Abstract
INTRODUCTION This phase 3, randomized, open-label, active-controlled, multicenter study investigated the efficacy of triptorelin pamoate prolonged-release (PR) 3-month in Chinese patients with endometriosis by demonstrating the noninferiority of the 3-month formulation to the standard of care, triptorelin acetate PR 1-month. METHODS The trial was conducted in 24 clinical centers in China, and included 300 Chinese women (18-45 years) with endometriosis and regular menstrual cycles who required treatment with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist for 6 months. One group of patients (n = 150) was treated with triptorelin pamoate PR 3-month (15 mg per injection, once every 12 weeks), and the other (n = 150) with triptorelin acetate PR 1-month (3.75 mg per injection, once every 4 weeks). The primary outcome measure was the proportion of patients with estradiol (E2) concentrations suppressed to castration levels (≤ 184 pmol/L, or 50 pg/mL) after 12 weeks of treatment. RESULTS Triptorelin pamoate PR 3-month was noninferior to triptorelin acetate PR 1-month for the treatment of endometriosis: over 98% of patients in both groups were chemically castrated at week 12. Both formulations were also equally efficacious in reducing endometriosis-associated pelvic pain, and reducing serum concentrations of E2, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone over time. No new safety concerns were identified. CONCLUSION Triptorelin pamoate PR 3-month is a valid alternative to triptorelin acetate PR 1-month for the treatment of Chinese women with endometriosis, with fewer injections and a potentially lower burden of care. Abstract
Background: More than 40% of lung cancer patients are diagnosed at ages over 70. However, the genomic and clinical characteristics among them remain elusive. Here, we performed targeted capture sequence to characterize the mutational spectrum of Chinese lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients across ages. Patients and Methods: 2025 LUAD patients were divided into three groups: young (≤50 years old) (n=416, 20.54%), intermediate (51~69 years old) (n=1271, 62.77%), and aged (≥70 years old) (n=338, 16.69%). 1,021-gene panel and 59-gene panel were used for sequencing with tissue samples. Genetic alterations and tumor mutation burden (TMB) in LUAD patients were investigated. Results: The frequency of mutations affecting 20 genes were significantly higher in aged group than in young group, and fourteen of them were not reported before, including involved in cell cycle/apoptosis signaling (FAT1, FAT2), DNA damage repair (FANCA and FANCM), chromatin histone modification (KDM6A), RTK/RAS/PI3K signaling (FLT4 and MTOR), NOTCH signaling (NOTCH1, NOTCH2 and NOTCH4) and other signaling pathway or cellular regulatory factor (KEAP1, ASXL1, EPHB1 and ABCB1). Six previously reported mutated genes (RBM10, KRAS, LRP1B, CDKN2A and KMT2C/D) were also significantly more frequent in aged group. Among clinical actionable mutation sites, KRAS mutation was presented more common in aged group; both MET exon 14 skipping and MET amplification were significantly positively correlated with old age; the fusions of ALK, ROS1, RET and ERBB2 exon 20 insertion were less frequent in aged group. Furthermore, a higher level of TMB was found in aged group compared with young group. Conclusion: In this study, we revealed the differences of somatic genetic mutations and TMB between young and aged LUAD patients, which may provide directions of targeted therapy and advantages of immunotherapy for the elderly in the future.

