Abstract
Introduction Task specific dystonia is a movement disorder only affecting a highly practiced skill and is found in a broad set of expert movements including in sports. Despite affecting many sports, there is no comprehensive review of treatment options, which is in contrast to better studied forms of task specific dystonia in musicians and writers. For this reason, studies involving an intervention to treat task specific dystonia in sports were systematically reviewed, with special attention for the quality of outcome measures. Methods The PICO systematic search strategy was employed on task-specific dystonia, and all synonyms. Inclusion criteria were peer reviewed published studies pertaining to sports, studies with a measurement and/or intervention in TSD, all in English. We excluded abstracts, expert opinions, narrative review articles, unpublished studies, dissertations and studies exclusively relating to choking. We included case reports, case studies and case-control studies. Results In April 2022 Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, and Psychinfo were searched. Of the 7000 articles identified, 31 were included that described psychological and invasive and/or pharmacological interventions. There was a lack of formal standardized outcome measures in studies resulting in low quality evidence for the effectiveness of treatment options. A descriptive synthesis showed emotional regulation was effective, but was exclusively tried in golfers. Interventions like botulinum toxin or pharmacology had a similar effectiveness compared to studies in musicians dystonia, however there was almost no formal evidence for these treatments. Conclusion The quality of studies was low with a lack of standardized outcome measures. Future studies with larger cohorts and quantitative outcome measures are needed to improve understanding of treatments for task specific dystonia in athletes.

Abstract
Peripersonal space (PPS), the region immediately surrounding the body is essential for bodily protection and goal directed action. Previous studies have suggested that the PPS is anchored to one's own body and in the current study we investigated whether the PPS could be modulated by changes in perceived body ownership. While theoretically important, this anchoring can also have implications for patients with altered body perception. The rubber hand illusion (RHI) is a way to manipulate body ownership. We hypothesized that after induction of a left hand RHI, the perceived space around the body shifts to the right. Sixty-five participants performed a landmark task before and after a left hand RHI. In the landmark task, participants had to determine whether a vertical landmark line was left or right from the center of a horizontal screen. One group of the participants was exposed to synchronous stroking, the other group experienced asynchronous stroking. Results showed a shift in space to the right (e.g. away from the own arm), but only for the 'synchronous stroking' group. These results suggest that the relevant action space becomes linked to the fake hand. Critically, subjective ownership experience did not correlate with this shift, but proprioceptive drift did. This suggests that multisensory integration of bodily information drives this shift in space around the body and not feelings of ownership.

Abstract
Intussusception from a testicular germ cell tumour is extremely rare. Metastatic gastrointestinal implants outgrow their blood supply leading to central necrosis. This results in erosions and ulcerations, which can be visualised as submucosal polypoid masses. These masses can then serve as a lead point for intussusception. We report a case of a 25-year-old patient with small bowel obstruction due to an intussuscepted choriocarcinoma in the absence of any other apparent retroperitoneal disease. Urologists must exclude gastrointestinal tract (GIT) involvement in testicular cancers, and similarly, surgeons need to exclude testicular tumours in young men with unexplained GIT haemorrhage, bowel obstruction or intussusception.

