Abstract
The clinical data of 7 patients diagnosed with mixed neuroendocrine-nonneuroendocrine neoplasm were analyzed in the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2022. Among the 7 patients, 5 were male and 2 were female, with an average age of 59.3 years. Its clinical characteristics are similar to malignant ampulla tumors, and it is difficult to differentiate them. The preoperative puncture biopsy positivity rate is low, making it difficult to diagnose preoperatively, and the prognosis is worse.Comprehensive treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy can be the preferred treatment option for this disease.

Abstract
Three ΔI=1 bands with the πg_{9/2}⊗νg_{9/2} configuration have been identified in _{35}^{74}Br_{39}. Angular distribution, linear polarization, and lifetime measurements were performed to determine the multipolarity, type, mixing ratio, and absolute transition probability of the transitions. By comparing these experimental observations with the corresponding fingerprints and the quantum particle rotor model calculations, the second and third lowest bands are, respectively, suggested as the chiral partner and one-phonon wobbling excitation built on the yrast band. The evidence indicates the first chiral wobbler in nuclei.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the impact of lifestyle, apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene, and their interaction on the risk for cognitive frailty in the elderly population in China. Methods: The study participants were from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. The information about their lifestyles were collected by questionnaire survey, and a weighted lifestyle score was constructed based on β coefficients associated with specific lifestyles to assess the combined lifestyle. ApoE genotypes were assessed by rs429358 and rs7412 single nucleotide polymorphisms. Cognitive frailty was assessed based on cognitive function and physical frailty. Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to analyze the association of lifestyle and ApoE gene with the risk for cognitive frailty and evaluate the multiplicative and additive interactions between lifestyle and ApoE gene. Results: A total of 5 676 elderly persons, with median age [M (Q1, Q3)] of 76 (68, 85) years, were included, in whom 615 had cognitive frailty. The analysis by Cox proportional hazards regression model indicated that moderate and high levels of dietary diversity could reduce the risk for cognitive frailty by 18% [hazard ratio (HR)=0.82, 95%CI: 0.68-1.00] and 28% (HR=0.72, 95%CI: 0.57-0.91), respectively; moderate and high levels of physical activity could reduce the risk by 31% (HR=0.69, 95%CI: 0.56-0.85) and 23% (HR=0.77, 95%CI: 0.64-0.93), respectively. Healthy lifestyle was associated with a 40% reduced risk for cognitive frailty (HR=0.60, 95%CI: 0.46-0.78). ApoE ε4 allele was associated with a 26% increased risk for cognitive frailty (HR=1.26, 95%CI: 1.02-1.56). No multiplicative or additive interactions were found between lifestyle and ApoE gene. Conclusions: Dietary diversity and regular physical activity have protective effects against cognitive frailty in elderly population. Healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk for cognitive frailty in elderly population regardless of ApoE ε4 allele carriage status.

Abstract
Milk proteins can be used as encapsulation walls to increase the bioavailability of active compounds because they can bind hydrophobic, hydrophilic, and charged compounds. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of astaxanthin (ASTA) encapsulation and the functional properties of milk protein and ASTA nanocomposites by an ultrasound-assisted pH-shifting treatment of different milk proteins, including milk protein concentrate (MPC), micellar casein (MCC), and whey protein isolate (WPI). The ultrasound-assisted pH-shifting treatment of milk protein helped to improve the encapsulation rate of ASTA. Therein, MCC showed great improvement of encapsulating ASTA after co-treatment with the raised encapsulated rate of 5.11%, followed by WPI and MPC. Furthermore, the nanocomposites of ASTA with milk protein exhibit improved bioavailability, antioxidant capacity, and storage stability. By comparison, MCC-encapsulated ASTA has the best storage stability, followed by MPC, and WPI-encapsulated ASTA has the least stability over a 28-d storage period. The results of intrinsic fluorescence and surface hydrophobicity showed that milk protein underwent fluorescence quenching after binding to ASTA, which was due to the hydrophobic sites of the protein being occupied by ASTA. In general, the nanocomposites of milk protein and ASTA fabricated by using an ultrasound-assisted pH-shifting treatment have the potential to be better nano-delivery systems for ASTA in functional foods, especially MCC, which showed excellent performance in encapsulation after treatment technique.

Abstract
We report here the first observation of the 0_{2}^{+} state of ^{8}He, which has been predicted to feature the condensatelike α+^{2}n+^{2}n cluster structure. We show that this state is characterized by a spin parity of 0^{+}, a large isoscalar monopole transition strength, and the emission of a strongly correlated neutron pair, in line with theoretical predictions. Our finding is further supported by the state-of-the-art microscopic α+4n model calculations. The present results may lead to new insights into clustering in neutron-rich nuclear systems and the pair correlation and condensation in quantum many-body systems under strong interactions.

Abstract
A 56-year-old male patient sought medical attention due to a gradual decline in bilateral visual acuity, which had been ongoing for a year and had rapidly worsened over the past three months. He received an initial diagnosis of bilateral concurrent cataracts and bilateral anterior megalophthalmos. Subsequently, cataract removal surgery was performed. During the surgery, it was observed that the patient had lax and fragile zonules of the crystalline lens. To address this issue, the surgical team employed reverse optic capture technique for the implantation of a three-piece intraocular lens. Following the surgery, the patient experienced a substantial improvement in uncorrected visual acuity. Remarkably, the patient remained free from adverse reactions, such as elevated intraocular pressure, during a follow-up period extending to 11 years.

Abstract
Clear lens exchange (CLE) boasts a venerable lineage, its prominence in the field of ophthalmology having incrementally solidified over recent decades, concomitant with the evolution of surgical techniques and the innovation of intraocular lens materials. CLE has assumed a pivotal role in the therapeutic armamentarium for conditions such as glaucoma, high myopia, and presbyopia. Nevertheless, it remains that the sacrifice of accommodation, potentialities of intraoperative and postoperative complications, and less than optimal results in terms of spectacle independence resulting from CLE are not infrequent occurrences. The indiscriminate pursuit of this surgical intervention is inadvisable. It is only by means of a sagacious appreciation of the merits and demerits of CLE, the judicious circumscription of its indicatory ambit, and the bespoke selection of surgical modalities catering to the individual patient, that the superlative outcomes in the realms of surgical efficacy, safety, and patient contentment may be attained.

Abstract
We present the precision measurements of 11 years of daily cosmic positron fluxes in the rigidity range from 1.00 to 41.9 GV based on 3.4×10^{6} positrons collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The positron fluxes show distinctly different time variations from the electron fluxes at short and long timescales. A hysteresis between the electron fluxes and the positron fluxes is observed with a significance greater than 5σ at rigidities below 8.5 GV. On the contrary, the positron fluxes and the proton fluxes show similar time variation. Remarkably, we found that positron fluxes are modulated more than proton fluxes with a significance greater than 5σ for rigidities below 7 GV. These continuous daily positron fluxes, together with AMS daily electron, proton, and helium fluxes over an 11-year solar cycle, provide unique input to the understanding of both the charge-sign and mass dependencies of cosmic rays in the heliosphere.