Abstract
What is already known about this topic? Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the most serious form of cardiovascular diseases. The case fatality rate (CFR) of AMI patients is an important index to reflect the prognosis of AMI. What is added by this report? During the study period, the overall 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day CFR of AMI was 5.9%, 6.9%, and 7.6%, respectively. The CFRs in grade Ⅲ hospitals were lower than in grade Ⅱ hospitals, and the in-hospital CFR was significantly lower than that in post-discharge out-of-hospital. What are the implications for public health practice? This study can provide evidence for targeted prevention and highlight the need to strengthen the level of treatment of patients with AMI in grade Ⅱ hospitals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to systematically analyze the relationship between preterm (PT), low birth weight (LBW), and developmental defects of enamel (DDE) in the primary dentition. METHODS Following the retrieval of the databases, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies, and cohort studies on the relationship between PT, LBW and DDE, which had been published in English or Chinese up to January 2022 were included. The data about odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were extracted and calculated using STATA 12.0 Software. Case-control studies were evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), while cross-sectional studies and cohort studies were evaluated using the JBI scale. The heterogeneity of each study was evaluated using the Q test. RESULTS A total of 15 studies were included, of which 8 studied the relationship between PT and DDE, and 13 explored the relationship between LBW and DDE including three about the relationship between very low birth weight (VLBW) and DDE. Seven studies explored the relationship between PT, LBW, and DDE. The results of this meta-analysis showed that both PT and LBW especially VLBW (OR = 7.19, 95% CI: 4.98-10.38) were risk factors for DDE in the primary dentition (OR = 2.33, 95% CI: 1.55-3.51) (OR = 1.67, 95% CI: 1.08-2.59). The subgroup results showed that PT and LBW were both associated with the occurrence of enamel hypoplasia (EHP) (OR = 6.89, 95% CI: 3.33-14.34; OR = 2.78, 95% CI: 2.10-3.68) rather than enamel opacity (OR = 0.94, 95% CI: 0.55-1.61; OR = 1.03, 95% CI: 0.66-1.61). There was no publication bias about the included studies (P = 0.75 > 0.05; P = 0.47 > 0.05). CONCLUSION This meta-analysis demonstrated that both PT and LBW especially VLBW are associated with a higher risk of DDE in the primary dentition. PT and LBW are both related to the occurrence of EHP. However, the relationship between PT, LBW, and enamel opacity has not been verified. Abstract
Coproduction of hydrogen (H2) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) from water splitting is one of the most promising ways to alleviate the energy crisis and environmental pollution. Here, we first show the synthesis and photocatalytic property of an organic semiconductor (DAnTMS compound) from 9,10-dibromoanthracene and trimethylsilylacetylene. Then, a metal-free photocatalyst of a DAnTMS/carbon dot (DAnTMS/CD) composite was designed and fabricated, which achieved the efficient photocatalytic production of H2 and H2O2 without usage of any organic solvents and sacrificial agents. Under visible light, the DAnTMS/CD composite could produce H2O2 with a maximum rate of 396.7 μmol g-1 h-1 and H2 with a maximum rate of 265.0 μmol g-1 h-1 in pure water. Transient photovoltage tests showed that CDs changed the interfacial electron transfer kinetics and served as the active site for highly efficient H2 evolution. This work provided a deep insight into the function of CDs in regulating the catalytic property of organic photocatalysts.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To explore the role of continuous infusion of intraoperative dexmedetomidine in chronic pain after thoracotomy via the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway. METHODS Seventy-five patients undergoing thoracotomy were randomized into the control group (CG, n=37) and the observation group (OG, n=38). After induction of anesthesia for 30 min and until the end of surgery, the OG was infused with 0.4 μg/(kg·h) dexmedetomidine, and the CG was infused with the same amount of normal saline. RESULTS After operation, the OG had lower mean arterial pressure, heart rate, visual analogue scale (VAS) scores, incidence of chronic pain and neuropathic pain, TLR4 and NF-κB expressions, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) levels as well as epinephrine and norepinephrine levels than the CG (P < 0.05). The number of times the patient pressed the button for pain medication and the dose administered in the OG were less than those in the CG (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Continuous infusion of intraoperative dexmedetomidine can maintain perioperative hemodynamic stability in patients undergoing thoracotomy and reduce the stress response, postoperative pain, consumption of analgesic drugs, and the incidence of post-chronic and neuropathic pain, which is closely related to the reduction of inflammation via the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Few studies have been conducted on the associations of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) with cognitive impairment among Chinese older adults through a prospective design. OBJECTIVE This study was aimed to evaluate the associations of BMI, WC, and WHtR with cognitive impairment. METHODS We included participants aged 65 years and older in 2014 at baseline and 2018 follow-up surveys of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS). BMI, WC, and WHtR were calculated from measured weight, height, and waist circumference. Mini-Mental State Examination was utilized to assess cognitive impairment. Modified Poisson regression was used for calculating prevalence ratios, risk ratios, and 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS A total of 5156 participants were included in 2014 at baseline. The prevalence of cognitive impairment was 42.5%, 26.7%, and 21.2% in underweight, normal-weight, and overweight/obesity participants defined by BMI categories, respectively, and 24.1% and 26.8% in central obesity participants defined by WC and WHtR cutoffs, respectively. Prospectively, participants with underweight were more likely to suffer from cognitive impairment (RR = 1.258, 95% CI: [1.016, 1.559]), but no risk was found among participants with overweight/obesity after adjustment. Regardless of whether covariates were adjusted or not, no effect on cognitive impairment was found in participants with WC and WHtR groups in the follow-up survey. CONCLUSIONS Underweight may be a significant risk factor for the cognitive impairment of Chinese older adults. Weight management programs targeting older adults should attach importance to achieving and maintaining optimal body weight and improving cognitive function.

Abstract
CONTEXT Naoxintong (NXT), a prescribed traditional Chinese medicine, widely used in cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases, could be effective in diabetic wounds. OBJECTIVE This study evaluates the wound healing activity of NXT by employing an excisional wound splinting model. MATERIALS AND METHODS NXT was dissolved in saline and given daily by gavage. Wounds were induced at the dorsum of non-diabetic (db/+) and diabetic (db/db) mice and treated with saline or 700 mg/kg/d NXT for 16 days. Wound closure was measured every four days. Extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling, collagen deposition, leukocyte infiltration and expression of Col-3, CK14, CXCL1, CXCL2, MPO, Ly6G, CD68, CCR7, CD206, p-JAK1, p-STAT3 and p-STAT6 was analysed. RESULTS NXT significantly accelerated rate of wound closure increased from 70% to 84%, accompanied by up-regulation of collagen deposition and ECM at days 16 post-injury. Moreover, NXT alleviated neutrophil infiltration, accompanied by down-regulation of CXCL1 and CXCL2 mRNA expression. In addition, NXT markedly augmented neutrophil efferocytosis. In diabetic wounds, the levels of M1 marker gene (CCR7) increased, while M2 marker gene (CD206) decreased, demonstrating a pro-inflammatory shift. Application of NXT increased M2 macrophage phenotype in db/db mice. Mechanistically, NXT treatment increased expression level of p-STAT3 and p-STAT6 at days 3 post-injury, indicating NXT mediated macrophages towards M2 phenotype and alleviated inflammation in diabetic wounds by activation of STAT3 and STAT6. CONCLUSIONS Our study provides evidence that NXT accelerates diabetic wound healing by attenuating inflammatory response, which provides an important basis for use of NXT in the treatment of chronic diabetic wound healing.

Abstract
The dissociation of a single water molecule on a ZnO(101̅0) surface has been investigated at the atomic level by low temperature STM manipulation combined with DFT calculations. The positive pulses applied from the tip inject electrons into the system and break the bonding between water and the ZnO surface, thus leading to the hopping of water molecules. Negative pulses inject holes wherein the lower energy ones split the free O-H bond pointing out of the surface whereas the higher energy ones split the second O-H bond that is directed to the surface through hydrogen bonding. Moreover, the yielded proton and hydroxyl species present distinctly charged status through different reaction pathways, manifesting their unique impacts on tailoring the surface properties of the metal oxide.

