Descending aorta substitution with expandable ends prosthesis. Case report

A case of esophageal cancer infiltrating the left bronchus pars membranacea and the aneurysmal aortic wall was resected en bloc with the bronchial and aortic wall. Descending aorta was substituted by means of a Dacron prosthesis fitted with expandable devices at both ends, allowing a very significant reduction of the clamping time and simplification of this part of the procedure.

[Subarachnoid hemorrhage and pregnancy]

Intracranial haemorrhage from ruptured aneurysm or bleeding in arteriovenous malformation is rare, but may result in significant maternal and fetal mortality and serious neurological morbidity in survivors. Surgical intervention creates risks for the mother and her fetus, but is the best form of management. The anaesthetic procedure can present many clinical dilemmas, one of which is the role of induced hypotension. This review will focus on the diagnosis and management of this dramatic event.

[Malignant hyperthermia. The need for anesthesia in a patient manifesting this syndrome]

Successful treatment of malignant hyperthermia, following its prompt recognition in a young patient during general anaesthesia with halothane and succinylcholine, preceded the equally successful employment of ketamin, with no signs of enzyme alteration and circulatory stability, when the same subject had to be operated 20 days later.
