Abstract
AIMS We aimed to investigate the association between residential greenness and MetS in older Chinese adults. METHODS Longitudinal data on sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle were collected from the Shenzhen Healthy Ageing Research (SHARE) cohort. Greenness exposure was assessed through satellite-derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values in the 250-m, 500-m, and 1250-m radius around the residential address for each participant. MetS was defined by standard guidelines for the Chinese population. RESULTS A total of 49,893 older Chinese adults with a mean age of 70.96 (SD = 5.26) years were included in the study. In the fully adjusted models, participants who lived in the highest quartile of NDVI250-m, NDVI500-m, and NDVI1250-m had a 15% (odds ratio, OR = 0.85, 95% confidence interval, CI: 0.80-0.90), 12% (OR = 0.88, 95% CI: 0.83-0.93), and 11% (OR = 0.89, 95% CI: 0.85-0.95) lower incidence of MetS, respectively, than those living in the lowest quartile (all p-trend < 0.01). Interactions and subgroup analyses showed that age, sex, smoking status, and drinking status were significant effect modifiers (p-interaction for all NDVI < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Residential greenness is associated with a lower risk of MetS in Chinese older adults, especially for young older adults, females, non-smokers, and non-drinkers.

Grading for suction loss in small incision lenticule extraction. Int Ophthalmol 2023; 43:665-675. [PMID: 36044110 DOI: 10.1007/s10792-022-02456-6] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/26/2022] [Accepted: 07/31/2022] [Indexed: 10/14/2022]
Abstract
INTRODUCTION To observe the characteristics of suction loss in small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) and analyze the factors affecting the stability of the suction ring, classify and grade suction loss, and determine the principles for its prevention and control. METHODS This study enrolled patients who underwent SMILE between June 2014 and June 2017. The relationship between the stability of the suction ring and suction loss was ascertained using surgical records and video recordings. The suction loss was classified and graded according to its characteristics and relationship with eye or head movement. The effect of target intervention on suction loss was observed. RESULTS Suction loss can be divided into sudden and progressive types. According to the severity, the latter was divided into three grades (grade 1A or 1B, 2 and 3). Of the 1200 eyes (608 patients), two (0.17%) had sudden suction loss, and 132 (11%) had progressive suction loss. The superior part, inferior part, and other parts accounted for 63.4%, 19.3%, and 17.3% of progressive suction loss, respectively. The proportion of grades 1A, 1B, 2, and 3 suction loss was 53%, 34%, 12%, and 1%, respectively. The location of the threatened suction loss was opposite to the direction of the patient's head movement. After the intraoperative intervention, grades 1 and 2 did not develop into "actual" suction loss. CONCLUSIONS Progressive suction loss was the most frequently observed suction loss during SMILE procedure. Grading suction loss can elucidate its underlying mechanism, which can guide targeted intervention measures to effectively control and reduce suction loss-induced damage, and further improve the safety and efficacy of SMILE.

BACH1-induced ferroptosis drives lymphatic metastasis by repressing the biosynthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids. Cell Death Dis 2023; 14:48. Abstract
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the fatal malignancies worldwide. It has an increased propensity to metastasize via lymphogenous routes in an early stage. The prognosis of patients with lymph node metastases (LNM) is often worse than that of patients without metastases. Although several factors have been found to influence metastasis, the mechanisms of preference for specific metastatic routes remain poorly understood. Herein, we provide evidence that the intrinsic hypersensitivity of tumor cells to ferroptosis may proactively drive lymphatic metastasis. Serum autoantibodies associated with LNM of early ESCC were screened using a whole-proteome protein array containing 19 394 human recombinant proteins, and an anti-BACH1 autoantibody was first identified. Pan-cancer analysis of ferroptosis-related genes with preferential lymphatic metastasis and preferential hematogenous metastasis based on The Cancer Genome Atlas data was performed. Only BACH1 showed significant overexpression in tumors with preferential lymphatic metastasis, whereas it was downregulated in most tumors with preferential nonlymphatic metastasis. In addition, it was found that the serum levels of autoantibodies against BACH1 were elevated in early-stage patients with LNM. Interestingly, BACH1 overexpression and ferroptosis induction promoted LNM but inhibited hematogenous metastasis in mouse models. Transcriptomic and lipidomic analyses found that BACH1 repressed SCD1-mediated biosynthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids, especially oleic acid (OA). OA significantly attenuated the ferroptotic phenotypes and reversed the metastatic properties of BACH1-overexpressing cells. OA addition significantly rescued the ferroptotic phenotypes and reversed the metastatic properties of BACH1-overexpressing cells. Importantly, the concentration gradient of OA between primary lesions and the lymph resulted in the chemoattraction of tumor cells to promote invasion, thus facilitating lymphatic metastasis. BACH1-induced ferroptosis drives lymphatic metastasis via the BACH1-SCD1-OA axis. More importantly, this study confirms that ferroptosis is a double-edged sword in tumorigenesis and tumor progression. The clinical application of ferroptosis-associated agents requires a great caution.

