Abstract
Two structurally new Lindqvist hexaniobate-templated silver thiolate clusters, [Nb6O19@Ag45(iPrS)23(CH3COO)14] (Ag45) and (H3O)4[Nb6O19@Ag41KS2.5O2(H2O)7.5(iPrS)24(CH3COO)5] (Ag41), were synthesized using a facile one-pot solvothermal approach. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses revealed the presence of a classical Lindqvist-type [Nb6O19]8- anion template, with iPrS- and CH3COO- surface-protecting ligands in both silver clusters, which can further form two-dimensional Ag45 assembly and one-dimensional Ag41 chain packing structures. Both Ag45 and Ag41 clusters exhibited intriguing photothermal conversion properties and temperature-dependent emission behavior.

Abstract
Nanoparticles (NPs) with atomic precision, known as nanoclusters (NCs), are an emerging field in materials science in view of their fascinating structure-property relationships. Ultrasmall noble metal NPs have molecule-like properties that make them fundamentally unique compared with their plasmonic counterparts and bulk materials. In this review, we present a comprehensive account of the chemistry of monolayer-protected atomically precise noble metal nanoclusters with a focus on the chemical reactions, their diversity, associated kinetics, and implications. To begin with, we briefly review the history of the evolution of such precision materials. Then the review explores the diverse chemistry of noble metal nanoclusters, including ligand exchange reactions, ligand-induced structural transformations, and reactions with metal ions, metal thiolates, and halocarbons. Just as molecules do, these precision materials also undergo intercluster reactions in solution. Supramolecular forces between these systems facilitate the creation of well-defined hierarchical assemblies, composites, and hybrid materials. We conclude the review with a future perspective and scope of such chemistry.

Abstract
Two 48-nuclei silver nanocages with similar structures and compositions were synthesized by using Keggin-type polyoxometalates (POMs) BW12 and SiW11Ni as anionic templates. However, their photoluminescence and photocurrent properties showed obvious differences. These results suggest that POMs not only serve as anion templates in constructing silver clusters but also influence their properties.

Abstract
Electronic structures of anion-templated silver nanoclusters (Ag NCs) are not well understood compared to conventional, template-free Ag NCs. In this study, we synthesized three new anion-templated Ag NCs, namely [S@Ag17(S-4CBM)15(PPh3)5]0, [S@Ag18(S-4CBM)16(PPh3)8]0, and [Cl@Ag18(S-4CBM)16(PPh3)8][PPh4], where S-4CBM = 4-chlorobenzene methanethiolate, and single-crystal X-ray crystallography revealed that they have S@Ag6, S@Ag10, and Cl@Ag10 cores, respectively. Investigation of their electronic structures by optical spectroscopy and theoretical calculations elucidated the following unique features: (1) their electronic structures are different from those of template-free Ag NCs described by the superatomic concept; (2) optical absorption in the range of 550-400 nm for S2--templated Ag NCs is attributed to the charge transitions from S2--templated Ag-cage orbitals to the s-shaped orbital in the S2- moiety; (3) the Cl--templated Ag NCs can be viewed as [Cl@Ag18(S-4CBM)16(PPh3)8]0[PPh4]0 rather than the ion pair [Cl@Ag18(S-4CBM)16(PPh3)8]-[PPh4]+; and (4) singlet-coupled singly occupied orbitals are involved in the optical absorption of the Cl--templated Ag NC.

Abstract
Metal nanoclusters (NCs) are gaining much attention in nanoscale materials research because they exhibit size-specific physicochemical properties that are not observed in the corresponding bulk metals. Among them, silver (Ag) NCs can be precisely synthesized not only as pure Ag NCs but also as anion-templated Ag NCs. For anion-templated Ag NCs, we can expect the following capabilities: 1) size and shape control by regulating the central anion (anion template); 2) stabilization by adjusting the charge interaction between the central anion and surrounding Ag atoms; and 3) functionalization by selecting the type of central anion. In this review, we summarize the synthesis methods and influences of the central anion on the geometric structure of anion-templated Ag NCs, which include halide ions, chalcogenide ions, oxoanions, polyoxometalate, or hydride/deuteride as the central anion. This summary provides a reference for the current state of anion-templated Ag NCs, which may promote the development of anion-templated Ag NCs with novel geometric structures and physicochemical properties.