Abstract
Abstract Abstract: Objective To analyze the first epidemic spread of the novel coronavirus Delta variant in China based on public security forensic perspective, investigate its transmission characteristics, contributing factors, and epidemiologic research experience, and provide a reference for the prevention and control of the epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus variant. Methods Based on the information that public security forensic experts obtained from front-line epidemiologic research, the gender, age, place of residence, transmission route and infectivity of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed cases, asymptomatic infected persons and their close contacts in Guangzhou caused by the novel coronavirus Delta variant were analyzed. The basic reproduction number (R0) during this epidemic in Guangzhou was calculated. Results Among the 153 cases infected with novel coronavirus Delta variant in the epidemic, 63 cases were male and 90 cases were female, their age ranging from 1 to 92 years, with a median age of 49 years. The main route of transmission was close contact, including dining together, co-living, and close contact in the same residential building. There were 31 cases of family clusters, 25 of which were in Liwan District. The epidemic lasted from May 26 to May 29, and the R0 remained above 4.0. After May 30, R0 began to decline and remained below 1.0 from June 7. Conclusion The novel coronavirus Delta variant is highly infectious, the crowd is generally susceptible to infection and family cluster cases are easy to occur. So, it is necessary to precisely prevent and control this strain. Public security forensic experts have both medical literacy and criminal investigation capabilities, they can play a more professional role in epidemic prevention and control.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effects of different types of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) on 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Method: In this meta-analysis, we searched for randomized controlled trials on the effect of SGLT2i on 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Three databases, namely PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library, were searched. The search was organized on the concept of 3 conceptual groups: the first group contained terms used to describe SGLT2i, the second group contained terms related to blood pressure, and the third group contained terms used to describe randomized controlled trials. The search time was from the establishment of the database to December 2020. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were formulated in accordance with the requirements of the Cochrane systematic review. According to whether the heterogeneity of the study was significant or not, a random effect model or a fixed effect model were used to conduct the analysis on the impact of different types of SGLT2i on 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and day and night blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension. Further subgroup analysis was performed to define potential factors, which might lead to clinical heterogeneity. Results: Seven clinical trials were finally included. The result of the meta-analysis showed that compared with placebo group, SGLT2i could reduce the 24-hour dynamic systolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 4.36 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa). Reduction was 4.59, 3.74, 5.06, and 3.64 mmHg by canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin, and ertugliflozin respectively; SGLT2i could reduce the 24-hour dynamic diastolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 2.20 mmHg, and the reduction was 2.30, 1.22, 2.00, and 2.69 mmHg by canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin and ertugliflozin respectively. SGLT2i could reduce the daytime systolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 5.25 mmHg, and reduction was 5.38, 4.87, 6.00, and 4.37 mmHg by canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin and ertugliflozin, respectively. Simultaneously, SGLT2i could reduce the diastolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 2.62 mmHg, and the reduction was 2.56, 2.47, and 2.80 mmHg by canagliflozin, empagliflozin and ertugliflozin, respectively. SGLT2i could reduce the nighttime systolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 3.62 mmHg, and the reduction was 2.09, 2.06, 3.92, and 2.45 mmHg by canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin and ertugliflozin, respectively. At the same time, SGLT2i could reduce the nighttime diastolic blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension by 1.60 and 1.51 mmHg, the reduction was 1.53 and 2.58 mmHg by canagliflozin, empagliflozin and ertugliflozin, respectively. Conclusion: SGLT2i can reduce 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

Abstract
Summary
Chatterjee (2021) introduced a simple new rank correlation coefficient that has attracted much attention recently. The coefficient has the unusual appeal that it not only estimates a population quantity first proposed by Dette et al. (2013) that is zero if and only if the underlying pair of random variables is independent, but also is asymptotically normal under independence. This paper compares Chatterjee’s new correlation coefficient with three established rank correlations that also facilitate consistent tests of independence, namely Hoeffding’s $D$, Blum–Kiefer–Rosenblatt’s $R$, and Bergsma–Dassios–Yanagimoto’s $\tau^*$. We compare the computational efficiency of these rank correlation coefficients in light of recent advances, and investigate their power against local rotation and mixture alternatives. Our main results show that Chatterjee’s coefficient is unfortunately rate-suboptimal compared to $D$, $R$ and $\tau^*$. The situation is more subtle for a related earlier estimator of Dette et al. (2013). These results favour $D$, $R$ and $\tau^*$ over Chatterjee’s new correlation coefficient for the purpose of testing independence.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of depressive symptoms and associated factors in middle-aged and elderly people in China. METHODS Data were obtained from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) 2018. We selected 16,767 respondents over the age of 45 as samples for research and analysis. A short version of the Center for Epidemiological Research Depression Scale (CES-D) was used to assess depressive symptoms. Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis were used to explore the related factors of depressive symptoms. Back Propagation neural network model was established to examine the ranking of influencing factors of depressive symptoms. RESULTS There was 24.1% prevalence of depressive symptoms among the respondents. The 14 important variables affecting depressive symptoms were screened out with the multivariable logistic regression. Based on the BP neural network to rank the degree of importance, the top five important variables were determined, which were subjective well-being (100.0%), self-reported health (92.0%), life satisfaction (83.4%), ADL disability (74.0%), and marital status (69.7%). LIMITATIONS This study was a cross-sectional study, and causality cannot be determined. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of depressive symptoms in middle-aged and elderly Chinese people was high. Subjective quality of life evaluation, health condition and marital status were important factors that have an impact on depressive symptoms.

