Abstract
BACKGROUND The Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) operates as a non-governmental organization dedicated to offering family planning and reproductive health services to the Ethiopian population. The gap in the study regarding client satisfaction and contributing factors towards sexual and reproductive health services for youth at FGAE clinics highlights the need for a comprehensive investigation to fill this void. By conducting a mixed-method study, this research aims to provide a holistic understanding of the factors influencing client satisfaction in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services to youth at FGAE clinics. The added value of this study lies in its potential to offer valuable insights and recommendations for improving service delivery systems and enhancing client satisfaction levels, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being and health outcomes of youth in North Ethiopia. Therefore study aimed to asses Client Satisfaction and Contributing Factors towards in sexual and reproductive health services delivery system among youth at Family Guidance Association of North Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics, 2023. METHOD The study was conducted within the clinics of the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), spanning Dessie, Kombolcha, and Woldia city administrations, involving a participant cohort of 416 clients. Facility-based concurrent type mixed method study design both quantitative and qualitative techniques were applied. Quantitative research employed a simple random sampling technique and conversely, the qualitative study utilized a heterogeneous type of purposive sampling strategy to recruit participants The collected data underwent a rigorous process of entry, cleaning, and coding using Epi-Data 4.6 software, followed by analysis in STATA V17. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression were employed to highlight the impact of independent variables on the dependent variable. A more comprehensive examination was provided through multivariable logistic regression. Crude and adjusted odds ratios, along with a 95% confidence interval, were computed, with significance set at a p-value ≤ 0.05. RESULT Nearly more than half of the clients 194 (47.8%) came to receive family planning services followed by maternal and child health 107 (26.4%). Sixty patients (14.8%) didn't receive all the services they wanted or came for. Half of the participants 30 (50%) raised the unavailability of the service as a reason for not taking the service followed by not having enough time in the clinic 12 (20%). About 65.52% (60.74-70.00%) of the participants were satisfied with the Sexual and Reproductive Health services provided by the clinics of FGAE in northeast Ethiopia. Clients in the age group of 25-34 (AOR = 2.04; 95%CI: 1.11-3.72). Clients who had primary and secondary education (AOR = 2.49; 95%CI: 1.03-6.02) and (AOR = 3.05; 95%CI: 1.25-7.49) respectively. Clients who responded that physicians show respect (AOR = 5.59; 95%CI: 1.89-16.49). clients who received an explanation about the side effects of the utilized methods and follow-up dates (AOR = 4.59;95%CI:1.68-12.53) and (AOR = 2.89;95%CI:1.53-5.49) respectively. CONCLUSION The proportion of client satisfaction with Client Satisfaction in the Services delivery system at Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics was low as compared to the previous study. Age group 25-34 years, primary and secondary education, showing respect, explaining side-effects and follow-up visits were significant associated factors of client service satisfaction. Enhancing service delivery at Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE) Clinics by targeting specific areas identified in the study. Strategies should focus on improving communication regarding side effects, ensuring respectful interactions, and prioritizing follow-up visits, particularly for clients aged 25-34 with primary and secondary education backgrounds.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Understanding how patient-reported experiences of care and overall rating of care vary among patients with different characteristics is useful to help interpret results from patient experience surveys and design targeted improvement interventions. The primary objective of this paper was to identify the socio-demographic and health-related characteristics independently associated with overall rating of cancer care. The secondary objective was to explore if and how these characteristics were associated with specific experiences of cancer care. METHODS This cross-sectional multicenter study analyzed self-reported data collected from 2696 patients diagnosed with breast, prostate, lung, colorectal, skin, or hematological cancer from four large hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland. Multivariate logistic regressions with purposeful stepwise selection of independent variables were used to identify the socio-demographic and health-related characteristics independently associated with overall rating of cancer care in the primary analyses. In the secondary analyses, we ran the multivariate model from the primary analyses with specific experiences of care as outcomes to estimate the adjusted odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) of the selected characteristics. RESULTS Respondents' mean rating of overall cancer care was 8.5 on a scale from 0 to 10, with 17% categorized as reporting a low rating (0-7 rating). Being a woman (OR 1.43, 95% CI 1.12-1.83), not being Swiss (OR 1.47, 95% CI 1.12-1.94), reporting lower health literacy (OR 1.95, 95% CI 1.54-2.47), preferring making medical decisions alone (OR 1.92, 95% CI 1.38-2.67), having forgone care due to cost (OR 1.72, 95% CI 1.29-2.29), having used complementary medicine (OR 1.55, 95% CI 1.22-1.97), and reporting poorer health (OR 3.12, 95% CI 2.17-4.50) were all independently associated with a low rating of overall cancer care. Poorer health, lower health literacy, and having forgone care were the three characteristics most often associated with problematic experiences of care. CONCLUSIONS Our results identified several patient characteristics consistently associated with lower overall rating of care and specific experiences of cancer care. Among these determinants, health literacy and financial hardship emerged as key recurring factors shaping poor patient experiences that should be prioritized for attention by cancer care services.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The objectives were to describe patients' experiences of cancer care in Switzerland and explore the variation of these experiences by type of cancer. METHODS The Swiss Cancer Patient Experiences (SCAPE) study was a cross-sectional, multicentre survey conducted in 2018. Adult patients (n = 7145) with breast, prostate, lung, colorectal, skin or haematological cancer from four large hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland were invited to complete a survey. Logistic regressions were used to assess whether experiences varied according to cancer type, adjusting for confounders. RESULTS Of the 3121 persons who returned the survey (44% response rate), 2755 reporting an eligible cancer were included in the analyses. Participants' average score for overall care was 8.5 out of a maximum score of 10. Higher rates of positive experiences were found for nurse consultations (94%), diagnostic tests (85%) and inpatient care (82%). Lower positive responses were reported for support for people with cancer (70%), treatment decisions (66%), diagnosis (65%) and home care (55%). We observed non-systematic differences in experiences of care by cancer type. CONCLUSIONS This large study identified that cancer patient experiences can be improved in relation to communication, information and supportive care aspects. Improvement efforts should target these areas of care to enhance responsiveness of cancer care.

Quality of Oncology Nursing Care as Perceived by Patients With Cancer: Results From Three Arab Countries. Cancer Nurs 2021; 45:E545-E551. Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient satisfaction was defined as expectation and perception of the patients about real nursing care they receive. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of oncology nursing care as perceived by patients with cancer in 3 Arabic countries (Jordan, Oman, and Egypt). METHODS A cross-sectional design with convenience sampling approach was used. A total of 517 patients with cancer (Jordan, 200, 38.7%; Sultanate of Oman, 137, 26.5%; and Egypt, 180, 34.8%) participated and completed the study's questionnaires including sociodemographic data and the Quality of Oncology Nursing Care Scale (QONCS). RESULTS Moderate quality of oncology nursing care was reported by the participants. The overall mean for the quality of oncology care as measured by the QONCS-Ar (QONCS Arabic version) was highest in Oman (153.40; SD, 4.10), followed by Jordan (150.93; SD, 2.10) and then Egypt (148.0; SD, 3.80). The results were significantly different in the total score of the QONCS-Ar (F = 45.20, P < .001) among the 3 countries. The results also differed in all domains of oncology nursing care according to days of treatment and marital status. CONCLUSION Findings are considered a baseline for future research and highlight the importance of evaluating quality of oncology nursing care as perceived by the patients with cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE The results from the current study can be used to develop an interventional program focusing on the needs of patients and their perceptions of care.

