Abstract
The development of highly efficient and deep blue emitters satisfying the color specification of the commercial products has been a challenging hurdle in the organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, deep blue OLEDs with a narrow emission spectrum with good color stability and spin-vibronic coupling assisted thermally activated delayed fluorescence are reported using a novel multi-resonance (MR) emitter built on a pure organic-based molecular platform of fused indolo[3,2,1-jk]carbazole structure. Two emitters derived from 2,5,11,14-tetrakis(1,1-dimethylethyl)indolo[3,2,1-jk]indolo[1',2',3':1,7]indolo[3,2-b]carbazole (tBisICz) core are synthesized as the MR type thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters realizing a very narrow emission spectrum with a full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM) of 16 nm with suppressed broadening at high doping concentration. The tBisICz core is substituted with a diphenylamine or 9-phenylcarbazole blocking group to manage the intermolecular interaction for high efficiency and narrow emission. The deep blue OLEDs achieve high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 24.9%, small FWHM of 19 nm, and deep blue color coordinate of (0.16, 0.04) with good color stability with increase in doping concentration. To the authors' knowledge, the EQE in this work is one of the highest values reported for the deep blue OLEDs that achieve the BT.2020 standard.

Abstract
Developing efficient and color-saturated deep-blue emitting molecules with small Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage (CIE) y values is challenging and has great potential for wide-color gamut displays. Herein, we introduce an intramolecular locking strategy to restrain molecular stretching vibrations of the emission spectral broadening. By cyclizing rigid fluorenes and connecting electron-donating groups to the indolo[3,2,1-jk]-indolo[1',2',3':1,7]indolo[2,3-b]carbazole (DIDCz) framework, the in-plane swing of peripheral bonds and stretching vibrations of the indolocarbazole skeleton are restricted due to an increased steric hindrance from cyclized groups and diphenylamine auxochromophores. As a result, reorganization energies at the high-frequency region (1300-1800 cm-1) are reduced, realizing pure blue emission with a small full-width-at-half-maximum (FWHM) of 30 nm by suppressing shoulder peaks of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) frameworks. The fabricated bottom-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) exhibits an efficient external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 7.34% and deep-blue coordinates of (0.140, 0.105) at a high brightness of 1000 cd/m2. The FWHM of the electroluminescent spectrum is only 32 nm, which is one of the narrowest electroluminescent emissions among the reported intramolecular charge transfer fluophosphors. Our current findings provide a new molecular design strategy to conceive efficient and narrowband emitters with small reorganization energies.

Abstract
Narrow-band emission is essential for applicable circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) active materials in ultrahigh-definition CP-OLEDs. One of the most promising classes of CPL active molecules, helicenes, however, typically exhibit broad emission with a large Stokes shift. We present, herein, a design strategy capitalizing on intramolecular donor-acceptor interactions between nitrogen and boron atoms to address this issue. 1,4-B,N-embedded configurationally stable single- and double helicenes were synthesized straightforwardly. Both helicenes show unprecedentedly narrow fluorescence and CPL bands (full width at half maximum between 17-28 nm, 0.07-0.13 eV) along with high fluorescence quantum yields (72-85 %). Quantum chemical calculations revealed that the relative localization of the natural transition orbitals, mainly on the rigid core of the molecule, and small values of root-mean-square displacements between S0 and S1 state geometries, contribute to the narrower emission.

Abstract
Developing solution-processable red organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with high color purity and efficiency based on multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) is a formidable challenge. Herein, by introducing auxiliary electron donor and acceptor moieties into the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) distributed positions of multiple resonance skeleton simultaneously, an effective strategy to obtain red MR-TADF emitters was represented. The proof-of-the-concept molecule BN-R exhibits a narrowband pure-red emission at 624 nm, with a high luminous efficiency of 94 % and a narrow bandwidth of 46 nm. Notably, the fabricated solution-processable pure-red OLED based on BN-R exhibits a state-of-the-art external quantum efficiency over 20 % with the Commission Internationale de I'Éclairage coordinates of (0.663, 0.337) and a long operational lifetime (LT50 ) of 1088 hours at an initial luminance of 1000 cd m-2 .

Abstract
Chiral boron/nitrogen doped multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) emitters are promising for highly efficient and color-pure circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs). Herein, we report two pairs of MR-TADF materials (Czp-tBuCzB, Czp-POAB) based on planar chiral paracyclophane with photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 98 %. The enantiomers showed symmetric circularly polarized photoluminescence spectra with dissymmetry factors |gPL | of up to 1.6×10-3 in doped films. Meanwhile, the sky-blue CP-OLEDs with (R/S)-Czp-tBuCzB showed an external quantum efficiency of 32.1 % with the narrowest full-width at half-maximum of 24 nm among the reported CP-OLEDs, while the devices with (R/S)-Czp-POAB displayed the first nearly pure green CP electroluminescence with |gEL | factors at the 10-3 level. These results demonstrate the incorporation of planar chirality into MR-TADF emitter is a reliable strategy for constructing of efficient CP-OLEDs.

