Abstract
The potential for para-occupational (or take-home) exposures from contaminated clothing has been recognized for the past 60 years. To better characterize the take-home asbestos exposure pathway, a study was performed to measure the relationship between airborne chrysotile concentrations in the workplace, the contamination of work clothing, and take-home exposures and risks. The study included air sampling during two activities: (1) contamination of work clothing by airborne chrysotile (i.e., loading the clothing), and (2) handling and shaking out of the clothes. The clothes were contaminated at three different target airborne chrysotile concentrations (0-0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter [f/cc], 1-2 f/cc, and 2-4 f/cc; two events each for 31-43 minutes; six events total). Arithmetic mean concentrations for the three target loading levels were 0.01 f/cc, 1.65 f/cc, and 2.84 f/cc (National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety [NIOSH] 7402). Following the loading events, six matched 30-minute clothes-handling and shake-out events were conducted, each including 15 minutes of active handling (15-minute means; 0.014-0.097 f/cc) and 15 additional minutes of no handling (30-minute means; 0.006-0.063 f/cc). Percentages of personal clothes-handling TWAs relative to clothes-loading TWAs were calculated for event pairs to characterize exposure potential during daily versus weekly clothes-handling activity. Airborne concentrations for the clothes handler were 0.2-1.4% (eight-hour TWA or daily ratio) and 0.03-0.27% (40-hour TWA or weekly ratio) of loading TWAs. Cumulative chrysotile doses for clothes handling at airborne concentrations tested were estimated to be consistent with lifetime cumulative chrysotile doses associated with ambient air exposure (range for take-home or ambient doses: 0.00044-0.105 f/cc year).

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The present study follows an experimental work based on the characterization of the biomechanical behavior of the aneurysmal wall and a numerical study where a significant difference in term of volume variation between ruptured and unruptured aneurysm was observed in a specific case. Our study was designed to highlight by means of numeric simulations the correlation between aneurysm sac pulsatility and the risk of rupture through the mechanical properties of the wall. MATERIALS AND METHODS In accordance with previous work suggesting a correlation between the risk of rupture and the material properties of cerebral aneurysms, 12 fluid-structure interaction computations were performed on 12 "patient-specific" cases, corresponding to typical shapes and locations of cerebral aneurysms. The variations of the aneurysmal volume during the cardiac cycle (ΔV) are compared by using wall material characteristics of either degraded or nondegraded tissues. RESULTS Aneurysms were located on 6 different arteries: middle cerebral artery (4), anterior cerebral artery (3), internal carotid artery (1), vertebral artery (1), ophthalmic artery (1), and basilar artery (1). Aneurysms presented different shapes (uniform or multilobulated) and diastolic volumes (from 18 to 392 mm3). The pulsatility (ΔV/V) was significantly larger for a soft aneurysmal material (average of 26%) than for a stiff material (average of 4%). The difference between ΔV, for each condition, was statistically significant: P=.005. CONCLUSIONS The difference in aneurysmal pulsatility as highlighted in this work might be a relevant patient-specific predictor of aneurysm risk of rupture.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies in women. Genome-wide association studies have identified FGFR2 as a breast cancer susceptibility gene. Common variation in other fibroblast growth factor (FGF) receptors might also modify risk. We tested this hypothesis by studying genotyped single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and imputed SNPs in FGFR1, FGFR3, FGFR4 and FGFRL1 in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium. METHODS Data were combined from 49 studies, including 53 835 cases and 50 156 controls, of which 89 050 (46 450 cases and 42 600 controls) were of European ancestry, 12 893 (6269 cases and 6624 controls) of Asian and 2048 (1116 cases and 932 controls) of African ancestry. Associations with risk of breast cancer, overall and by disease sub-type, were assessed using unconditional logistic regression. RESULTS Little evidence of association with breast cancer risk was observed for SNPs in the FGF receptor genes. The strongest evidence in European women was for rs743682 in FGFR3; the estimated per-allele odds ratio was 1.05 (95% confidence interval=1.02-1.09, P=0.0020), which is substantially lower than that observed for SNPs in FGFR2. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that common variants in the other FGF receptors are not associated with risk of breast cancer to the degree observed for FGFR2.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The introduction of the endoscope in transsphenoidal surgery has allowed access to lesions located in complex regions of the skull base under direct visual control. With the application of this technique, our group started treating pituitary tumours and from 2009 onwards began treating skull base lesions through extended endoscopic endonasal approaches. The AIM OF THE PRESENT STUDY is to report our experience with extended endoscopic approaches. Indications, results, limitations and complications of this new technique are also discussed. MATERIAL AND METHODS From January 2007 to January 2012, the endonasal approach was used in 40 patients with different cancerous lesions. RESULTS Total tumour removal, as assessed by postoperative magnetic resonance imaging, occurred in 30/ 40 patients (75%), but in 10 patients only partial removal was possible. Major complications, including cerebrospinal fluid leak, were observed in 5/40 patients (8%). One patient died 3 months after surgery due to a severe systemic sepsis. CONCLUSION The extended endoscopic endonasal approach could be used as a minimally invasive and innovative technique for the removal of selected skull base lesions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is little information on the individual risk of screen-detected cancer in women over successive participations. This study aimed to estimate the 10-year cumulative breast cancer detection risk (ductal carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma) in a population-based breast cancer screening program according to distinct protocol strategies. A further aim was to determine which strategies maximized the cancer detection risk and how this risk was affected by the radiologic protocol variables. METHODS Data were drawn from a retrospective cohort of women from nine population-based screening programs in Spain from 1990 to 2006. We used logistic regression with discrete intervals to estimate the cumulative detection risk at 10 years of follow-up according to radiologic variables and protocol strategies. RESULTS In women starting screening at the age of 45-59 years, the cumulative risk of screen-detected cancer at 10 years ranged from 11.11 to 16.71 per 1,000 participants according to the protocol strategy. The cumulative detection risk for overall cancer and invasive cancer was the highest with strategies using digital mammography, double reading, and two projections (16.71 and 12.07 ‰, respectively). For ductal carcinoma in situ, cumulative detection risk was the highest with strategies using screen-film, double reading, and two projections (2.32 ‰). The risk was the lowest with strategies using screen-film mammography, single reading, and two projections. CONCLUSIONS This study found that at least eleven cancers are detected per 1,000 women screened in the first 10 years of follow-up. Enhanced knowledge of the variability in cumulative risk of screen-detected cancer could improve protocol strategies.