Abstract
The compound [(Nb6O19)@Ag34(tBuCC)24(CH3COO)2] (Ag34) was synthesized using the solvothermal method combined with volatilization. This was the first case, to the best of our knowledge, of isolating a silver cluster containing a polyoxoniobate (PONb) template. The luminescence, solution behavior and solid-state stability of Ag34 were studied in detail. Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry indicated that Ag34 can maintain the integrity of its skeleton in solution. Detection of temperature could be a potential application of its unique luminescent behavior. We expect this work to inspire further fabrications of PONb-templated high-nuclearity silver clusters.

Abstract
The presence of DMSO provides a unique ability to stabilize silver toroidal complexes in the direct reaction between AgStBu and AgNO3 at 80 °C. Slow cooling results in large crystals of [NO3@Ag19.2(StBu)10(DMSO)5.2(NO3)8.2]·3DMSO (1), which were isolated and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis. The crystal structure contains both {Ag20(StBu)10} and {Ag19(StBu)10} clusters. The solution of these material in DMSO was studied with HPLC techniques, which demonstrated the presence of both complexes in solution. The use of [SiW12O40]4– as counter anion gives crystals of a double complex salt [Ag17.8(NO3)3.8(StBu)10][SiW12O40]·30DMSO (2) under the same conditions. Temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) was studied.

Abstract
The synthesis of nanoclusters from simple structural units is usually a challenging process because of the complexity and unpredictability of the self-assembly process of these types of compounds. Herein, two new neutral 19-nuclearity silver nanoclusters based on alkynyl ligands with the formulas [(CrO4)@Ag19(C≡CtBu)8(Ph2PO2)6(tfa)3(CH3OH)2] (1) and [(SO4)@Ag19(C≡CtBu)8(Ph2PO2)6(tfa)3(CH3OH)2] (2), in which tfa = trifluoroacetate, were synthesized, and their structures were investigated by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, elemental analyses, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The surface ligands of Ph2PO2H and trifluoroacetate were assembled through hydrogen bonding, metal-aromatic interactions, and coordination bonding around 19 silver atoms as the metal skeletons of the nanoclusters. Sulfate and chromate anions, as a template within the metal skeleton of clusters through bonding with silver atoms, stabilized the structure. In addition, the UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, luminescence properties, and thermal stability of the nanoclusters were investigated.

Abstract
The facile syntheses of enantiomeric atomically precise silver clusters starting from achiral ligands remain a substantial challenge to explore. In this work, a pair of atomically precise enantiomers of R/S-[Ag17Cl(iPrS)9S(CH3COO)5H2O] (R/S-Ag17, iPrS = isopropanethiolate) clusters have been synthesized using a viable solvothermal approach. The chirality of the resulting enantiomeric R/S-Ag17 clusters is attributed to the asymmetric arrangement of surface achiral ligands. Both R/S-Ag17 enantiomers could form the two-dimensional (2D) assemblies via intercluster interactions of basic building blocks containing Ag16S8 moieties, iPrS-Ag motifs, and S2- linkers. Such a small ligand-induced 2D assembly greatly contributes to the enhancement of thermal stability and photocatalytic activity of R/S-Ag17 clusters, providing possibilities for exploring robust coinage cluster-based assembly with attractive catalytic properties.

Abstract
A polyoxometalate-templated thiolate-protected silver nanocluster, [Cu3(Mo4O16)2@Ag55(CyhS)43(CH3O)(COOCF3)]·3H2O, has been isolated under solvothermal conditions. In situ insertion of three Cu2+ ions into two polymolybdate anions generated a new, sandwich-type D3h-symmetric [Cu3(Mo4O16)2]10- polyoxoanion template encapsulated into an Ag55(CyhS)43 shell. The structure and composition of this Ag nanocluster have been fully characterized. This work has provided a new way to develop high-nuclearity metal nanoclusters with various structures.

