Abstract
Low-frequency vibrations of crystalline molecules are very sensitive to the local environment in which the molecules, for example, hydrated ions captured in crystals, find themselves. We present low-temperature X-ray crystallographic measurements on the harvested thiamine crystal containing hydrated ions and its temperature-dependent terahertz spectra and synchrotron infrared microspectra. It is found from the X-ray structure that the hydrated ions and hydration water are in a similar environment to liquid, although those are captured in crystals. The vibrationally resolved THz spectra of two states in the present organic crystals containing hydrated ions are well explained by the difference in the hydrogen-bonded pattern. Peak assignments were performed based on highly accurate first-principles calculations incorporating relativistic effects and dispersion corrections. The temperature dependences are observed for the vibrations around the chloride ions and hydration water due to the loose binding of chloride ions, the bond elongation with increasing temperature, and the cleavage of weak hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
We demonstrate the synthesis of perovskite oxide SrTiO3 with ideal cation stoichiometry and homogeneous La doping using air-stable Sr-Ti and La-Ti bimetallic peroxo complexes with a 1:1 cation ratio. Phase-pure SrTiO3, La2Ti2O7, and LaTiO3 were successfully synthesized by thermal decomposition of those complexes. La-doped SrTiO3 was obtained by mixing the Sr-Ti and La-Ti complexes in an acid solution, followed by thermal decomposition. La-doped SrTiO3 showed systematic chemical trends in the lattice constant and electrical conduction. Not only those bulk polycrystals but also cation-stoichiometric SrTiO3 epitaxial thin films were grown with an atomically flat surface from the Sr-Ti complex.

Abstract
The first total synthesis of four naturally occurring dihydro-β-agarofuran esters has been accomplished via a highly stereocontrolled 14-step access to their common core triol, (-)-isocelorbicol. A semipinacol rearrangement of an epoxy alcohol to install a quaternary carbon, diastereoselective conjugate reduction of a spirocyclic butenolide for the establishment of a methyl-bearing chiral center, and ring-closing metathesis to construct the decalin ring system were exploited as the key steps for the high-yielding synthesis of (-)-isocelorbicol.

Abstract
We report a search result for a light sterile neutrino oscillation with roughly 2200 live days of data in the RENO experiment. The search is performed by electron antineutrino (ν[over ¯]_{e}) disappearance taking place between six 2.8 GW_{th} reactors and two identical detectors located at 294 m (near) and 1383 m (far) from the center of the reactor array. A spectral comparison between near and far detectors can explore reactor ν[over ¯]_{e} oscillations to a light sterile neutrino. An observed spectral difference is found to be consistent with that of the three-flavor oscillation model. This yields limits on sin^{2}2θ_{14} in the 10^{-4}≲|Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.5 eV^{2} region, free from reactor ν[over ¯]_{e} flux and spectrum uncertainties. The RENO result provides the most stringent limits on sterile neutrino mixing at |Δm_{41}^{2}|≲0.002 eV^{2} using the ν[over ¯]_{e} disappearance channel.

Abstract
Cocrystallization of a lithium ion encapsulated fullerene Li+@C60 with a terbium(iii) phthalocyaninato porphyrinato double-decker single-molecule magnet [Tb(Pc)(OEP)] is reported. The cocrystal, containing PF6- as a counter anion, packs in a quasi-kagome lattice, which leads to intermolecular ferromagnetic interactions as well as the modulation of the single-molecule magnet (SMM) properties.

