Abstract
This study employed computational methods to elucidate the influence of structural features on the cyclization pathways of 1,5-diynes through the 5-endo-dig and 6-endo-dig mechanisms. The results revealed that the nature of the central linker played a significant role in dictating the preferred cyclization pathway. Notably, the capacity of this linker to extend delocalization appears to be the key factor governing the reaction pathway preference.

Abstract
An efficient dual gold-catalyzed regioselective synthesis of benzofulvenes has been developed from substituted allyloxy 1,5-diynes via 5-endo dig cyclization. In this intramolecular organic transformation a new C-C bond formation occurs and moderate to very good yields are obtained in one pot.

Abstract
Gold coordinated to neutral phosphines (R3 P), N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) or anionic ligands is catalytically active in functionalizing various C-H bonds with high selectivity. The sterics/electronic nature of the studied C-H bond, oxidation state of gold and stereoelectronic capacity of the coordinated auxiliary ligand are some of the associated selectivity factors in gold-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization reactions. Hence, in this review a comprehensive update about the action of different types of gold catalysts, from simple to sophisticated ones, on C-H bond reactions and their regiochemical outcome is disclosed. This review also highlights the catalytic applications of Au(I)- and Au(III)-species in creating new opportunities for the regio- and site-selective activation of challenging C-H bonds. Finally, it also intends to stress the potential applications in selective C-H bond activation associated with a variety of heterocycles recently described in the literature.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions are central to many organic synthesis methodologies. Traditionally, Pd, Ni, Cu, and Fe catalysts are used to promote these reactions. Recently, many studies have showed that both homogeneous and heterogeneous Au catalysts can be used for activating selective cross-coupling reactions. Here, an overview of the past studies, current trends, and future directions in the field of gold-catalyzed coupling reactions is presented. Design strategies to accomplish selective homocoupling and cross-coupling reactions under both homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions, computational and experimental mechanistic studies, and their applications in diverse fields are critically reviewed. Specific topics covered are: oxidant-assisted and oxidant-free reactions; strain-assisted reactions; dual Au and photoredox catalysis; bimetallic synergistic reactions; mechanisms of reductive elimination processes; enzyme-mimicking Au chemistry; cluster and surface reactions; and plasmonic catalysis. In the relevant sections, theoretical and computational studies of AuI /AuIII chemistry are discussed and the predictions from the calculations are compared with the experimental observations to derive useful design strategies.

Abstract
Gold is currently one of the most used metals in organometallic catalysis. The ability of gold to activate unsaturated groups in different modes, together with its tolerance to a wide range of functional groups and reaction conditions, turns gold-based complexes into efficient and highly sought after catalysts. Natural products and relevant compounds with biological and pharmaceutical activity are often characterized by complex molecular structures. (Cyclo)isomerization reactions are often a useful strategy for the generation of this molecular complexity from synthetically accessible reactants. In this review, we collect the most recent contributions in which gold(I)- and/or gold(III)-catalysts mediate intramolecular (cyclo)isomerization transformations of unsaturated species, which commonly feature allene or alkyne motifs, and organize them depending on the substrate and the reaction type.

Abstract
With their mechanistic novelty and various modalities of reactivity, transition metal unsaturated carbene (alkenylidene) complexes have emerged as versatile intermediates for new reaction discovery. In particular, the past decade has witnessed remarkable advances in the chemistry of metal vinylidenes and allenylidenes, leading to the evolution of a diverse array of new catalytic transformations that are mechanistically distinct from those developed in the previous two decades. This review aims to provide a survey of the recent achievements in the development of organic reactions that make use of transition metal alkenylidenes as catalytic intermediates and their applications to organic synthesis.

Abstract
An unprecedented, often almost quantitative access to tricyclic aromatic compounds by dual gold catalysis was developed. This synthetic route expands the scope of benzofulvene derivatives through a C(sp2 )-H bond insertion in easily available starting materials. The insertion takes place with an exclusive chemoselectivity with respect to the competing aromatic C-H positions. A bidirectional synthesis with two competing ortho-aryl C-H bonds in the selectivity-determining step also shows perfect selectivity; this result is explained by a computational investigation of the two conceivable intermediates. The intramolecular competition of two non-equivalent aryl C-H bonds with a benzylic methyl group also showed perfect selectivity.

Abstract
By employing gold catalysis, starting from dialkynylated acenes a series of novel un-symmetrical aceno-annulated dibenzopentalenes has been prepared. The achieved yields range from 62-68 %. The fused systems contain naphthalene, anthracene, tetracene, and pentacene units. All new compounds are soluble and stable under standard conditions. The optical properties of the systems are dominated by the dibenzopentalene core for the smaller representatives, while for the anthracene-pentacene-based aceno-benzopentalenes the optical properties of the acene group dominates. Preliminary morphology tests on thin films showed a reverse trend between crystal size and molecule size.