Fitness Cost of the Field-Evolved Resistance to Sulfoxaflor and Multi-Insecticide Resistance of the Wheat Aphid Sitobion miscanthi (Takahashi). INSECTS 2023; 14:75. [PMID: 36662003 PMCID: PMC9867125 DOI: 10.3390/insects14010075] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Figures] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/08/2022] [Revised: 01/03/2023] [Accepted: 01/08/2023] [Indexed: 06/17/2023]
Abstract
Sulfoxaflor belongs to a new class of insecticides that is effective against many sap-feeding pests. In this study on Sitobion miscanthi (Takahashi) (i.e., the predominant wheat pest), a highly sulfoxaflor-resistant (SulR) population was obtained from a field. Its resistance to the other seven insecticides and its biological fitness were analyzed using a leaf-dip method and a two-sex life table approach, respectively. Compared with the relatively susceptible (SS) population, the SulR population was highly resistant to sulfoxaflor, with a relative insecticide resistance ratio (RR) of 199.8 and was moderately resistant to beta-cypermethrin (RR = 14.5) and bifenthrin (RR = 42.1) but exhibited low resistance to chlorpyrifos (RR = 5.7). Additionally, the SulR population had a relative fitness of 0.73, with a significantly prolonged developmental period as well as a lower survival rate and poorer reproductive performance than the SS population. In conclusion, our results suggest that S. miscanthi populations that are highly resistant to sulfoxaflor exist in the field. The possibility that insects may develop multi-resistance between sulfoxaflor and pyrethroids is a concern. Furthermore, the high sulfoxaflor resistance of S. miscanthi was accompanied by a considerable fitness cost. The study data may be useful for improving the rational use of insecticides and for exploring novel insecticide resistance mechanisms.

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Evaluation of the Spatial Relationship between Brain Arteriovenous Malformations and the Corticospinal Tract to Predict Postsurgical Motor Defects. AJNR Am J Neuroradiol 2023; 44:17-25. [PMID: 36549849 PMCID: PMC9835926 DOI: 10.3174/ajnr.a7735] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [MESH Headings] [Grants] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/18/2022] [Accepted: 11/07/2022] [Indexed: 12/24/2022]
Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Preoperative evaluation of brain AVMs is crucial for the selection of surgical candidates. Our goal was to use artificial intelligence to predict postsurgical motor defects in patients with brain AVMs involving motor-related areas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty-three patients who underwent microsurgical resection of brain AVMs involving motor-related areas were retrospectively reviewed. Four artificial intelligence-based indicators were calculated with artificial intelligence on TOF-MRA and DTI, including FN5mm/50mm (the proportion of fiber numbers within 5-50mm from the lesion border), FN10mm/50mm (the same but within 10-50mm), FP5mm/50mm (the proportion of fiber voxel points within 5-50mm from the lesion border), and FP10mm/50mm (the same but within 10-50mm). The association between the variables and long-term postsurgical motor defects was analyzed using univariate and multivariate analyses. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression with the Pearson correlation coefficient was used to select the optimal features to develop the machine learning model to predict postsurgical motor defects. The area under the curve was calculated to evaluate the predictive performance. RESULTS In patients with and without postsurgical motor defects, the mean FN5mm/50mm, FN10mm/50mm, FP5mm/50mm, and FP10mm/50mm were 0.24 (SD, 0.24) and 0.03 (SD, 0.06), 0.37 (SD, 0.27) and 0.06 (SD, 0.08), 0.06 (SD, 0.10) and 0.01 (SD, 0.02), and 0.10 (SD, 0.12) and 0.02 (SD, 0.05), respectively. Univariate and multivariate logistic analyses identified FN10mm/50mm as an independent risk factor for long-term postsurgical motor defects (P = .002). FN10mm/50mm achieved a mean area under the curve of 0.86 (SD, 0.08). The mean area under the curve of the machine learning model consisting of FN10mm/50mm, diffuseness, and the Spetzler-Martin score was 0.88 (SD, 0.07). CONCLUSIONS The artificial intelligence-based indicator, FN10mm/50mm, can reflect the lesion-fiber spatial relationship and act as a dominant predictor for postsurgical motor defects in patients with brain AVMs involving motor-related areas.

Collision-System and Beam-Energy Dependence of Anisotropic Flow Fluctuations. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 129:252301. Abstract
Elliptic flow measurements from two-, four-, and six-particle correlations are used to investigate flow fluctuations in collisions of U+U at sqrt[s_{NN}]=193 GeV, Cu+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV and Au+Au spanning the range sqrt[s_{NN}]=11.5-200 GeV. The measurements show a strong dependence of the flow fluctuations on collision centrality, a modest dependence on system size, and very little if any, dependence on particle species and beam energy. The results, when compared to similar LHC measurements, viscous hydrodynamic calculations, and trento model eccentricities, indicate that initial-state-driven fluctuations predominate the flow fluctuations generated in the collisions studied.

