Abstract
Owing to detrimental impact of cyanide ion (CN- ) towards the entire living system as well as its availability in drinking water, it has become very important developing potential sensory materials for the selective and sensitive recognition of CN- ions in water. In the domain of sensory materials, luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) have been considered as a promising candidate owing to their unique host-guest interaction, where MOFs can serve as an ideal scaffold for encapsulating relevant guest molecules rendering specific functionality. In this study, a post-synthetically modified MOF (viz., CuCl2 @MOF-867) was applied to recognize cyanide (CN- ) ions in water via "turn-on" response. The bipyridyl functionalities in MOF-867 were used to perform post-synthetic metalation to infiltrate CuCl2 inside porous architecture of the MOF. Moreover, a CuCl2 @MOF-867 based probe demonstrated highly selective and sensitive aqueous phase recognition of CN- ions even in the presence of other interfering anions such as Br- , NO3 - , I- , SO4 2- , OAc- , SCN- , NO2 - , etc. The selective binding of CN- ions to the copper-metal center has led to the generation of stable Cu(CN)2 species. This phenomenon has further resulted in a fluorescence turn-on response. The aqueous phase cyanide detection by the rationally modified MOF system exhibited very low limit of detection (0.19 μM), which meets the standardized limit stated by World Health Organization (WHO) that is 1.9 μM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The dural fold between anterior and middle clinoid processes on mineralisation leads to the formation of caroticoclinoid foramen (CCF). Different morphology of this foramen presents with different clinical features. The present study reports the frequency of CCF in the population of Bihar, while providing an account of assimilated information from previous literature regarding the association of caroticoclinoid ligament ossification with age and human genetics. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study was conducted on 100 adult dry human skulls of unknown age and sex, and 50 lateral view radiographs of the head. RESULTS Of the 100 dry skull bones, 9 presented with different forms of CCF. Bilateral complete foramina were noticed in 2 (2%) skull bones, while the incomplete foramina were observed bilaterally in 3 (3%) and unilaterally in 4 (4%) skulls. The lateral view radiograph data (n = 50) presented with a bilateral foramen in one subject and unilateral complete CCF in two different subjects. On measurements of the diameters of the complete CCF the mean values observed were 4.06 mm and 4.51 mm on the right side, while that on the left side were 5.15 mm and 4.14 mm. For the incomplete foramina, the mean values for the vertical diameter were 4.48 mm on the right and 4.19 mm on the left side, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The frequency of CCF in the present study population of Bihar was much lesser than that of previously studied populations. However, the variation in frequency of different morphological types of CCF was observed to be the same across populations. The variations in CCF's metric data could help in predicting the morphological changes it causes to the clinoidal segment of the internal carotid artery, as well as in distinguishing its varieties.

Three-in-One C 2 H 2 -Selectivity-Guided Adsorptive Separation across an Isoreticular Family of Cationic Square-Lattice MOFs. Angew Chem Int Ed Engl 2021; 61:e202114132. Abstract
Energy-efficient selective physisorption driven C2 H2 separation from industrial C2-C1 impurities such as C2 H4 , CO2 and CH4 is of great importance in the purification of downstream commodity chemicals. We address this challenge employing a series of isoreticular cationic metal-organic frameworks, namely iMOF-nC (n=5, 6, 7). All three square lattice topology MOFs registered higher C2 H2 uptakes versus the competing C2-C1 gases (C2 H4 , CO2 and CH4 ). Dynamic column breakthrough experiments on the best-performing iMOF-6C revealed the first three-in-one C2 H2 adsorption selectivity guided separation of C2 H2 from 1:1 C2 H2 /CO2 , C2 H2 /C2 H4 and C2 H2 /CH4 mixtures. Density functional theory calculations critically examined the C2 H2 selective interactions in iMOF-6C. Thanks to the abundance of square lattice topology MOFs, this study introduces a crystal engineering blueprint for designing C2 H2 -selective layered metal-organic physisorbents, previously unreported in cationic frameworks.

