based immunofluorescent assays and for uncharacterized neuronal membrane antigens by indirect immunocytochemistry utilizing live neurons. Sera of 34 patients with IIH and 40 control subjects were investigated but none of the patients showed AQP4 and MOG antibodies. However, serum IgG of five IIH patients showed reactivity against membrane antigens of rat hippocampal and cortical neurons. Interestingly, three out of these five patients had nonspecific white matter lesions on MRI, whereas only four of all other patients had these lesions (p = 0.048). AQP4 and MOG antibodies do not seem to have a role in the pathophysiology of IIH. However, association of immunocytochemistry findings with the presence of white matter lesions may suggest that immunological factors contribute to the pathogenesis of IIH in at least some of the patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiac problems have been suggested as causes of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). Our aim was to investigate possible associations of cardiac autonomic functions based on heart rate variability (HRV) parameters with risk factors of SUDEP in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. METHODS Forty-seven patients with drug-resistant seizures and 45 healthy control subjects were enrolled in the study. Interictal time domain parameters of HRV were evaluated with 24-hour Holter recordings. Potential SUDEP risk in patients with epilepsy was estimated using an inventory of seven validated SUDEP risk factors (The SUDEP-7 inventory). RESULTS When compared with the healthy controls, all time domain measures (SDNN-24, SDNN-index, SDANN-index, RMSSD and pNN50) were significantly suppressed in the patient group. Scores of the SUDEP-7 inventory ranged from 1 to 9 with a median 4 out of a maximum possible risk score of 10. Maximum heart rate value in 24-hour Holter recordings and epilepsy duration were correlated with the SUDEP-7 scores (r=0.3, p=0.03). We found no significant association with HRV measures and SUDEP-7 risk factors. One patient diagnosed with Dravet syndrome died of SUDEP, which was autopsy confirmed; his SUDEP-7 inventory score was 7, HRV measures were significantly diminished, and his maximum heart rate (HR) was 208beats/min (maximum HR is between 104 and 188beats/min in normal subjects). CONCLUSION Patients with drug-resistant epilepsy present with significantly lower HRV measures, which may increase the risk for sudden cardiac death. Increased heart rate and diminished HRV measures may constitute one of the possible mechanisms underlying SUDEP and should be diagnosed in patients with epilepsy.

Abstract
Background Although specific role players are currently unknown, contribution of inflammatory mediators has been suggested in the pathophysiology of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), which is a disease more prevalent in obese female individuals of childbearing age. We aimed to investigate the levels of adipokines and cytokines to demonstrate possible markers for inflammation that participate in IIH pathophysiology and their association with clinical features of IIH. Methods IIH patients, diagnosed according to the revised criteria, and age-, gender- and body mass index (BMI)-matched healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Serum samples were evaluated for insulin-like growth factor 1, insulin, nesfatin, adiponectin, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, leptin, plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1, resistin, tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and monocyte chemotactic protein 1 via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay or multiplex immunoassays. Results IL-1β level was significantly higher ( p = 0.012), and IL-8 and TNF-α levels were significantly lower in the IIH group ( p < 0.001 and p = 0.008, respectively) compared to the control group. There were no correlations between the cytokine/adipokine levels and age, BMI, disease duration, and cerebrospinal fluid oligoclonal bands. There were also no significant differences in cytokine and adipokine levels between IIH patients regarding visual impairment. However, statistically significant differences were found between IIH patients with relapse versus healthy controls regarding IL-1β ( p = 0.007), IL-8 ( p = 0.001) and TNF-α ( p = 0.017) levels. Other investigated cytokines and adipokines showed no significant alterations in IIH patients investigated in the remission period. Conclusion Altered serum levels of IL-1β, IL-8 and TNF-α seem to be associated with IIH pathogenesis, and these cytokines may be used as prognostic markers in IIH to predict relapse.

Abstract
Excited states in the N=102 isotones 166Gd and 164Sm have been observed following isomeric decay for the first time at RIBF, RIKEN. The half-lives of the isomeric states have been measured to be 950(60) and 600(140) ns for 166Gd and 164Sm, respectively. Based on the decay patterns and potential energy surface calculations, including β6 deformation, a spin and parity of 6- has been assigned to the isomeric states in both nuclei. Collective observables are discussed in light of the systematics of the region, giving insight into nuclear shape evolution. The decrease in the ground-band energies of 166Gd and 164Sm (N=102) compared to 164Gd and 162Sm (N=100), respectively, presents evidence for the predicted deformed shell closure at N=100.

