Abstract
The present work reports on the ultrafast nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of a series of D-π-Α and D-A push-pull carbazole-based dyes and establishes a correlation between these properties and their efficiency for potential photonic and optoelectronic applications such as multiphoton lithography (MPL). The ultrafast NLO properties of the studied dyes are determined by two distinct experimental techniques, Z-scan and pump-probe optical Kerr effect (OKE), employing 246 fs laser pulses at 515 nm. The results indicate that chemical functionalization of the carbazole moiety with various strong electron-donating and/or electron-withdrawing groups, such as benzene, styrene, 4-bromostyrene, nitrobenzene, trimethyl isocyanurate, methyl, and indane-1,3-dione, can result in a controlled and significant enhancement of the NLO absorptive and refractive responses. In the context of potential applications, the efficiency of carbazole-based organic materials as photoinitiators (PIs) for MPL applications is demonstrated. The fabricated woodpile microstructure using chemically functionalized carbazole as a PI demonstrates improvements in both feature size and MPL efficiency compared to that using unfunctionalized carbazole as a PI. This is attributed to the efficient charge transfer resulting from chemical functionalization, which leads to a substantial increase (approximately 1 order of magnitude) in the values of the imaginary part of the second-order hyperpolarizability (Imγ) and the two-photon absorption cross section (σ). The achieved feature size of 280 nm is comparable to that obtained with other widely used PIs in MPL applications. Additionally, owing to the strong NLO properties of the studied functionalized carbazole, they could also be promising candidates for further applications in photonics and optoelectronics.

Abstract
Two-photon polymerization (2PP) represents a powerful technique for the fabrication of precise three-dimensional structures on a micro- and nanometer scale for various applications. While many review articles are focusing on the used polymeric materials and their application in 2PP, in this review the class of two-photon photo initiators (2PI) used for radical polymerization is discussed in detail. Because the demand for highly efficient 2PI has increased in the last decades, different approaches in designing new efficient 2PIs occurred. This review summarizes the 2PIs known in literature and discusses their absorption behavior under one- and two-photon absorption (2PA) conditions, their two-photon cross sections (σTPA ) as well as their efficiency under 2PP conditions. Here, the photo initiators are grouped depending on their chromophore system (D-π-A-π-D, D-π-D, etc.). Their polymerization efficiencies are evaluated by fabrication windows (FW) depending on different laser intensities and writing speeds.

D–π–A–π–D Initiators Based on Benzophenone Conjugate Extension for Two-Photon Polymerization Additive Manufacturing. PHOTONICS 2022. Abstract
A two-photon polymerization initiator is a kind of nonlinear optical material. With the demand for more efficient initiators in two-photon polymerization additive manufacturing, there are more and more related studies. In this paper, four conjugate-extended two-photon polymerization initiators with different alkane chain lengths were designed and synthesized, and single-photon, two-photon, and photodegradation experiments were carried out. Additive manufacturing experiments illustrated that the designed molecules can be used as two-photon initiators, and the writing speed can achieve 100,000 μm/s at a laser power of 25 mW. Through theoretical calculation and experimental comparison of the properties of molecules with different conjugation degrees, it was proven that a certain degree of conjugation extension can improve the initiation ability of molecules; however, this improvement cannot be extended infinitely. Solubility tests of different acrylates showed that molecules with different alkane chain lengths have varying solubility. Changing the molecular alkane chain length may be favorable to adapt to different monomers.

Abstract
High-resolution, high-speed 3D printing by two-photon polymerization (2PP) with a Nd:YVO4 Q-switched microchip laser at its fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm is demonstrated. Polymerization scan speeds of up to 20 mm/s and feature sizes of 250 nm are achieved using a high repetition rate Q-switched microchip laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) and photoresist with a new photo-initiator bearing 6-dialkylaminobenzufuran as electron donor and indene-1,3-dione moiety as electron acceptor. The obtained results demonstrate the high potential of Q-switched microchip lasers for applications in 2PP 3D printing.

Abstract
A series of all-trans acceptor–π-donor (acceptor) compounds (BAQ, SFQ, BLQ, and XJQ) were conveniently synthesised and characterised by infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Their photophysical properties, including linear absorption, one-photon excited fluorescence, two-photon absorption, and two-photon excited fluorescence, were systematically investigated. All the compounds show obvious solvatochromic effects, such as significant bathochromic shifts of the emission spectra and larger Stokes shifts in more polar solvents. Under excitation from a femtosecond Ti : sapphire laser with a pulse width of 140 fs, they all exhibit strong two-photon excited fluorescence, and the two-photon absorption cross-sections in THF are 851 (BAQ), 216 (SFQ), 561 (BLQ), and 447 (XJQ) GM respectively. A combination of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) approaches was used to investigate the relationships between the structures and the photophysical properties of these compounds. The results show that they may have a potential application as polarity-sensitive two-photon fluorescent probes.