Abstract
To explore the effect of exogenous plant hormone spraying on the absorption of heavy metals by hyperaccumulated plants, Bidens pilosa L. was selected as the tested plant owing to the large biomass, short growth cycle, and high accumulation efficiency. Here, the effect of foliar spraying 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA), salicylic acid (SA), and 24-epi-brassinosteroid (24-EBR) on the remediation of cadmium (Cd)-contaminated soil by B. pilosa L. was examined. The results showed:① the efficiency of the remediation in Cd-contaminated soil by B. pilosa L. was effectively enhanced after the spraying of all three kinds of exogenous plant hormones with appropriate concentrations. The spraying of the three exogenous plant hormones could promote the cadmium concentration in the leaves of B. pilosa L. to increase by 4.21%, 31.79%, and 14.89%; promote the translocation factor (TF) to increase by 9.67%, 18.83%, and 17.85%; promote the phytoextraction rates (PR) to increase by 15.36%, 32.33%, and 64.38%, respectively. ② The growth of B. pilosa L. was significantly promoted after the spraying of the three kinds of exogenous plant hormones with appropriate concentrations. The spraying of the three exogenous plant hormones could promote plant growth under cadmium stress, and the dry weight of the plant root, stem, and leaf was increased by 37.53%, 74.50%, and 104.02%, respectively. ③ The photosynthesis of B. pilosa L. was significantly enhanced after the spraying of the three kinds of exogenous plant hormones with appropriate concentrations. The chlorophyll concentration of the plant was significantly increased after foliar spraying with plant hormones, and the concentration of chlorophyll a was increased by 79.31%, 92.27%, and 51.12%; the photochemical quenching coefficient (qP) was increased by 11.32%, 89.16%, and 78.43%; and the non-photochemical quenching coefficient (NPQ) was increased by 51.71%, 241.12%, and 27.85%, respectively, after foliar spraying with appropriate concentrations of 6-BA, SA, and 24-EBR. ④ The antioxidant capacity of B. pilosa L. was significantly strengthened after the spraying of the three kinds of exogenous plant hormones with appropriate concentrations. The malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration of the plant was reduced by 62.41%, 68.67%, and 46.76% after the application of 6-BA, SA, and 24-EBR, respectively. Meanwhile, superoxide dismutase (SOD) was increased by 68.33%, 10.28%, and 6.17%, and catalase (CAT) was increased by 31.43%, 37.87%, and 37.31%, respectively. Generally, the spraying of exogenous 6-BA, SA, and 24-EBR with the appropriate concentration under Cd stress could significantly increase the biomass of B. pilosa L. and promote the accumulation of heavy metals in the plant, improve the photosynthetic ability of the plant, reduce the oxidative damage of the plant under heavy metal stress, enhance the antioxidant capacity, and improve the absorption and tolerance of plants to Cd. It also could promote the transfer of Cd from roots to shoots, improve the phytoextraction rates of Cd from the plant, and effectively strengthen the phytoremediation efficiency. Among them, 30 mg·L-1 SA foliar spraying had the best effect.

Examining the Efficacy and Safety Profile of Palliative Radiotherapy Using 30 Gy in 5 Fractions. Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2023; 117:e129. Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Higher biological equivalent doses of radiotherapy (RT) can improve symptom palliation and local control in select tumor sites. However, not all patients meet criteria for treatment with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). Furthermore, SABR is a resource intensive technique which may limit its use in many centers. The 30 Gray in 5 fractions regimen (30/5) stems from a modification of 5-fraction SABR regimens. It is a conformal, homogenous hypo-fractionated regimen that delivers higher dose than conventional palliative RT while still respecting the normal tissue constraints for 5-fraction SABR. It uses streamlined contouring and planning with less stringent requirements for immobilization and image guidance, compared to what is required for SABR. This study evaluates the clinical outcomes of patients receiving 30/5. MATERIALS/METHODS A single institution retrospective review of clinical and treatment data was performed for patients who received 30/5 from October 2020 to August 2022. Local control (LC) was calculated for all treatment courses. Distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) were calculated for all patients. Survival analyses were analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and curves compared by log-rank test. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using cox-regression analysis. RESULTS A total of 77 patients and 92 courses of 30/5 were available for analysis. The most common primary tumor was lung (44%), followed by gastrointestinal (GI; 20%), breast (10%), and genitourinary (10%). The median age of patients was 64 years (range: 37-93). The median tumor size treated was 11.4 cm^3 (range: 0.3 - 210.9 cm^3). Treatment sites included lung (31%), lymph nodes (22%), non-spine bone (20%), and spine (15%). At median follow-up of 10.1 months (mo), 25 deaths occurred. Median LC after receiving 30/5 was 18.5 mo (95% CI: 15.7-21.3 mo), median DMFS was 6.6 months (95% CI: 4.6-8.6 mo), median PFS was 6.4 mo (95% CI: 4.9-8.0 mo), and median OS was 18.1 mo (95% CI: 13.1-23.1 mo). Median time to initiating, restarting, or changing systemic therapy was 12.8 mo (95% CI: 7.6-18.0 mo). Radiosensitive (lung, prostate, breast, gynecological, and head/neck) tumors had better LC than radioresistant (GI, renal cell, sarcoma, melanoma) tumors (median 20.9 vs 12.1 mo, p < 0.02). Six grade 2 toxicities occurred (6.5% of all treatments). No grade 3 or higher toxicities occurred. CONCLUSION The 30/5 regimen is a safe, well-tolerated, and resource efficient regimen with effective local control. This may serve as a practical alternative for patients who require palliative RT but not optimal candidates for SABR. As expected, radiosensitive tumors had better local control than radioresistant tumors. Future research can further explore the safety, efficacy, and indications of 30/5 as a palliative RT option.

Abstract
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain tumor with a poor prognosis. The growth of GBM cells depends on the core transcriptional apparatus, thus rendering RNA polymerase (RNA pol) complex as a candidate therapeutic target. The RNA pol II subunit B (POLR2B) gene encodes the second largest subunit of the RNA pol II (RPB2); however, its genomic status and function in GBM remain unclear. Certain GBM data sets in cBioPortal were used for investigating the genomic status and expression of POLR2B in GBM. The function of RPB2 was analyzed following knockdown of POLR2B expression by shRNA in GBM cells. The cell counting kit-8 assay and PI staining were used for cell proliferation and cell cycle analysis. A xenograft mouse model was established to analyze the function of RPB2 in vivo. RNA sequencing was performed to analyze the RPB2-regulated genes. GO and GSEA analyses were applied to investigate the RPB2-regulated gene function and associated pathways. In the present study, the genomic alteration and overexpression of the POLR2B gene was described in glioblastoma. The data indicated that knockdown of POLR2B expression suppressed tumor cell growth of glioblastoma in vitro and in vivo. The analysis further demonstrated the identification of the RPB2-regulated gene sets and highlighted the DNA damage-inducible transcript 4 gene as the downstream target of the POLR2B gene. The present study provides evidence indicating that RPB2 functions as a growth regulator in glioblastoma and could be used as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of this disease.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the status quo, differences and influencing factors of health concern among the elderly in urban and rural areas. Methods: The data of China Health and Retirement Tracking Survey (CHARLS) in 2018 were used to describe the health concerns of the elderly in urban and rural areas by selecting relevant indicators. The differences of health concerns of the elderly in urban and rural areas were compared from two aspects of social demographic characteristics and health status. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the factors affecting the health concern of the elderly in urban and rural areas. Results: A total of 7 758 urban and rural elderly were included, including 1 913 urban elderly and 5 845 rural elderly. Half (3 899, 50.3%) of the elderly are at the average level of health concern, and there is a difference between urban and rural elderly (χ2=186.61,P<0.05). The rural and urban elderly with different characteristics had different health concerns. The rural elderly with more than two diseases had higher health concerns (χ2=13.71, P=0.001), and different living types of urban elderly people have different health concerns (χ2=28.96, P<0.001). Regression analysis showed that the health concern of the elderly in urban and rural areas was affected by many factors, gender (OR=1.51, P<0.001), health status (OR=2.18, P<0.001), cognitive function impairment (OR=2.93, P<0.001), depression (OR=0.49, P<0.001) is the main factor affecting the difference of health attention of the elderly in urban and rural areas. Whether to receive pension was the influential factor of health concern of the rural elderly (OR=0.63, P<0.05); Disability was an influential factor in the health concern of the urban elderly (OR=2.11, P<0.05). Conclusion: There is much room to improve the health attention of the elderly in urban and rural areas. It is suggested to increase the economic security of the elderly in rural areas and pay special attention to the disabled elderly in urban areas, so as to further improve the health status of the elderly groups.