Abstract
Metalloligand strategy has been well recognized in the syntheses of heterometallic coordination polymers; however, such a strategy used in the assembly of silver nanoclusters is not broadly available. Herein, we report the stepwise syntheses of a family of halogen-templated Ag42 nanoclusters (Ag42c-Ag42f) based on MoVI-anchored p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene (H4TC4A) as a metalloligand (hereafter named MoO3-TC4A). X-ray crystallography demonstrates that they are similar C3-symmetric silver-organic nanocalices capped by six MoO3-TC4A metalloligands, which are evenly distributed up and down the base of 42 silver atoms. These nanoclusters can be disassembled to six bowl-shaped [Ag11(MoO3-TC4A)(RS)3] secondary building units (SBUs, R = Et or nPr), which are fused together in a face-sharing fashion surrounding Cl- or Br- as a central anion template. The electrospray mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) indicates their high stabilities in solution and verifies the formation of the MoO3-TC4A metalloligand, thereby rationalizing the overall stepwise assembly process for them. Moreover, Ag42c shows lower cytotoxicity and better activity against the HepG-2 cell line than MCF-7 and BGC-823. These results not only exemplify the effectiveness of a thiacalix[4]arene-based metalloligand in the assembly of silver nanoclusters but also give us profound insight about the step-by-step assembly process in silver nanoclusters.

Abstract
Compound [Ag 44 (W 10 O 32 )(S t Bu) 24 (CF 3 COO) 8 ](CF 3 COO) 6 ·6H 2 O ( 1 ) was synthesized through the one-pot method, which is the first case of isolating a new silver thiolate cluster containing a [W 10 O 32 ] 6- template which transforms from WO 4 2- polyoxoanion through a self-assembly process. The anionic nature of the reduced [W 10 O 32 ] 6- template and the effective silver-oxygen interaction contribute to the formation of the Ag 44 nanowheel in 1 . The luminescence, photocatalytic activity and electrochemistry properties of 1 were studied.

Abstract
Structural modulation of core-shell silver nanoclusters from the inside is a huge challenge but of great importance in their syntheses. Herein, two silver nanoclusters [Ag3 S9 @Ag42 ] (SD/Ag45b) and [Ag9 S9 @Ag42 ] (SD/Ag51a) are isolated in the presence of different kinds of sulfonic acids. Uniquely, SD/Ag45b and SD/Ag51a show typical core-shell structures with the similar Ag42 shell but different cores. The outer shell of 42 silver atoms comprises two Ag3 trigons at two poles encircled by three equatorial distorted square cupolas (J4 , Ag12 ). The core in SD/Ag45b is a silver trigon ligated by nine S2- ions (Ag3 S9 ), while a tricapped triangular prismatic Ag9 also ligated by the same amount of S2- ions (Ag9 S9 ) is observed in the inner core of SD/Ag51a. The electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) indicates that the introduction of p-toluenesulfonic acid can realize the transformation from SD/Ag45b to Ag51 . SD/Ag45b and SD/Ag51a show inverse luminescence thermochromic behaviors in the near-infrared (NIR) region, mainly dictated by the inner silver cores. This work not only realizes the synthesis of new silver nanoclusters by core modulation but also provides a prototype to get molecular-level insight into the correlation between structure and luminescence thermochromism.

Abstract
It is well known that structure determines property, but obtaining a pair of silver nanoclusters with comparable structures to understand the structure-property relationship is a very challenging task. A new 60-nuclei silver nanocluster (SD/Ag60a) protected by a mixed-ligand shell of tBuS- and o-CH3OPhCOO- was obtained and characterized. Single crystal x-ray diffraction reveals that SD/Ag60a has an identical metal nuclearity and core-shell structural type to SD/Ag1 previously reported by our group, whereas the compositions of the core and shell have undergone a rearrangement from an Ag12 cuboctahedron core and an Ag48 rhombicuboctahedron shell in SD/Ag1 to an Ag14 rhombic dodecahedron core and an oval Ag46 shell in SD/Ag60a. The core enlargement from Ag12 to Ag14 originates from the replacement of two S2- in Ag12S15 by two Ag+, which gives a new Ag14S13 core. This result indicates that the metal frameworks of silver nanoclusters have some extent flexibility despite the same nuclearity, which can be influenced by ligands, solvents, anion templates, and others in the embryonic stage of the assembly. Interestingly, different core-shell architectures of Ag60 nanoclusters also significantly endow the different optical absorption bands, photocurrent-generating properties, and luminesecent behaviors. This work not only realizes the regulation of the core-shell structure of silver nanoclusters with the same nuclearity but also provides a comparable model for investigating the relationship of structure-photoelectric properties.

