A Novel Cipher-Based Data Encryption with Galois Field Theory

Both the act of keeping information secret and the research on how to achieve it are included in the broad category of cryptography. When people refer to "information security," they are referring to the study and use of methods that make data transfers harder to intercept. When we talk about "information security," this is what we have in mind. Using private keys to encrypt and decode messages is a part of this procedure. Because of its vital role in modern information theory, computer security, and engineering, cryptography is now considered to be a branch of both mathematics and computer science. Because of its mathematical properties, the Galois field may be used to encrypt and decode information, making it relevant to the subject of cryptography. The ability to encrypt and decode information is one such use. In this case, the data may be encoded as a Galois vector, and the scrambling process could include the application of mathematical operations that involve an inverse. While this method is unsafe when used on its own, it forms the foundation for secure symmetric algorithms like AES and DES when combined with other bit shuffling methods. A two-by-two encryption matrix is used to protect the two data streams, each of which contains 25 bits of binary information which is included in the proposed work. Each cell in the matrix represents an irreducible polynomial of degree 6. Fine-tuning the values of the bits that make up each of the two 25-bit binary data streams using the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) with the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Method yields two polynomials of degree 6. Optimization is carried out using the Black Widow Optimization technique is used to tune the key generation in the cryptographic processing. By doing so, we can produce two polynomials of the same degree, which was our original aim. Users may also use cryptography to look for signs of tampering, such as whether a hacker obtained unauthorized access to a patient's medical records and made any changes to them. Cryptography also allows people to look for signs of tampering with data. Indeed, this is another use of cryptography. It also has the added value of allowing users to check for indications of data manipulation. Users may also positively identify faraway people and objects, which is especially useful for verifying a document's authenticity since it lessens the possibility that it was fabricated. The proposed work achieves higher accuracy of 97.24%, higher throughput of 93.47%, and a minimum decryption time of 0.0047 s.

Implementation of Speed-Efficient Key-Scheduling Process of AES for Secure Storage and Transmission of Data

Nowadays, a large number of digital data are transmitted worldwide using wireless communications. Therefore, data security is a significant task in communication to prevent cybercrimes and avoid information loss. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a highly efficient secure mechanism that outperforms other symmetric key cryptographic algorithms using message secrecy. However, AES is efficient in terms of software and hardware implementation, and numerous modifications are done in the conventional AES architecture to improve the performance. This research article proposes a significant modification to the AES architecture’s key expansion section to increase the speed of producing subkeys. The fork–join model of key expansion (FJMKE) architecture is developed to improve the speed of the subkey generation process, whereas the hardware resources of AES are minimized by avoiding the frequent computation of secret keys. The AES-FJMKE architecture generates all of the required subkeys in less than half the time required by the conventional architecture. The proposed AES-FJMKE architecture is designed and simulated using the Xilinx ISE 5.1 software. The Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) behaviour of the AES-FJMKE architecture is analysed by means of performance count for hardware resources, delay, and operating frequency. The existing AES architectures such as typical AES, AES-PNSG, AES-AT, AES-BE, ISAES, AES-RS, and AES-MPPRM are used to evaluate the efficiency of AES-FJMKE. The AES-FJMKE implemented using Spartan 6 FPGA used fewer slices (i.e., 76) than the AES-RS.

Optical Encryption Based on Computer Generated Holograms in Photopolymer

An optical encryption method based on computer generated holograms printing of photopolymer is presented. Fraunhofer diffraction is performed based on the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, and a hologram of the Advanced Encryption Standard encrypted Quick Response code is generated to record the ciphertext. The holograms of the key and the three-dimensional image are generated by the angular spectrum diffraction algorithm. The experimental results show that large-size encrypted Quick Response (QR) code and miniature keys can be printed in photopolymers, which has good application prospects in optical encryption. This method has the advantages of high-density storage, high speed, large fault tolerance, and anti-peeping.

Analytical Study of Hybrid Techniques for Image Encryption and Decryption

The majority of imaging techniques use symmetric and asymmetric cryptography algorithms to encrypt digital media. Most of the research works contributed in the literature focus primarily on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm for encryption and decryption. This paper propose an analysis for performing image encryption and decryption by hybridization of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) with Hill Cipher (HC), ECC with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and ElGamal with Double Playfair Cipher (DPC). This analysis is based on the following parameters: (i) Encryption and decryption time, (ii) entropy of encrypted image, (iii) loss in intensity of the decrypted image, (iv) Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), (v) Number of Pixels Change Rate (NPCR), and (vi) Unified Average Changing Intensity (UACI). The hybrid process involves the speed and ease of implementation from symmetric algorithms, as well as improved security from asymmetric algorithms. ECC and ElGamal cryptosystems provide asymmetric key cryptography, while HC, AES, and DPC are symmetric key algorithms. ECC with AES are perfect for remote or private communications with smaller image sizes based on the amount of time needed for encryption and decryption. The metric measurement with test cases finds that ECC and HC have a good overall solution for image encryption.

Securing electronic medical record in Near Field Communication using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

Doctors usually require patients' medical records before medical examinations. Nevertheless, obtaining such records may take time. Hence, Near Field Communication (NFC) could be used to store and send medical records between doctors and patients. Another issue is that there could be a threat such as, Man In The Middle Attack and eavesdropping, thus, a security method is required to secure the data. Furthermore, the information regarding the key and initialisation vector in NFC cannot be sent using one data package, hence, the data transmission should be done several times. Therefore, the initialisation vector that changed in each transmission is implemented, and the key utilised is based on the component agreed by both parties. This study aims at applying the cryptography process that does disturb and hinder the speed of data transmission. The result demonstrated that the data transmitted could be secured and the encryption process did not hinder data exchange. Also, different number of characters in plaintexts required different amount of time for encryption and decryption. It could be affected by the specifications of the devices used and the processes happening in the devices.

Design of cryptographically secure AES like S-Box using second-order reversible cellular automata for wireless body area network applications

In biomedical, data security is the most expensive resource for wireless body area network applications. Cryptographic algorithms are used in order to protect the information against unauthorised access. Advanced encryption standard (AES) cryptographic algorithm plays a vital role in telemedicine applications. The authors propose a novel approach for design of substitution bytes (S-Box) using second-order reversible one-dimensional cellular automata (RCA²) as a replacement to the classical look-up-table (LUT) based S-Box used in AES algorithm. The performance of proposed RCA² based S-Box and conventional LUT based S-Box is evaluated in terms of security using the cryptographic properties such as the nonlinearity, correlation immunity bias, strict avalanche criteria and entropy. Moreover, it is also shown that RCA² based S-Boxes are dynamic in nature, invertible and provide high level of security. Further, it is also found that the RCA² based S-Box have comparatively better performance than that of conventional LUT based S-Box.
