Abstract
To detect hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and water content in dimethyl sulfoxide, the fluorescent probe (Probe 1) was used, as it not only detects H2S but also detects the water content. After H2S was added into Probe 1, the intensity of fluorescence increased and was up to 1300 times. In case the H2S concentration was in the range 0-20 μM, it was able to be detected by Probe 1, and the limit of detection was 0.851 nM. When Probe 1 and H2S underwent a reaction, the solution color had some changes. These colors changed in terms of the concentration changes of H2S, ranging from colorless to yellow. The Probe 1 test paper only needed to be exposed to hydrogen sulfide gas for 20 s for the color change to occur. Besides, Probe 1-H2S was used to detect water content in dimethyl sulfoxide which ranged from 0 to 100%. The color change of the solution was opposite to that of H2S, ranging from yellow to colorless.

Abstract
Endogenous H2S, considered to be involved in many physiological processes, has attracted more attention in fluorescence detection and bioimaging. Therefore, it is necessary to design probes with good biocompatibility and high bioavailability. In this study, a novel fluorescent probe, QN-1, based on azide group and quinoline derivatives was developed for detecting H2S. QN-1 can detect H2S specifically in aqueous phase, which indicated QN-1 has excellent water solubility. Besides, QN-1 shows excellent properties of higher selectivity and 11-fold fluorescence enhancement at 533 nm. Therefore, QN-1 with excellent properties can be used for cell imaging.

Abstract
A novel coumarin-based fluorescent probe (probe 1) for the detection of copper(II) was developed. The fluorescence intensity of probe 1 showed a linear relationship with the concentration of copper(II) in the range 0-16 μM (0-1.02 mg/L) and the limit of detection was 62 nM (3.94 µg/L). The luminescence of probe 1 at the maximum allowable amounts of copper(II) in wine and water could be observed with the naked eye under a 365-nm ultraviolet lamp. Moreover, probe 1 was successfully used for the qualitative and quantitative detection of copper(II) in wine.

Abstract
1,4-Dithiothreitol (DTT) is an important small-molecular reducing agent and has extensive applications in biochemistry, peptide/protein chemistry and clinical medicine. The development of effective methods for monitoring DTT is of great importance for its safe use and studying its toxicity to human. In this work, we present a two-photon red-emissive probe for the imaging of DTT in living cells, tissues and animals. The probe employed a two-photon red-emissive xanthene dye as the fluorophore and selected 2,4-dinitrophenylate as the novel recognition site for DTT. In response to DTT, the probe displayed excellent sensitivity and selectivity. The probe was successfully applied to the two-photon imaging of DTT in living cells, and the imaging of DTT in living tissues and animals.

Abstract
Heteropoly acids were used as catalysts for cyclodehydration of various 1,n-diols. Cyclodehydration of butane-1,4-diol, pentane-1,5-diol and hexane-1,6-diol catalysed by H3PW12O40 gave tetrahydrofuran, tetrahydropyran and oxepane, respectively. Cyclodehydration of diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, diethylene glycol monomethyl ether and polyethylene glycol 200 catalysed by H3PW12O40 gave 1,4-dioxane. In particular, cyclodehydration of hexane-1,6-diol gave an excellent yield of oxepane (80%). The selectivity exhibited by the H3PW12O40 catalyst was even better than that exhibited by other reported catalyst systems for similar cyclodehydration reactions.

Abstract
A new highly selective and visible colorimetric fluorescent probe (probe 1) was developed to detect hydrazine (N2H4) concentration in real water samples. As different concentrations of N2H4 were added, the color of the probe solution was graded gradually from colorless to pink, which could be observed by the naked eye under UV light at 365 nm. Our research indicates that probe 1 offers a certain practical significance for use as a visible detection agent to detect N2H4 efficiently by distinct color response. Furthermore, our work showed that probe 1 can be successfully applied to detect N2H4 concentrations in real water samples.
