Abstract
In this study, a Korean Assessment of Children's Emotional Skills (ACES) was developed by modifying the original ACES which was initially introduced in the United States. Specifically, the original ACES was translated into Korean and revised to better fit the Korean cultural context. The content validity of the revised Korean ACES was established via expert reviews. To test its reliability, the revised Korean ACES was conducted on 286 six-year-old children. A confirmatory factor analysis indicated that our newly developed Korean ACES can be used as an appropriate tool to measure Korean children's emotional skills. The Korean ACES can stimulate further studies on these emotional skills and contribute to various international collaborative studies that seek to compare the emotional skills of children from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Abstract
The first measurement of the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons as a function of the Mandelstam |t| variable is presented. The measurement was carried out with the ALICE detector at midrapidity, |y|<0.8, using ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. This rapidity interval corresponds to a Bjorken-x range (0.3-1.4)×10^{-3}. Cross sections are given in five |t| intervals in the range 0.04<|t|<1 GeV^{2} and compared to the predictions by different models. Models that ignore quantum fluctuations of the gluon density in the colliding hadron predict a |t| dependence of the cross section much steeper than in data. The inclusion of such fluctuations in the same models provides a better description of the data.

Abstract
On December 5, 2022, an indirect drive fusion implosion on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) achieved a target gain G_{target} of 1.5. This is the first laboratory demonstration of exceeding "scientific breakeven" (or G_{target}>1) where 2.05 MJ of 351 nm laser light produced 3.1 MJ of total fusion yield, a result which significantly exceeds the Lawson criterion for fusion ignition as reported in a previous NIF implosion [H. Abu-Shawareb et al. (Indirect Drive ICF Collaboration), Phys. Rev. Lett. 129, 075001 (2022)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.129.075001]. This achievement is the culmination of more than five decades of research and gives proof that laboratory fusion, based on fundamental physics principles, is possible. This Letter reports on the target, laser, design, and experimental advancements that led to this result.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Research into the influence and role of social networks on oral health outcomes has been limited. This study aims to demonstrate via explanatory modeling the influence of social networks on oral health outcomes among women in who live in public housing in Boston, Massachusetts. METHODS Individual- and network-level data were obtained from a cross-sectional survey of adult female residents of 2 public housing developments in Boston, Massachusetts. Participants responded to close-ended questions about sociodemographic characteristics, oral and general health status, and health-related behaviors for themselves as well as their named social contacts. Based on this information, network-level variables were calculated for each participant, including the proportion of the social network with certain characteristics or attributes. To assess the salience of network measures in explaining the variability in self-reported oral health status, overall health status, use of dental services within the last year, and current dental treatment needs, logistic regression models with individual-level covariates were compared with corresponding models that additionally included network-level variables with McFadden R2 for comparison purposes. RESULTS Model comparisons for each outcome of interest demonstrated that adding network-level covariates significantly improved model fit. Additionally, network-level covariates displayed strong independent associations with the outcomes of interest. The network proportion needing dental treatment was positively associated with participants' odds of reporting current dental treatment needs (odds ratio, 4.71; 95% CI, 1.47 to 15.05). An individual's odds of reporting no dental visit within the past year decreased with increasing exposure to social contacts with reported dental visits within the past year (odds ratio, 0.26; 95% CI, 0.07 to 0.89). CONCLUSION The salience of specific network attributes depended on the outcome under study. Interventions aimed at reducing the poor oral health burden in this and similar population groups may benefit from integrating information on social networks, including tailoring intervention delivery and/or messaging to account for the potential influence of social networks. KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER STATEMENT This work may be beneficial to those developing policy solutions and interventions aimed at reducing the burden of poor oral health outcomes in socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, such as women who reside in public housing developments. The potential for leveraging social networks to seed messaging about oral health, for example, may enhance efforts to reduce oral health disparities.