Abstract
B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) is an attractive therapeutic target highly expressed on differentiated plasma cells in multiple myeloma and other B-cell malignancies. GSK2857916 (belantamab mafodotin, BLENREP) is a BCMA-targeting antibody-drug conjugate approved for the treatment of relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. We report that GSK2857916 induces immunogenic cell death in BCMA-expressing cancer cells and promotes dendritic cell activation in vitro and in vivo GSK2857916 treatment enhances intratumor immune cell infiltration and activation, delays tumor growth, and promotes durable complete regressions in immune-competent mice bearing EL4 lymphoma tumors expressing human BCMA (EL4-hBCMA). Responding mice are immune to rechallenge with EL4 parental and EL4-hBCMA cells, suggesting engagement of an adaptive immune response, immunologic memory, and tumor antigen spreading, which are abrogated upon depletion of endogenous CD8+ T cells. Combinations with OX40/OX86, an immune agonist antibody, significantly enhance antitumor activity and increase durable complete responses, providing a strong rationale for clinical evaluation of GSK2857916 combinations with immunotherapies targeting adaptive immune responses, including T-cell-directed checkpoint modulators.

Abstract
The diagnosis of preeclampsia in China currently relies on limited clinical signs and unspecific laboratory findings. These are inadequate predictors of preeclampsia development, limiting early diagnosis and appropriate management. Previously, the Prediction of Short-Term Outcome in Pregnant Women with Suspected Preeclampsia Study (PROGNOSIS) and PROGNOSIS Asia demonstrated that a soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1)/placental growth factor (PlGF) ratio of ≤38 can be used to rule out preeclampsia within 1 week, with negative predictive values of 99.3 and 98.6%, respectively. This is an exploratory sub-analysis of the Chinese cohort (n = 225) of the PROGNOSIS Asia study. The primary objectives were to assess the predictive performance of using the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio to rule out preeclampsia within 1 week and to rule in preeclampsia within 4 weeks. The sFlt-1/PlGF ratio was also examined for short-term prediction of fetal adverse outcomes, maternal adverse outcomes, and time to delivery. The overall prevalence of preeclampsia was 17.3%. With the use of an sFlt-1/PlGF ratio of ≤38, the negative predictive value for ruling out preeclampsia within 1 week was 97.3% [95% confidence interval (CI), 93.8-99.1], with a sensitivity of 64.3% and specificity of 85.3%. With the use of an sFlt-1/PlGF ratio of >38, the positive predictive value for ruling in preeclampsia within 4 weeks was 35.0% (95% CI, 20.6-51.7), with a sensitivity of 50.0% and specificity of 86.8%. In the analyses of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and fetal adverse outcomes, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 92.8% (95% CI, 83.5-98.7) for ruling out fetal adverse outcomes within 1 week and 79.9% (95% CI, 68.1-90.3) for ruling in fetal adverse outcomes within 4 weeks. An sFlt-1/PlGF ratio of >38 increased the likelihood of imminent delivery 3.3-fold compared with a ratio of ≤38 [hazard ratio, 3.3 (95% CI, 2.1-5.1)]. This sub-analysis confirms the high predictive performance of the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio cutoff of 38 for short-term prediction of preeclampsia in Chinese women, which may help prevent unnecessary hospitalization of women with low risk of developing preeclampsia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Limited published research has examined the relationships of negative life events and coping styles with sleep quality in Chinese junior high school students. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of poor sleep quality and to clarify the role of coping styles between negative life events and sleep quality. METHODS A cross-sectional study of 3081 students was conducted in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, Southeastern China. Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, and Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index were applied to assess negative life events, coping styles, and sleep quality, respectively. Descriptive analyses, independent-samples t tests, one-way analyses of variance, Pearson correlation analyses, and structural equation modeling (SEM) were applied to analyze the data. RESULTS The prevalence of poor sleep quality was 26.7%. Negative life events (B = 0.038, P < 0.001) and negative coping style (B = 0.049, P < 0.001) demonstrated a positive association with poor sleep quality, while positive coping style indicated a negative association with poor sleep quality (B = -0.029, P < 0.001). Interactions of negative life events and coping styles with sleep quality were not found (all P > 0.05). The association between negative life events and sleep quality was mediated by negative coping styles. CONCLUSIONS Our results indicated that poor sleep quality was common in these Chinese adolescents. Negative life events and negative coping style were associated with an increased prevalence of poor sleep quality, while the positive coping style was related to a decreased prevalence of poor sleep quality. A negative coping style mediated the association between negative life events and sleep quality.

Abstract
PURPOSE To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to elucidate the effects of raloxifene on the lipid profile in elderly individuals. METHODS A systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs was performed following the PRISMA statement. Data on triglycerides (TGs), total cholesterol (TC), HDL-C, and LDL-C were extracted. Relevant publications up to October 2020 were detected through searches in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase databases. Changes were reported as weighted mean differences (WMDs) and 95% CIs using random-effects models. FINDINGS Nine studies were selected, with a duration of intervention ranging from 2 and 12 months and a raloxifene dose of 60 to 120 mg/d. Studies were performed in healthy individuals and in those with disorders, such as osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, and kidney disease required long-term hemodialysis. Overall, TG (WMD, -6.50 mg/dL; 95% CI, -34.18 to 21.20 mg/eL; P = 0.646), LDL-C (WMD, -17.86 mg/dL; 95% CI, -42.44 to 6.72 mg/dL; P = 0.154), and HDL-C (WMD, 2.35 mg/dL; 95% CI, -1.14 to 5.84 mg/dL; P = 0.187) levels did not change significantly after the administration of raloxifene. In contrast, TC levels decreased after raloxifene therapy (WMD, -6.59 mg/dL; 95% CI, -13.13 to -0.05 mg/dL; P = 0.048). IMPLICATIONS Raloxifene therapy decreased TC levels but did not alter TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C concentrations in elderly individuals. Regarding the LDL-C levels, although the finding lacked statistical significance, we believe that there was a mean reduction that deserves further clinical attention as much as TC.