Discrete unified gas-kinetic wave-particle method for flows in all flow regimes. Phys Rev E 2023; 108:015302. Abstract
This work proposes a discrete unified gas-kinetic wave-particle (DUGKWP) method for simulation of flows in all flow regimes. Unlike the discrete velocity method (DVM) and the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method which solve the governing equations by either the deterministic method or the stochastic method, the DUGKWP combines the advantages of these two methods. In the DUGKWP, the information of microscopic particles as well as macroscopic flow variables are both evolved. Specifically, the microscopic particles are updated by the free-transport and resampling processes, while the macroscopic flow properties are evolved via solving the macroscopic governing equations of conservation laws with the finite volume method. According to the discrete characteristic solution to the Boltzmann-BGK equation utilized in the DUGKWP, in the highly rarefied flow regime, the motion of microscopic particles greatly determines the fluxes for the macroscopic governing equations. Conversely, for the continuum flow, no microscopic particle exists in the computational domain and the DUGKWP is degraded to the Navier-Stokes solver. Numerical studies validate that the DUGKWP can accurately predict the flow properties in all flow regimes. Furthermore, compared with the deterministic method, the DUGKWP enjoys superior efficiency with less memory consumption for both high-speed rarefied flows and flows close to the continuum regime.

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of a second allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) with reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) in patients with hematological malignancies who had relapsed after the first allo-HSCT. Methods: Between April 2018 and June 2021, 44 patients with hematological malignancies (B-ALL 23, T-ALL/T-LBL 4, AML15, and MDS 2) were enrolled and retrospectively examined. Unrelated donors (n=12) or haploidentical donors (n=32) were used. Donors were replaced in all patients for the second allo-HSCT. Hematological and immunological germline predisposition genes and hematopoietic and immune function tests were used to select the best-related donor. Total body irradiation (TBI) /fludarabine (FLU) -based (n=38), busulfan (BU) /FLU-based (n=4), total marrow irradiation (TMI) /FLU-based (n=1), and BU/cladribine-based (n=1) were the RIC regimens used. For graft versus host disease (GVHD) prevention, cyclosporine, mycophenolate mofetil, short-term methotrexate, and ATG were used. Eighteen (40.9%) of 44 patients with gene variations for which targeted medications are available underwent post-transplant maintenance therapy. Results: The median age was 25 years old (range: 7-55). The median interval between the first and second HSCT was 19.5 months (range: 6-77). Before the second allo-HSCT, 33 (75%) of the patients were in complete remission (CR), whereas 11 (25%) were not. All patients had long-term engraftment. The grade Ⅱ-Ⅳ GVHD and severe acute GVHD rates were 20.5% and 9.1%, respectively. Chronic GVHD was found in 20.5% of limited patterns and 22.7% of severe patterns. CMV and EBV reactivation rates were 29.5% and 6.8%, respectively. Hemorrhage cystitis occurred in 15.9% of cases, grade Ⅰ or Ⅱ. The 1-yr disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and cumulative recurrence incidence (RI) rates of all patients were 72.5% (95% CI, 54.5%-84.3%), 80.6% (95% CI, 63.4%-90.3%), and 25.1% (95% CI, 13.7%-43.2%), respectively, with a median follow-up of 14 (2-39) months. There were eight deaths (seven relapses and one infection). The rate of non-relapse mortality (NRM) was only 2.3%. The CR patients' 1-yr RI rate was significantly lower than the NR patients (16.8% vs 48.1%, P=0.026). The DFS rate in CR patients was greater than in NR patients, although there was no statistical difference (79.9% vs 51.9%, P=0.072). Univariate analysis revealed that CR before the second allo-HSCT was an important prognostic factor. Conclusion: With our RIC regimens, donor change, and post-transplant maintenance therapy, the second allo-HSCT in relapsed hematological malignancies after the first allo-HSCT is a safe and effective treatment with high OS and DFS and low NRM and relapse rate. The most important factor influencing the prognosis of the second allo-HSCT is the patient's illness condition before the transplant.

Properties of Cosmic-Ray Sulfur and Determination of the Composition of Primary Cosmic-Ray Carbon, Neon, Magnesium, and Sulfur: Ten-Year Results from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:211002. Abstract
We report the properties of primary cosmic-ray sulfur (S) in the rigidity range 2.15 GV to 3.0 TV based on 0.38×10^{6} sulfur nuclei collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment (AMS). We observed that above 90 GV the rigidity dependence of the S flux is identical to the rigidity dependence of Ne-Mg-Si fluxes, which is different from the rigidity dependence of the He-C-O-Fe fluxes. We found that, similar to N, Na, and Al cosmic rays, over the entire rigidity range, the traditional primary cosmic rays S, Ne, Mg, and C all have sizeable secondary components, and the S, Ne, and Mg fluxes are well described by the weighted sum of the primary silicon flux and the secondary fluorine flux, and the C flux is well described by the weighted sum of the primary oxygen flux and the secondary boron flux. The primary and secondary contributions of the traditional primary cosmic-ray fluxes of C, Ne, Mg, and S (even Z elements) are distinctly different from the primary and secondary contributions of the N, Na, and Al (odd Z elements) fluxes. The abundance ratio at the source for S/Si is 0.167±0.006, for Ne/Si is 0.833±0.025, for Mg/Si is 0.994±0.029, and for C/O is 0.836±0.025. These values are determined independent of cosmic-ray propagation.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the association between sleep duration and the risk of frailty among the elderly over 80 years old in China. Methods: Using the data from five surveys of the China Elderly Health Influencing Factors Follow-up Survey (CLHLS) (2005, 2008-2009, 2011-2012, 2014, and 2017-2018), 7 024 elderly people aged 80 years and above were selected as the study subjects. Questionnaires and physical examinations were used to collect information on sleep time, general demographic characteristics, functional status, physical signs, and illness. The frailty state was evaluated based on a frailty index that included 39 variables. The Cox proportional risk regression model was used to analyze the correlation between sleep time and the risk of frailty occurrence. A restricted cubic spline function was used to analyze the dose-response relationship between sleep time and the risk of frailty occurrence. The likelihood ratio test was used to analyze the interaction between age, gender, sleep quality, cognitive impairment, and sleep duration. Results: The age M (Q1, Q3) of 7 024 subjects was 87 (82, 92) years old, with a total of 3 435 (48.9%) patients experiencing frailty. The results of restricted cubic spline function analysis showed that there was an approximate U-shaped relationship between sleep time and the risk of frailty. When sleep time was 6.5-8.5 hours, the elderly had the lowest risk of frailty; Multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model analysis showed that compared to 6.5-8.5 hours of sleep, long sleep duration (>8.5 hours) increased the risk of frailty by 13% (HR: 1.13; 95%CI: 1.04-1.22). Conclusion: There is a nonlinear association between sleep time and the risk of frailty in the elderly.

Abstract
We present the precision measurements of 11 years of daily cosmic electron fluxes in the rigidity interval from 1.00 to 41.9 GV based on 2.0×10^{8} electrons collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The electron fluxes exhibit variations on multiple timescales. Recurrent electron flux variations with periods of 27 days, 13.5 days, and 9 days are observed. We find that the electron fluxes show distinctly different time variations from the proton fluxes. Remarkably, a hysteresis between the electron flux and the proton flux is observed with a significance of greater than 6σ at rigidities below 8.5 GV. Furthermore, significant structures in the electron-proton hysteresis are observed corresponding to sharp structures in both fluxes. This continuous daily electron data provide unique input to the understanding of the charge sign dependence of cosmic rays over an 11-year solar cycle.

