Kimura's disease as a mimicker of cavernous hemangioma: A case report and literature review

Kimura's disease (KD) is an immune-mediated disorder which mainly affects Asian men. It appears as head and neck subcutaneous masses, with inflammatory infiltrate and elevated serum immunoglobulin E levels. The clinical presentation of KD resembles that of various diseases. Here, we report the case of a 30-year-old Filipino man with KD mimicking cavernous hemangioma who was treated by surgery. Careful survey for possible KD cases is crucial. Misdiagnoses are prone to futile interventions and unwanted effects. Surgery with adjuvant therapy is superior to other forms of KD treatment.

Look at This Swelling: Retroauricular Mass as Atypical Progression in Long-Survivor Endometrial Endometrioid Adenocarcinoma

Endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma is the most common histology in gynecological malignancies. Most women present loco-regional relapsing or peritoneal and liver involvement within three years from diagnosis. However long-survivor patients may be affected by atypical disease evolutions. Here we describe an extremely rare case of retroauricular metastasis in a patient affected by endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, who had a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy six years earlier and subsequent salvage surgery three years later for loco-regional relapsed disease.

Pleomorphic adenoma presenting as retroauricular mass: an unusual case

Pleomorphic adenomas are benign salivary gland tumours that mostly affect the superficial lobe of the parotid gland. They are commonly found incidentally as rigid, unilateral, painless masses, growing gradually. Ninety percent of pleomorphic adenomas occur in the parotid gland, while 10% appear in minor salivary glands. The incidence of the parotid tumour is 2.4 in 10,000 per year. We describe the case of a 53-year-old woman presenting with a gradually growing retroauricular mass on the left side of the ear. Radiographic imaging and histopathological findings suggested a pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland. The tumour was removed and the patient recovered well upon follow-up.