Abstract
The photocatalytic conversion of organic wastewater into value-added chemicals is a promising strategy to solve the environmental issue and energy crisis. Herein, Co/In2O3 nanotubes with a double-shell structure, as a highly efficient photocatalyst, are synthesized by a one-step calcination method. The Co/In2O3 heterostructure shows an outstanding photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance of 4902 μmol h-1 g-1. Notably, these Co/In2O3 photocatalysts also achieve CO2 self-generation and in situ reduction conversion in acid organic wastewater (phenol solution), in which the high CO2 (47.5 μmol h-1 g-1) and CO (0.9 μmol h-1 g-1) evolution rates are demonstrated under solar irradiation. Transient photovoltage (TPV) tests demonstrate that Co nanoparticles on Co/In2O3 double-shell heterostructure serve as the CO2 reduction sites for the effective capture and stabilization of the photogenerated electrons.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the vision-related quality of life and the depression and anxiety rates in patients with neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration (nAMD). METHODS A cross-sectional study of patients with nAMD treated with intravitreal injections was performed. The patients completed two validated questionnaires: the Visual Functioning Questionnaire (VFQ-25, score from 0 to 100), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) questionnaire. Age, gender and visual acuity (VA) in the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) scale was registered. RESULTS Fifty-five patients with nAMD participated with a mean age of 80.9 ± 6.6 years-old (range 67-93) and a mean VA in the best eye of 73.5 ± 12.7 letters (range 44-95). The global VFQ-25 mean score was 57.4 ± 21.9 being 38.9 ± 13.2 for the general vision and 42.0 ± 19.5 for the general health. VA in the best eye was associated with the global score of the VFQ-25 scale (R = 0.608; P < .001), but no correlation was observed with general health (P = .936). In the HADS scale, 26.9% and 25.5% of patients had symptoms of depression and anxiety respectively. A negative correlation was found between the HADS and VFQ-25 scales for the general vision score (R = -0.438). CONCLUSION This study elucidates the impact of vision impairment and the visual functioning in nAMD, describing an important rate of depression and anxiety symptoms.

Abstract
Oroxylin A (OA) has been shown to simultaneously increase coronary flow and provide a strong anti-inflammatory effect. In this study, we described the angiogenic properties of OA. OA treatment accelerated perfusion recovery, reduced tissue injury, and promoted angiogenesis after hindlimb ischemia (HLI). In addition, OA regulated the secretion of multiple cytokines, including vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), angiopoietin-2 (ANG-2), fibroblast growth factor-basic (FGF-2), and platelet derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB). Specifically, those multiple cytokines were involved in cell migration, cell population proliferation, and angiogenesis. These effects were observed at 3, 7, and 14 days after HLI. In skeletal muscle cells, OA promoted the release of VEGFA and ANG-2. After OA treatment, the conditioned medium derived from skeletal muscle cells was found to significantly induce endothelial cell (EC) proliferation. OA also induced EC migration by activating the Ras homolog gene family member A (RhoA)/Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase 2 (ROCK-II) signaling pathway and the T-box20 (TBX20)/prokineticin 2 (PROK2) signaling pathway. In addition, OA was able to downregulate the number of macrophages and neutrophils, along with the secretion of interleukin-1β, at 3 days after HLI. These results expanded current knowledge about the beneficial effects of OA in angiogenesis and blood flow recovery. This research could open new directions for the development of novel therapeutic intervention for patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Abstract
Nuclear DNA-binding TCF proteins, which act as the main downstream effectors of Wnt signaling, are essential for the regulation of cell fate and innate immunity. However, their role during viral infection in shrimp remains unknown. Herein, we demonstrated that Litopenaeus vannamei TCF (LvTcf) acts independently of Lvβ-catenin to promote interferon-like protein LvVago1 production, thus mounting the response to WSSV infection. Further, we observed that WSV083, a WSSV serine/threonine protein kinase, bound to LvTcf and phosphorylated it. Phosphorylated LvTcf was then recognized and degraded via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Moreover, mass spectrometry analyses indicated that the T39 and T104 residues of LvTcf were target sites phosphorylated by WSV083. Point mutation analyses suggested that additional sites of LvTcf may undergo phosphorylation via WSV083. Taken together, the current work provides valuable insights into host immunity and viral pathogenesis. LvTcf is not only a modulator of shrimp innate immunity but is also an important target for WSSV immune evasion. Thus, the current findings will help improve disease control in shrimps.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to clarify the protective role of dexmedetomidine in thoracoscopic-assisted thoracic surgery (TATS), including control of the intraoperative heart rate, blood pressure, and myocardial injury markers. MATERIAL AND METHODS The patients who underwent TATS were divided into 2 equal groups: the dexmedetomidine group (dexmedetomidine pumped at 0.5 µg/kg for >10 min before the administration of anesthesia and at 0.5 µg/kg in the maintenance period) and the control group (pumped normal saline for >10 min before the administration of anesthesia). The data recorded for each patient were heart rate (preoperative, maximum intraoperative, and minimum intraoperative), systolic and diastolic blood pressure, intraoperative hemodynamic data, and intraoperative cardiovascular drugs administered. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was performed to assess the postoperative levels of cardiac troponin I (cTnI), creatine kinase isoenzyme, myoglobin, and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). RESULTS There were no significant differences in the age, sex, body height, body weight, American Society of Anesthesiologists classification grade, resection mode, operation time, ejection fraction, basal heart rate, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the 2 groups. In the dexmedetomidine group, the patients' maximum intraoperative heart rate and diastolic pressure decreased, and the postoperative hospital stay period was shorter. The postoperative peripheral blood test for the dexmedetomidine group showed higher NT-proBNP levels and lower cTnI levels. CONCLUSIONS Preoperative administration of dexmedetomidine can benefit hemodynamic stability, protect the cardiovascular system in the intraoperative and postoperative periods, and shorten postoperative hospitalization.