Measurement of the ^{18}O(α, γ)^{22}Ne Reaction Rate at JUNA and Its Impact on Probing the Origin of SiC Grains. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:092701. Abstract
The ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction is critical for AGB star nucleosynthesis due to its connection to the abundances of several key isotopes, such as ^{21}Ne and ^{22}Ne. However, the ambiguous resonance energy and spin-parity of the dominant 470 keV resonance leads to substantial uncertainty in the ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction rate for the temperature of interest. We have measured the resonance energies and strengths of the low-energy resonances in ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne at the Jinping Underground Nuclear Astrophysics experimental facility (JUNA) with improved precision. The key 470 keV resonance energy has been measured to be E_{α}=474.0±1.1 keV, with such high precision achieved for the first time. The spin-parity of this resonance state is determined to be 1^{-}, removing discrepancies in the resonance strengths in earlier studies. The results significantly improve the precision of the ^{18}O(α,γ)^{22}Ne reaction rates by up to about 10 times compared with the previous data at typical AGB temperatures of 0.1-0.3 GK. We demonstrate that such improvement leads to precise ^{21}Ne abundance predictions, with an impact on probing the origin of meteoritic stardust SiC grains from AGB stars.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical safety and efficacy of toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation for more than 5 years. Methods: This study was a prospective cohort study in which subjects were continuously observed over a two-year period (May 2014 to May 2016) in nine hospitals. The study randomly assigned subjects to two groups using a central dynamic randomization system: the study group, which received Proming® IQ toric IOL implants, and the control group, which received AcrySof® IQ toric IOL implants. The subjects completed a one-year follow-up, during which various measures were taken and evaluated, including visual acuity, IOL rotation, postoperative complications, intraocular pressure, and subjective evaluation (preoperatively and at 1 day, 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years post-surgery). The main statistical analysis methods include the Mann-Whitney U test, independent sample t-test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, paired sample t-test, chi-square test, and Fisher's exact test. Results: A total of 45 eyes (26 in the study group and 19 in the control group) completed the five-year continuous observation period. The mean age of the subjects was (72.07±10.67) years and the mean interval from surgery to the last visit was (5.39±0.47) years. After five years, there were no significant differences in uncorrected distance visual acuity (0.20±0.26 vs. 0.16±0.13, t=0.17,P=0.752), best corrected distance visual acuity[0.00(0.00, 0.20) vs. 0.05±0.10, U=188.00, P=0.880], uncorrected near visual acuity[0.50 (0.20, 0.60) vs. 0.42±0.20, t=0.35, P=0.857], and best corrected near visual acuity (0.13±0.16 vs. 0.17±0.23, U=161.00, P=0.884) between the two groups. However, all measures improved significantly from baseline levels in both groups (all P<0.05). Five years after surgery, no matter objective refraction [(-0.67±0.85) D vs. (-0.73±1.08)D] or subjective refraction[-0.50 (-1.00, 0.00)D vs. (0.69±0.87)D], the degree of cylindrical degree is significantly lower than preoperative corneal astigmatism [(1.27±0.49) D vs. (1.34±0.82) D, all P<0.001]. In addition, there were no significant differences in intraocular pressure, subjective evaluation of visual adverse symptoms, distance vision spectacle independence, or overall satisfaction evaluation between the two groups (all P>0.05). The IOL rotation was 3.0°(1.0°, 6.0°) in the study group and 4.0°(2.0°, 6.0°)in the control group (U=185.50,P=0.574), indicating no significant difference between the groups in terms of rotational stability. Five years after surgery, there were 7 cases of posterior capsular opacification in the study group and 4 cases in the control group. There were no cases of IOL glistening in the study group, but 5 cases (26.32%) were observed in the control group. Conclusions: The long-term effects of Proming® toric IOL implantation in correcting cataracts with regular corneal astigmatism are clear after five years, with few complications and stable results.

Abstract
β decay of proton-rich nuclei plays an important role in exploring isospin mixing. The β decay of ^{26}P at the proton drip line is studied using double-sided silicon strip detectors operating in conjunction with high-purity germanium detectors. The T=2 isobaric analog state (IAS) at 13 055 keV and two new high-lying states at 13 380 and 11 912 keV in ^{26}Si are unambiguously identified through β-delayed two-proton emission (β2p). Angular correlations of two protons emitted from ^{26}Si excited states populated by ^{26}P β decay are measured, which suggests that the two protons are emitted mainly sequentially. We report the first observation of a strongly isospin-mixed doublet that deexcites mainly via two-proton decay. The isospin mixing matrix element between the ^{26}Si IAS and the nearby 13 380-keV state is determined to be 130(21) keV, and this result represents the strongest mixing, highest excitation energy, and largest level spacing of a doublet ever observed in β-decay experiments.

Abstract
Background Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a myeloid neoplasm makes up 7.6% of hematopoietic malignancies. Super-enhancers (SEs) represent a special group of enhancers, which have been reported in multiple cell types. In this study, we explored super-enhancer profiling through ChIP-Seq analysis of AML samples and AML cell lines, followed by functional analysis. Methods ChIP-seq analysis for H3K27ac was performed in 11 AML samples, 7 T-ALL samples, 8 B-ALL samples, and in NB4 cell line. Genes and pathways affected by GNE-987 treatment were identified by gene expression analysis using RNA-seq. One of the genes associated with super-enhancer and affected by GNE-987 treatment was LYL1 basic helix-loop-helix family member (LYL1). shRNA mediated gene interference was used to down-regulate the expression of LYL1 in AML cell lines, and knockdown efficiency was detected by RT-qPCR and western blotting. The effect of knockdown on the growth of AML cell lines was evaluated by CCK-8. Western blotting was used to detect PARP cleavage, and flow cytometry were used to determine the effect of knockdown on apoptosis of AML cells. Results We identified a total of 200 genes which were commonly associated with super-enhancers in ≧10 AML samples, and were found enriched in regulation of transcription. Using the BRD4 inhibitor GNE-987, we assessed the dependence of AML cells on transcriptional activation for growth and found GNE-987 treatment predominantly inhibits cell growth in AML cells. Moreover, 20 candidate genes were selected by super-enhancer profile and gene expression profile and among which LYL1 was observed to promote cell growth and survival in human AML cells. Conclusions In summary, we identified 200 common super-enhancer-associated genes in AML samples, and a series of those genes are cancer genes. We also found GNE-987 treatment downregulates the expression of super-enhancer-associated genes in AML cells, including the expression of LYL1. Further functional analysis indicated that LYL1 is required for AML cell growth and survival. These findings promote understanding of AML pathophysiology and elucidated an important role of LYL1 in AML progression. Abstract
Objective: To summarize the management and short-term outcomes of neonates delivered by mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant. Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 158 neonates born to mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant admitted to the isolation ward of Children's Hospital of Fudan University from March 15th, 2022 to May 30th, 2022. The postnatal infection control measures for these neonates, and their clinical characteristics and short-term outcomes were analyzed. They were divided into maternal symptomatic group and maternal asymptomatic group according to whether their mothers had SARS-CoV-2 symptoms. The clinical outcomes were compared between the 2 groups using Rank sum test and Chi-square test. Results: All neonates were under strict infection control measures at birth and after birth. Of the 158 neonates, 75 (47.5%) were male. The gestational age was (38+3±1+3) weeks and the birth weight was (3 201±463)g. Of the neonates included, ten were preterm (6.3%) and the minimum gestational age was 30+1 weeks. Six neonates (3.8%) had respiratory difficulty and 4 of them were premature and required mechanical ventilation. All 158 neonates were tested negative for SARS-COV-2 nucleic acid by daily nasal swabs for the first 7 days. A total of 156 mothers (2 cases of twin pregnancy) infected with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant, the time from confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection to delivery was 7 (3, 12) days. Among them, 88 cases (56.4%) showed clinical symptoms, but none needed intensive care treatment. The peripheral white blood cell count of the neonates in maternal symptomatic group was significantly higher than that in maternal symptomatic group (23.0 (18.7, 28.0) × 109 vs. 19.6 (15.4, 36.6) × 109/L, Z=2.44, P<0.05). Conclusions: Neonates of mothers infected with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant during third trimester have benign short-term outcomes, without intrauterine infection through vertical transmission. Strict infection control measures at birth and after birth can effectively protect these neonates from SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Long Non-Coding RNA CRNDE Functions as a Tumor Promoter by Modulating the ERK/MAPK Signaling Pathway in Neuroblastoma Cells. ANNALS OF CLINICAL AND LABORATORY SCIENCE 2022; 52:956-966. Abstract
OBJECTIVE The long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (CRNDE) is considered a carcinogenic promoter in various human malignancies. However, the role and underlying mechanism of action of CRNDE during carcinogenesis in neuroblastoma remain unknown. METHODS CRNDE transcript levels were detected in neuroblastoma tissues and adjacent normal tissues. The effects of CRNDE overexpression and knockdown on the viability of SH-SY5Y and SK-N-AS cells were determined using the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay. Flow cytometry was performed to measure the role of CRNDE in apoptosis and the cell cycle in neuroblastoma cells. Moreover, the transwell assay was used to evaluate the role of CRNDE in the migration and invasion of tumor cells. The levels of ERK/MAPK pathway-related proteins were evaluated using western blotting. The in vivo role of CRNDE in tumor growth and apoptosis was evaluated in a xenograft mouse model of human neuroblastoma. RESULTS The relative expression of CRNDE was significantly higher in neuroblastoma tissues than in the adjacent normal tissues. Moreover, knockdown of CRNDE inhibited tumor cell proliferation and induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest, whereas elevation of CRNDE promoted cell growth and inhibited apoptosis in neuroblastoma cells. In addition, depletion of CRNDE suppressed migration and invasion, whereas overexpression of CRNDE enhanced the migratory and invasive potential of SH-SY5Y and SK-N-AS cells. At the mechanistic level, western blotting showed that CRNDE exerted its oncogenic role by affecting the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway. Furthermore, animal experiments confirmed that CRNDE promotes tumor growth and inhibits apoptosis in neuroblastoma in vivo. CONCLUSION The present study revealed that CRNDE plays a critical role in the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion of neuroblastoma by altering the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway, representing a novel molecular target for the treatment of neuroblastoma.