Observation of a Strongly Isospin-Mixed Doublet in ^{26}Si via β-Delayed Two-Proton Decay of ^{26}P. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 129:242502. Abstract
β decay of proton-rich nuclei plays an important role in exploring isospin mixing. The β decay of ^{26}P at the proton drip line is studied using double-sided silicon strip detectors operating in conjunction with high-purity germanium detectors. The T=2 isobaric analog state (IAS) at 13 055 keV and two new high-lying states at 13 380 and 11 912 keV in ^{26}Si are unambiguously identified through β-delayed two-proton emission (β2p). Angular correlations of two protons emitted from ^{26}Si excited states populated by ^{26}P β decay are measured, which suggests that the two protons are emitted mainly sequentially. We report the first observation of a strongly isospin-mixed doublet that deexcites mainly via two-proton decay. The isospin mixing matrix element between the ^{26}Si IAS and the nearby 13 380-keV state is determined to be 130(21) keV, and this result represents the strongest mixing, highest excitation energy, and largest level spacing of a doublet ever observed in β-decay experiments.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the detection rate, epidemic pattern of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in hospitalized children with acute lower respiratory tract infection (ALRTI) in China. Methods: From June 2017 to March 2020, a prospective multi-center study on the viral aetiology among hospitalized children with ALRTI was conducted in six pediatrics hospital of North China, Northeast, Northwest, South China, Southeast, and Southwest China. A total of 2 839 hospitalized children with ALRTI were enrolled, and the respiratory specimens were collected from these cases. A multiplex real-time RT-PCR assay were employed to screen the respiratory viruses, and the molecular epidemiological and clinical characteristics of children infected with RSV were analyzed. Results: The positve rate of RSV was 18.6% (528/2 839), and the positive rate of RSV in different regions ranged from 5.5% to 44.3%. The positive rate of RSV in male was higher than that in female (20.2% vs 16.3%), and there was a significant statistically difference between two groups (χ2=6.74, P=0.009). The positive rate of RSV among children under 5 years old was higher than that among children older than 5 years old (22.3% vs 4.5%), and there was a significant statistically difference between two groups (χ2=97.98,P<0.001). The positive rate of RSV among the <6 months age group was higher than that of other age groups (all P<0.05). During January 2018 and December 2019, RSV was detected in almost all through the year, and showed peaks in winter and spring. RSV-positive cases accounted for 17.0% (46/270) among children with severe pneumonia, including 36 cases infected with RSV alone. Conclusion: RSV is an important viral pathogen in children under 5 years old with ALRTI in China. The virus can be detected almost all through the year and reached the peak in winter and spring. RSV could lead to severe pneumonia in children and caused huge threaten to children's health.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous studies on residential green space were inconsistent with blood lipid levels and hyperlipidemia. Thus, our study aims to explore the relationship between urban residential greenness and the blood lipid level and hyperlipidemia of the Chinese elderly population. METHODS A total of 59,865 older adults were collected from the Shenzhen healthy aging Research (SHARE). Blood lipid levels [total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)] were measured. Participants' exposure to residential greenness was measured by the satellite-based normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) and logistic regression were performed to assess the associations of residential greenness with lipid levels and dyslipidemia (high TG, high TC, low HDL-C, and high LDL-C). RESULTS Each per 1 standard deviation (SD) increase in NDVI250-m was associated with a higher HDL-C level (β = 0.003, 95% (confidence interval, CI):0.001-0.005) and lower TG level (β = - 0.005, 95% CI - 0.141-0.121), after fully adjusting for covariates. Each increment in per interquartile range (IQR)-unit increase in NDVI250-m was associated with lower odds of high TG (odds ratio, OR 0.94, 95% CI 0.91-0.97) and low HDL-C (OR 0.96, 95% CI 0.94-0.99). The NDVI250-m has the highest protective effect on the incidence of high TG and low HDL-C, followed by NDVI500-m and NDVI1250-m. Stratified analyses showed that association between residential greenness and hyperlipidemia was modified by sex, age, BMI, household registration, and physical activity. CONCLUSION Higher greenness exposure was beneficially associated with lipid levels and dyslipidemia among Chinese city-dwelling older adults.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effect of growth arrest-specific5 (GAS5) inhibition on the proliferation, colony formation, invasion, migration andepithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT), cancer cell stem of HCT-116 and its mechanism. Methods: The colorectal carcinoma (CRC) cell HCT116 was divided into blank control, negative control (NC), si-GAS5 and si-GAS5+ miR-21 inhibitor groups. The quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to test the expressions of miR-21 and GAS5 at 48 h after transfection. The binding site of GAS5 and miR-21 was determined by luciferase reporter array. Cell proliferation ability was detected by CCK-8 assay. Cell colony ability was detected by colony formation assay. Cell invasion and migration abilities were detected by Transwell assay. Cell cycle and apoptosis were examined by flow cytometer (FCM). The protein levels of EMT associated factors including Snail, N-cadherin, vimentin, E-cadherin, stem cell related factors including CD44, SOX2, Oct2, and PTEN/Akt signal pathway associated factors were examined by western blotting. Results: The expression levels of miR-21 in blank, NC, si-GAS5 group were 1.00±0.10, 1.00±0.10, 1.80±0.20, the absorbance values were 0.51±0.02, 0.50±0.01 and 0.65±0.01, the cell clones were 90±4, 91±5, 200±8, the invaded cells were 118±3, 119±3, 150±4, the migrated cells were 110±2, 108±2, 127±2, the cell ratios in G(1) phase were (49.3±2.1)%, (50.1±2.0)% and (42.2±1.1)%, the cell ratios in S phase were (19.2±1.2)%, (20.2±1.1)% and (28.3±2.2)%, the cell apoptotic ratios were (14.4±2.2)%, (14.5±2.1)% and (7.2±1.3)%. These results indicated that inhibition of GAS5 up regulated the expression level of miR-21, promoted cell proliferation, invasion and migration, decreased G(1)-phase cells and increased S-phase cells, and suppressed cell apoptosis (P<0.05). Moreover, inhibition of GAS5 up regulated the expressions of Snail, N-cadherin, vimentin, Sox2, CD44, Oct2 and p-Akt in HCT-116 cells (P<0.05), while down regulated the expressions of E-cadherin and PTEN (P<0.05). Inhibition of miR-21 reversed the impact of GAS5 knockdown on PTEN/Akt signaling pathway (P<0.05). Conclusion: GAS5 can act as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-21, and down regulation of GAS5 can promote the development of CRC by activating the miR-21/PTEN/Akt signaling pathway and promoting the acquisition of EMT and tumor cell stemness.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction/Objective
Carcinosarcoma is a malignant biphasic tumor composed of carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements. Carcinosarcoma of the fallopian tube is an extremely rare malignancy with fewer than 100 cases reported in the literature. We report a rare case of carcinosarcoma arising from the right fallopian tube.