Abstract
Thanks to a bottom-up design of metals and organic ligands, the library of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has seen a conspicuous growth. Post-synthetically modified MOFs comprise a relatively smaller subset of this library. Whereas the approach of post-synthetic modification was seminally introduced for MOFs in the early 1990s, the earliest examples of post-synthetically modified MOFs are only congruous with adsorption and catalysis. The utility of PSM-derived MOFs for the sensing and capture of water contaminants is relatively niche. Arguably though, an increasing number of post-synthetically modified MOFs are finding relevance in the context of water pollutant remediation. In this article, we review the recent advances in this area and propose a structure-function relationship-guided blueprint for the future outlook.

Abstract
The prompt production of the charm baryon Λ_{c}^{+} and the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} production ratios were measured at midrapidity with the ALICE detector in pp and p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. These new measurements show a clear decrease of the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} ratio with increasing transverse momentum (p_{T}) in both collision systems in the range 2<p_{T}<12 GeV/c, exhibiting similarities with the light-flavor baryon-to-meson ratios p/π and Λ/K_{S}^{0}. At low p_{T}, predictions that include additional color-reconnection mechanisms beyond the leading-color approximation, assume the existence of additional higher-mass charm-baryon states, or include hadronization via coalescence can describe the data, while predictions driven by charm-quark fragmentation processes measured in e^{+}e^{-} and e^{-}p collisions significantly underestimate the data. The results presented in this Letter provide significant evidence that the established assumption of universality (colliding-system independence) of parton-to-hadron fragmentation is not sufficient to describe charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions at LHC energies.

Abstract
A cationic microporous composite polymer (120-TMA@Fe) bearing free exchangeable chloride anions alongside easy magnetic separation was crafted through post-polymerization structure modulation. The precursor polymer 120-Cl was synthesized via an "external cross-linking" strategy in a straightforward one-pot Friedel-Crafts reaction. Subsequently, a cationic network accommodating magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, viz., 120-TMA@Fe was fabricated through chemical modifications. 120-TMA@Fe displayed excellent adsorption proficiency both in terms of rapid kinetics and maximum uptake capacity when screened for a wide range of organic micropollutants of various categories. Amongst the tested pollutants, including anionic dyes, aromatic models, plastic components, and pharmaceuticals, 120-TMA@Fe illustrated exceptional performance in removing all of these model pollutants with adsorption equilibrium reaching within only 5 min. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm model determined the theoretical maximum uptake capacity (qmax,e) of 120-TMA@Fe to be 357 mg g-1 for methyl orange dye, 555 mg g-1 for plasticizer bisphenol A, and 285 mg g-1 for antibiotic ibuprofen. Additionally, 120-TMA@Fe showed unaltered performance upon harsh chemical treatment as well as in complex real-world samples. The potency of 120-TMA@Fe was further supported by its outstanding regeneration performance up to 10 cycles.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first experimental evidence of the attractive strong interaction between a proton and a ϕ meson. The result is obtained from two-particle correlations of combined p-ϕ⊕ p[over ¯]-ϕ pairs measured in high-multiplicity pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. The spin-averaged scattering length and effective range of the p-ϕ interaction are extracted from the fully corrected correlation function employing the Lednický-Lyuboshits approach. In particular, the imaginary part of the scattering length vanishes within uncertainties, indicating that inelastic processes do not play a prominent role for the p-ϕ interaction. These data demonstrate that the interaction is dominated by elastic p-ϕ scattering. Furthermore, an analysis employing phenomenological Gaussian- and Yukawa-type potentials is conducted. Under the assumption of the latter, the N-ϕ coupling constant is found to be g_{N-ϕ}=0.14±0.03(stat)±0.02(syst). This work provides valuable experimental input to accomplish a self-consistent description of the N-ϕ interaction, which is particularly relevant for the more fundamental studies on partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium.