Abstract
A novel macrocycle of B/N-doped calix[4]arene (C-BN) was synthesized by a one-shot double boronation. Owing to the structural tension and electron-donating properties of the nitrogen atoms in the macrocycle, reaction selectively proceeds between the adjacent benzene rings outside the macrocycle. C-BN shows a highly centrosymmetric structure with two multiple resonance (MR) fragments bridged by tertiary amine groups at the 1,3 positions of the benzene ring. Benefiting from the large intermolecular distance (>4.6 Å) between adjacent MR-emitting cores, C-BN also exhibits excellent narrowband emitting features against aggregation-induced quenching and spectrum broadening. Optimized organic light-emitting diode devices based on C-BN exhibit high maximum external quantum efficiencies of 24.7-26.6 % and small full width at half maximums of 25-28 nm over a wide doping range of 1-12 wt %.

Abstract
The novel carbazole-based multiresonance types of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) emitters of mICz-DABNA and BFCz-DABNA are reported, and their spectroscopic properties are investigated with the inductive effect on the central nitrogen atom for pure and deep blue emission. With the introduction of electron-donating/-withdrawing properties of substituents, emitters exhibited the bathochromic/hypsochromic shifted emission, respectively, compared to simple carbazole-based MR-TADF. Moreover, their spectral bandwidths became narrower. Theoretical calculation indicated that the meta-positioned bulky moiety restricts the molecular geometry discrepancy and reduces the Huang-Rhys factors. Particularly, the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) with 3% BFCz-DABNA exhibited the maximum external quantum efficiency of 28.0% with the Commission International de l'Éclairage (CIE) of (0.13, 0.09), which is the best record value among single-boron MR-TADF devices of CIE y < 0.10.

Abstract
Narrowband emissive organoboron emitters featuring the multi-resonance (MR) effect have now become a critical material component for constructing high-performance organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with pure emission colors. These MR organoboron emitters are capable of exhibiting high-efficiency narrowband thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) by allowing triplet-to-singlet reverse intersystem crossing (RISC). However, RISC involving spin-flip exciton upconversion is generally the rate-limiting step in the overall TADF; hence, a deeper understanding and precise control of the RISC dynamics are ongoing crucial challenges. Here, we introduce the first MR organoboron emitter (CzBSe) doped with a selenium atom, demonstrating a record-high RISC rate exceeding 108 s-1 , which is even higher than its fluorescence radiation rate. Furthermore, the spin-flip upconversion process in CzBSe can be accelerated by factors of ≈20000 and ≈800, compared to those of its oxygen- and sulfur-doped homologs (CzBO and CzBS), respectively. Unlike CzBO and CzBS, the photophysical rate-limiting step in CzBSe is no longer RISC, but the fluorescence radiation process; this behavior is completely different from the conventional time-delaying TADF limited by the slow RISC. Benefitting from its ultrafast exciton spin conversion ability, OLEDs incorporating CzBSe achieved a maximum external electroluminescence quantum efficiency as high as 23.9 %, accompanied by MR-induced blue narrowband emission and significantly alleviated efficiency roll-off features.

Abstract
Multi-resonance TADF (MR-TADF) emitters are promising for high-resolution OLEDs, but the concurrent optimization of excited-state dynamics and color purity remains a tough challenge. Herein, three deep-blue MR-TADF compounds (BN1-BN3) featuring gradually enlarged ring-fused structures and increased rigidity are accessed by lithium-free borylation in high yields from the same precursor, with all the emitters possessing CIEy coordinates below 0.08. Structure-property investigations demonstrate a strategic improvement of the oscillator strength (fosc ) and acceleration of the reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) process by extending the π-skeleton, where BN3 realizes a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 37.6 % and reduced roll-off, thus showing the best efficiency reported for deep-blue TADF OLEDs. The internal regulation of the efficiency and color purity of these compounds validate the general effectiveness to achieve advanced deep-blue narrowband emitters with higher-order boron/nitrogen-based MR motifs.