Abstract
Brominated and/or chlorinated organic compounds (referred to as organohalogens) are frequently detected in natural and engineered environments. However, ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry (UHR-MS)-based nontargeted identification of organohalogens remains challenging because of the coexistence of a vast number of halogenated and nonhalogenated organic molecules. In this study, a new algorithm, namely, the NOMDBP code, was developed to simultaneously identify organohalogens and non-organohalogens from the UHR-MS spectra of natural and engineered waters. In addition to isotopic patterns, for the first time, three optional filter rules [i.e., selection for minimum nonoxygen heteroatoms, inspection of the presence of newly formed halogenated disinfection byproducts (Xn-DBPs), and of their precursors] were incorporated into our code, which can accurately identify DBP-associated peaks and further elucidate Xn-DBP generation and transformation mechanisms. The formula assignment ratio against 2815 previously reported organohalogens, and their 11,583 isotopologues exceeded 97%. Application of our algorithm to disinfected natural organic matter indicated that oxygen-containing Xn-DBP species accounted for a majority of the Xn-DBPs. Furthermore, brominated Xn-DBPs (Br-DBPs) were characterized by a higher degree of unsaturation compared to chlorinated Xn-DBPs. In addition to electrophilic substitution and electrophilic addition reactions, the decomposition/transformation pathway was found to be another important mechanism in Br-DBP formation. The results of this study highlight the superior potential of our code for the efficient detection of yet unknown organohalogens (including organohalogens bearing nonoxygen heteroatoms) in a nontargeted manner and for the identification of their generation mechanism occurring during the disinfection process.

Abstract
The key nucleophile was found to be neither an enamine nor an enol, but an enolate in the direct Michael reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and non-activated ketones catalyzed by two amine catalysts namely diphenylprolinol silyl ether and pyrrolidine. This is a rare example of an enolate from a ketone serving as a key intermediate in the asymmetric organocatalytic reaction involving secondary amine catalysts because the ketone enolates are generally generated using a strong base, and the enamine is a common nucleophile in this type of reaction. The key nucleophile was found to be neither an enamine nor an enol, but an enolate in the direct Michael reaction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and non-activated ketones catalyzed by two amine catalysts namely diphenylprolinol silyl ether and pyrrolidine.![]()

Abstract
Vesicles or micelles prepared from amphiphiles with azobenzene (Az) moieties and long alkyl chains have attracted much attention in drug delivery systems. To induce release behavior from smart carriers via trans–cis photoisomerization of the Az groups, UV light exposure is typically used, but it can damage DNA and hardly penetrates cells. In this paper, Az-containing phospholipids without long alkyl tails were designed and synthesized; in these compounds, the end group of the Az moiety was substituted with a –NO2 and –OCH3 group (abbreviated N6 and M6, respectively). N6 self-assembled into H-aggregates with an interdigitated bilayered structure in water through the antiparallel orientation due to π–π interactions of the Az group, the attractive van der Waals forces, and the interactions and bending behavior of the phosphocholine groups. Vesicles showing visible light stimuli-responsive behavior were obtained by mixing N6 and M6, and the release of encapsulated calcein was triggered by visible light. A mixture of a nitro- and methoxy-substituted azo-containing phospholipids without long alkyl tails formed vesicles showing visible light stimuli-responsive behavior. Release of encapsulated calcein from the vesicles was triggered by visible light.![]()

Abstract
Ditriptycilmethanes are known as molecular bevel gears because the two triptycil groups show correlated rotation. In this report, molecular bevel gears bridged with a group 14 element, bis(methyltriptycil)X (X = SiH2, GeH2, GeF2), were synthesized, and their gearing properties were investigated. Gear slippage, that is an error in gear rotation, is observed in high-temperature solutions of molecular bevel gears. Heavy atom derivatives undergo gear slippage more easily due to the long bond lengths and wide angles between the two triptycil units and the bridging group 14 element. Activation energies of gear slippages were estimated by temperature-dependent NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations, and theoretical thermodynamic parameters for gear slippage were found to be in excellent agreement with experimental values. The results indicate that theoretical calculations for gear rotation in molecular bevel gears can accurately reproduce experimental phenomena.

Abstract
Some nitroxides, for example, tetramethylpyridiniumoxide, are known as stable radicals; however, carbazole nitroxide is less stable. The kinetic stabilization of labile radicals by introduction of bulky substituents is usually effective to investigate intrinsic properties of the molecule because of small electronic perturbation induced by the substituents. In this study, macrocage molecules with a carbazole nitroxide connected by covalent bonds were newly designed as kinetically stabilized carbazole nitroxides. The nitroxides were prepared and characterized by electron spin resonance spectroscopy. The caged nitroxides presented long half-lives (∼50 h) by kinetic analysis.

