Diagnosis of fetal hydronephrosis in utero using ultrasound

Detection of fetal hydronephrosis in utero, subsequent investigation, and surgical treatment is described. With the increasing use of ultrasound for obstetrical problems and greater experience with fetal sonography, more urologic abnormalities will be diagnosed prenatally.

Gray scale ultrasound: evaluation of iliopsoas hematomas in hemophiliacs

Because of its insidious nature, intramuscular bleeding, in contrast to hemarthrosis, is missed or belatedly recognized in hemophiliacs. Sixteen patients with suspected iliopsoas bleeding were studied by gray scale ultrasonography. In 12 patients it was possible to confirm the diagnosis of iliopsoas hematoma because of enlargement and rounding of the psoas muscle.

Hydrops of the gallbladder in a child: diagnosis by ultrasonography

Hydrops of the gallbladder is a rare cause of right upper quadrant mass in children. A case of acute hydrops of the gallbladder in a 5-year-old child is reported. A specific and accurate diagnosis can be made preoperatively only by sonography. Characteristic sonographic findings are described.

Wilms' tumor with bony metastases

A case of Wilms' tumor with extensive bony metastases and involvement of unusual sites such as lacrimal and salivary glands without pulmonary metastases is presented.