Methods/Case Report
A 72-year-old female presented with worsening vaginal discharge and abdominal cramps.
Abdominal computed tomography detected a right adnexal mass. A torsed fallopian tube with a large mass was identified intraoperatively. Grossly, a 3.1 cm tan friable mass was seen protruding from the right fallopian tube lumen with numerous detached tumor fragments (9.4 cm in aggregate). Microscopically, the tumor was biphasic with a major mesenchymal component and minor epithelial component. A solid pattern of spindled and epithelioid cells with heterologous element of chondrosarcoma and a separate component with features of high-grade serous carcinoma in cribriform and solid sheets with slit-like spaces were seen. Both components showed marked nuclear atypia, pleomorphism, prominent nucleoli, and frequent mitoses. Both components were positive for p53, PAX-8, and beta- catenin immunohistochemistry, with a Ki-67 index of 80-90%. The sarcoma component was positive for p16, vimentin, and smooth muscle actin; the carcinoma component was positive for WT1, pan-cytokeratin, and cytokeratin 7. Pelvic washings were negative for malignancy. Metastases were not identified. Chemotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin was initiated with no recurrence identified 17 months after treatment.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction/Objective
Renal collision tumors are rare lesions defined as the coexistence of two adjacent but histologically distinct tumors with sharp borders forming a single lesion. A combination of chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (ChRCC) and papillary renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is extremely rare. Here we report a collision tumor of hyperpigmented microcystic ChRCC, an uncommon variant of ChRCC, and papillary RCC. To our knowledge, it is the first reported case of this particular combination.
Methods/Case Report
A 70-year-old male with aortic stenosis presented with dyspnea and renal insufficiency. A renal mass was discovered incidentally. MRI characterized the left renal mass as 7.2 cm and bilobed. Radical nephrectomy was performed. Grossly, the tumor was located in the upper pole and consisted of two distinct components separated by fibrous tissue: a 5.4 cm black/orange mottled tumor and an adjacent 5.0 cm yellow lobulated tumor. Histologically, the larger tumor displayed a microcystic and solid pattern comprised of large cells with pale cytoplasm, hyperchromatic wrinkled nuclei, perinuclear halos, prominent cell membranes, and extensive intracellular and extracellular brown-black pigment, consistent with hyperpigmented microcystic ChRCC. The adjacent tumor showed diagnostic features of papillary RCC including papillae with fibrovascular cores lined by columnar cells with low nuclear grade, abundant macrophages, and foci of psammomatous calcifications. The hyperpigmented microcystic ChRCC was positive for CD117 and negative for Melan-A. Papillary RCC was strongly positive for Cytokeratin7 and Vimentin.