Predictive Value of Pre-Treatment MRI Radiomics for Distant Brain Metastases Following Stereotactic Radiosurgery/Radiotherapy. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e84. [PMID: 37786196 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijrobp.2023.06.835] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 10/04/2023]
Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Local intracranial therapy for brain metastases (BM) has taken on particular importance as survival among metastatic patients improves. However, the development of distant BMs (DBMs) outside the treated area remains a stubborn problem for which canonical clinical features (age, histology, ECOG PS) have limited predictive capability. In this study, we hypothesized that MRI-based "radiomic" features (sub-visual cues extracted from diagnostic images) can accurately predict the time-to-DBM development (TTDD) on a retrospectively curated dataset of patients treated with stereotactic radiosurgery/radiotherapy (SRS/SRT). MATERIALS/METHODS We queried our treatment planning system for patients treated with brain SRS/SRT between 2014 and 2021, and curated the incidence/timing of DBMs manually. Pre-RT MRI sequences (T1 pre, T1 post, T2, and FLAIR) and planning data were obtained for each patient. MRI and CT simulations were co-registered using affine transformations, and regions of interest (ROIs) were identified based on contoured structures (GTV) and discrete isodose ranges (0-25%, 25-50%, 50-75%, 75%+). Radiomic features were extracted from these ROIs, and clinical features (ECOG PS, tumor volume, age) were recorded for baseline comparison. Features were selected using Wald test scores from univariate Cox proportional hazard (CPH) models. Multivariate CPH models were then trained to predict TTDD using combinations of selected features. Predictive capability was evaluated using concordance index (c-index) values. A radiomic risk score (RRS) was created to discriminate patients with low and high-risk for DBMs, and evaluated using a log-rank test. RESULTS A total of 105 patients were selected with a median follow up of 356 days. 53 patients developed DBMs (median time 118 days). Radiomic CPH models achieved a c-index of 0.63 compared to clinical baseline of 0.49. The combination of radiomic and clinical features achieved the highest c-index of 0.69. Overall, radiomic features with and without clinical features were able to stratify patients into low and high-risk groups with statistically significant differences in TTDD development (see Table 1). Clinical features alone were not significant. The most predictive radiomic features were identified within the T1 pre-contrast MRI from the 50-75% isodose regions, followed by T2 FLAIR/GTV and T2/GTV combinations. CONCLUSION Radiomic features from routine MR scans were more predictive of TTDD than baseline clinical features. The contribution from the 50-75% isodose region suggests importance within the peritumoral environment in addition to the tumor itself.

Enhanced Deuteron Coalescence Probability in Jets. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:042301. Abstract
The transverse-momentum (p_{T}) spectra and coalescence parameters B_{2} of (anti)deuterons are measured in p-p collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV for the first time in and out of jets. In this measurement, the direction of the leading particle with the highest p_{T} in the event (p_{T}^{lead}>5 GeV/c) is used as an approximation for the jet axis. The event is consequently divided into three azimuthal regions, and the jet signal is obtained as the difference between the toward region, that contains jet fragmentation products in addition to the underlying event (UE), and the transverse region, which is dominated by the UE. The coalescence parameter in the jet is found to be approximately a factor of 10 larger than that in the underlying event. This experimental observation is consistent with the coalescence picture and can be attributed to the smaller average phase-space distance between nucleons in the jet cone as compared with the underlying event. The results presented in this Letter are compared to predictions from a simple nucleon coalescence model, where the phase-space distributions of nucleons are generated using pythia8 with the Monash 2013 tuning, and to predictions from a deuteron production model based on ordinary nuclear reactions with parametrized energy-dependent cross sections tuned on data. The latter model is implemented in pythia8.3. Both models reproduce the observed large difference between in-jet and out-of-jet coalescence parameters, although the almost flat trend of the B_{2}^{Jet} is not reproduced by the models, which instead give a decreasing trend.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Even though the presence of hyperglycemia has shown to affect the clinical outcome of cardiogenic shock patients, the extent of hyperglycemia and its association with prognosis have not been fully addressed in large population
Purpose
Investigate the clinical relationship between hyperglycemic status and in-hospital mortality in cardiogenic shock patients
Method
A total of 1,177 consecutive cardiogenic shock patients were enrolled from January 2014 to December of 2018 at 12 hospitals in South Korea. The primary outcome was in-hospital mortality. Patients were divided into four groups according to their initial plasma glucose level in each of diabetes patients (n=752) and non-diabetes patients (n=425); group 1 (≤8 mmol/L), group 2 (8–12 mmol/L), group 3 (12–16 mmol/L) and group 4 (≥16 mmol/L).
Results
The groups with higher admission plasma glucose were associated with lower systolic blood pressure and higher lactic acid level in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients. In-hospital mortality increased in groups with higher admission plasma glucose level in non-diabetic patients (group-1:24.2%, group-2: 28.6%, group-3: 38.1%, group-4: 49.0%, p<0.01) whereas in diabetic patients, mortality and admission plasma glucose level showed no significant association (group-1: 45%, group-2: 35.4%, group-3: 33.3%, group-4: 43.1%, p=0.26). Even after Multivariate analysis, high plasma glucose was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in non-diabetic patients
Conclusion
In cardiogenic shock patients, plasma glucose obtained at admission was associated with in-hospital mortality in non-diabetic patients