Abstract
Objective: Using two measuring tools to examine the prevalence and correlates of neurocognitive impairment (NCI) as well as characteristics of neurocognitive performance among people with HIV (PWH) on antiretroviral treatment (ART). Methods: A total of 2 250 treated PWH from the Comparative HIV and Aging Research in Taizhou (CHART) were recruited in Taizhou, Zhejiang province. The Chinese version of the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE) and the International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS) were used to evaluate their neurocognitive performance. Cluster analysis was conducted on the seven cognitive domains in the scale. Results: Among 2 250 treated PWH, 48.0% (1 080/2 250) were aged 45 to 89, 79.2% (1 782/2 250) were male, and 37.8% (852/2 250) had primary school education or below. The prevalence of neurocognitive impairment judged by MMSE and IHDS among HIV-infected people was 14.3% (321/2 250) and 31.8% (716/2 250), respectively. Aged 60 to 89 (aOR=2.63, 95%CI:1.52-4.56), depressive symptoms (aOR=5.58, 95%CI:4.20-7.40) and treatment with EFV (aOR=2.86, 95%CI:1.89-4.34) were main risk factors of NCI diagnosed by MMSE. Male (aOR=0.71, 95%CI:0.51-1.00), overweight (aOR=0.63, 95%CI:0.44-0.89), and high education level (aOR=0.11, 95%CI:0.05-0.25) were protective factors of NCI diagnosed by MMSE. Aged 60 to 89 (aOR=3.10, 95%CI:2.09-4.59), depressive symptoms (aOR=1.78, 95%CI:1.44-2.20) and treatment with EFV (aOR=1.79, 95%CI:1.41-2.29) were risk factors of NCI diagnosed by IHDS. Male (aOR=0.75, 95%CI:0.58-0.97), underweight (aOR=0.67, 95%CI:0.47-0.96), baseline CD4+ T lymphocyte (CD4) counts ≥350 cells/μl (aOR=0.69, 95%CI:0.53-0.91) and high education level (aOR=0.23, 95%CI:0.14-0.39) were protective factors of NCI diagnosed by IHDS. The neurocognitive performance of HIV-infected people can be divided into four main types. Among four types, age, gender, education level, alcohol drinking, depressive symptoms, waist-to-hip ratio, hypertension, diabetes, baseline CD4 counts and treatment with EFV were different statistically (all P<0.05). Conclusions: There are four main types of neurocognitive performance in treated PWH. The prevalence of NCI is high among this population, underscoring the need for tailored prevention and intervention.

Abstract
The ^{13}C(α,n)^{16}O reaction is the main neutron source for the slow-neutron-capture process in asymptotic giant branch stars and for the intermediate process. Direct measurements at astrophysical energies in above-ground laboratories are hindered by the extremely small cross sections and vast cosmic-ray-induced background. We performed the first consistent direct measurement in the range of E_{c.m.}=0.24 to 1.9 MeV using the accelerators at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory and Sichuan University. Our measurement covers almost the entire intermediate process Gamow window in which the large uncertainty of the previous experiments has been reduced from 60% down to 15%, eliminates the large systematic uncertainty in the extrapolation arising from the inconsistency of existing datasets, and provides a more reliable reaction rate for the studies of the slow-neutron-capture and intermediate processes along with the first direct determination of the alpha strength for the near-threshold state.

Abstract
Distinct regio- and enantioselectivity control in copper-catalyzed vinylogous and bisvinylogous propargylic substitution has been accomplished by using a novel chiral N,N,P ligand. The developed method provides an efficient and selective approach to an array of highly enantioenriched alkynyl unsaturated carbonyl compounds. Salient features include excellent functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope. The synthetic utility of the developed method is further demonstrated by a gram-scale synthesis and by application to a range of transformations including enantioselective synthesis of unique challenging compounds.

Abstract
Purpose Pulmonary surfactant proteins A (SP-A) and D (SP-D) are lectins, involved in host defense and regulation of pulmonary inflammatory response. However, studies on the assessment of COPD progress are limited. Patients and Methods Pulmonary surfactant proteins were obtained from the COPD mouse model induced by cigarette and lipopolysaccharide, and the specimens of peripheral blood and bronchoalveolar lavage (BALF) in COPD populations. H&E staining and RT-PCR were performed to demonstrate the successfully established of the mouse model. The expression of SP-A and SP-D in mice was detected by Western Blot and immunohistochemistry, while the proteins in human samples were measured by ELISA. Pulmonary function test, inflammatory factors (CRP, WBC, NLR, PCT, EOS, PLT), dyspnea index score (mMRC and CAT), length of hospital stay, incidence of complications and ventilator use were collected to assess airway remodeling and progression of COPD. Results COPD model mice with emphysema and airway wall thickening were more prone to have decreased SP-A, SP-D and increased TNF-α, TGF-β, and NF-kb in lung tissue. In humans, SP-A and SP-D decreased in BALF, but increased in serum. The serum SP-A and SP-D were negatively correlated with FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and positively correlated with CRP, WBC, NLR, mMRC and CAT scores (P < 0.05, respectively). The lower the SP-A and SP-D in BALF, the worse the lung function and the increased probability of complications and ventilator use. Moreover, the same trend emerged in COPD patients grouped according to GOLD severity grade (Gold 1–2 group vs Gold 3–4 group). The worse the patient’s condition, the more pronounced the change. Conclusion This study suggests that SP-A and SP-D may be related to the progression and prognostic evaluation of COPD in terms of airway remodeling, inflammatory response and clinical symptoms, and emphasizes the necessity of future studies of surfactant protein markers in COPD.