Insights into the mechanism underlying remediation of Cr(VI) contaminated aquifer using nanoscale zero-valent iron@reduced graphene oxide. ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH 2022; 214:113973. Abstract
Currently, there is an urgent need to develop functional nanomaterials for highly effective environmental remediation. However, the long-term effect of remedial materials upon their injection into contaminated aquifer has frequently been overlooked. Here, the remediation of Cr(VI) contaminated aquifer by reduced graphene oxide (rGO) supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI@rGO) was investigated from a long-term perspective. The performances of nZVI@rGO samples with different rGO loadings in the removal of aqueous Cr(VI) were evaluated in batch experiments. The electron transfer properties different nZVI@rGO samples were investigated by measuring their corrosive potentials using the steady-state Tafel polarization curves. The results show that the electron transfer efficiency between Cr(VI) and nZVI@rGO is enhanced owing to the large reactive conjugated structure of rGO. Besides, the surface passivation of nZVI is effectively retarded due to the uniform accommodation of Cr(III) precipitates on rGO. The structure and composition of nZVI@rGO before and after Cr(VI) removal were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The characterization results revealed that most Cr(VI) ions (∼90%) will be reduced to Cr(III) precipitates on nZVI@rGO as the passivation product. Accordingly, Cr(VI) ions tend to react more readily at less blocked regions on the surface of rGO, and a layer-by-layer passivation model on nZVI@rGO surface is proposed. Our results provide new insights into the mechanism underlying the long-term remediation of Cr(VI) contaminated aquifer using nZVI@rGO, which helps design new materials and approaches for practical in-situ remediation engineering.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Adrenergic receptors belong to the G protein-coupled receptor family and are one of the important targets of modern drug therapy. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a highly selective agonist of alpha2 receptor, a member of the adrenergic receptor family, which are widely found in immune tissues and which mediate the biological behaviour of the inflammatory immune system. This review mainly summarizes the role of DEX in immune tissue and inflammation-related diseases, to provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS We searched the PUBMED, EMBASE, and Cochrane libraries separately to obtain published literature on DEX related to immune tissue and inflammatory diseases. The mesh (dexmedetomidine replaces DEX, microglia, astrocytes, spleen, marrow, lymph nodes) and their corresponding keywords used for the searches, and no time limit for retrieval. The latest search was conducted on July 1, 2022. RESULTS By reading a lot of relevant literature, we found that DEX reduces the inflammatory response of brain tissue by interfering with microglia and astrocytes. DEX can regulate the expression of CD40 and CD86 markers on the surface of splenocytes and reduce the secretion of inflammatory cytokines by splenocytes. In addition, we found that DEX reduced inflammation-related diseases such as neuroinflammation, myocarditis, liver cirrhosis, osteoarthritis, upper respiratory tract infection, pancreatitis, spinal tuberculosis, pulpitis, colon inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis, and improved prognosis. CONCLUSIONS DEX has anti-inflammatory and improved prognosis in many inflammatory related diseases and is expected to become a targeted drug for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.

ECERIFERUM1-6A is required for the synthesis of cuticular wax alkanes and promotes drought tolerance in wheat. PLANT PHYSIOLOGY 2022; 190:1640-1657. Abstract
Cuticular waxes cover the aerial surfaces of land plants and protect them from various environmental stresses. Alkanes are major wax components and contribute to plant drought tolerance, but the biosynthesis and regulation of alkanes remain largely unknown in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Here, we identified and functionally characterized a key alkane biosynthesis gene ECERIFERUM1-6A (TaCER1-6A) from wheat. The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9)-mediated knockout mutation in TaCER1-6A greatly reduced the contents of C27, C29, C31, and C33 alkanes in wheat leaves, while TaCER1-6A overexpression significantly increased the contents of these alkanes in wheat leaves, suggesting that TaCER1-6A is specifically involved in the biosynthesis of C27, C29, C31, and C33 alkanes on wheat leaf surfaces. TaCER1-6A knockout lines exhibited increased cuticle permeability and reduced drought tolerance, whereas TaCER1-6A overexpression lines displayed reduced cuticle permeability and enhanced drought tolerance. TaCER1-6A was highly expressed in flag leaf blades and seedling leaf blades and could respond to abiotic stresses and abscisic acid. TaCER1-6A was located in the endoplasmic reticulum, which is the subcellular compartment responsible for wax biosynthesis. A total of three haplotypes (HapI/II/III) of TaCER1-6A were identified in 43 wheat accessions, and HapI was the dominant haplotype (95%) in these wheat varieties. Additionally, we identified two R2R3-MYB transcription factors TaMYB96-2D and TaMYB96-5D that bound directly to the conserved motif CAACCA in promoters of the cuticular wax biosynthesis genes TaCER1-6A, TaCER1-1A, and fatty acyl-CoA reductase4. Collectively, these results suggest that TaCER1-6A is required for C27, C29, C31, and C33 alkanes biosynthesis and improves drought tolerance in wheat.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
New cases of HIV infection are increasing among adolescents and young adults (AYA) in Kazakhstan, and now account for over 23% of all HIV infections. Testing is key to reducing new infections, yet HIV-related stigma is a major barrier. Crowdsourcing contests could engage AYA in the development of interventions and increase the likelihood that an effective approach will be developed to reduce stigma and increase HIV testing among Kazakhstan AYA.
Objective
To determine the response to a crowdsourcing approach to collect media content for the development of an intervention focused on HIV testing stigma reduction among AYA in Kazakhstan.
Methods
To organize the crowdsourcing contest we organized a community steering committee; developed platforms to solicit crowd input; engaged AYA to contribute ideas through social media and in-person events. We present data on social media use and contributions.
Results
The contest website was visited by 2,893 people, and 76 AYA submitted 91 works for the contest from all over Kazakhstan. Most AYA (60%) visited the website of the contest via social media. Types of submitted content for the contest included video: 31 (34.0%), pictures: 29 (31.8%), text: 24 (26.3%), and other types of content including a chatbot, online game, and website: 7 (7.6%). Fifty (65.7%) participants were between 13-19 years, and 26 (34.2%) were between 20-29 years. Thirteen (17.1%) submissions were in Kazakh, and the rest in Russian 63 (82,9%). A number of submissions required further guidance due to a lack of understanding about stigma, accurate facts, and copyright issues.
Conclusions
AYA engaged in a crowdsourcing contest and used multiple modalities/types of content, from younger and older AYA, in both Kazakh and Russian, and representation from most regions of the country. Providing clearer guidance about facts and stigma may be helpful prior to submission.