Abstract
Dendrobium mixture (DMix) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine widely used for preventing and treating diabetic nephropathy (DN). Autophagy contributes to DN development and progression. The present study aimed to investigate the mechanism underlying the protective effects of DMix on the kidneys of rats with DN and to determine whether this involves autophagy. Herein, a high‑sugar and high‑fat diet, combined with the intra‑abdominal injection of low‑dose streptozocin, was used to induce DN in 40 Sprague‑Dawley male rats. In total, 10 additional rats were used as controls. The rats with DN were then randomly divided into three groups and treated with DMix, gliquidone or saline via gastric administration for 8 weeks. Body weight, kidney weight, kidney index, fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood lipid, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), insulin, blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine levels, as well as the 24‑h urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER) were measured. H&E, Periodic Acid‑Schiff and Masson staining were used to examine the renal pathology. The mRNA and protein expression levels of LC3 and Beclin‑1 in renal tissues were measured using reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Western blotting was conducted to measure the protein expression levels of PI3K, phosphorylated (p)‑PI3K, Akt, p‑Akt, mTOR, p‑mTOR, LC3 and Beclin‑1 in renal tissues. It was found that DMix significantly reduced the FBG, blood lipids, HbA1c and insulin levels, kidney weight, kidney index and UAER in rats with DN, as well as improved renal function. Rats with DN showed notable glomerular hypertrophy, an increase in mesangial matrix content and renal interstitial fibrosis. Moreover, DMix notably reduced kidney damage. The results demonstrated that DMix inhibited the phosphorylation of PI3K, Akt and mTOR in the kidney tissues of rats with DN, and increased the protein and mRNA expression levels of LC3 and Beclin‑1. Therefore, it was suggested that DMix has protective effects on the kidney of rats with DN, which may be associated with the inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway and activation of renal autophagy by this traditional medicine.

Abstract
The aim was to systematically evaluate the probing depth (PD) reduction of lasers in scaling and root planing (SRP) of chronic periodontitis by network meta-analysis (NMA). Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) were searched through electronic-search and hand-search up to January 2020. Standard mean different (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were counted for PD reduction. The random-effects NMA were performed using mvmeta routine in STATA software (version 13). This NMA analysed seven periodontal treatments through 37 RCTs. No inconsistency was detected. Compared with mechanical SRP, significant differences were in favour of diode laser (DL) as adjunct at 3 months (SMD = 0.61; 95% CI range: 0.27-0.96) and Nd:YAG as adjunct (SMD = 0.29; 95% CI range: 0.03-0.55), Er,Cr:YSGG as monotherapy (SMD = 0.37; 95% CI range: 0.04-0.71) and Er,Cr:YSGG as adjunct (SMD = 0.53; 95% CI range: 0.23-0.84) at 6 months after treatment. Compared with Er:YAG as monotherapy, significant differences were in favour of DL as adjunct at 6 months (SMD = 0.51; 95% CI range: 0.07-0.95) after treatment. In terms of PD reduction at 3-month follow-up, the ranking result from best to worst was Nd:YAG as adjunct, DL as adjunct, Er:YAG as adjunct, Er,Cr:YSGG as monotherapy, Er:YAG as monotherapy and mechanical SRP. In terms of PD reduction at 6-month follow-up, the ranking result was DL as adjunct, Nd:YAG as adjunct, Er:YAG as adjunct, Er,Cr:YSGG as adjunct, Er:YAG as monotherapy, Er,Cr:YSGG as monotherapy and mechanical SRP. Laser-assisted periodontal treatment has better PD reduction.

Abstract
Acupuncture is an effective alternative therapy for pain management. Evidence suggests that acupuncture relieves pain by exciting somatic afferent nerve fibers. However, the mechanism underlying the interaction between neurons in different layers of the spinal dorsal horn induced by electroacupuncture (EA) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the mechanism of EA relieving inflammatory muscle pain, which was associated with activation of the spontaneous firing of low-threshold mechanoreceptor (LTM) neurons and inhibition of wide dynamic range (WDR) neuronal activities in the spinal dorsal horn of rats. Inflammatory muscle pain was induced by injecting complete Freund’s adjuvant into the right biceps femoris muscle. EA with intensity of threshold of A fibers (Ta) in Liangqiu (ST34) muscle considerably inhibited the abnormal spontaneous activities of electromyography (EMG) due to muscle inflammation. While EA with intensity of C-fiber threshold (Tc) increased the abnormal activities of EMG. EA with Ta also ameliorated the imbalance of weight-bearing behavior. A microelectrode array with 750-μm depth covering 32 channels was used to record the neuronal activities of WDR and LTM in different layers of the spinal dorsal horn. The spontaneous firing of LTM neurons was enhanced by EA-Ta, while the spontaneous firing of WDR neurons was inhibited. Moreover, EA-Ta led to a significant inverse correlation between changes in the frequency of WDR and LTM neurons (r = −0.64, p < 0.05). In conclusion, the results indicated that EA could alleviate inflammatory muscle pain, which was associated with facilitation of the spontaneous firing of LTM neurons and inhibition of WDR neuronal activities. This provides a promising evidence that EA-Ta could be applied to relieve muscular inflammatory pain in clinical practice.