Abstract
Screening of AgNO3/AgStBu solutions in DMF, DMSO and NMP resulted in the isolation of three novel nanosized silver/thiolate complexes with a torus-like {Ag20(StBu)10} core. The structures of [NO3@Ag20(StBu)10(NO3)9(DMF)6] (1) and [NO3@Ag20(tBuS)10(NO3)8(NMP)8][NO3@Ag19(tBuS)10(NO3)8(NMP)6]2(NO3) (2) were studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD). The self-assembly process leading to 1 can be switched to a different outcome using Br-, resulting in [Br@Ag16(StBu)8(NO3)5(DMF)3](NO3)2 (3), which is the one of the few genuine host-guest complexes in the silver/thiolate systems. Solutions of the individual complexes in CH3CN were studied by HR-ESI-MS techniques, which revealed a dynamic behavior for each complex, driven by a redistribution of the {AgNO3} units. This dynamics results in the appearance of both cationic and anionic species, based on unchanged silver-thiolate cores. Daylight causes degradation of 3 with the formation of a composite material based on defective orthorhombic Ag2S with a porous morphology, as observed using the SEM technique. The electrocatalytic HER activity of such a material was studied.

Abstract
Unraveling the total structure of the atom-precise silver cluster-assembled materials (CAMs) is extremely significant to elucidating the structure-property correlation, but it is a very challenging task. Herein, a new silver CAM is synthesized by a facile synthetic pathway with a unique distorted elongated square-bipyramid-based Ag11 core geometry. The core is protected by two different kinds of the surface protecting ligands (adamantanethiolate and trifluoroacetate) and connected through a bidentate organic linker. The crystallographic data show that this material embraces a one-dimensional periodic structure that orchestrates by various noncovalent interactions to build a thermally stable supramolecular assembly. Further characterization confirms its n-type semiconducting property with an optical band gap of 1.98 eV. The impact of an adamantanethiol-protected silver core on the optical properties of this type of periodic framework is analyzed by the UV-vis absorbance and emission phenomena. Theoretical calculations predicted that the occupied states are majorly contributed by Ag-S. Solvent-dependent photoluminescence studies proved that a polar solvent can significantly perturb the metal thiolate and thiolate-centered frontier molecular orbitals that are involved in the electronic transitions.

Abstract
In this work, organic supramolecular linkers involving cucubit[6]urils CB[6] and N,N'-hexamethylene-bis(pyrazinyl hexafluorophosphate) (BPHF@CB[6]) were utilized to assemble dodenuclear silver chalcogenolate clusters into three one-dimensional (1D) materials under different synthesis conditions. These three crystal structures of CB[6]-based sliver cluster-organic rotaxane frameworks were well resolved, and their emission properties were investigated systematically. This construction strategy involving organic supramolecular linkers gives a new methodology for cluster-assembled materials with intriguing structural and functional properties.

Abstract
Synthesis remains a major strength in chemistry and materials science and relies on the formation of new molecules and diverse forms of matter. The construction and identification of large molecules poses specific challenges and has historically lain in the realm of biological (organic)-type molecules with evolved synthesis methods to support such endeavours. But with the development of analytical tools such as X-ray crystallography, new synthesis methods toward large metal-based (inorganic) molecules and clusters have come to the fore, making it possible to accurately determine the precise distribution of hundreds of atoms in large clusters. In this review, we focus on different synthesis protocols used to form new metal clusters such as templating, alloying and size-focusing strategies. A specific focus is on group 11 metals (Cu, Ag, Au) as they currently predominate large metal cluster investigations and related Au and Ag bulk surface phenomena. This review focuses on metal clusters that have very high-nuclearity, i.e. with 50 or more metal centers within the isolated cluster. This size domain, it is believed, will become increasingly important for a variety of applications as these metal clusters are positioned at the interface between the molecular and bulk phases, whilst remaining a classic nanomaterial and retaining unique nano-sized properties.