Narayan RK, Asghar A, Ghosh SK, Bharti S. Adrenal Myelolipoma Mimics Ectopic Adrenal or Renal Tissue: An Incidental Finding During Cadaveric Dissection. ACTA ENDOCRINOLOGICA-BUCHAREST 2021; 17:111-116. [PMID: 34539918 DOI: 10.4183/aeb.2021.111] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Indexed: 11/20/2022]
Abstract
Context On naked eye examination adrenal myelolipoma (AML) tissue appears to be an ectopic adrenal or renal tissue, based on the similarity to their external texture. This necessitates a histo-pathological study for confirming the origin of the tissue. Objective To establish the origin and histological features of the incidental AML tissue found during cadaveric dissection and review the literature for similar findings with clinical picture and treatment description. Subjects and Methods Unilateral adrenal gland obtained from cadaveric dissection was subjected to histological study by H & E staining of the slides prepared. The literature review was done from articles published in PubMed indexed journals. Case report A case of an incidental finding of AML during cadaveric dissection is presented which on naked eye examination was appearing to be an ectopic adrenal or renal tissue, based on the similarity to their external texture. On histological examination, a thin rim of adrenocortical tissue, surrounding the mature adipose tissue, and attenuated by islets of myeloid, erythroid and megakaryocytic cell lines in varying proportions, resembling the mature bone marrow morphology, was observed. The literature review on PubMed explains similar incidental post-mortem autopsy findings due to the asymptomatic nature of the tumor. The incidence of AML varied between 0.08% and 0.2% in the last decade of the 20th century, which increased up to 10 - 15% of incidental adrenal masses due to the widespread use of non-invasive imaging modalities leading to an increase in the diagnosis of the pathology. Conclusions Before considering the ectopic incidence of tissue during cadaveric dissection, a histo-pathological examination is mandatory for confirmation. Adreno-myelolipoma is an asymptomatic post-mortem finding in 10-15% of cases of adrenal tissue which mimics ectopic adrenal gland or renal tissue due to its external texture.

AFCNNet: Automated detection of AF using chirplet transform and deep convolutional bidirectional long short term memory network with ECG signals. Comput Biol Med 2021; 137:104783. [PMID: 34481184 DOI: 10.1016/j.compbiomed.2021.104783] [Citation(s) in RCA: 17] [Impact Index Per Article: 5.7] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/19/2021] [Revised: 08/02/2021] [Accepted: 08/17/2021] [Indexed: 11/16/2022]
Abstract
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia and is characterized by the heart's beating in an uncoordinated manner. In clinical studies, patients often do not have visible symptoms during AF, and hence it is harder to detect this cardiac ailment. Therefore, automated detection of AF using the electrocardiogram (ECG) signals can reduce the risk of stroke, coronary artery disease, and other cardiovascular complications. In this paper, a novel time-frequency domain deep learning-based approach is proposed to detect AF and classify terminating and non-terminating AF episodes using ECG signals. This approach involves evaluating the time-frequency representation (TFR) of ECG signals using the chirplet transform. The two-dimensional (2D) deep convolutional bidirectional long short-term memory (BLSTM) neural network model is used to detect and classify AF episodes using the time-frequency images of ECG signals. The proposed TFR based 2D deep learning approach is evaluated using the ECG signals from three public databases. Our developed approach has obtained an accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 99.18% (Confidence interval (CI) as [98.86, 99.49]), 99.17% (CI as [98.85 99.49]), and 99.18% (CI as [98.86 99.49]), respectively, with 10-fold cross-validation (CV) technique to detect AF automatically. The proposed approach also classified terminating and non-terminating AF episodes with an average accuracy of 75.86%. The average accuracy value obtained using the proposed approach is higher than the short-time Fourier transform (STFT), discrete-time continuous wavelet transform (DT-CWT), and Stockwell transform (ST) based time-frequency analysis methods with deep convolutional BLSTM models to detect AF. The proposed approach has better AF detection performance than the existing deep learning-based techniques using ECG signals from the MIT-BIH database.