Abstract
Simple Summary We conducted a review to identify important symptoms reported by patients on questionnaires (e.g., pain) that can be used to compare cancer centers on how well they provide care. For example, cancer centers could be compared on the percentage of patients with controlled pain after adjusting for demographic and clinical characteristics. Standard review methods were used to identify studies through August 2020. Searches generated 1813 articles and 1779 were coded as not relevant. The remaining 34 studies showed that patients, caregivers, clinicians, and healthcare administrators identify psychosocial care (e.g., distress) and symptom management as critical parts of high-quality care. Patients and caregivers also perceive that maintaining physical function and daily activities are important. Clinicians and healthcare administrators perceive control of specific symptoms to be important (e.g., pain, poor sleep, diarrhea). Results were used to inform testing of symptom questionnaires to compare the quality of care provided by six cancer centers. Abstract Performance measurement is the process of collecting, analyzing, and reporting standardized measures of clinical performance that can be compared across practices to evaluate how well care was provided. We conducted a systematic review to identify stakeholder perceptions of key symptoms and health domains to test as patient-reported performance measures in oncology. Stakeholders included cancer patients, caregivers, clinicians, and healthcare administrators. Standard review methodology was used, consistent with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were searched to identify relevant studies through August 2020. Four coders independently reviewed entries and conflicts were resolved by a fifth coder. Efficacy and effectiveness studies, and studies focused exclusively on patient experiences of care (e.g., communication skills of providers) were excluded. Searches generated 1813 articles and 1779 were coded as not relevant, leaving 34 international articles for extraction. Patients, caregivers, clinicians, and healthcare administrators prioritize psychosocial care (e.g., distress) and symptom management for patient-reported performance measures. Patients and caregivers also perceive that maintaining physical function and daily activities are critical. Clinicians and administrators perceive control of specific symptoms to be critical (gastrointestinal symptoms, pain, poor sleep). Results were used to inform testing at six US cancer centers.

Factors contributing to satisfaction with care in cancer outpatients. Support Care Cancer 2021; 29:4575-4586. Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate satisfaction with care (SC) in cancer patients treated at a Spanish day hospital, to identify determinants of SC, and to assess the association between SC and quality of life (QL). METHODS Cross-sectional study in which 119 patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy completed the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30), the Cancer Outpatient Satisfaction with Care questionnaire for chemotherapy (OUT-PATSAT35 CT), and an item on loyalty. Bivariate correlations between each subscale of the OUT-PATSAT35 CT and overall satisfaction, and between the subscales of OUT-PATSAT35 CT and QLQ-C30, were calculated. Multiple linear regression models were used to analyze determinants of patients' SC. RESULTS Mean age was 62.5 years (SD 11.7), and 54.6% of the sample were female. Mean scores for SC were > 75 out of 100 on all OUT-PATSAT35 CT subscales, except environment. Overall satisfaction was higher than satisfaction in any subscale, and all patients would choose the same day hospital again. Correlation with overall satisfaction was moderate but statistically significant for all subscales. Patients treated for tumor recurrence and those undergoing palliative treatment manifested significantly lower overall satisfaction. Correlation between the EORTC QLQ-C30 and the OUT-PATSAT35 CT was not statistically significant, although patients with better health status reported higher satisfaction in several subscales. CONCLUSION Patient-reported SC and loyalty towards the day hospital were high. Disease evolution and aim of treatment were determinants of overall satisfaction. The correlation between SC and QL was unclear. Some areas for improving care were noted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In the Arab world, little is known about cancer patient's satisfaction with the care provided by the oncology nurses. The only explanation for this dearth of knowledge is lack of a specified, valid and reliable tool that can be utilized with all types of cancer. This regional study was conducted to translate and validate the Arabic version of quality of oncology nursing care scale (QONCS). METHODS Brislin's model of translation was used with a cross-sectional, cross-cultural and psychometric design. A convenience sample of 517 from three countries (Jordan, Oman and Egypt) completed the study's surveys. RESULTS The results indicated that the total QONCS-Ar was reliable with Cronbach's alpha 0.88 and 0.84, 0.87, 0.83, 0.89 and 0.86 for being supported and confirmed, with the religious and spiritual care, belonging, being valued and being respected domains respectively. Exploratory factor analysis supported the dimensional structure of the 34-item scale with five domains with Kaiser-Meyer-Oklin (KMO) measuring 0.872 and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity being significant (significant p<0.001) CONCLUSION: QONCS-Ar is a relatively short, valid, reliable and easy to use instrument that can be applied with all types of cancer, research and educational institutions in the Arabic region.