Abstract
Herein, we report a general strategy for achieving ultra-pure green emissions by suppressing the shoulder peaks in the emission spectra of conventional polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Through precise synthetic fusion of multi-resonance (MR) fragments with conventional PAH, extended π-conjugation lengths, increased molecular rigidity, and reduced vibrational frequency could be simultaneously realized. The proof-of-concept emitters exhibited ultra-pure green emissions with dominant peaks at ca. 521 nm, photoluminescence quantum yields that are greater than 99 %, a small full-width-at-half-maximum of 23 nm, and CIE coordinates of (0.16, 0.77). The bottom-emitting organic light-emitting diode (OLED) exhibited a record-high CIEy value of 0.74 and a high maximum external quantum efficiency of 30.5 %. The top-emitting OLED not only achieved a BT.2020 green color (CIE: 0.17, 0.78) for the first time but also showed superior performance among all green OLED devices, with a current efficiency of 220 cd A- .

Abstract
Herein, a ternary boron-oxygen-nitrogen embedded polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF), namely DBNO, is developed by adopting the para boron-π-boron and para oxygen-π-oxygen strategy. The designed molecule presents a vivid green emission with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (96 %) and an extremely narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 19 nm/0.09 eV, which surpasses all previously reported green TADF emitters to date. In addition, the long molecular structure along the transition dipole moment direction endows it with a high horizontal emitting dipole ratio of 96 %. The organic light-emitting diode (OLED) based on DBNO reveals a narrowband green emission with a peak at 504 nm and a FWHM of 24 nm/0.12 eV. Particularly, a significantly improved device performance is achieved by the TADF-sensitization (hyperfluorescence) mechanism, presenting a FWHM of 27 nm and a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 37.1 %.

Abstract
Multi-resonance (MR) thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters are highly attractive due to their superior color purity as well as efficient light-harvesting ability from singlets and triplets. However, boron and nitrogen-based MR-TADF emitters suffer from their strong π-π interaction owing to their rigid flat cores. Herein, a boron-based multi-resonance blue TADF emitter with suppressed intermolecular interaction and isomer formation is developed through a simple synthetic process by introducing meta-xylene and meta-phenyphenyl groups to the core. The MR-TADF emitter, mBP-DABNA-Me, shows a narrowband blue emission with a peak at 467 nm, along with full width at half maximum of 28 nm, and photoluminescence quantum yield of 97%. Notably, highly efficient pure blue organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is realized using mBP-DABNA-Me, showing a maximum external quantum efficiency of 24.3% and a stable blue emission with a Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage coordinate of (0.124, 0.140). The color purity of the OLED is maintained at a high doping concentration of over 20%, attributed to the suppressed intermolecular interaction between the MR emitters.

Abstract
To achieve high-efficiency deep-blue electroluminescence satisfying Rec.2020 standard blue gamut, two thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters are developed: 5-(2,12-di-tert-butyl-5,9-dioxa-13b-boranaphtho[3,2,1-de]anthracen-7-yl)-10,10-diphenyl-5,10-dihydrodibenzo[b,e][1,4]azasiline (TDBA-PAS) and 10-(2,12-di-tert-butyl-5,9-dioxa-13b-boranaphtho[3,2,1-de]anthracen-7-yl)-9,9-diphenyl-9,10-dihydroacridine (TDBA-DPAC). Inheriting from their parented organoboron multi-resonance core, both emitters show very promising deep-blue emissions with relatively narrow full width at half-maximum (FWHM, ≈50 nm in solution), high photoluminescence quantum yield (up to 92.3%), and short emission lifetime (≤2.49 µs) with fast reverse intersystem crossing (>106 s-1 ) in doped films. More importantly, replacing the spiro-centered sp3 C atom (TDBA-DPAC) with the larger-radius sp3 Si atom (TDBA-PAS), enhanced conformational heterogeneities in bulky-group-shielded TADF molecules are observed in solution, doped film, and device. Consequently, OLEDs based on TDBA-PAS retain high maximum external quantum efficiencies ≈20% with suppressed efficiency roll-off and color index close to Rec.2020 blue gamut over a wide doping range of 10-50 wt%. This study highlights a new strategy to restrain spectral broadening and redshifting and efficiency roll-off in the design of deep-blue TADF emitters.

Abstract
Nitrogen-containing polycyclic heteroaromatics have exhibited fascinating multi-resonance (MR) characteristics for efficient narrowband emission, but strategies to bathochromic shift their emissions while maintaining the narrow bandwidths remain exclusive. Here, homogeneous hexatomic rings are introduced into nitrogen-embedded MR skeletons to prolong the π-conjugation length for low-energy electronic transitions while retaining the non-bonding character of the remaining parts. The proof-of-the-concept emitters exhibit near unity photoluminescence quantum yields with peaks at 598 nm and 620 nm and small full-width-at-half-maximums of 28 nm and 31 nm, respectively. Optimal organic light-emitting diodes exhibit a high external quantum efficiency of 18.2 %, negligible efficiency roll-off, and ultra-long lifetime with negligible degradation at an initial luminance of 10 000 cd m-2 after 94 hours.