Abstract
We present the precision measurement of 2824 daily helium fluxes in cosmic rays from May 20, 2011 to October 29, 2019 in the rigidity interval from 1.71 to 100 GV based on 7.6×10^{8} helium nuclei collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard the International Space Station. The helium flux and the helium to proton flux ratio exhibit variations on multiple timescales. In nearly all the time intervals from 2014 to 2018, we observed recurrent helium flux variations with a period of 27 days. Shorter periods of 9 days and 13.5 days are observed in 2016. The strength of all three periodicities changes with time and rigidity. In the entire time period, we found that below ∼7 GV the helium flux exhibits larger time variations than the proton flux, and above ∼7 GV the helium to proton flux ratio is time independent. Remarkably, below 2.4 GV a hysteresis between the helium to proton flux ratio and the helium flux was observed at greater than the 7σ level. This shows that at low rigidity the modulation of the helium to proton flux ratio is different before and after the solar maximum in 2014.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the hospitalization rates and influencing factors after diagnosis among HIV infection cases, based on real-world data in Yinzhou district of Ningbo. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted based on the databases of National AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System and Yinzhou Health Information Platform. The information about the following-up results, antiviral treatment data, electronic records of inpatient of the HIV cases reported during 2012-2020 were collected to analyze the rates, causes and influencing factors of hospitalization. Results: Among the 763 HIV infection cases reported in Yinzhou from 2012 to 2020, the hospitalization rate was 6.95% (53/763), and the number of inpatient was 2.59 per 100 person years. The hospitalization rate and the number of hospitalization per 100 person years in HIV infection cases were 3.16% (10/316) and 0.81 in those aged <30 years, 6.07% (15/247) and 1.59 in those aged >30 years, 7.86% (11/140) and 4.05 in those aged >45 years and 28.33% (17/60) and 17.40 in those aged ≥60 years respectively. Logistic multivariate regression analysis indicated that being aged ≥60 years was the influencing factor for hospitalizations in HIV infection cases (аOR=14.44, 95%CI:3.57-58.46). The hospitalization rates due to AIDS related diseases, cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases, and other diseases were 1.83% (14/763), 1.05% (8/763), and 3.93% (30/763), respectively. Conclusions: The hospitalization burden due to HIV infection was still mainly caused by those aged ≥60 years in Yinzhou, similar to that in general population and less proportion of hospitalizations were due to AIDS related diseases. The overall increase of hospitalizations due to AIDS was not obvious in Yinzhou.

Abstract
Antibiotic residues from animal manure cause soil pollution and can pose a threat to soil animals. In this study, the toxicological effects of fluoroquinolone antibiotics on Enchytraeus crypticus, including defence response, gut microbiome, and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), were studied. The cytochrome P450 enzyme activity and reactive oxygen species levels increased, activating the defense response. The superoxide dismutase and glutathione S-transferase activity, and the expression of immune defense molecules such as coelomic cytolytic factor, lysozyme, bactericidal protein fetidins and lysenin changed. Furthermore, the diversity of the gut microbiome decreased, and the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes decreased significantly at the phylum level but increased in pathogenic and antibiotic-secreting bacteria (Rhodococcus and Streptomyces) at the genus level. However, the soil microbiome was not significantly different from that of the control group. The relative abundance of ARGs in the gut and soil microbiome significantly increased with enrofloxacin concentration, and the fluoroquinolone ARGs were significantly increased in both the soil (20.85-fold, p < 0.001) and gut (11.72-fold, p < 0.001) microbiomes. Subtypes of ARGs showed a positive correlation with Rhodococcus, which might increase the risk of disease transmission and the probability of drug-resistant pathogens. Furthermore, mobile genetic elements significantly promote the spread of ARGs.

Abstract
To explore the biofilm inhibitory efficacy of perifosine against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginos) and its mechanisms. Twenty-fourwell plate was used to form biofilms at the bottom and crystal violet staining was used to determine the biofilm inhibitory effects of perifosine against P. aeruginosa, the wells without perifosine was set as control group. Glass tubes combined with crystal violet staining was used to detect the gas-liqud interface related bioiflm inhibitory effects of perifosine, the wells without perifosine was set as control group. Time-growth curved was used to detect the effects of perifosine on the bacteial planktonic cells growth of P. aeruginosa, the wells without perifosine was set as control group. The interaction model between perifosine and PqsE was assessed by molecular docking assay. The inhibitory effects of perifosine on the catalytic activity of PqsE was determined by detection the production of thiols, the wells without perifosine was set as control group. Binding affinity between perifosine and PqsE was detected by plasma surface resonance. The biofims at the bottom of the microplates and air-liquid interface were effectively inhibited by perifosine at the concentration of 4-8 μg/ml. There was no influence of perifosine on the cells growth of P. aeruginosa. The resuts of molecular docking assay indicates that perifosine could interacted with PqsE with the docking score of -10.67 kcal/mol. Perifosine could inhibit the catalytic activity of PqsE in a dose-dependent manner. The binding affinity between perifosine and PqsE was comfirmed by plasma surface resonance with KD of 6.65×10-5mol/L. Perifosine could inhibited the biofilm formation of P. aeruginosa by interacting with PqsE.

SAPCD2 promotes neuroblastoma progression by altering the subcellular distribution of E2F7. Cell Death Dis 2022; 13:174. [PMID: 35197448 PMCID: PMC8866461 DOI: 10.1038/s41419-022-04624-z] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 10/27/2021] [Revised: 01/23/2022] [Accepted: 02/07/2022] [Indexed: 11/16/2022]
Abstract
Recent studies uncovered the emerging roles of SAPCD2 (suppressor anaphase-promoting complex domain containing 2) in several types of human cancer. However, the functions and underlying mechanisms of SAPCD2 in the progression of neuroblastoma (NB) remain elusive. Herein, through integrative analysis of public datasets and regulatory network of GSK-J4, a small-molecule drug with anti-NB activity, we identified SAPCD2 as an appealing target with a high connection to poor prognosis in NB. SAPCD2 promoted NB progression in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, SAPCD2 could directly bind to cytoplasmic E2F7 but not E2F1, alter the subcellular distribution of E2F7 and regulate E2F activity. Among the E2F family members, the roles of E2F7 in NB are poorly understood. We found that an increasing level of nuclear E2F7 was induced by SAPCD2 knockdown, thereby affecting the expression of genes involved in the cell cycle and chromosome instability. In addition, Selinexor (KTP-330), a clinically available inhibitor of exportin 1 (XPO1), could induce nuclear accumulation of E2F7 and suppress the growth of NB. Overall, our studies suggested a previously unrecognized role of SAPCD2 in the E2F signaling pathway and a potential therapeutic approach for NB, as well as clues for understanding the differences in subcellular distribution of E2F1 and E2F7 during their nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association between sleep duration and activity of daily living (ADL) in the elderly aged 65 years and older in China. Methods: A total of 11 247 subjects aged 65 and above were included in the Chinese Elderly Health Factors Tracking Survey from March 29, 2005 to April 8, 2019. Self-made questionnaire was used to collect the data of population sociological characteristics, health status and disease status. ADL status was assessed by basic activities of daily living. The association between sleep duration and ADL impairment was assessed by Cox proportional risk regression model. The dose-response relationship between sleep duration and ADL impairment was analyzed using restricted cubic spline function. Results: The age of the subjects was (79±10) years, including 5 793(51.5%) females. The incidence of ADL impairment was 33.3% (3 747/11 247). Subjects were divided into short, medium, and long sleep groups according to sleep duration of fewer than seven hours, seven to eight hours, or more than eight hours. The number of short, medium and long sleepers was 2 974 (26.4%), 4 922 (43.8%) and 3 351(29.8%), respectively. The intermediate sleep group had the lowest incidence of impaired ADL (4.98/100 person-years). Cox proportional risk regression model analysis showed that: taking the intermediate sleep group as reference, after adjustment of gender, age, marital status, educational level, place of residence, living with family, smoking, drinking, exercise, frequency of fruit consumption, vegetable intake frequency, sleep quality, factors such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, the long sleep time increased the risk of impaired ADL [HR (95%CI): 1.148 (1.062-1.241)]. Subgroup analysis showed a weak positive multiplicative interaction between sleep duration and age [HR (95%CI): 1.004 (1.000-1.009)], but no multiplicative interaction between sleep duration and sex [HR(95%CI): 0.948 (0.870-1.034)]. Longer sleep duration increased the risk of ADL impairment in women [HR (95%CI): 1.195 (1.074-1.329)], but not in men [HR (95%CI): 1.084 (0.966-1.217)]. Longer sleep duration increased the risk of ADL impairment in people aged 80 years and older [HR (95%CI): 1.185 (1.076-1.305)], but not in people younger than 80 years [HR (95%CI): 1.020 (0.890-1.169)]. There was a non-linear dose-response relationship between sleep duration and ADL damage (P=0.007), and the risk of ADL damage was lowest when sleep duration was 7.5 h. Conclusion: Sleep duration was positively correlated with the risk of ADL impairment in the elderly in a nonlinear dose-response relationship.