Abstract
Constructing silver(i)-thiolate clusters from simple building blocks usually involves elusive self-assembly processes and remains a long-standing challenge. In this work, we report 6 silver(i)-thiolate clusters protected by pyridines, namely, [Ag3(tBuS)2(Py)(NO3)]n (Py = pyridine) (1), [Ag10(tBuS)6(Py)6(CF3CO2)4]·3Py (2), [Ag12(iPrS)6(Py)8(NO3)6]·2H2O (3), Ag12(iPrS)6(Py)8(CF3CO2)6 (4), Ag12(iPrS)6(4-ap)6(NO3)6 (4-ap = 4-aminopyridine) (5), and [Ag50S13(tBuS)20(Py)12]·4BF4·4Py·4CH3OH·2H2O (6). Single-crystal X-ray crystallography analysis reveals that six clusters are constructed by four types of structural blocks, including the PyAg(tBuS)2 monomer, Py2Ag2(tBuS)2 dimer, Py3Ag3(tBuS)3 trimer and (4-ap)6Ag6(iPrS)6 hexamer. Notably, cluster 6 consists of a rhombic dodecahedron S@Ag14 kernel with 12 interstitial S2- atoms encapsulated by 8 μ4-tBuS- ligands, as well as six unique butterfly-like (Py)2Ag6(tBuS)2 staple motifs composed of a Py2Ag2(tBuS)2 dimer and four silver ions. Moreover, it is found that pyridine ligands have important influence on the construction of silver thiolate clusters and their Ag-SR bond lengths.

A Keplerian Ag 90 nest of Platonic and Archimedean polyhedra in different symmetry groups. Nat Commun 2020; 11:3316. Abstract
Polyhedra are ubiquitous in chemistry, biology, mathematics and other disciplines. Coordination-driven self-assembly has created molecules mimicking Platonic, Archimedean and even Goldberg polyhedra, however, nesting multiple polyhedra in one cluster is challenging, not only for synthesis but also for determining the alignment of the polyhedra. Here, we synthesize a nested Ag90 nanocluster under solvothermal condition. This pseudo-Th symmetric Ag90 ball contains three concentric Ag polyhedra with apparently incompatible symmetry. Specifically, the inner (Ag6) and middle (Ag24) shells are octahedral (Oh), an octahedron (a Platonic solid with six 3.3.3.3 vertices) and a truncated octahedron (an Archimedean solid with twenty-four 4.6.6 vertices), whereas the outer (Ag60) shell is icosahedral (Ih), a rhombicosidodecahedron (an Archimedean solid with sixty 3.4.5.4 vertices). The Ag90 nanocluster solves the apparent incompatibility with the most symmetric arrangement of 2- and 3-fold rotational axes, similar to the arrangement in the model called Kepler’s Kosmos, devised by the mathematician John Conway. Nested polyhedra are compelling but incredibly complex synthetic targets in cluster chemistry. Here, the authors synthesize a Ag90 nanocluster comprising three concentric polyhedra with apparently incompatible octahedral (Oh) and icosahedral (Ih) symmetry, a mathematical oddity that is solved by the shells’ symmetric arrangement around rotational 2- and 3-fold axes.

Abstract
Most of polyoxometallates (POMs) templated silver nanoclusters recorded so far are polyoxomolybdates and polyoxotungstates; however, as congeneric polyoxochromates, they are rarely observed in silver nanoclusters. Herein, a high-nuclearity polyoxochromate, (CrIII4CrVI8O36)12-, is uncovered in a novel silver nanocluster (SD/Ag56a) as an anion template. The mixed-valent (CrIII4CrVI8O36)12- consists of four edge-sharing CrIIIO6 octahedra and eight CrVIO4 tetrahedra, which are fused together by sharing one or two vertexes. The (CrIII4CrVI8O36)12- is the by far highest nuclearity polyoxochromate and is trapped by outer Ag56 bracelet-like shell coprotected by quaternary ligands including iPrS-, NapCOO- (2-naphthalenecarboxylate), CF3COO-, and CH3CN. The antiferromagnetic property and solution behavior of SD/Ag56a are discussed in detail.