Abstract
For more than half a century, researchers around the world have been engaged in attempts to achieve fusion ignition as a proof of principle of various fusion concepts. Following the Lawson criterion, an ignited plasma is one where the fusion heating power is high enough to overcome all the physical processes that cool the fusion plasma, creating a positive thermodynamic feedback loop with rapidly increasing temperature. In inertially confined fusion, ignition is a state where the fusion plasma can begin "burn propagation" into surrounding cold fuel, enabling the possibility of high energy gain. While "scientific breakeven" (i.e., unity target gain) has not yet been achieved (here target gain is 0.72, 1.37 MJ of fusion for 1.92 MJ of laser energy), this Letter reports the first controlled fusion experiment, using laser indirect drive, on the National Ignition Facility to produce capsule gain (here 5.8) and reach ignition by nine different formulations of the Lawson criterion.

Abstract
Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a type I hypersensitivity mediated by dominant T helper 2 (Th2) response over the Th1 response after re-exposure to a specific allergen. Currently, socio-economic cost evoked by AR is quickly increasing since the prevalence of AR is gradually increasing in all ages worldwide. Several probiotic Lactobacillus strains have been described with potential immunomodulatory effects against type I hypersensitivity such as AR. Thus, the aim of the present work was to characterize basic probiotic property and immunomodulatory role of newly isolated Lactobacillus strains from Kimchi, a traditional fermented Korean food, in allergic rhinitis. Among the identified strains, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum NR16 revealed to be a powerful Th1 inducer since immune cells co-cultured with NR16 produced the highest quantity of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and interleukin-12 (IL-12) but secreted a low amount of IL-4 in vitro. Therefore, NR16 was selected for the following assays conducted with mice with birch pollen-induced allergic rhinitis. Oral administration of NR16 reduced airway hyperresponsiveness and leukocyte infiltration in lesions of mice. In conclusion, oral administration of NR16 may mitigate symptoms of allergic rhinitis by inducing Th1 immune response, which might rebalance Th2/Th1 ratio by decreasing Th2 cytokine production in specific lesions of mucosa.

Abstract
Over the past few decades, neuroimaging has become a ubiquitous tool in basic research and clinical studies of the human brain. However, no reference standards currently exist to quantify individual differences in neuroimaging metrics over time, in contrast to growth charts for anthropometric traits such as height and weight1. Here we assemble an interactive open resource to benchmark brain morphology derived from any current or future sample of MRI data ( http://www.brainchart.io/ ). With the goal of basing these reference charts on the largest and most inclusive dataset available, acknowledging limitations due to known biases of MRI studies relative to the diversity of the global population, we aggregated 123,984 MRI scans, across more than 100 primary studies, from 101,457 human participants between 115 days post-conception to 100 years of age. MRI metrics were quantified by centile scores, relative to non-linear trajectories2 of brain structural changes, and rates of change, over the lifespan. Brain charts identified previously unreported neurodevelopmental milestones3, showed high stability of individuals across longitudinal assessments, and demonstrated robustness to technical and methodological differences between primary studies. Centile scores showed increased heritability compared with non-centiled MRI phenotypes, and provided a standardized measure of atypical brain structure that revealed patterns of neuroanatomical variation across neurological and psychiatric disorders. In summary, brain charts are an essential step towards robust quantification of individual variation benchmarked to normative trajectories in multiple, commonly used neuroimaging phenotypes.

