Lanthanide(iii) coordination polymers for luminescence detection of Fe(iii) and picric acid

Two 2D coordination polymers exhibit a sensitive and fast luminescence quenching response to Fe³⁺and picric acid (PA) in water with a high quenching effect constant (K_sv) for PA (>17 000 M⁻¹) and Fe³⁺(>3950 M⁻¹).

Synthesis, characterization and electronic properties of an endohedral plumbaspherene [Au@Pb12]3−

A 12-vertex cluster [Au@Pb₁₂]³⁻ exhibits a distortion compared to I_h-[Pb₁₂]²⁻ cage. DFT calculations indicate that the NICS curves of [Pb₁₂]²⁻ and [Au@Pb₁₂]³⁻ share very similar character and tendency confirming their analogous aromaticity.

A niobium-necked cluster [As3Nb(As3Sn3)]3− with aromatic Sn32−

A new Zintl cluster [As₃Nb(As₃Sn₃)]³⁻ was synthesized and characterized, in which an As₃ triangle and a bowl-type As₃Sn₃ ligand are bridged by a niobium atom. The Sn₃ ring is found to have σ-aromaticity featured by a delocalized Sn–Sn–Sn σ orbital.