Abstract
Both making perceptual judgments about your own body and successfully moving your body through the world depend on a mental representation of the body. However, there are indications that moving might be challenging when your body is changing. For instance, the pubertal growth spurt has been reported to be negatively correlated to motor competence. A possible explanation for this clumsiness would be that when the body is growing fast, updating the body representation may lag behind, resulting in a mismatch between internal body representation and actual body size. The current study investigated this hypothesis by testing participants ranging from aged 6 to 50 years on both a tactile body image task and a motor body schema task. Separate groups of participants, including those in the age range when pubertal growth spurt occurs, were asked to estimate the distance between two simultaneously applied tactile stimuli on the arm and to move their hand through apertures of different widths. Tactile distance estimations were equal between participants before, during, and after the age range where the pubertal growth spurt is expected. Similarly, Bayesian evaluation of informative hypotheses showed that participants in the age range of the growth spurt did not move through the apertures as if their representation of the hand was smaller than its physical size. These results suggest that body representations do not lag behind in updating for the pubertal growth spurt.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cervical dystonia (CD) is associated with tremor/jerks (50%) and psychiatric complaints (17-70%). The dopaminergic system has been implicated in the pathophysiology of CD in animal and imaging studies. Dopamine may be related to the motor as well as non-motor symptoms of CD. CD is associated with reduced striatal dopamine D2/3 (D2/3) receptor and increased dopamine transporter (DAT) binding. There are differences in the dopamine system between CD patients with and without jerks/tremor and psychiatric symptoms. METHODS Patients with CD and healthy controls underwent neurological and psychiatric examinations. Striatal DAT and D2/3 receptor binding were assessed using [123I]FP-CIT and [123I]IBZM SPECT, respectively. The ratio of specific striatal to non-specific binding (binding potential; BPND) was the outcome measure. RESULTS Twenty-seven patients with CD and 15 matched controls were included. Nineteen percent of patients fulfilled the criteria for a depression. Striatal DAT BPND was significantly lower in depressed versus non-depressed CD patients. Higher DAT BPND correlated significantly with higher scores on the Unified Myoclonus Rating Scale (UMRS). The striatal D2/3 receptor BPND in CD patients showed a trend towards lower binding compared to controls. The D2/3 BPND was significantly lower in depressed versus non-depressed CD patients. A significant correlation between DAT and D2/3R BPND was found in both in patients and controls. CONCLUSIONS Alterations of striatal DAT and D2/3 receptor binding in CD patients are related mainly to depression. DAT BPND correlates significantly with scores on the UMRS, suggesting a role for dopamine in the pathophysiology of tremor/jerks in CD.

Abstract
Introduction Severe acute pancreatitis may be complicated by intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH), abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS), and intestinal ischemia. The aim of this retrospective study is to describe the incidence, treatment, and outcome of patients with severe acute pancreatitis and ACS, in particular the occurrence of intestinal ischemia. Methods The medical records of all patients admitted with severe acute pancreatitis admitted to the ICU of a tertiary referral center were reviewed. The criteria proposed by the World Society of the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (WSACS) were used to determine whether patients had IAH or ACS. Results Fifty-nine patients with severe acute pancreatitis were identified. Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) measurements were performed in 29 patients (49.2 %). IAH was present in all patients (29/29). ACS developed in 13/29 (44.8 %) patients. Ten patients with ACS underwent decompressive laparotomy. A large proportion of patients with ACS had intra-abdominal ischemia upon laparotomy: 8/13 (61.5 %). Mortality was high in both the ACS group and the IAH group. Conclusion This study confirms that ACS is common in severe acute pancreatitis. Intra-abdominal ischemia occurs in a large proportion of patients with ACS. Swift surgical intervention may be indicated when conservative measures fail in patients with ACS. National and international guidelines need to be updated so that routine IAP measurements become standard of care for patients with severe acute pancreatitis in the ICU.

Abstract
Dystonia is a hyperkinetic movement disorder characterized by sustained or intermittent muscle contractions. Emerging data describe high prevalences of non-motor symptoms, including psychiatric co-morbidity, as part of the phenotype of dystonia. Basal ganglia serotonin and serotonin-dopamine interactions gain attention, as imbalances are known to be involved in extrapyramidal movement and psychiatric disorders. We systematically reviewed the literature for human and animal studies relating to serotonin and its role in dystonia. An association between dystonia and the serotonergic system was reported with decreased levels of 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid, the main metabolite of serotonin. A relation between dystonia and drugs affecting the serotonergic system was described in 89 cases in 49 papers. Psychiatric co-morbidity was frequently described, but likely underestimated as it was not systematically examined. Currently, there are no good (pharmaco)therapeutic options for most forms of dystonia or associated non-motor symptoms. Further research using selective serotonergic drugs in appropriate models of dystonia is required to establish the role of the serotonergic system in dystonia and to guide us to new therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
We present the design of a metal grating coupler compatible with membrane photonic circuit platforms, consisting of a buried metal grating and a metal mirror. A nonapodized design provides a fiber-to-chip coupling efficiency at 1.55 μm up to 73%, whereas apodized designs show theoretical efficiencies as high as 89%, with a 3 dB bandwidth of 61 and 78 nm, respectively. An important advantage is that the coupling efficiency is independent from the underlying layer stack, enabling its use in diverse applications. For example, a thin buffer layer is required to achieve optical coupling for the heterogeneous integration of III-V and silicon photonics, whereas a thick buffer is of interest for thermal isolation between photonic membranes and CMOS circuits.