Abstract
Here, we report a subtilase gene (SBT1.1) specifically expressed in the endosperm of Medicago truncatula and Pisum sativum seeds during development, which is located at a chromosomal position coinciding with a seed weight quantitative trait locus (QTL). Association studies between SBT1.1 polymorphisms and seed weights in ecotype collections provided further evidence for linkage disequilibrium between the SBT1.1 locus and a seed weight locus. To investigate the possible contribution of SBT1.1 to the control of seed weight, a search for TILLING (Targeting Induced Local Lesions in Genomes) mutants was performed. An inspection of seed phenotype revealed a decreased weight and area of the sbt1.1 mutant seeds, thus inferring a role of SBT1.1 in the control of seed size in the forage and grain legume species. Microscopic analyses of the embryo, representing the major part of the seed, revealed a reduced number of cells in the MtP330S mutant, but no significant variation in cell size. SBT1.1 is therefore most likely to be involved in the control of cotyledon cell number, rather than cell expansion, during seed development. This raises the hypothesis of a role of SBT1.1 in the regulation of seed size by providing molecules that can act as signals to control cell division within the embryo.

Abstract
PURPOSE Cell migration plays an essential role in development, wound healing, and tissue regeneration. Plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF-Endoret) technology offers a potential source of growth factors involved in tissue regeneration. Here, we evaluate the potential of PRGF-Endoret over tendon cells and synovial fibroblasts migration and study whether the combination of this autologous technology with hyaluronic acid (HA) improves the effect and potential of the biomaterials over the motility of both types of fibroblasts. METHODS Migration of primary tendon cells and synovial fibroblasts after culturing with either PRGF or PPGF (plasma poor in growth factors) at different doses was evaluated. Furthermore, the migratory capacity induced by the combination of PPGF and PRGF with HA was tested. RESULTS PPGF stimulated migration of both types of cells but this effect was significantly higher when PRGF was used. Tendon cells showed an increase of 212% in migratory ability when HA was combined with PPGF and of 335% in the case of HA + PRGF treatment compared with HA alone. CONCLUSIONS PRGF-Endoret stimulates migration of tendon cells and synovial fibroblasts and improves the biological properties of HA.