Multiharmonic Correlations of Different Flow Amplitudes in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=2.76 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:092302. Abstract
The event-by-event correlations between three flow amplitudes are measured for the first time in Pb-Pb collisions, using higher-order symmetric cumulants. We find that different three-harmonic correlations develop during the collective evolution of the medium when compared to correlations that exist in the initial state. These new results cannot be interpreted in terms of previous lower-order flow measurements since contributions from two-harmonic correlations are explicitly removed in the new observables. A comparison to Monte Carlo simulations provides new and independent constraints for the initial conditions and system properties of nuclear matter created in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract
Neutral nitrogen donor (N-donor) ligand-based MOFs, with their enticing features inclusive of facile synthesis, labile metal-ligand bond, framework flexibility, atomic level tunability renders them appealing in molecular recognition-based studies. Intriguingly, the flexibility in such systems (owing to weaker metal-nitrogen bonds) promote maximization of host-analyte interactions, which is critical for the manifestation of a signaling response. Such host-analyte interactions can be tapped by discerning any change in the physical properties associated with the system, such as optical, fluorometric, chemiresistive, magnetic, dielectric constant, mass. This minireview presents a brief discussion on the various types of signal transduction pathways unveiled hitherto using neutral N-donor ligand-based MOFs and the fundamental insight into the signal's origin. Moreover, an elaborate compilation of the recent examples in this field has been presented. Also, the untapped prospects have been highlighted, which may serve as a beacon to drive future research.

Abstract
Large-scale generation of radioactive iodine (129I, 131I) in nuclear power plants pose a critical threat in the event of fallout, thus rendering the development of iodine sequestering materials (from both the vapor and aqueous medium) highly pivotal. Herein, we report two chemically stable ionic polymers containing multiple binding sites, including phenyl rings, imidazolium cations, and bromide anions, which in synergy promote adsorption of iodine/triiodide anions. In brief, exceptional iodine uptake (from the vapor phase) was observed at nuclear fuel reprocessing conditions. Furthermore, the ionic nature propelled removal of >99% of I3- from water within 30 min. Additionally, benchmark uptake capacities, as well as unprecedented selectivity, were observed for I3-anions. The excellent affinity (distribution coefficient, ∼105 mL/g) enabled iodine capture from seawater-spiked samples. Moreover, iodine-loaded compounds showed conductivity (10-4 S/cm, 10-6 S/cm), placing them among the best known conducting porous organic polymers. Lastly, DFT studies unveiled key insights in coherence with the experimental findings.

Abstract
Water pollution from heavy metals and their toxic oxo-anionic derivatives such as CrO42-, Cr2O72-, HAsO42-, and HAsO32- has become one of the most critical environmental issues. To address this, herein, we report a new hydrolytically stable luminescent Zn(ii) based cationic metal organic framework (MOF), iMOF-4C, which further successfully exhibited a rare dual "turn off/on" fluorescence response toward Cr(vi), As(v) and As(iii) based oxo-anions respectively in water medium. In addition, iMOF-4C was found to maintain its superior selectivity in the presence of other concurrent anions (e.g. SO42-, Cl-, Br-, ClO4-, NO3-, SCN- and CO32-). More importantly, iMOF-4C exhibited an excellent selective and sensitive luminescence "turn-off" response towards CrO42- and Cr2O72- anions in water medium with the quenching constant (Ksv) values as high as 1.31 × 105 M-1 (CrO42-) and 4.85 × 105 M-1 (Cr2O72-), which are found to be the highest among the values reported in the regime of MOFs. Interestingly, iMOF-4C showed fluorescence "turn-on" response toward HAsO42- and HAsO32- with an enhancement coefficient (Kec) of 1.98 × 104 M-1 and 3.56 × 103 M-1 respectively. The high sensitivity and low detection limits make iMOF-4C more feasible for real-time sensing of such toxic oxo-anions in an aqueous medium. Furthermore, the probable sensing mechanism has been investigated by DFT calculation studies and discussed in detail.