Abstract
Airway inflammation and remodeling are major features of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), whereas pulmonary hypertension is a common comorbidity associated with a poor disease prognosis. Recent studies in animal models have indicated that increased arginase activity contributes to features of asthma, including allergen-induced airway eosinophilia and mucus hypersecretion. Although cigarette smoke and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), major risk factors for COPD, may increase arginase expression, the role of arginase in COPD is unknown. This study aimed to investigate the role of arginase in pulmonary inflammation and remodeling using an animal model of COPD. Guinea pigs were instilled intranasally with LPS or saline twice weekly for 12 weeks and pretreated by inhalation of the arginase inhibitor 2(S)-amino-6-boronohexanoic acid (ABH) or vehicle. Repeated LPS exposure increased lung arginase activity, resulting in increased l-ornithine/l-arginine and l-ornithine/l-citrulline ratios. Both ratios were reversed by ABH. ABH inhibited the LPS-induced increases in pulmonary IL-8, neutrophils, and goblet cells as well as airway fibrosis. Remarkably, LPS-induced right ventricular hypertrophy, indicative of pulmonary hypertension, was prevented by ABH. Strong correlations were found between arginase activity and inflammation, airway remodeling, and right ventricular hypertrophy. Increased arginase activity contributes to pulmonary inflammation, airway remodeling, and right ventricular hypertrophy in a guinea pig model of COPD, indicating therapeutic potential for arginase inhibitors in this disease.

Abstract
Bluetongue virus (BTV) is an insect vector transmitted virus which causes an economically important disease in ruminants. BTV infection during pregnancy can result in infection of the foetus, which may lead to the birth of persistently infected or immunotolerant offspring. Since persistently infected animals continuously produce large amounts of virus they could be a source of infection for the insect vector. This could significantly influence the epidemiology of the virus and hence might require additional measures to control a BTV outbreak. Therefore, we investigated the potential of BTV-8 to induce persistent infection or immunotolerance in lambs in an experimental setting. Infection of eighteen 70-75 days pregnant ewes with wild type BTV-8 led to the birth of 25 out of 44 BTV RNA positive lambs (foetal infected, FI). All 23 FI lambs born alive also had anti BTV antibodies at birth; infectious virus could be recovered from 5 out of 25 FI lambs. Viral RNA loads decreased rapidly after birth; 19 out of 20 FI lambs that remained in the experiment until week 14 after birth, were RNA negative at that time. Since persistence of BTV-8 infection could not be demonstrated, we investigated whether foetal infection had an effect on protection against a field virus infection and on efficacy of vaccination. To this end, 5 FI lambs and 5 foetal non-infected (FNI) lambs were vaccinated with the inactivated Bovilis(®) BTV-8 vaccine, five months after birth. Three weeks after the vaccination, all lambs were infected with wild type BTV-8. The foetal infection did not interfere with vaccination efficacy. In contrast, foetal BTV-8 infection induced an immune response which afforded protection against BTV challenge comparable to the level of protection induced by vaccination.

Abstract
Compact multi-frequency lasers are realized by combining III-V based optical amplifiers with silicon waveguide optical demultiplexers using a heterogeneous integration process based on adhesive wafer bonding. Both devices using arrayed waveguide grating routers as well as devices using ring resonators as the demultiplexer showed lasing with threshold currents between 30 and 40 mA and output powers in the order of a few mW. Laser operation up to 60°C is demonstrated. The small bending radius allowable for the silicon waveguides results in a short cavity length, ensuring stable lasing in a single longitudinal mode, even with relaxed values for the intra-cavity filter bandwidths.

