The Mizoroki-Heck reaction between in situ generated alkenes and aryl halides: cross-coupling route to substituted olefins

This review covers palladium-catalyzed typical Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions of aryl halides with in situ generated alkenes, by following a typical Heck coupling mechanism to form substituted olefins unlike direct cross-coupling of alkenes with aryl halides in Heck olefination. These reactions solve the issue of alkenes undergoing polymerization at high temperatures and increase reaction efficiency by reducing the reaction time and purification steps.

Science through the Lens of Nature: Recent Advances in Biomimetic Approach towards Pesticide Degradation

Pesticides are widely used to prevent bug infestation in agricultural crops and to get rid of other pests and disease-carrying creatures including mice, rats, ticks, and mosquitoes from various environment and h In response to this environmental and human health hazard, a dire need for remediation has emerged in the last few decades. Green approaches for the remediation of pesticides can boost sustainable development. A biomimetic approach for degradation of pesticides can have high potential to generate ripples of positive outcomes. Biomimetic catalysts are synthetic chemical molecules which have been inspired by natural processes to mimic their structural and functional properties. This short review concisely focuses on the synthesis of various biomimetic catalysts including metal-based materials, carbon-based materials and others. In this context, recent advances achieved by such biomimetic catalysts for the degradation of pesticides have been covered. It highlights the importance of adopting a biomimetic approach as it provides a green and efficient method for pesticides degradation

An Insight of Nanomaterials in Tissue Engineering from Fabrication to Applications

Tissue engineering is a research domain that deals with the growth of various kinds of tissues with the help of synthetic composites. With the culmination of nanotechnology and bioengineering, tissue engineering has emerged as an exciting domain. Recent literature describes its various applications in biomedical and biological sciences, such as facilitating the growth of tissue and organs, gene delivery, biosensor-based detection, etc. It deals with the development of biomimetics to repair, restore, maintain and amplify or strengthen several biological functions at the level of tissue and organs. Herein, the synthesis of nanocomposites based on polymers, along with their classification as conductive hydrogels and bioscaffolds, is comprehensively discussed. Furthermore, their implementation in numerous tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications is also described. The limitations of tissue engineering are also discussed here. The present review highlights and summarizes the latest progress in the tissue engineering domain directed at functionalized nanomaterials.