Abstract
A measurement of dielectron production in proton-proton (pp) collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, recorded with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC, is presented in this Letter. The data set was recorded with a reduced magnetic solenoid field. This enables the investigation of a kinematic domain at low dielectron (ee) invariant mass m_{ee} and pair transverse momentum p_{T,ee} that was previously inaccessible at the LHC. The cross section for dielectron production is studied as a function of m_{ee}, p_{T,ee}, and event multiplicity dN_{ch}/dη. The expected dielectron rate from hadron decays, called hadronic cocktail, utilizes a parametrization of the measured η/π^{0} ratio in pp and proton-nucleus collisions, assuming that this ratio shows no strong dependence on collision energy at low transverse momentum. Comparison of the measured dielectron yield to the hadronic cocktail at 0.15<m_{ee}<0.6 GeV/c^{2} and for p_{T,ee}<0.4 GeV/c indicates an enhancement of soft dielectrons, reminiscent of the "anomalous" soft-photon and soft-dilepton excess in hadron-hadron collisions reported by several experiments under different experimental conditions. The enhancement factor over the hadronic cocktail amounts to 1.61±0.13(stat)±0.17(syst,data)±0.34(syst,cocktail) in the ALICE acceptance. Acceptance-corrected excess spectra in m_{ee} and p_{T,ee} are extracted and compared with calculations of dielectron production from hadronic bremsstrahlung and thermal radiation within a hadronic many-body approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The core elements of cardiovascular science have been established by scholarly pursuits of numerous scientists across centuries. In this article, we have tried to trace the evolutionary journey of cardiovascular science from a rudimentary form in ancient period to a robust scientific discipline in modern times. METHODS A literature search of relevant, peer-reviewed, published articles was undertaken from indexed databases (Medline & Pubmed, Scopus, Embase, CINAHL Plus, Web of Science and Google Scholar). RESULTS Cardiovascular science has its roots in antiquity, when Greek scholars mostly relied on philosophical thoughts and ancient texts. This was followed by addition of few structural details to the theory of circulation by Galen based on animal dissection. Arab scholar Ibn al-Nafis provided new insights regarding circulation pathway in humans. Nevertheless, an erroneous concept prevailed into the onset of European Renaissance. Even with legalization of human dissection, little headway could be made till sixteenth century due to persistent reliance of anatomists on ancient Galenic principles. During seventeenth century, the circulatory pathway (as we know it today) was established due to significant contributions from scholars like Harvey and Malpighi. Their efforts were based on findings from experiments and logical conclusions. Eighteenth century witnessed the emergence of autopsy based methods which led to valuable contributions from Vieussens, Thebesius, Morgagni and Hunter regarding normal and pathologic anatomy of cardiovascular system. With structural details mostly established, researchers during nineteenth century focussed on innovations in diagnostic methods based on human experiments. Further development of advanced human experiment models during twentieth century led to emergence of contemporary treatment methods for various cardiac conditions. In the twenty-first century, cardiovascular science is undergoing comprehensive progress at an exponential rate due to technological advances. CONCLUSION The evolutionary journey of cardiovascular science as a discipline across centuries has been intriguing and eventful.

Abstract
Fabricating new and efficient materials aimed at containment of water contamination, in particular removing toxic heavy metal based oxo-anions (e. g. CrO4 2- , TcO4 - ) holds paramount importance. In this work, we report two new highly stable imidazolium based ionic porous organic polymers (iPOPs) decorated with multiple interaction sites along with electrostatics driven adsorptive removal of such oxo-anions from water. Both the iPOPs (namely, iPOP-3 and iPOP-4) exhibited rapid sieving kinetics and very high saturation uptake capacity for CrO4 2- anions (170 and 141 mg g-1 for iPOP-3 and iPOP-4 respectively) and ReO4 - (515.5 and 350.3 mg g-1 for iPOP-3 and iPOP-4 respectively), where ReO4 - anions being the non-radioactive surrogative counterpart of radioactive TcO4 - ions. Noticeably, both iPOPs showed exceptional selectivity towards CrO4 2- and ReO4 - even in presence of several other concurrent anions such as Br- , Cl- , SO4 2- , NO3 - etc. The theoretical binding energy calculations via DFT method further confirmed the preferential interaction sites as well as binding energies of both iPOPs towards CrO4 2- and ReO4 - over all other competing anions which corroborates with the experimental high capacity and selectivity of iPOPs toward such oxo-anions.