Background
The HOST-EXAM randomized clinical trial recently performed a comparison of clopidogrel monotherapy vs. aspirin monotherapy in patients requiring indefinite antiplatelet monotherapy after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study randomized 5,438 patients who maintained dual antiplatelet therapy without clinical events for 6–18 months after PCI with drug-eluting stents (DES) to receive a monotherapy agent of clopidogrel 75 mg once daily or aspirin 100 mg once daily for 24 months. During the 24-month follow-up, the primary outcome (a composite of all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, readmission due to acute coronary syndrome, and Bleeding Academic Research Consortium (BARC) bleeding type 3 or greater) rate was significantly lower in the clopidogrel group (hazard ratio [HR] 0.73 [95% CI 0.59–0.90]; p = 0.0035). However, it is uncertain whether the beneficial effect of clopidogrel will be consistent in patients with high ischemic risk or those with high bleeding risk.
Methods
This is a post-hoc analysis of the HOST-EXAM trial. A high ischemic risk was defined as those who had at least 1 of the following procedural features: 3 vessels treated, ≥3 stents implanted, ≥3 lesions treated, bifurcation PCI, total stent length >60 mm, or left main PCI. Patients with high bleeding risk were defined according to the Academic Research Consortium for High Bleeding Risk (ARC-HBR) criteria. The co-primary outcome were thrombotic endpoints (a composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, readmission due to acute coronary syndrome, and definite or probable stent thrombosis) and bleeding endpoints (BARC type ≥2 bleeding events) at 24-month follow-up.
Results
Among the total population, 22.1% had high ischemic risk and 21.4% had high bleeding risk. Complex PCI was not associated with a higher risk of thrombotic endpoints, nor bleeding endpoints. For patients with a high bleeding risk, these patients had a higher risk of both thrombotic endpoints (HR 1.545, 95% CI 0.141-2.092, p = 0.005) and bleeding endpoints (HR 3.418, 95% CI 2.413-4.840, p < 0.001). The primary results focusing on the interaction between high ischemic risk, high bleeding and the antiplatelet regimen will be presented.
Conclusion
The current post-hoc analysis of the HOST-EXAM trial will evaluate the efficacy of clopidogrel monotherapy vs. aspirin monotherapy during the chronic maintenance period after PCI, in patients with high ischemic risk or those with high bleeding risk.

Abstract
This study was performed to evaluate the effects of dietary probiotics on growth, non-specific immune responses and disease resistance in olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus. During 8 weeks, the fish were fed the five experimental diets such as a basal commercial diet (CON), oxytetracycline (OTC) and three basal diets containing Bacillus subtilis (BS), a commercial microbial product (CES) and a mixture of yeast and bacterium (PI), respectively. Fish fed all the probiotics diets and OTC showed a significantly higher growth than fish-fed CON (P < 0·05). Fish-fed PI had a significantly higher nitroblue tetrazolium activity, whereas fish-fed CES showed a higher lysozyme level (P < 0·05). A 7-day challenge test also showed that fish-fed PI had a cumulative survival rate equivalent to that of fish-fed OTC (P < 0·05). Moreover, the diet (PI) appeared to increase the diversity of microbial community in the fish. All these results suggest that the probiotics diet could function as a potential antibiotic replacer in the olive flounder. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: This study is unique in revealing that a diet mixture of yeast, Groenewaldozyma salmanticensis and bacterium Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens can enhance growth, innate immunity and diversity of microbial community including dominant species in the olive flounder. All these indicate that the diet mixture could function as a potential antibiotic replacer in one of the most commercially important fisheries in South Korea.

