Abstract
Libraries of polynorbornadienes were synthesized with good yields with a ruthenium-containing 2nd generation Grubbs catalyst by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of a variety of symmetric and non-symmetric 2,3-bis(alkoxycarbonyl)norbornadiene monomer units prepared from the half-esters obtained efficiently by the selective monohydrolysis reactions of symmetric diesters we reported earlier. Among these polymers, the polynorbornadienes with t-butoxycarbonyl groups derived from non-symmetric monomer units were converted to the half-ester derivatives by deprotection with trifluoroacetic acid, yielding amphiphilic polymers. The hydrogenation reactions of the obtained polymers were carried out to yield polymers having saturated structures in the main chains for improvement of the thermal stabilities. All these polymers were characterized by their molecular weights and thermal properties along with the spectroscopic data. Our selective monohydrolysis reactions have been proven to be a versatile tool for production of relatively homogeneous polymer libraries.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a series of green, blue and red-fluorescent exo-oxanorbornene acid and imide monomers carrying nitrobenzofurazan, coumarin, and Rhodamin B, respectively, as fluorophores is presented. These monomers carry oxanorbornene as polymerizable unit, and were readily copolymerized with bioactive functional oxanorbornene monomers by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP), as demonstrated by gel permeation chromatography and NMR spectroscopy. Due to the ease of synthesis of these monomers, and their cost-effectiveness compared many to other fluorescent probes, they are useful for biomaterials applications.

Abstract
Through a modular ROMP (ring-opening metathesis polymerization) strategy, a random copolymer with anti-thrombotic activity and imaging capability has been constructed from RGD, rhodamine B and PEG modified norbornene monomers. As we expected, these tri-component polynorbornenes exhibit significant enhancement in anti-thrombotic efficacy and bioavailability in vivo.

Abstract
ABSTRACT In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of poly(norbornene) homo- and copolymers bearing spiropyran side groups are described. Difficulties in the homopolymerization of spiropyrans due to the opened merocyanine form were observed leading to low polymerization yields for homopolymers while copolymers with 10 mol% spiropyran content were prepared in good yield. Spiropyrans are characterized by their reversible photochromism, which was conserved in the polymers as shown by UV-Vis spectroscopy and FT-IR spectroscopy. The switching between the apolar spiropyran form and the zwitterionic merocyanine form also leads to switchable wettability as evidenced by contact angle measurements. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