Abstract
Water pollution and crisis of freshwater is one of the most alarming concern globally, which threatens the development and survival of living beings. Recycling of contaminated water has been the prime demand of 21st century as the area of contamination in natural waterbodies increasing rapidly worldwide. Detoxification and purification of wastewater via adsorptive removal technology has been proven to be more efficient because of it's simplicity, lesser complexity and cost-effectiveness. As the most rapid-growing division of coordination chemistry, porous coordination polymers (PCPs) or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with the liberty of crafting tailorable porous architecture and presence of numerous functional sites have become quintessential for recognition and sequestration of water pollutants. This personal account intends to highlight our recent contributions in the field of sensing and sequestration of toxic aquatic inorganic pollutants by functionalized water stable MOFs.

Abstract
Emotion is interpreted as a psycho-physiological process, and it is associated with personality, behavior, motivation, and character of a person. The objective of affective computing is to recognize different types of emotions for human-computer interaction (HCI) applications. The spatiotemporal brain electrical activity is measured using multi-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Automated emotion recognition using multi-channel EEG signals is an exciting research topic in cognitive neuroscience and affective computing. This paper proposes the rhythm-specific multi-channel convolutional neural network (CNN) based approach for automated emotion recognition using multi-channel EEG signals. The delta (δ), theta (θ), alpha (α), beta (β), and gamma (γ) rhythms of EEG signal for each channel are evaluated using band-pass filters. The EEG rhythms from the selected channels coupled with deep CNN are used for emotion classification tasks such as low-valence (LV) vs. high valence (HV), low-arousal (LA) vs. high-arousal (HA), and low-dominance (LD) vs. high dominance (HD) respectively. The deep CNN architecture considered in the proposed work has eight convolutions, three average pooling, four batch-normalization, three spatial drop-outs, two drop-outs, one global average pooling and, three dense layers. We have validated our developed model using three publicly available databases: DEAP, DREAMER, and DASPS. The results reveal that the proposed multivariate deep CNN approach coupled with β-rhythm has obtained the accuracy values of 98.91%, 98.45%, and 98.69% for LV vs. HV, LA vs. HA, and LD vs. HD emotion classification strategies, respectively using DEAP database with 10-fold cross-validation (CV) scheme. Similarly, the accuracy values of 98.56%, 98.82%, and 98.99% are obtained for LV vs. HV, LA vs. HA, and LD vs. HD classification schemes, respectively, using deep CNN and θ-rhythm. The proposed multi-channel rhythm-specific deep CNN classification model has obtained the average accuracy value of 57.14% using α-rhythm and trial-specific CV using DASPS database. Moreover, for 8-quadrant based emotion classification strategy, the deep CNN based classifier has obtained an overall accuracy value of 24.37% using γ-rhythms of multi-channel EEG signals. Our developed deep CNN model can be used for real-time automated emotion recognition applications.

Abstract
Chiral superconductors are novel topological materials with finite angular momentum Cooper pairs circulating around a unique chiral axis, thereby spontaneously breaking time-reversal symmetry. They are rather scarce and usually feature triplet pairing: a canonical example is the chiral p-wave state realized in the A-phase of superfluid He3. Chiral triplet superconductors are, however, topologically fragile with the corresponding gapless boundary modes only weakly protected against symmetry-preserving perturbations in contrast to their singlet counterparts. Using muon spin relaxation measurements, here we report that the weakly correlated pnictide compound LaPt3P has the two key features of a chiral superconductor: spontaneous magnetic fields inside the superconducting state indicating broken time-reversal symmetry and low temperature linear behaviour in the superfluid density indicating line nodes in the order parameter. Using symmetry analysis, first principles band structure calculation and mean-field theory, we unambiguously establish that the superconducting ground state of LaPt3P is a chiral d-wave singlet.