Abstract
Abstract
Backgrounds
Reproductive factors, such as age at menarche, parity, age at first birth, and breast feeding, are known to be associated with risk of breast cancer. Recent studies show the association between the reproductive factors and the molecular subtypes of breast cancer, especially in luminal-like subtypes. Nulliparity is known a risk factor of breast cancer, multiparity is considered a protective factor. However, pregnancy associated breast cancers show the high expression of HER2, Therefore, we hypothesized the number of birth (multiparity) is correlated with the over-expression of HER2.
Methods
We reviewed the database of 2,594 breast cancer patients were over 20 years of age, diagnosed between January 2000 and April 2017 at Korea University of Anam Hospital, Seoul, Korea. According the number of birth, nulliparous (the number of birth = 0; 271 patients), primiparous (the number of birth = 1; 420 patients) and multiparous (the number of birth≥2; 1,903 patients) groups were classified.
Results
The median age (range) of nulliparous, primiparous and multiparous groups was 43 (22-77), 48 (27-87) and 51 (26-86) years (P<0.001). In univariate analysis, the number of birth was associated with the expression of ER and HER2, nulliparous patients showed higher ER positivity (P=0.013) and multiparous patients showed higher HER2 overexpression (P=0.048). There was no association with PR and Ki-67 level. In logistic regression with age, the parity was negative correlation with ER positivity (OR 0.83, 95% CI 0.72-0.95, P=0.010) and positive correlation with HER2 overexpression (OR1.18, 95% CI 1.02-1.36, P=0.021) P=0.009) and multiparity was higher HER2 overexpression (OR 1.41, 95% CI 1.02-1.94, P=0.033). By subgroup analysis with menopausal status, there was statistically significance in only premenopausal women, not in postmenopausal women. In premenopausal women, the parity was negatively associated with ER positivity (OR 0.78, 95%CI 0.64-0.94, P=0.010) and multiparity was associated with HER2 overexpression (OR 1.72, 95%CI 1.12-2.63, P=0.013), there was no difference in HER2 overexpression between nulliparous and primiparous patients.
Conclusion
Parity was associated with ER and HER2 expression, multiparous patients were associated with ER negativity and HER2 overexpression, especially in premenopausal women. This suggests that pregnancy could affect risk of breast cancer, especially in HER2 positive breast cancer subtype (ER- HER2+ tumors), before menopause. We need further investigation and evaluation.

Abstract P2-04-24: Changes of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and programmed death-ligand1 positivity after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced breast cancer. Cancer Res 2017. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Recently, the balance in immune system between immune surveillance and tolerance is known to be associated with the prognosis of breast cancer patients. The aim of this study was to investigate changes of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and programmed death-ligand1 (PD-L1) status after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and their impact on recurrence in patients with locally advanced breast cancer.
Methods
Paired samples (before and after NAC) of triple negative or HER2+ breast cancer tissue were obtained from clinical stage II or III patients (n=39) undergoing NAC and subsequent breast resection. The assessment of immunohistochemical (IHC) staining for PD-L1 were performed. Immunostaining of forkhead box P3 (Foxp3) and CD4/CD8 were performed for subtyping of TILs in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) only. Clinicopathologic data including baseline characteristics, tumor response and recurrence were reviewed.
Results
Proportion of PD-L1 (+) tumor cells in pre-chemotherapy tissue was 20% (5/25) in HER2+ and 28.6% (4/14) in TNBC. It could not predict pathologic complete response. Most post-chemotherapy tissue (21/24) showed same PD-L1 positivity with pre-chemotherapy tissue. The rest showed the decreased PD-L1 positivity after NAC.
In cases of TNBC, the increased number of CD8+ T cells was significantly associated with PD-L1 positivity in pre-chemotherapy tissue. (p=0.001) Foxp3+ T cell proportions decreased significantly (p=0.046) and CD8+/Foxp3+ T-cell ratio increased significantly (p=0.023) after NAC. The patients with increased number of CD8+ T cells after NAC had a tendency to live longer without recurrence compared to patients with decreased CD8+ T cells (62.3 vs 38.1 months, p=0.158).
Conclusion
Our data provides the clinical evidence that PD-L1 positivity are associated with CD8+ T cell proportion and increased CD8+ T cells after NAC might be good prognostic marker. The role of immunologic balance as a prognostic marker for recurrence must be evaluated in future study.

FOXO3 is essential for CD44 expression in pancreatic cancer cells. Oncogene 2016; 36:2643-2654. Abstract
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most fatal types of cancer and the 5-year survival rate is only 5%. Several studies have suggested that cancer stem cells (CSCs) are thought to be involved in recurrence and metastasis and so it is essential to establish an approach targeting CSCs. Here we have demonstrated that cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) suppressed CD44 expression and the properties of CSCs in PDAC. Microarray analysis suggested that cGMP inhibited Forkhead box O3 (FOXO3), which is known as a tumor suppressor. Surprisingly, our data demonstrated that FOXO3 is essential for CD44 expression and the properties of CSCs. Our data also indicated that patients with high FOXO3 activation signatures had poor prognoses. This evidence suggested that cGMP induction and FOXO3 inhibition could be ideal candidates for pancreatic CSC.