Abstract
We present the precision measurement of the daily proton fluxes in cosmic rays from May 20, 2011 to October 29, 2019 (a total of 2824 days or 114 Bartels rotations) in the rigidity interval from 1 to 100 GV based on 5.5×10^{9} protons collected with the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer aboard the International Space Station. The proton fluxes exhibit variations on multiple timescales. From 2014 to 2018, we observed recurrent flux variations with a period of 27 days. Shorter periods of 9 days and 13.5 days are observed in 2016. The strength of all three periodicities changes with time and rigidity. The rigidity dependence of the 27-day periodicity is different from the rigidity dependences of 9-day and 13.5-day periods. Unexpectedly, the strength of 9-day and 13.5-day periodicities increases with increasing rigidities up to ∼10 GV and ∼20 GV, respectively. Then the strength of the periodicities decreases with increasing rigidity up to 100 GV.

Abstract
^{18}Mg was observed, for the first time, by the invariant-mass reconstruction of ^{14}O+4p events. The ground-state decay energy and width are E_{T}=4.865(34) MeV and Γ=115(100) keV, respectively. The observed momentum correlations between the five particles are consistent with two sequential steps of prompt 2p decay passing through the ground state of ^{16}Ne. The invariant-mass spectrum also provides evidence for an excited state at an excitation energy of 1.84(14) MeV, which is likely the first excited 2^{+} state. As this energy exceeds that for the 2^{+} state in ^{20}Mg, this observation provides an argument for the demise of the N=8 shell closure in nuclei far from stability. However, in open systems this classical argument for shell strength is compromised by Thomas-Ehrman shifts.

Abstract
Background Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a myeloid neoplasm accounts for 7.6% of hematopoietic malignancies. AML is a complex disease, and understanding its pathophysiology is contributing to the improvement in the treatment and prognosis of AML. In this study, we assessed the expression profile and molecular functions of CCAAT enhancer binding protein gamma (CEBPG), a gene implicated in myeloid differentiation and AML progression. Methods shRNA mediated gene interference was used to down-regulate the expression of CEBPG in AML cell lines, and knockdown efficiency was detected by RT-qPCR and western blotting. The effect of knockdown on the growth of AML cell lines was evaluated by CCK-8. Western blotting was used to detect PARP cleavage, and flow cytometry were used to determine the effect of knockdown on apoptosis of AML cells. Genes and pathways affected by knockdown of CEBPG were identified by gene expression analysis using RNA-seq. One of the genes affected by knockdown of CEBPG was Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 1 (EIF4EBP1), a known repressor of translation. Knockdown of EIF4EBP1 was used to assess its potential role in AML progression downstream of CEBPG. Results We explored the ChIP-Seq data of AML cell lines and non-AML hematopoietic cells, and found CEBPG was activated through its distal enhancer in AML cell lines. Using the public transcriptomic dataset, the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) and western blotting, we also found CEBPG was overexpressed in AML. Moreover, we observed that CEBPG promotes AML cell proliferation by activating EIF4EBP1, thus contributing to the progression of AML. These findings indicate that CEBPG could act as a potential therapeutic target for AML patients. Conclusion In summary, we systematically explored the molecular characteristics of CEBPG in AML and identified CEBPG as a potential therapeutic target for AML patients. Our findings provide novel insights into the pathophysiology of AML and indicate a key role for CEBPG in promoting AML progression. Abstract
Neuroblastoma (NB) is a common pediatric malignancy associated with poor outcomes. Recent studies have shown that murine double minute2 homolog (MDM2) protein inhibitors are promising anticancer agents. MI-773 is a novel and specific antagonist of MDM2, however, the molecular mechanism of its anti-NB activity remains unclear. NB cell viability was measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 assay following MI-773 treatment. Cell cycle progression was analyzed using PI staining and apoptosis was assessed using Annexin V/PI staining. The molecular mechanisms by which MI-773 exerted its effects were investigated using a microarray. The results showed that disturbance of the MDM2/p53 axis by MI-773 resulted in potent suppression of proliferation, induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in NB cells. In addition, microarray analysis showed that MI-773 led to significant downregulation of genes involved in the G2/M phase checkpoint and upregulation of hallmark gene associated with the p53 pathway. Meanwhile, knockdown of insulinoma-associated 1 decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis of NB cells. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that MI-773 exhibited high selectivity and blockade affinity for the interaction between MDM2 and TP53 and may serve as a novel strategy for the treatment of NB.

Abstract
Fluorine is one of the most interesting elements in nuclear astrophysics, where the ^{19}F(p,α)^{16}O reaction is of crucial importance for Galactic ^{19}F abundances and CNO cycle loss in first generation Population III stars. As a day-one campaign at the Jinping Underground Nuclear Astrophysics experimental facility, we report direct measurements of the essential ^{19}F(p,αγ)^{16}O reaction channel. The γ-ray yields were measured over E_{c.m.}=72.4-344 keV, covering the Gamow window; our energy of 72.4 keV is unprecedentedly low, reported here for the first time. The experiment was performed under the extremely low cosmic-ray-induced background environment of the China JinPing Underground Laboratory, one of the deepest underground laboratories in the world. The present low-energy S factors deviate significantly from previous theoretical predictions, and the uncertainties are significantly reduced. The thermonuclear ^{19}F(p,αγ)^{16}O reaction rate has been determined directly at the relevant astrophysical energies.