Abstract
Abstinence is one of the important measures for heroin addiction. However, it is unknown whether long-term abstinence (LA) would improve the coupling among three core brain networks (salience, default mode, and executive control) and decrease craving in treated heroin addicts. Forty-three heroin addicts with LA, 27 heroin addicts with short-term abstinence (SA), and 46 demographically matched healthy controls (HC) participated in the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging study. The authors compared the functional connectivity among the three groups and examined how the coupling among salience, default mode, and executive control networks related to duration of abstinence and craving before and after drug cue exposure among heroin addicts. Compared with the SA group, with a tendency toward the HC group, the LA group showed lower drug cue-induced craving, stronger connectivity between the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (a key node of salience network) and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and right posterior parietal cortex (key nodes of executive control network), and stronger connectivity between the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and precuneus (a key node of default mode network). Meanwhile, the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex-precuneus connectivity positively correlated with duration of abstinence. The LA and SA groups demonstrated lower connectivity between the left anterior insula (a key node of salience network) and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and lower connectivity within the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, compared with the HC group. Our findings revealed that LA is associated with lower drug cue induced craving and improve the coupling among the three core brain networks in heroin addicts.

Abstract
Herein, we report the precise synthesis of a 3D highly strained all-phenylene bismacrocycle, termed conjoined (1,4)[10]cycloparaphenylenophane (SCPP[10]). This structure consists of a twisted benzene ring which is bridged twice by phenylene units anchored in two para-positions. The conjoined structure of SCPP[10] was confirmed in real space at the atomic scale by scanning tunneling microscopy. Theoretical calculations indicate that this bismacrocycle has a very high strain energy of 110.59 kcal mol-1 and the largest interphenylene torsion angle of 46.07° caused by multiple repulsive interactions. Furthermore, a 1:2 host-guest complex of SCPP[10] and [6,6]-phenyl-C61 -butyric acid methyl ester was investigated, which represents the first peanut-shaped 1:2 host-guest complex based on bismacrocycles.

Abstract
The growth of the economy in the tropics is faster than that in the rest of the world. However, whether this growth can have impacts on the environmental quality in the tropics is still a question. Here, we first introduce the terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity as an environmental indicator and then investigate the relationships between gross domestic product per capita, sectoral economies, and the terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity for different income countries in the tropics from 1995 to 2018. By using panel models, we find that there exists a significantly negative effect of the growth of gross domestic product per capita on terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity in the full panel and at low-income and lower middle-income levels but not at the upper middle-income level. The sectoral economies have different effects on the terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity at different income levels. Interestingly, the industrial sector dominates the degradation of the terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity in the lower middle-income countries; the agricultural sector exerts a significantly negative impact on the terrestrial carbon sequestration capacity at the low-income and upper middle-income levels, but largely offset by the growth of the service sector. These findings suggest that the balance between economic development and the natural environment is required for economic sustainability in the tropics.

Abstract
Previous studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) serve a vital role in the pathogenesis of Sjögren's syndrome (SS). The present study aimed to investigate the role of miR-155-5p in SS and determine its underlying molecular mechanism. An inflammatory lesion model was established by stimulating salivary gland epithelial cells (SGECs) with interferon-γ (IFN-γ). The apoptosis of SGECs was measured by using flow cytometry. Levels of proinflammatory factors were detected by reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and ELISA, respectively. Immunofluorescence was used for p65 staining. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was performed to verify the interaction between miR-155-5p and arrestin β2 (ARRB2). The protein levels in the NF-κB signaling pathway were assessed by western blotting. The results of the present study demonstrated that treatment with IFN-γ increased miR-155-5p expression, in addition to inducing apoptosis and inflammation in SGECs. Furthermore, overexpression of miR-155-5p promoted IFN-γ-induced apoptosis and inflammation in SGECs. Overexpression of miR-155-5p also increased Bax protein expression, enzyme activities of caspase 3 and caspase 9, release of inflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α, and decreased Bcl-2 protein expression in IFN-γ-treated SGECs. By contrast, all of the effects aforementioned were reversed following miR-155-5p knockdown. These results demonstrated that miR-155-5p activated the NF-κB signaling pathway, where treatment with the NF-κB inhibitor, pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate, reversed the effects of miR-155-5p overexpression on the inflammatory factors in IFN-γ-induced SGECs. miR-155-5p was demonstrated to target ARRB2 and negatively regulated its expression levels, such that overexpression of ARRB2 reversed the effects of miR-155-5p overexpression on the inflammatory response, apoptosis and the NF-κB signaling pathway in IFN-γ-treated SGECs. Collectively, results from the present study suggest that miR-155-5p may activate the NF-κB signaling pathway by negatively regulating ARRB2 to promote salivary gland damage during SS pathogenesis. This suggests that miR-155-5p may serve to be a potential target for the treatment of SS.