Abstract
Multiple resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) emitters show great potentials for high color purity organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, the simultaneous realization of high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and high reverse intersystem crossing rate (kRISC ) is still a formidable challenge. Herein, a novel asymmetric MR-TADF emitter (2Cz-PTZ-BN) is designed that fully inherits the high PLQY and large kRISC values of the properly selected parent molecules. The resonating extended π-skeleton with peripheral protection can achieve a high PLQY of 96 % and a fast kRISC of above 1.0×105 s-1 , and boost the performance of corresponding pure green devices with an outstanding external quantum efficiency (EQE) of up to 32.8 % without utilizing any sensitizing hosts. Remarkably, the device sufficiently maintains a high EQE exceeding 23 % at a high luminance of 1000 cd m-2 , representing the highest value for reported green MR-TADF materials at the same luminescence.

Abstract
Replacement of the carbon-carbon bonds of antiaromatic compounds with polar boron-nitrogen bonds often provides isoelectronic BN compounds with excellent thermodynamic stability and interesting photophysical properties. By this element-substitution strategy, we synthesized a new B4 N4 -heteropentalene derivative, 1, which is fully substituted with mesityl groups. Owing to kinetic protection by the sterically bulky substituents, 1 is remarkably stable toward air and even water. Single-crystal X-ray analysis of 1 revealed the bonding characteristics of the B4 N4 -heteropentalene structure. In a glassy matrix, 1 emitted short-wavelength phosphorescence with an onset at 350 nm, indicating that the triplet energy is substantially high. DFT calculations reasonably explained the ground- and excited-state electronic structures of 1 as well as its emission properties. Motivated by the high-energy triplet state of 1, we used it as a host material to fabricate a phosphorescent organic light-emitting diode with an external quantum efficiency of 15 %.

Abstract
Establishing a simple and versatile design strategy to finely modulate emission colors while retaining high luminescence efficiency and color purity remains an appealing yet challenging task for the development of multi-resonance-induced thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) materials. Herein, we demonstrate that the strategic introduction of electron-withdrawing imine and electron-donating amine moieties into a versatile boron-embedded 1,3-bis(carbazol-9-yl)benzene skeleton enables systematic hypsochromic and bathochromic shifts of narrowband emissions, respectively. By this method, effective electroluminescence color tuning was accomplished over a wide visible range from deep-blue to yellow (461-571 nm), using the same MR molecular system, without compromising very narrow spectral features. Deep-blue to yellow organic light-emitting diodes with maximum external quantum efficiencies as high as 19.0-29.2 % and superb color purity could be produced with this family of color-tunable MR-TADF emitters.

Abstract
The title compound, C18H12N2O2, was synthesized from a di-nitro-biphenyl-benzene derivative using a novel modification of the Cadogan reaction. The reaction has several possible ring-closed products and the title compound was separated as the major product. The X-ray crystallographic study revealed that the carbazole compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P space group and possesses a single closed Cadogan ring. There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Abstract
Herein, we reported an ultrapure blue multiple-resonance-induced thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) material (ν-DABNA-O-Me) with a high photoluminescence quantum yield and a large rate constant for reverse intersystem crossing. Because of restricted π-conjugation of the HOMO rather than the LUMO induced by oxygen atom incorporation, ν-DABNA-O-Me shows a hypsochromic shift compared to the parent MR-TADF material (ν-DABNA). An organic light-emitting diode based on this material exhibits an emission at 465 nm, with a small full-width at half-maximum of 23 nm and Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage coordinates of (0.13, 0.10), and a high maximum external quantum efficiency of 29.5 %. Moreover, ν-DABNA-O-Me facilitates a drastically improved efficiency roll-off and a device lifetime compared to ν-DABNA, which demonstrates significant potential of the oxygen atom incorporation strategy.

Abstract
Developing organic luminophores with unique capability of strong narrowband emission is both crucial and challenging for the further advancement of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Herein, a nanographitic fused-nonacyclic π-system (BSBS-N1), which was strategically embedded with multiple boron, nitrogen, and sulfur atoms, was developed as a new multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) emitter. Narrowband sky-blue emission with a peak at 478 nm, full width at half maximum of 24 nm, and photoluminescence quantum yield of 89 % was obtained with BSBS-N1. Additionally, the spin-orbit coupling was enhanced by incorporating two sulfur atoms, thereby facilitating the spin-flipping process between the excited triplet and singlet states. OLEDs based on BSBS-N1 as a sky-blue MR-TADF emitter achieved a high maximum external electroluminescence quantum efficiency of 21.0 %, with improved efficiency roll-off.