Results: In 20 348 close contacts, 12 462 were males (61.24%), the median (P25,P75) of age of them was 31.0 years (23.0,43.0), the median number (P25,P75) of nucleic acid testing for them was 2.0 (1.0,3.0), and the median (P25,P75) of their quarantine days was 12.0 (8.0,13.0) days, respectively. A total of 256 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the close contacts after seven nucleic acid tests. In the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th nucleic acid testing, the sensitivity and specificity were 69.14% and 99.99% (177 cases confirmed), 89.84% and 99.99% (230 cases confirmed), 97.27% and 99.99% (249 cases confirmed), and 100.00% and 99.98%, respectively. In the three stages of COVID-19 prevention and control in China: domestic case stage, imported case stage, and imported case associated local epidemic stage, the sensitivity of the 1st nucleic acid testing was 70.68%, 68.00% and 67.35%, and the specificity was 99.98%, 100.00% and 100.00%, respectively. Conclusions: The sensitivity of nucleic acid testing in the close contacts at the different stages were consistent with slight decrease, which might be related to the increased proportion of asymptomatic infections in the late stage of epidemic prevention and control with COVID-19 in Guangzhou. It is suggested to give three nucleic acid tests to improve the sensitivity and reduce false negative risk.

[Mesenchymal stem cells derived apoptotic extracellular vesicles attenuate pro-inflammatory macrophages induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide]. ZHONGHUA KOU QIANG YI XUE ZA ZHI = ZHONGHUA KOUQIANG YIXUE ZAZHI = CHINESE JOURNAL OF STOMATOLOGY 2021; 56:791-798. [PMID: 34404146 DOI: 10.3760/cma.j.cn112144-20201027-00541] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Grants] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/05/2022]
Abstract
Objective: To investigate whether bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) derived apoptotic extracellular vesicles (ApoEVs) could regulate the polarization of mouse macrophage cell line RAW264.7 and whether BMMSCs derived ApoEVs could attenuate pro-inflammatory condition of RAW264.7 induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (Pg-LPS), so as to provide experimental evidence and theoretical basis for using BMMSCs derived ApoEVs as a method to treat periodontitis. Methods: The Operetta CLS high-content analysis system was used to observe the time-dependent apoptosis process of BMMSCs. Besides, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), dynamic light scattering technology and streaming potential method were used to measure the surface characteristics of BMMSCs derived ApoEVs. The Operetta CLS high-content analysis system was used to observe the process of RAW264.7 phagocyting 5-carboxy-tetramethylrhodamine, succinimidyl ester (5-TAMRA-SE) labeled ApoEVs. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of arginase-1 (Arg-1). Cell immunofluorescence and Western blotting were used to detect the number of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)(+) macrophages and iNOS protein expression level in each experiment group. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect tumor necrosis factro-α (TNF-α) level in the Pg-LPS induced pro-inflammatory macrophage culture supernatant in each experiment group. Results: After treating with 0.5 μmol/L staurosporine for 12 hours, mouse BMMSCs underwent shrinking with obvious vesicles structure around. The FESEM showed the ApoEVs were in spherical shapes. The size range of ApoEVs was about 100-1 000 nm and the average Zeta potential was -16.6 mV. The Operetta CLS high-content analysis system showed RAW264.7 could phagocytose 5-TAMRA-SE labeled ApoEVs by pseudopodia. The relative mRNA expression of Arg-1 was significantly increased in RAW 264.7 after being treated with interleukin 4 (IL-4) and ApoEVs (261.97±15.91) compared to that with IL-4 alone (115.29±15.42) (P<0.01). Cell immunofluorescence showed that ApoEVs could reduce the number of iNOS(+) macrophages induced by Pg-LPS (39.33±4.70) comparing to those without ApoEVs (95.33±4.70) (P=0.007). In the meanwhile, ApoEVs could also down-regulate the iNOS protein level of macrophages induced by Pg-LPS (5.84±1.05) comparing to those without ApoEVs (14.91±3.87) (P<0.01). Besides, ApoEVs could also reduce the TNF-α secretion in the culture supernatant of pro-inflammatory macrophages induced by Pg-LPS [(21 899.71±409.73) ng/L] comparing to those without ApoEVs [(71 296.50±2 344.22) ng/L] (P=0.003). Conclusions: BMMSCs derived ApoEVs could regulate the polarization of macrophages and could also attenuate the pro-inflammatory condition of macrophages induced by Pg-LPS.

Abstract
We report the properties of sodium (Na) and aluminum (Al) cosmic rays in the rigidity range 2.15 GV to 3.0 TV based on 0.46 million sodium and 0.51 million aluminum nuclei collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment on the International Space Station. We found that Na and Al, together with nitrogen (N), belong to a distinct cosmic ray group. In this group, we observe that, similar to the N flux, both the Na flux and Al flux are well described by the sums of a primary cosmic ray component (proportional to the silicon flux) and a secondary cosmic ray component (proportional to the fluorine flux). The fraction of the primary component increases with rigidity for the N, Na, and Al fluxes and becomes dominant at the highest rigidities. The Na/Si and Al/Si abundance ratios at the source, 0.036±0.003 for Na/Si and 0.103±0.004 for Al/Si, are determined independent of cosmic ray propagation.

Abstract
Objective: To study the prevalence and correlations of HIV infection among cross-border couples in the Dehong prefecture. Methods: A cross-sectional mass screening study with questionnaire interview and HIV testing was conducted among 17 594 registered cross-border couples from May 2017 through June 2018. Results: Among 32 400 participants, the overall prevalence of HIV infection was 2.27% (736/32 400), 2.44% (375/15 372) for Chinese citizens, and 2.12% (361/17 028) for foreign spouses. Among all the 13 853 couples with both spouses receiving HIV testing, 13 415(96.84%) were seroconcordant-negative couples, 142(1.03%) were serocondordant-positive couples, and 296(2.13%) were serodiscordant couples, including 167(1.20%) couples with positive husband and negative wife and 129(0.93%) couples with positive wife and negative husband. Multiple logistic regression analyses indicated that HIV infection was associated with drug use and risky sexual behaviors for male spouses. In contrast, HIV infection was associated with risky sexual behaviors for female spouses. Conclusion: The prevalence of HIV among cross-border couples in Dehong prefecture is high, underscoring the urgent need to scale up HIV testing, prevention, and behavioral intervention.

Properties of Heavy Secondary Fluorine Cosmic Rays: Results from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 126:081102. Abstract
Precise knowledge of the charge and rigidity dependence of the secondary cosmic ray fluxes and the secondary-to-primary flux ratios is essential in the understanding of cosmic ray propagation. We report the properties of heavy secondary cosmic ray fluorine F in the rigidity R range 2.15 GV to 2.9 TV based on 0.29 million events collected by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer experiment on the International Space Station. The fluorine spectrum deviates from a single power law above 200 GV. The heavier secondary-to-primary F/Si flux ratio rigidity dependence is distinctly different from the lighter B/O (or B/C) rigidity dependence. In particular, above 10 GV, the F/Si/B/O ratio can be described by a power law R^{δ} with δ=0.052±0.007. This shows that the propagation properties of heavy cosmic rays, from F to Si, are different from those of light cosmic rays, from He to O, and that the secondary cosmic rays have two classes.

COCH predicts survival and adjuvant TACE response in patients with HCC. Oncol Lett 2021; 21:275. Abstract
The aim of the present study was to measure the expression of Cochlin (COCH) and analyze its association with survival, recurrence and the benefits from adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following hepatectomy. Patients with high COCH expression levels had a poorer prognosis in terms of overall and disease-free survival rate compared with those with low COCH expression levels. Further analysis revealed that patients with low COCH expression who received TACE experienced markedly lower early recurrence rates compared with those who did not receive TACE. However, patients with high COCH expression with and without adjuvant TACE after resection experienced no difference in disease recurrence rates. The expression of COCH was found to be associated with hepatitis B virus infection, portal vein tumor thrombosis and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage in HCC. Therefore, the findings of the present study indicated that clinical detection of COCH expression may help estimate the prognosis of patients with HCC, as well as determine whether to administer TACE after surgery to prevent recurrence.