Abstract
Metacaspases (MCs), a class of cysteine-dependent proteases, act as important regulators in plant defense response. In maize genome, there are 11 ZmMCs which have been categorized into two types (type I and II) based on their structural differences. In this study, we investigated the different transcript patterns of 11 ZmMCs in maize defense response mediated by the nucleotide-binding, leucine-rich-repeat protein Rp1-D21. We further predicted that many cis-elements responsive to salicylic acid (SA), methyl jasmonate (MeJA), abscisic acid (ABA) and auxin were identified in the promoter regions of ZmMCs, and several different transcription factors were predicted to bind to their promoters. We analyzed the localization of ZmMCs with previously identified quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in maize disease resistance, and found that all other ZmMCs, except for ZmMC6-8, are co-located with at least one QTL associated with disease resistance to southern leaf blight, northern leaf blight, gray leaf spot or Fusarium ear rot. Based on previous RNA-seq analysis, different ZmMCs display different transcript levels in response to Cochliobolous heterostrophus and Fusarium verticillioides. All the results imply that the members of ZmMCs might have differential functions to different maize diseases. This study lays the basis for further investigating the roles of ZmMCs in maize disease resistance.

Abstract
Background:Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a condition characterized by major large-vessel vasculitis (LVV), and is most commonly found in young women (age <40 years) of East Asia countries. 18F-FDG-PET/CT has been widely used in the diagnosis and follow-up of cancers to gather functional information based on metabolic activity. In the present study, we evaluated the value of different parameters in 18F-FDG-PET/CT for assessing active TA disease, and we establish a simple, quantifiable, and effective disease activity evaluation model based on 18F-FDG-PET/CT. A comparison in the ability to identify active disease was performed between the established Kerr score and the new 18F-FDG-PET/CT was also performed.Objectives:To investigate the utility of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) in assessing disease activity in TA.Methods:Ninety-one patients with TA, were recruited from a Chinese cohort from October 2017 to January 2019. Clinical data, acute-phase reactants (APRs), and 18F-FDG-PET/CT findings were simultaneously recorded. The Physician Global Assessment was used as the gold standard to assess TA disease activity. The value of using 18F-FDG-PET/CT to identify active disease was evaluated, using erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) as a reference. Disease activity assessment models were constructed and concordance index (C-index), net reclassification index (NRI), and integrated discrimination index (IDI) were evaluated to compare the benefits of the new modes with ESR and Kerr score.Results:In total, 64 (70.3%) cases showed active disease. Higher levels of ESR and CRP, and lower interleukin (IL)-2R levels, were observed in active cases. 18F-FDG-PET/CT parameters, including SUVmean, SUVratio1, SUVratio2, sum of SUVmean, and sum of SUVmax, were significantly higher in active disease groups. The C index threshold of ESR to indicate active disease was 0.78 (95% CI: 0.69-0.88). The new activity assessment model combining ESR, sum of SUVmean, and IL-2R showed significant improvement in C index over the ESR method (0.96 vs. 0.78, P < 0.01; NRI 1.63, P < 0.01; and IDI 0.48, P < 0.01). Abstract
Background:ORAL Shift, a global Phase 3b/4 non-inferiority study, demonstrated sustained efficacy and safety of tofacitinib modified-release (MR) 11 mg once daily (QD) following methotrexate (MTX) withdrawal in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who achieved Clinical Disease Activity Index (CDAI) low disease activity (LDA) after treatment with tofacitinib + MTX.1Objectives:To assess predictors of durable clinical response in patients receiving tofacitinib MR 11 mg QD in ORAL Shift.Methods:ORAL Shift (NCT02831855) enrolled patients aged ≥18 years with moderate to severe RA and an inadequate response to MTX. Patients received open-label tofacitinib MR 11 mg QD + MTX for 24 weeks. Patients achieving LDA (CDAI score ≤10) at Week (W)24 entered the 24-week double-blind MTX withdrawal phase and were randomised 1:1 to receive tofacitinib MR 11 mg QD + placebo (tofacitinib monotherapy; ie blinded MTX withdrawal) or continue tofacitinib + MTX. In this post hoc analysis of randomised patients, we assessed predictors of durable response (maintenance of response from W24–48) per CDAI LDA and remission (CDAI score ≤2.8) criteria. All covariates were initially assessed for significance in a univariate logistic regression. Highly correlated covariates were reviewed to assess which would be removed prior to modelling in a multivariable logistic regression. Remaining significant (p≤0.10) covariates in the univariate regression were selected in the model using a stepwise selection process with p≤0.15 entry and p≤0.05 stay criteria. From the final model, estimated odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) are presented.Results:In the double-blind phase of ORAL Shift, durable CDAI LDA and remission rates were: 66.2% and 14.7%, respectively, with tofacitinib + MTX (N=266); and 55.3% and 11.0%, respectively, with tofacitinib + placebo (N=264) (Table 1). In the multivariable analysis, five patient covariates significantly predicted durable CDAI LDA (Figure 1; discussed hereafter). Each unit increase in CDAI score at W24 reduced the likelihood of maintaining CDAI LDA by 22.0%. Each unit increase in C-reactive protein (CRP) at W24 increased the likelihood of maintaining CDAI LDA by 4.0%; this may have been due to imbalanced CRP levels at W24 (randomisation) between treatment groups (Figure 1, footnote c). The odds of durable CDAI LDA were 53.0% lower in the US vs Europe and 61.0% lower in the US vs ‘other’ regions. Each unit increase in baseline Health Assessment Questionnaire-Disability Index (HAQ-DI) score reduced the odds of durable CDAI LDA by 34.0%. Patients receiving tofacitinib + MTX had 66.0% greater odds of durable CDAI LDA vs patients receiving tofacitinib + placebo. CDAI at W24 was the only significant predictor of durable CDAI remission in the multivariable analysis: OR (95% CI) 0.32 (0.24, 0.43); p<0.0001.