Key messages
• Crowdsourcing approach has a potential to engage adolescent and young adult into development of various types of media content focused on public health issues, such as HIV testing stigma reduction.
• Adolescents and young adults may need additional information and guidance regarding complex concept of stigma around HIV testing.

Abstract
1. This study aimed to study the preventive and therapeutic effects of andrographolide (Andro) during Mycoplasma gallisepticum HS strain (MG) infection in ArborAcres (AA) broilers.2. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Andro against MG was measured. Broiler body weight, feed efficiency, morbidity, cure rate and mortality were recorded during the experiment. Air sac lesion scores and immune organ index were calculated. Expression of pMGA1.2 in lung tissue and serum biochemical indices were examined. Histopathological examinations of immune organs, liver, trachea and lung tissue were conducted by Haematoxylin and Eosin stain.3. MIC was 3.75 μg/mL and Andro significantly inhibited the expression of pMGA1.2 (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro low-dose and high-dose prevention reduced the morbidity of chronic respiratory disease in 40.00% and 50.00%, respectively. Mortality of C, D and E group was 16.67%, 10.00% and 6.67%, respectively. Cure rate of E, F, G and H group was 92.00%, 92.86%, 93.33% and 100.0%, respectively. Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro treatment significantly increased average weight gain (AWG), relative weight gain rate (RWG) and feed conversion rate (FCR) at 18 to 24 days (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with control group, Andro alone treatment significantly increased AWG in broilers (P ≤ 0.05).4. Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro significantly attenuated MG-induced air sac lesion, immune organs, liver, trachea and lung damage in broilers. Andro alone treatment did not induce abnormal morphological changes in these organs in healthy broilers. Serum biochemical analysis results showed, comparing with control MG-infected group, Andro significantly decreased the content of total protein, albumin, globulin, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, urea, creatinine, uric acid, total cholesterol, and increased the albumin/globulin ratio and content of alkaline phosphatase, apolipoprotein B and apolipoprotein A-I in a dose-dependent manner (P ≤ 0.05).5. Andro could act as a potential agent against MG infection in broilers.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free method for the construction of 3-substituted or 3,4-disubstituted quinolines from readily available N,N-dimethyl enaminones and o-aminobenzyl alcohols is reported. The direct oxidative cyclocondensation reaction tolerates broad functional groups, allowing the efficient synthesis of various quinolines in moderate to excellent yields. The reaction involves a C (sp3)-O bond cleavage and a C=N bind and a C=C bond formation during the oxidative cyclization process, and the mechanism was proposed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the influence of nutritional status on 90-day functional outcomes of stroke patients with acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation after endovascular treatment (EVT). METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the baseline, laboratory, surgical and 90-day follow-up data of patients with stroke resulting from acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation, who underwent emergency endovascular treatment in our hospital from July, 2015 to December, 2020. A favorable outcome was defined as a modified Rankin scale score ≤2 at 90 days. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to explore the relationship between nutritional status and 90-day functional outcomes of the patients. RESULTS A total of 459 patients (mean age of 68.29±11.21 years, including 260 males) were enrolled in this study. According to their prognostic nutritional index (PNI), the patients were divided into normal nutrition group (392 cases, 85.4%), moderate malnutrition group (44 cases, 9.6%), and severe malnutrition group (23 cases, 5.0%). Univariate analysis showed that the patients with good clinical outcomes had a lower proportion of malnutrition with a younger age, a lower rate of diabetes, lower baseline blood pressure, lower baseline NIHSS score, higher baseline ASPECT score, and higher rates of good collateral circulation and complete vascular recanalization. Multivariate analysis showed that in addition to age, diabetes, baseline systolic blood pressure, successful recanalization, baseline ASPECT score, baseline NIHSS score and collateral circulation, a greater PNI was a protective factor for a good 90-day outcome of patients after EVT (moderate vs severe: OR=0.245, 95% CI: 0.066-0.908, P=0.035; normal vs severe: OR=0.185, 95% CI: 0.059-0.581, P=0.004). CONCLUSION Nutritional status an important factor affecting the 90-day outcomes after EVT of stroke patients with acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation.

Abstract
Infiltration by adipose tissue macrophages (ATMs) and subsequent metabolic inflammation are the key causes of obesity-induced insulin resistance and metabolic disorders. In this study, we analyzed the potential protective effect of tangeretin, a key flavonoid found extensively in citrus peels, against diet-induced metabolic inflammation. Daily gavages of tangeretin at 20 mg/kg protected the mice from high fat diet (HFD) feeding-induced insulin resistance, ATMs activation, and M1 macrophage polarization. Interestingly, in vitro assays using bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) showed that tangeretin had only a minimal effect on macrophage polarization. Assays of central carbon metabolism (CCM) in adipose tissue showed that tangeretin treatment rerouted the carbon metabolism and caused lactate accumulation in the microenvironment. Co-culture assays further suggested that tangeretin enhanced M2 polarization of BMDMs when adipocytes were present, whereas blocking the lactate uptake in macrophages reversed the effect of tangeretin on polarization. Taken together, these findings indicated that tangeretin provided indirect protection from diet-induced ATMs activation by reprogramming glucose metabolism and promoting lactate accumulation that subsequently promoted macrophage M2 polarization and reduced inflammation.