Abstract
NFAT-133, isolated from Streptomyces sp., is an immunosuppressive, antidiabetic, and antitrypanosomal aromatic polyketide with three contiguous stereocenters. The first enantioselective total synthesis of the proposed structure of NFAT-133 [(10R,11R,12S)-1] and its C10 epimer [(10S,11R,12S)-1] was achieved from a known aromatic ester (5) by a 10-step sequence that featured chiral auxiliary-directed asymmetric alkylation and the Evans asymmetric aldol reaction as the chirality-inducing steps. The 1H and 13C NMR data as well as the specific rotation value of natural NFAT-133 were not identical to those of the proposed structure, but were in good agreement with those of its C10 epimer. This led us to conclude that the absolute configuration of NFAT-133 should be revised to 10S, 11R, and 12S.

Abstract
Calorimetric and terahertz-far-infrared (THz-FIR) spectroscopic and infrared (IR) spectroscopic measurements were conducted for [Li+@C60](PF6-) at temperatures between 1.8 and 395 K. [Li+@C60](PF6-) underwent a structural phase transition at around 360 K accompanied by the orientational order-disorder transition of Li+@C60 and PF6-. The transition occurred in a step-wise manner. The total transition entropy (ΔtrsS) of 40.1 ± 0.4 J K-1 mol-1 was smaller than that of the orientational order-disorder transition in a pristine C60 crystal (ΔtrsS = 45.4 ± 0.5 J K-1 mol-1). Thus, the orientational disorder of Li+@C60 in the high-temperature phase of [Li+@C60](PF6-) was much less excited than that of the pristine C60 owing to the Coulombic interactions, which stabilized the ionic crystal lattice of [Li+@C60](PF6-). At T < 100 K, upon cooling, Li+ ions were trapped in two pockets on the inner surface of C60, and no phase transition was observed. Finally, the Li+ ions achieved a complete order at 24 K through antiferroelectric transition. The ΔtrsS value of 4.6 ± 0.4 J K-1 mol-1 was slightly smaller than R ln 2 = 5.76 J K-1 mol-1 expected for the two-site order-disorder transition. The extent of the Li+ motion in the C60 cage was related to the selection rule in the THz-FIR and IR spectroscopy of the C60 internal vibrations, because a C60 cage should be polarized by the Li+ ion. It is shown that the local symmetry of the caged molecule can be modified by the rotational or hopping motion of the encaged ions.

Abstract
We report a fuel-dependent reactor electron antineutrino (ν[over ¯]_{e}) yield using six 2.8 GW_{th} reactors in the Hanbit nuclear power plant complex, Yonggwang, Korea. The analysis uses 850 666 ν[over ¯]_{e} candidate events with a background fraction of 2.0% acquired through inverse beta decay (IBD) interactions in the near detector for 1807.9 live days from August 2011 to February 2018. Based on multiple fuel cycles, we observe a fuel ^{235}U dependent variation of measured IBD yields with a slope of (1.51±0.23)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission and measure a total average IBD yield of (5.84±0.13)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission. The hypothesis of no fuel-dependent IBD yield is ruled out at 6.6σ. The observed IBD yield variation over ^{235}U isotope fraction does not show significant deviation from the Huber-Mueller (HM) prediction at 1.3 σ. The measured fuel-dependent variation determines IBD yields of (6.15±0.19)×10^{-43} and (4.18±0.26)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission for two dominant fuel isotopes ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu, respectively. The measured IBD yield per ^{235}U fission shows the largest deficit relative to the HM prediction. Reevaluation of the ^{235}U IBD yield per fission may mostly solve the reactor antineutrino anomaly (RAA) while ^{239}Pu is not completely ruled out as a possible contributor to the anomaly. We also report a 2.9 σ correlation between the fractional change of the 5 MeV excess and the reactor fuel isotope fraction of ^{235}U.
