Structure and properties of two new heteroleptic bismuth(III) dithiocabamates of the general composition Bi(S2CNH2)2X (X = Cl, SCN). Abstract
Abstract
The title compounds were prepared by precipitation from acidic solutions of the reactants in acetone/water. Bi(S2CNH2)2Cl (1) crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric trigonal space group P32 with a = 8.6121(3) and c = 11.1554(4) Å, Z = 3; Bi(S2NH2)2SCN (2) in P21/c (monoclinic) with a = 5.5600(2), b = 14.3679(5), c = 12.8665(4) Å, and β = 90.37(3)°. In the crystal structure of 1 Bi3+ is in a sevenfold coordination of two bidentate and one monodentate S2CHNH2
− anions with an asymmetric coordination pattern of five Bi–S and two Bi–Cl− bonds. The linkage of these polyhedra via common Cl–S edges leads to a 1D polymeric structure with undulated chains propagating in the direction [001]. These chains are linked by strong and medium strong hydrogen bonds forming the 3D crystal structure. In the crystal structure of 2 the Bi3+ cation is in an eightfold coordination. The polyhedron can be described as a significantly distorted tetragonal anti-prism, capped by an additional S atom. Two of these prisms share a common quadrilateral face to form a “prism-double” (Bi2S10N2). These building units are linked by common edges, and the resulting 1D infinite angulated chains propagate along [100]. By contrast to organo-dithiocarbamate compounds, where C–H···X bridges are dominant, the interchain connections in the crystal structures of 1 and 2 are formed exclusively via N–H···S, N–H···Cl, and N–H···N interactions, generating the 3D networks. A significant eccentricity of the Bi3+ cation in the crystal structures of both complexes is observed. Both compounds emit light in the orange range of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Abstract
Antimony(III) halide complexes of the formulae {[SbBr(Me2DTC)2]n} (1), {[SbI(Me2DTC)2]n} (2) and {[(Me2DTC)2Sb(μ2-I)Sb(Me2DTC)2](+).I3(-)} (3) (Me2DTC = dimethyldithiocarbomate) were synthesized from SbX3, (X = Br or I) and tetramethylthiuram monosulfide (Me4tms) or tetramethylthiuram disulfide (Me4tds). The complexes were characterized by melting point (m.p.), elemental analysis (e.a.), Fourier-transform Infra-Red (FT-IR), Fourier-transform Raman (FT-Raman), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance ((1)H,(13)C-NMR) spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric-Differential Thermal Analysis (TG-DTA). Crystal structures of complexes 1-3 were determined with single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are polymers with distorted square pyramidal (SP) geometry in each monomeric unit, whereas complex 3 is ionic, containing an iodonium linkage Sb-I(+)-Sb and an I3(-) counter anion; to the best of our knowledge, this is the first ionic antimony(III) iodide complex. The in vitro cytotoxic activity of 1-3 against human adenocarcinoma cells: breast (MCF-7) and cervix (HeLa) cells and non-cancerous cells: MRC-5 (normal human fetal lung fibroblast cells) was evaluated with trypan blue (TB) and sulforhodamine B (SRB) assays. Among antimony(III) compounds with sulfur containing ligand, those of dithiocarbamates exhibit significant cytotoxic activity. Hirshfeld surface volumes were analyzed to clarify the nature of the intermolecular interactions by the 2D fingerprint plot. Molecules with lower H-all atoms inter-molecular interactions exhibit the higher activity against MCF-7 cells. The in vivo genotoxicity of 1-3 was evaluated by the mean of Allium cepa test. Alterations in the mitotic index values due to the chromosomal aberrations were observed in the case of complexes 2 and 3. Since, no such alteration is caused by 1, it makes this compound candidate for further study as potential drug.

Abstract
Compounds of antimony(III) with mixed sulfur donor ligands of the type [(ROCS2)2SbS2CNR'2] (where, R=C2H5, and (i)C3H7; R'=CH3, C2H5, and CH2CH2) have been synthesized using anhydrous acetone as a solvent by the one pot reaction of antimony(III) tris(O-alkyldithiocarbonato-S,S'), antimony(III) chloride and sodium/ammonium salt of dialkyldithiocarbamate in 2:1:3molar ratios. These compounds have been characterized by physicochemical [melting points, molecular weight determinations, elemental analyses (C, H, N, S, and Sb)], spectral [UV, IR, Far-IR and NMR ((1)H and (13)C)] studies. In IR spectra strong band was observed at 1028-1051cm(-1) which indicates anisobidentate mode of bonding of both the ligands with antimony metal. NMR spectral data of these compounds show expected proton resonance due to corresponding moieties. The powder XRD, ESI-Mass and thermal (TG and DTA) studies have also been performed to get the information about geometrical parameters, fragmentation pattern and last thermal decomposition product, respectively. The powder XRD studies lead to the structural properties of the synthesized compounds and show the nanorange crystallite size and monoclinic crystal system. Thermal data of these compounds indicate the formation of antimony sulfide (Sb2S3) as a final thermal degradation product which is used in a number of ways like switching devices television cameras and microwave devices.