Abstract
Objective: A multicenter Chinese mainland survey was conducted to investigate the sensitization distribution characteristics of cat, dog and horse dander in patients with allergic diseases, so as to provide clinicians with epidemiological data of common animal allergens and useful information for the prevention and treatment of allergies in cats, dogs and horses. Methods: The epidemiological investigation and design was adopted. This study is based on the national epidemiological survey of allergic diseases led by the first affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. From January to December in 2021, a total of 2 122 patients diagnosed with allergic diseases were included in the outpatient department of respiratory department/pediatrics/allergy department of 14 units such as the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, and 222 healthy subjects were included as controls from the physical examination center of the above units in the same period. All the subjects filled out the allergic disease questionnaire under the guidance of doctors, and the allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) of cats, dogs and horses of all subjects were detected by magnetic particle chemiluminescence system. The epidemiological characteristics of three animal allergens in different diseases, ages and regions were analyzed. Chi square test was used to analyze the frequency difference between groups, t test or Mann Whitney U test was used to test the distribution difference between two groups, and one-way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis H test was used to compare the distribution difference between multiple groups. Bar chart, Venn-plot and radar chart were drawn to show the sensitization distribution characteristics. A small number of missing values caused by subjects' omission have been excluded during the analysis. Results: The 2 122 patients with allergic diseases were 57.35% male (1 217/2 122) and 40.95% female (869/2 122), and 1.70% (36/2 122) patients had loss of gender information. The age of patients with allergic diseases was 9.0 (6.0, 28.0) years, while that of healthy controls was 29.0 (13.0, 39.0) years old, and there were 1.7% (36/2 122) and 0.9% (2/222) subjects with missing age information, respectively. The proportion of caesarean section in allergic patients was significantly higher than that in healthy controls (31.4% vs. 17.6%,χ2=16.582,P<0.001) [2.5% (54/2 122) of the patient group and 5.4% (12/222) of the control group had missing birth mode information], and the proportion of patients with allergic diseases who reported that both parents had allergic diseases was significantly higher than that of the control group (35.7% vs. 9.5%, χ2=65.171,P<0.001). Patients with allergic diseases are mainly school-age (6-12 years old) and adolescents (12-18 years old). 16.4% of patients with allergic diseases were sensitized to cat dander, 10% and 6% to dog and horse dander. The sensitization rate of cat dander in patients with rhinitis, asthma, conjunctivitis, food allergy and atopic dermatitis was the highest (16.4%-21.6%), followed by dog dander (10.2%-15.2%). The prevalence of allergic rhinitis was the highest among different animal sensitized populations. The proportion of cat, dog and horse allergens sensitized at the same time is between 10%-15%, and the proportion of any two or more animal dander sensitized at the same time is about 45%. Animal allergens are associated with respiratory allergic diseases, especially allergic rhinitis with allergic conjunctivitis. There were significant differences in the distribution of positive rates of three animal allergens in different regions, and the highest positive rate of cat dander was found in all provinces of the country. Conclusion: The sensitization rate of animal dander allergens increased significantly, and the highest was in children and adolescents. Cat dander is the most common animal allergen, followed by dog. Different animals show obvious cross or common sensitization due to their high homology.

Evidence for Nonlinear Gluon Effects in QCD and Their Mass Number Dependence at STAR. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 129:092501. Abstract
The STAR Collaboration reports measurements of back-to-back azimuthal correlations of di-π^{0}s produced at forward pseudorapidities (2.6<η<4.0) in p+p, p+Al, and p+Au collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV. We observe a clear suppression of the correlated yields of back-to-back π^{0} pairs in p+Al and p+Au collisions compared to the p+p data. The observed suppression of back-to-back pairs as a function of transverse momentum suggests nonlinear gluon dynamics arising at high parton densities. The larger suppression found in p+Au relative to p+Al collisions exhibits a dependence of the saturation scale Q_{s}^{2} on the mass number A. A linear scaling of the suppression with A^{1/3} is observed with a slope of -0.09±0.01.