Abstract
In Botswana, where one quarter of the adult population is infected with the human immunodeficiency virus and the annual tuberculosis (TB) incidence is among the highest globally, intensified TB case finding is needed in health care facilities to detect and treat TB cases early and prevent transmission. During August-December 2009, TB screening was implemented among adults at patient intake in five clinics in Francistown. Among 11 779 TB screenings at intake, 926 were positive. Nineteen patients were diagnosed with TB. Routine TB screening at intake was operationally feasible, but had low yield. Innovative case-finding strategies are needed in Botswana.

Abstract
Fibrosis is part of airway remodelling observed in bronchial asthma and COPD. Pro-fibrotic activity of lung fibroblasts may be suppressed by β-adrenoceptor activation. We aimed, first, to characterise the expression pattern of β-adrenoceptor subtypes in human lung fibroblasts and, second, to probe β-adrenoceptor signalling with an emphasis on anti-fibrotic actions. Using reverse transcription PCR, messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding β(2)-adrenoceptors was detected in MRC-5, HEL-299 and primary human lung fibroblasts, whereas transcripts for β(1)- and β(3)-adrenoceptors were not found. Real-time measurement of dynamic mass redistribution in MRC-5 cells revealed β-agonist-induced G(s)-signalling. Proliferation of MRC-5 cells (determined by [(3)H]-thymidine incorporation) was significantly inhibited by β-agonists including the β(2)-selective agonist formoterol (-logIC(50), 10.2) and olodaterol (-logIC(50), 10.6). Formoterol's effect was insensitive to β(1)-antagonism (GCP 20712, 3 μM), but sensitive to β(2)-antagonism (ICI 118,551; apparent, pA (2), 9.6). Collagen synthesis in MRC-5 cells (determined by [(3)H]-proline incorporation) was inhibited by β-agonists including formoterol (-logIC(50), 10.0) and olodaterol (-logIC(50), 10.3) in a β(2)-blocker-sensitive manner. α-Smooth muscle actin, a marker of myo-fibroblast differentiation, was down-regulated at the mRNA and the protein level by about 50% following 24 and 48 h exposure to 1 nM formoterol, a maximally active concentration. In conclusion, human lung fibroblasts exclusively express β(2)-adrenoceptors and these mediate inhibition of various markers of pro-fibrotic cellular activity. Under clinical conditions, anti-fibrotic actions may accompany the therapeutic effect of long-term β(2)-agonist treatment of bronchial asthma and COPD.

Abstract
Airway remodelling and emphysema are major structural abnormalities in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition, pulmonary vascular remodelling may occur and contribute to pulmonary hypertension, a comorbidity of COPD. Increased cholinergic activity in COPD contributes to airflow limitation and, possibly, to inflammation and airway remodelling. This study aimed to investigate the role of acetylcholine in pulmonary inflammation and remodelling using an animal model of COPD. To this aim, guinea pigs were instilled intranasally with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) twice weekly for 12 weeks and were treated, by inhalation, with the long-acting muscarinic receptor antagonist tiotropium. Repeated LPS exposure induced airway and parenchymal neutrophilia, and increased goblet cell numbers, lung hydroxyproline content, airway wall collagen and airspace size. Furthermore, LPS increased the number of muscularised microvessels in the adventitia of cartilaginous airways. Tiotropium abrogated the LPS-induced increase in neutrophils, goblet cells, collagen deposition and muscularised microvessels, but had no effect on emphysema. In conclusion, tiotropium inhibits remodelling of the airways as well as pulmonary inflammation in a guinea pig model of COPD, suggesting that endogenous acetylcholine plays a major role in the pathogenesis of this disease.