The elliptic flow of electrons from beauty hadron decays at midrapidity (|y|<0.8) is measured in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The azimuthal distribution of the particles produced in the collisions can be parametrized with a Fourier expansion, in which the second harmonic coefficient represents the elliptic flow, v_{2}. The v_{2} coefficient of electrons from beauty hadron decays is measured for the first time in the transverse momentum (p_{T}) range 1.3-6 GeV/c in the centrality class 30%-50%. The measurement of electrons from beauty-hadron decays exploits their larger mean proper decay length cτ≈500 μm compared to that of charm hadrons and most of the other background sources. The v_{2} of electrons from beauty hadron decays at midrapidity is found to be positive with a significance of 3.75 σ. The results provide insights into the degree of thermalization of beauty quarks in the medium. A model assuming full thermalization of beauty quarks is strongly disfavored by the measurement at high p_{T}, but is in agreement with the results at low p_{T}. Transport models including substantial interactions of beauty quarks with an expanding strongly interacting medium describe the measurement within uncertainties.

Abstract
Cosmic ray muon flux is measured by the coincidence technique using plastic scintillation detectors in the High Energy Physics Detector Laboratory at Bose Institute, Kolkata. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and nationwide complete lockdown, the laboratory was closed from the end of March 2020 till the end of May 2020. After lockdown, although the city is not in its normal state, we still were able to take data on some days. The lockdown imposed a strict restriction on the transport service other than the emergency ones and also most of the industries were shut down in and around the city. This lockdown has significant effect on the atmospheric conditions in terms of change in the concentration of air pollutants. We have measured the cosmic ray flux before and after the lockdown to observe the apparent change if any, due to change in the atmospheric conditions. In this article, we report the measured cosmic ray flux at Kolkata (22.58∘ N 88.42∘ E and 11 m above the Sea Level) along with the major air pollutants present in the atmosphere before and after the lockdown.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Sperm mitochondria are the major site of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and excess production during freezing-thawing process inflicts oxidative damages to spermatozoa. Buffalo spermatozoa are more prone to oxidative damage due to inherently more polyunsaturated fatty acids and low cholesterol to phospholipids ratio in the plasma membrane. A mitochondrial targeted antioxidant, Mito-TEMPO was used in this study. OBJECTIVE To study the effect of Mito-TEMPO incorporated semen extender on the post-thaw semen quality in buffalo. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 18 ejaculates from three murrah buffalo bulls with ≥70% individual progressive motility were utilized for the study. Each semen sample was equally divided and extended with five groups: Group I (Control, without Mito-TEMPO addition); Group II (10 µM Mito-TEMPO); Group III (50 µM Mito-TEMPO); Group IV (100 µM Mito-TEMPO); Group V (500 µM Mito-TEMPO) to have 80×106 progressive motile sperm/mL of extender, filled and sealed in French mini straws (0.25 mL) and frozen following equilibration. The effect of Mito-TEMPO was assessed at fresh/post-dilution and post-thaw stages by evaluating physico-morphological attributes and functional membrane integrity such as hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOST). RESULTS Initial progressive motility, viability, acrosomal integrity and HOS response was significantly (p<0.05) improved and sperm abnormality was significantly (p<0.05) reduced in extended semen with Mito-TEMPO (50 µM) compared to control at post-thaw stage, although improvement was also observed at 10 and 100 µM in post-thaw samples. CONCLUSION Mito-TEMPO incorporated semen extender at 50 µM concentration, could be part of a rationale for improving post-thaw semen quality in buffalo.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lipid peroxidation (LPO) due to oxidative stress leads to structural and functional changes in spermatozoa. OBJECTIVE To evaluate any association of various seminal characteristics at the pre- and post-cryopreservation stages with LPO and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in Murrah buffalo semen samples. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty-five ejaculates from seven bulls were processed for cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen. RESULTS Only 31 (47.7%) samples were found satisfactory for inclusion in the further artificial insemination. A strong negative correlation was observed between LPO and individual progressive motility, TAC, viability, plasma membrane integrity as well as acrosome integrity of fresh spermatozoa. At the post-thaw stage, post-thaw motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity and acrosome integrity had strong positive correlation with TAC. CONCLUSION The effort to minimize LPO and enhance TAC shall play a pivotal role in improving buffalo semen quality upon cryopreservation.