Abstract
The crystal structures of the six-coordinate complexes [Cd(sac)2(H2O)2(meim)2] (complex 1) formed by reaction of 4-methylimidazole(meim) with [Cd(sac)2(H2O)4]·2H2O (saccharinate=sac), was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared (IR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, thermal analysis and X-ray single crystal diffraction. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that complex 1 crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/c. The Cd(II) center was six-coordinated with four nitrogen atoms from two sac and two 4-meim ligands, two oxygen atoms from two aqua ligands. Spectral and thermal analysis data for complex 1 was in agreement with the crystal structures. In addition complex 1 displayed blue fluorescent emission in the solid state at room temperature. Single crystal EPR spectra at room temperature are resolved and have exhibited that two different Cu(2+) complexes were located in different chemical environments which contained two magnetically nonequivalent Cu(2+) sites. In low temperature EPR spectra down to 110 °C did show no considerable change. At higher temperatures, however, both thermo gravimetric analyses (TGA) and EPR spectra showed detectable changes around 140 °C; the causes and the mechanisms of changes are discussed.

Abstract
AIM Increased frequency of cardiovascular disease and its possible relations with insulin resistance have been reported in patients with inflammatory diseases. The aim of our study was to investigate insulin resistance and serum adiponectin levels as cardiovascular risk markers in patients with Behçet's disease. METHOD Study population consisted of 40 patients with Behçet's disease (BD) and a control group composed of age, gender, body mass index-matched 46 healthy individuals. All patients were examined for signs of Behçet's disease. Body mass index, waist and hip circumference were measured. Insulin resistance was evaluated using the homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance method. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), lipid profile, high sensitive CRP (hsCRP), adiponectin, TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8 levels were measured. RESULTS Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, serum hsCRP and IL-6 levels were significantly higher in patients with BD than those in the controls (P=0.001, P=0.001, P=0.001, respectively). Fasting plasma glucose, insulin levels and lipid profile were not different between the two groups. Insulin resistance and decreased levels of the serum adiponectin were not detected in the patients. There was no relationship between insulin resistance, adiponectin levels and inflammatory markers. Active and inactive patients did not differ in respect of any parameters. CONCLUSION Being a systemic vasculitis, BD may cause cardiovascular involvement. In this study, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and low adiponectin levels were not detected among our patients with Behçet's disease. Our results suggest that there exists no increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease associated with adiponectin levels and insulin resistance in patients with Behçet's disease.

N-(3-hydroxypyridine-2-yl)salicylidineimine (1), N-(3-hydroxypyridine-2-yl)-5-bromo salicylideneimine (2) and their diorganotin(IV) complexes formulated as Me2Sn(OC6H4CH=NC5H3NO) (3) and Me2Sn(OC6H3BrCH=NC5H3NO) (4) were prepared and characterized by 1H-NMR, IR, mass spectroscopy and single crystal x-ray diffraction study. The crystal structures of 3 [orthorhombic, Pbna (no 60); a = 10.439(1) Å, b = 13.388(3) Å, c = 19.340(2) Å, Z = 4; V = 2703(1) Å3] and 4 [monoclinic, P21/a (no 14); a = 7.528(4) Å, b = 16.576(7) Å, c = 12.017(7) Å, β = 97.97(5), Z = 4; V = 1485(1) Å3] have been solved by standard methods and refined by full-matrix least squares (carried out on F
2) to R values of 0.066 and 0.046 respectively. The studied tin(IV) complexes (3 and 4) exhibit the distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometries around Sn atoms, separately. The tautomeric effects of ligands and the substitution of Br atom to the common molecular structure were discussed beside of the coordination geometries of 3 and 4.

Abstract
Abstract
The Ni(II) complex of N-(2,4-dimethoxy ben-zylidene)-2-mercaptoaniline, [Ni(C15H14NO2S)2] was prepared and investigated. The structure derived from the two dimensional (2-D) NMR techniques, the infrared spectra, elemental analysis and mass spectra is consistent with that of the single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal system is monoclinic, space group Cc(no:9), number of formulae per unit cell Z=4. Cell parameters are a=14.283(4), b=13.828(4), c=14.345(5) Å, β=102.84(3)°, V= 2762(2) Å3. Two singly deprotonated ligands coordinate the metal atom in a distorted square planar geometry. The molecular geometry was also effected by C-H⋅⋅⋅N and C-H⋅⋅⋅O intramolecular hydrogen bonds.
