Abstract
D'Ann Rochon passed away on November 29th 2022. She is remembered for her outstanding contributions to the field of plant virology, her strong commitment to high quality science and her dedication to the training and mentorship of the next generation of scientists. She was a research scientist for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and an Adjunct Professor for the University of British Columbia. Her research program provided new insights on the infection cycle of tombusviruses and related viruses, including ground-breaking research on the structure of virus particles, the mechanisms of virus transmission by fungal zoospores, and the complexity of plant-virus interactions. She also developed diagnostic antibodies for plum pox virus and little cherry virus 2 that have had a significant impact on the management of these viruses.

Abstract
Dr. Virginia Saba, Ed.D., RN was known as a pioneer in nursing and nursing informatics. Yet, Dr. Saba was also a profound innovator seeking to drive change through her passion and knowledge about the science of informatics. Dr. Saba saw that her expertise needed to be shared with the nursing profession and healthcare industry. As a result, she was often one of the first to create new educational opportunities and pathways for nurses to become more educated, informed, and empowered for the betterment of patient care and visibility of the nursing profession. Her innovative leadership and solution development helped to collectively create an infrastructure of formal education, training, research, and entrepreneurial solutions necessary in today's digital environment. The nursing profession is fortunate to have had such a dedicated individual who sought to bring forward positive change in ways that have sustained and grown over the last several decades of time.

Abstract
In the history of environmental science and engineering, there are numerous great thinkers, mentors, and scholars, whose influence transcends geographical boundaries. Being assembled into a special tribute issue in ES&T celebrating its founding editor Jim Morgan, this Perspective tells a few stories related to China, a country that he never visited but one where his research and vision have a profound influence. The following stories are inspiring accounts of people who made indelible contributions to this discipline. Through providing an international angle, this perspective aims to reinforce the global aquatic chemistry community's appreciation of our discipline's roots and continuous growth in China, as well as the significant contributions from China. Given the universality of scientific knowledge, we believe that similar stories exist in many other countries, cultures, and fields, where their pioneers are celebrated and remembered.

Abstract
Dr. Ben-Tzion (Bentzi) Karsh was a mentor, collaborator, colleague, and friend who profoundly impacted the fields of human factors and ergonomics (HFE), medical informatics, patient safety, and primary care, among others. In this paper we honor his contributions by reflecting on his scholarship, impact, and legacy in three ways: first, through an updated simplified bibliometric analysis in 2020, highlighting the breadth of his scholarly impact from the perspective of the number and types of communities and collaborators with which and whom he engaged; second, through targeted reflections on the history and impact of Dr. Karsh's most cited works, commenting on the particular ways they impacted our academic community; and lastly, through quotes from collaborators and mentees, illustrating Dr. Karsh's long-lasting impact on his contemporaries and students.

Schulz DJ. Troy D. Zars: a personal tribute to a scientist, colleague, and friend. J Neurogenet 2020; 34:5-8. Abstract
I knew Troy for nearly 15 years, and in that time I don't recall hearing any childhood stories like those in seemingly every personal statement I've read from aspiring scientists or medical students. No stories about hours spent gazing at an anthill. I don't recall hearing about shelves crowded with insects collected on Styrofoam, or animal skulls kept in a shoebox under his bed. If these collected crania existed, it was more likely because Troy was a crack shot with a pellet gun than a need to know adaptations in the dentition of local squirrel populations. I don't recall hearing about science projects taken to the Iowa State Capitol to share with politely interested legislators. But I do recall hearing about spending the entirety of the daylight hours in the summer, with his brother Doug, finding where the crappie were biting. About crystal clear water on a lake in Minnesota that you didn't quite need to know the exact location of, just in case you were thinking of going and plundering the walleye within. I definitely heard about triumphs as a starting lineman not only for his high school football team, but the mighty Norse of Luther College. I heard about summer warehouse jobs in sweltering Iowa Julys. And I saw, firsthand, love and commitment and family. Troy's story demonstrates that the finest scientists are not just cultivated in narrow STEM curricula that begin at age 5. They are just as likely to be football-playing fishermen, fathers, husbands, and friends who can navigate an operant conditioning paradigm during the week, and dance a polka and produce a magnificent smoked pork shoulder on Saturday. Nature and an independent spirit and a little bit of mischief is a different kind of Magnet school. And it gave us truly one of the best.

Abstract
Ethics is on the cross road of off values that are present along the ways of transfusion medicine. This is an important tool to afford opinions as well as debates that always emerge when discussing transfusion medicine. The wording is particularly important; this was one among several others that characterized the soul of Jean-Jacques Lefrère when he opened the doors of the ethical issues of transfusion medicine.