Abstract
On thermal decomposition of the mixed sulfur donor antimony(iii) complexes, we obtained antimony sulfide at 600 °C, which was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX).

Abstract
Complexes [Bi(2Fo4Ph)Cl(2)] (1), [Bi(2Ac4Ph)Cl(2)] (2), [Bi(2Bz4Ph)Cl(2)] (3), [Bi(H(2)Gy3DH)Cl(3)] (4), [Bi(H(2)Gy4Et)(OH)(2)Cl] (5), and [Bi(H(2)Gy4Ph)Cl(3)] (6) were prepared with pyridine-2-carbaldehyde 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (H2Fo4Ph), 1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethanone 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (H2Ac4Ph), phenyl(pyridin-2-yl)methanone 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (H2Bz4Ph), as well as with glyoxaldehyde bis(thiosemicarbazone) (H(2)Gy4DH) and its 4-Et (H(2)Gy4Et) and 4-Ph (H(2)Gy4Ph) derivatives. The complexes exhibited antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Coordination to Bi(III) proved to be an effective strategy to increase the antibacterial activity of the thiosemicarbazones and bis(thiosemicarbazones).

Abstract
In recent years, the chemical potential of bismuth and bismuth compounds has been actively exploited. Bismuth salts are known for their low toxicity, making them potential valuable reagents for large-scale synthesis, which becomes more obvious when dealing with products such as active pharmaceutical ingredients or synthetic intermediates. Conversely, bismuth compounds have been widely used in medicine. After extensive use in the treatments of syphilis and other bacterial infections before the advent of modern antibiotics, bismuth compounds remain important for the treatment of several gastrointestinal disorders and also exhibit antimicrobial properties and cytotoxic activity, among others. This review updates relevant advances in the past few years, concerning the application of bismuth reagents and catalysts in innovative synthetic processes for the preparation of compounds of medicinal interest, as well as the preparation, biological evaluation and potential medicinal uses of bismuth compounds.

Abstract
Some mixed sulfur donor ligand complexes of antimony(III) of the general formula [(R(2)NCS(2))](2)SbS(2)COR' where R = CH(3), C(2)H(5) and R' = Me, Et, Pr(n), Pr(i), Bu(n) and Bu(i) have been synthesized by the reaction of antimony(III) bis(dialkyldithiocarbamate) chloride with potassium organodithiocarbonate in an equimolar ratio by stirring at room temperature in benzene/CS(2) mixture. These complexes have been characterized by physicochemical [elemental analysis, melting points and molecular weight determinations] and spectral [UV, IR, Far-IR, NMR ((1)H and (13)C), FAB(+) mass and powder X-ray diffraction] studies. Free ligands and synthesized complexes have also been screened against different bacterial strains and results obtained made it desirable to delineate a comparison between free ligands, standard drug used and synthesized complexes.

Replacement reactions of toluene-3,4-dithiolatoantimony(III) chloride with oxygen and/or sulphur donor ligands like benzoic acid, thiobenzoic acid, thioacetic acid, phenol, thiophenol, sodium salicylate and thio glycolic acid in 1:1 molar ratio as well as disodium oxalate in 2:1 molar ratio in refluxing anhydrous benzene yielded toluene-3,4-dithiolatoantimony(III) mono oxo and/or thio carboxylic or phenolic derivatives of the general formula {R=OOCC(6)H(5), SOCC(6)H(5), SOCCH(3), OC(6)H(5), SC(6)H(5), OOCC(6)H(4)(OH) and SCH(2)COOH} and These newly synthesized derivatives are yellow and brown solids/liquids and are soluble in common organic solvents like benzene, chloroform, dichloromethane, etc. These derivatives have been characterized by melting point determination, molecular weight determination, elemental analysis (C, H, S and Sb), spectral {UV, IR and NMR ((1)H and (13)C)} and thermal (TGA, DTA and DSC) studies.