Abstract
A growing interest exists in the measuring of social adaptive functioning in children with mild to borderline intellectual disabilities (MBID), but valid instruments to measure this construct are lacking. The aim of the present study was to develop such an instrument and to examine it on its discriminate validity. In 141 children aged 8-12 years a new test battery was examined in four groups either with MBID, behaviour problems or both, and typically developing peers. The results show that children with either MBID or behaviour problems or both show more hostile intent attributions, set more internal revenge goals, generate more aggressive and fewer assertive responses, feel more confident in inadequate responses en select fewer assertive responses, than their typically developing peers. Children with MBID are characterized by relying on earlier experiences in encoding information, a small response repertoire, positive evaluation of submissive but not assertive responses, and the selection of aggressive responses. In addition, they have more problems with perspective taking, problem recognition, interpretation in general, inhibition, working memory, and emotion recognition, than their typically developing peers. Further, children with MBID and behaviour problems have more difficulties in social information processing when the information in social situations is more complex. It is concluded that the tasks of the test battery can discriminate between groups, and after further development of the material, can be used to obtain information on the competencies and disabilities in social information processing and social cognitive skills, in order to be able to offer adequate treatment to these children.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We assessed sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) in cancer patients before and after treatment to evaluate if sperm DNA integrity is compromised by cancer itself or its treatment. METHODS In a prospective study, DFI was assessed in 127 patients diagnosed with testicular germ cell tumours (TGCT), Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and various malignancies. The severity of cancer and tumour markers at diagnosis was recorded. Follow-up DFI after treatment was available in 52 patients who were mostly less severely affected. RESULTS In patients diagnosed with TGCT, HL and various malignancies, pretreatment DFI levels were not significantly different from that of proven fertile controls, but in patients with NHL an increased DFI was found. An overall significant decrease in post-treatment DFI (13.2% range 5.0-70.5) compared with pretreatment values (17.1% range 5.1-66.6) was found (P = 0.040). In TGCT patients, post-treatment DFI was significantly higher in patients who were treated with radiotherapy (16.9% range 11.5-39.9) compared with that in patients treated with chemotherapy (CT) alone (10.9% range 5.5-39.9) (P = 0.037). In HL patients, the type of treatment or number of CT cycles was not associated with DFI. Overall, post-treatment DFI in cancer patients was not significantly different from that of proven fertile controls. CONCLUSIONS In this study, the presence of cancer does not seem to negatively affect the sperm DNA integrity in TGCT and HL patients; only NHL patients showed increased DFI at the time of diagnosis compared with healthy controls. Our results confirm previous reports that DFI decreases significantly following various anti-cancer treatments. In contrast, radiotherapy in TGCT patients is associated with an increase in DFI compared with CT treatment alone.

Abstract
Determination of sperm DNA fragmentation, as assessed by the sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA), has become an important tool for the evaluation of semen quality. The aim of the present study was to describe the biological variation of sperm DNA fragmentation in men attending an andrology clinic and to identify clinical correlates of the biological variation of sperm DNA fragmentation. For this study, two consecutive semen samples from 100 patients attending our andrology outpatient clinic were subjected to semen analysis, performed in parallel according to WHO guidelines and by SCSA. A good agreement between pairs of samples was found for SCSA-derived variables, as indicated by a significantly lower median coefficient of variation (CV) of the DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI) and the high DNA stainability (HDS) compared with WHO semen parameters. In half of the men attending our andrology clinic, however, the individual biological variation of DFI and HDS, expressed as CV of two samples, exceeded 10%. Dysregulation of spermatogenesis, as seen as testicular insufficiency or varicocele, was not associated with increased variability of DFI or HDS. A backward multiple linear regression analysis, however, indicated that the biological variation of DFI may be more profound in men with characteristics of normal spermatogenesis. In conclusion, we confirm previous reports that sperm DNA fragmentation has a lower biological variability than classical semen parameters. We hypothesize that the sperm chromatin structure may be more influenced in patients with normal spermatogenesis, whereas in men with disturbed spermatogenesis, the chromatin structure may be already so impaired that the effect of unidentified factors leading to variability of sperm DNA fragmentation in time may not be as profound.

Abstract
Laser emission from an InP/InGaAsP thin film epitaxial layer bonded to a Silicon-on-Insulator waveguide circuit was observed. Adhesive bonding using divinyl-tetramethyldisiloxane-benzocyclobutene (DVS-BCB) was used to integrate the InP/InGaAsP epitaxial layers onto the waveguide circuit. Light is coupled from the laser diode into an underlying waveguide using an adiabatic inverted taper approach. 0.9mW optical power was coupled into the SOI waveguide using a 500mum long laser. Besides for use as a laser diode, the same type of devices can be used as a photodetector. 50mum long devices obtained a responsivity of 0.23A/W.