A hierarchically assembled 88-nuclei silver-thiacalix[4]arene nanocluster. Nat Commun 2020; 11:308. [PMID: 31949133 PMCID: PMC6965622 DOI: 10.1038/s41467-019-13682-5] [Citation(s) in RCA: 64] [Impact Index Per Article: 16.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/08/2019] [Accepted: 11/15/2019] [Indexed: 12/13/2022] Open
Abstract
Thiacalix[4]arenes as a family of promising ligands have been widely used to construct polynuclear metal clusters, but scarcely employed in silver nanoclusters. Herein, an anion-templated Ag88 nanocluster (SD/Ag88a) built from p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene (H4TC4A) is reported. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that C4-symmetric SD/Ag88a resembles a metal-organic super calix comprised of eight TC4A4− as walls and 88 silver atoms as base, which can be deconstructed to eight [CrO4@Ag11(TC4A)(EtS)4(OAc)] secondary building units arranged in an annulus encircling a CrO42− in the center. Local and global anion template effects from chromates are individually manifested in SD/Ag88a. The solution stability and hierarchical assembly mechanism of SD/Ag88a are studied by using electrospray mass spectrometry. The Ag88 nanocluster represents the highest nuclearity metal cluster capped by TC4A4−. This work not only exemplify the specific macrocyclic effects of TC4A4− in the construction of silver nanocluster but also realize the shape heredity of TC4A4− to overall silver super calix. The assembly of giant silver clusters by using macrocylic multidentate ligand remains a challenge. Here, the authors synthesize a chromate-templated 88-nuclei silver super calix and reveal the role of anion templating effects and a hierarchical assembly mechanism.

Abstract
Due to the elusive nature of polyoxometallates (POMs) in the assembly of silver clusters, POMs trapped by silver clusters are usually different from the pristine form, which surely increases the novelty of the assembly results but makes the final structure predictability challenging. Herein, three novel high-nuclearity silver-thiolate clusters trapping two kinds of classical POMs, Lindqvist-Mo6O192- and V10O286-, are reported. They are identified to be [(V10O28)@Ag44] (SD/Ag44a), [(V10O28)@Ag46] (SD/Ag46), and [(Mo6O19)@Ag44] (SD/Ag44b) clusters, which are further extended to 1D chain, 2D sql layer, and 3D pcu framework, respectively. Of note, SD/Ag44b contains a regular cubic Mo6O19 core sealed by an Ag44(EtS)24 shell in a pseudo-sodalite unit and six SCl4 planar squares connecting the respective adjacent silver tetragonal faces. This structure is a novel zeolite closely related to the natural alumino-silicate 'sodalite' but exceptionally made of core-shell silver clusters. Moreover, the Oh symmetric Mo6O192- templates an Oh symmetric Ag44 cluster in SD/Ag44b, realizing authentic symmetry delivery from guest to host in this system. This is a rare silver cluster family with classical POMs encapsulated.

Abstract
The synthesis of atom-precise analogues of homometallic nanoclusters remains a great challenge. Herein we report the first pair of atom-precise copper/silver-thiolate halide cluster analogues, namely [Cu17/Ag17I3S(C2B10H10S2)6(CH3CN)11] (Cu17 and Ag17), obtained by bottom-up self-assembly and complete-metal-exchange-induced cluster-to-cluster transformation, respectively. The differences in optical absorption and emission of these analogues were fully elucidated by experimental and theoretical methods.

Abstract
The structural transformation of high-nuclearity silver clusters from one to another induced by specific stimuli is of scientific significance in terms of both cluster synthesis and reactivity. Herein, we report two silver-thiolate clusters, [Mo6O22@Ag44] and [Mo8O28@Ag50], which are templated by isopolymolybdates inside and covered by iPrS- and PhCOO- ligands on the surfaces. Amazingly, the [Mo8O28@Ag50] can be transformed from [Mo6O22@Ag44] by adding PhCOOH which increases the degree of condensation of molybdates template from Mo6O228- to Mo8O288-, then enlarging the outer silver shell from Ag44 to Ag50. The evolution of solution species revealed by time-dependent electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) suggests a breakage-growth-reassembly (BGR) transformation mechanism. These results not only provide a combined assembly strategy (anion-template + induced transformation) for the synthesis of silver-thiolate clusters but also help us to better understand the complex transformation process underpinning the assembly system.