Abstract
The first study of the angular distribution of μ^{+}μ^{-} pairs produced in the forward rapidity region via the Drell-Yan reaction pp→γ^{*}/Z+X→ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}+X is presented, using data collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb^{-1}. The coefficients of the five leading terms in the angular distribution are determined as a function of the dimuon transverse momentum and rapidity. The results are compared to various theoretical predictions of the Z-boson production mechanism and can also be used to probe transverse-momentum-dependent parton distributions within the proton.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the survival rates and quality of life of human papillomaviruse (HPV)-negative patients with advanced oropharyngeal cancer after different combined treatments with chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients with oropharyngeal cancer hospitalized in our hospital from January, 2015 to December, 2020, and after case analysis of the clinical, imaging and pathological data, 405 patients were included in this study and grouped according to the treatments they received. Kaplan-Meier and Log-rank analysis were used to calculate the overall survival rate and the survival rate of patients with different treatments. The self-rated quality of life of the tumor-free survivors was assessed using UW-QOL (4) questionnaire and compared among the patients with different treatments. RESULTS Among the 405 patients included in this study, 146 received treatments with chemotherapy+surgery+radiotherapy (CSRT), 138 received surgery+radiotherapy (SRT) and 121 were treated with radiotherapy+chemotherapy (RCT). The overall survival rates of the 3 groups at 1, 3 and 5 years were 85.1%, 67.1% and 56.9%, respectively, and the survival rates of patients receiving CSRT, SRT and RCT did not differ significantly (P > 0.05). A total of 280 UW-QOL (4) questionnaires were distributed and 202 (72.14%) were retrieved. The average total scores decreased in the order of CSRT > SRT > RCT; the scores were significantly higher in CSRT group than in SRT and RCT (P < 0.05), but did not differ significantly between SRT and RCT groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION CSRT, SRT and RCT are all treatment options for locally advanced oropharyngeal cancer, but CSRT may achieve better quality of life of the patients than SRT and RCT.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of enteral immunonutrition support therapy on nutritional metabolism, immune function, and inflammatory response in adult burn patients at nutritional risk as assessed by the modified 2nd nutrition risk screening (NRS) 2002. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted. From December 2019 to January 2022, 500 adult patients who were admitted to the Affiliated Huaihai Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University and had nutritional risk assessed by the modified 2nd NRS 2002 were recruited into the study. According to burn severity, the patients were divided into common burn patients (n=450) and severe burn patients (n=50). According to the random number table, the patients with common burn were divided into common burn diet nutrition group and common burn diet enteral immunonutrition group, with 225 patients in each group, and the patients with severe burn were divided into severe burn diet enteral non-immunonutrition group and severe burn diet enteral immunonutrition group, with 25 patients in each group. The patients in each group were given the corresponding nutritional support therapies on the basis of routine burn treatment. On post injury day (PID) 1, 3, 7, 14, and 21, the total energy intake and total protein intake of the patients in 4 groups were recorded, the plasma prealbumin, albumin, transferrin, serum immunoglobulin A (IgA), IgG, IgM, peripheral blood CD3 positive T cell percentage, CD4 positive T cell count, CD8 positive T cell count, the ratio of CD4 positive T cells to CD8 positive T cells, natural killer cell percentage, plasma interleukin-6 (IL-6), free mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) copy number, and soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) of the patients in 4 groups were detected, and the nitrogen balance of the patients in 4 groups on the day was calculated. On PID 7, 14, and 21, the modified 2nd NRS 2002 scores of the patients in 4 groups were reassessed. The sepsis incidence during treatment and the length of hospital stay of the patients in 4 groups and the length of intensive care unit (ICU) stay of the patients in the 2 severe burn groups were recorded. Data were statistically analyzed with chi-square test, Fisher's exact probability test, Mann-Whitney U test, independent sample t test, analysis of variance for repeated measurement, and Bonferroni correction. Results: A total of 476 patients completed the trial, with 213 patients in common burn diet nutrition group (112 males and 101 females, aged (37±19) years), 218 patients in common burn diet enteral immunonutrition group (115 males and 103 females, aged (42±16) years), 22 patients in severe burn diet enteral non-immunonutrition group (11 males and 11 females, aged (35±8) years), and 23 patients in severe burn diet enteral immunonutrition group (12 males and 11 females, aged (35±8) years). A phase III randomized, controlled trial of nedaplatin versus cisplatin concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with cervical cancer. ESMO Open 2022; 7:100565. [PMID: 35994789 PMCID: PMC9588898 DOI: 10.1016/j.esmoop.2022.100565] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/07/2022] [Revised: 07/15/2022] [Accepted: 07/17/2022] [Indexed: 12/24/2022] Open
Abstract
BACKGROUND We evaluated the non-inferiority of nedaplatin-based and cisplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy in cervical cancer patients. DESIGN Patients aged 28-82 years with pathologically diagnosed cervical cancer (stage IB-IVA) were randomly chosen for the study. Patients in both the cisplatin and nedaplatin groups received radiotherapy and weekly intravenous nedaplatin 30 mg/m2 or cisplatin 40 mg/m2 concurrently. RESULTS One hundred and sixty patients who received treatment between 10 May 2018 and 31 August 2020 were included. The 3-year overall survival in the nedaplatin group (median 30.5 months) was not significantly different from that in the cisplatin group (28.5 months; hazard ratio 0.131, 95% confidence interval 0.016-1.068; P = 0.058). No significant differences in hematological toxicity were observed between the two groups. Vomiting (40 versus 61), nausea (44 versus 67), and anorexia (52 versus 71) were more common in the cisplatin group whereas effects on liver function, including total bilirubin (7 versus 3), alanine aminotransferase (7 versus 2), and aspartate aminotransferase (6 versus 2), were more common in the nedaplatin group. Four patients in the cisplatin group had grade I creatinine elevation, whereas none in the nedaplatin group had abnormal creatinine levels. Two patients in the nedaplatin group discontinued concurrent chemotherapy because of infusion, and one patient in the cisplatin group discontinued treatment because of infusion-induced dizziness. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that nedaplatin has a milder gastrointestinal reaction but a more significant effect on liver function than cisplatin. In patients with cervical cancer, nedaplatin-based concurrent chemoradiotherapy could serve as an alternative treatment to cisplatin.