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Today, cancer care and treatment primarily take place in an outpatient setting where encounters between patients and healthcare professionals are often brief. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to summarize the literature of adult patients' experiences of and need for relationships and communication with healthcare professionals during chemotherapy in the oncology outpatient setting. METHODS The systematic literature review was carried out according to PRISMA guidelines and the PICO framework, and a systematic search was conducted in MEDLINE, CINAHL, The Cochrane Library, and Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence Based Practice Database. RESULTS Nine studies were included, qualitative (n = 5) and quantitative (n = 4). The studies identified that the relationship between patients and healthcare professionals was important for the patients' ability to cope with cancer and has an impact on satisfaction of care, that hope and positivity are both a need and a strategy for patients with cancer and were facilitated by healthcare professionals, and that outpatient clinic visits framed and influenced communication and relationships. CONCLUSIONS The relationship and communication between patients and healthcare professionals in the outpatient setting were important for the patients' ability to cope with cancer. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Healthcare professionals need to pay special attention to the relational aspects of communication in an outpatient clinic because encounters are often brief. More research is needed to investigate the type of interaction and intervention that would be the most effective in supporting adult patients' coping during chemotherapy in an outpatient clinic.

Abstract
This study explores the experiences and perceptions of recovery in elderly patients who had sustained a proximal humerus fracture. In-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 patients over the age of 65. Thematic analysis identified aspects of care that impacted upon patient experience and quality of life. Seven main patient-reported themes were identified, including pain, sleep, shoulder function, emotional state, social support, relationship with their professional and experience of healthcare institution. These themes offer insight into the experiences of adults receiving care for proximal humerus fracture and highlight that existing quantitative measures of quality of life do not measure domains that are important to patients.

Abstract
Purpose Patients with brain tumors constitute a vulnerable group, and it is important that they receive the highest quality of care (QoC). The study aim was to describe the perceptions of QoC and its association with health-related quality of life in brain tumor patients undergoing proton beam therapy in a newly established clinic. Method Data were collected at the start of treatment and after 3 and 6 weeks. Adult patients (≥ 18 years old) with brain tumors (n = 186) completed two self-administered questionnaires: a modified Quality from the Patients’ Perspective, which measures perceived reality and subjective importance of care, and the EORTC QLQ-C30. Data were analyzed using parametric and non-parametric statistical tests. Results The perceived QoC was highest for treatment information and lowest for dietician and smoking information, whereas interaction with doctors and nurses was rated as the most important aspect of quality of care. Subjective importance ratings were significantly higher than perceived reality ratings for 60% of items. A better global health was moderately correlated with a higher perceived support for fatigue. Conclusions A need for quality improvement was identified for several aspects of patient care. Greater symptom distress during the treatment period led to greater perceived importance of symptom support. Ensuring QoC is complex and collaboration with other health care professionals is essential. Relevance to clinical practice The clinic could improve QoC regarding information about possible symptoms, adjust care according to patient perceptions of importance, and involve patients in care decisions. Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient-reported quality of care, which is often measured by patients' overall rating of care, is gaining more attention within the field of oncology. The aim of this study was to examine factors that determine adult cancer patients' overall rating of prediagnosis care (PDC) and care provided during treatment (CDT). METHODS Data were collected from 2 recurrent nationwide surveys among adult cancer patients in Denmark in 2010 and 2012. Analyses regarding PDC were based on the 2010 study population (n = 3681), and CDT analyses were based on the 2012 follow-up population (n = 2315). Multivariable logistic regression models were applied. RESULTS Overall, 55.1% of patients reported excellent PDC and 61.9% reported excellent CDT. The odds of rating PDC and CDT as excellent differed significantly according to sex, age, and cancer diagnosis. Furthermore, the extent of supportive relatives, comorbidity, self-reported health, and region of treatment significantly determined ratings of CDT. Patients who reported negative experiences related to waiting time, information, coordination, and continuity of care during PDC and CDT, respectively, were significantly less likely overall to rate their care as excellent. The final regression models for PDC and CDT explained 38.2% and 30.6%, respectively, of the variance in the overall rating. CONCLUSION Learning how patient characteristics influence the overall rating of care can enable health care providers to accommodate vulnerable patient groups. Identification of health care aspects that are independently associated with the overall rating of care may enable targeted efforts when planning and prioritizing initiatives aimed at improving the patient-experienced quality of care. Abstract
PURPOSE This cross-sectional study assessed the association between oncology outpatients' quality improvement preferences and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Implementation of specific initiatives preferred by patients with lower HRQoL may be a strategic approach to enhancing care for potentially vulnerable patients. METHODS English-speaking adults were recruited from five outpatient chemotherapy clinics located in New South Wales, Australia. Using touch screen devices, participants selected up to 25 initiatives that would improve their experiences and completed the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General (FACT-G) survey. The logistic odds of selecting an initiative according to FACT-G scores were calculated to determine whether preferences were associated with HRQoL after controlling for potential confounders. RESULTS Of the 411 eligible outpatients approached to participate, 263 (64%) completed surveys. Commonly selected initiatives were up-to-date information on treatment and condition progress (19.8%), access to or information on financial assistance (18.3%), and reduced clinic wait times (17.5%). For those with relatively lower FACT-G scores, the adjusted odds of selecting five initiatives illustrated an increasing trend: convenient appointment scheduling systems (+23% [P = .002]), reduced wait times (+15% [P = .01]), information on medical emergencies (+14% [P = .04]), access to or information on financial assistance (+15% [P = .009]), help to maintain daily living activities (+18% [P = .007]). CONCLUSION Two areas of improvement were commonly selected: easily accessible health services and information and support for self-management. Although the results suggest an association between a few quality improvement preferences and HRQoL, a wider spectrum of patient characteristics must be considered when targeting quality improvement to patient subgroups.

Abstract
Hyponatremia (Na ˂135 mmol/l) is the most frequent electrolyte disorder in clinical practice, and the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) is the commonest cause of hyponatremia in cancer patients. Correcting hyponatremia in these patients can reduce morbidity and mortality, increase the response to anti-cancer agents, and help reduce hospital length of stay and costs. Tolvaptan is an oral medication used to treat SIADH-related hyponatremia patients that needs to be initiated at hospital so patients can have their serum sodium monitored. If tolvaptan could be initiated in hospital day care units (DCUs), performing the same tests, hospitalization could be avoided, quality of life improved, and costs reduced. This is the first publication where a panel of oncologists are sharing their experience and making some recommendations with the use of tolvaptan to treat SIADH-related hyponatremia in DCU after collecting and examining 35 clinical cases with these type of patients. The conclusion from this retrospective observational analysis is that the use of tolvaptan in DCU is safe and effective in the therapeutic management of SIADH-related hyponatremia.

Abstract
Background We have previously reported that higher patient satisfaction (PS) with service quality is associated with favorable survival outcomes in a variety of cancers. However, we argued that patients with greater satisfaction might be the ones with better self-rated health (SRH), a recognized predictor of cancer survival. We therefore investigated whether SRH can supersede patient satisfaction as a predictor of survival in prostate cancer. Methods Nine hundred seventeen prostate cancer treated at four Cancer Treatment Centers of America® hospitals between July 2011 and March 2013. PS was measured on a 7-point scale ranging from “completely dissatisfied” to “completely satisfied”. SRH was measured on a 7-point scale ranging from “very poor” to “excellent”. Both were dichotomized into two categories: top box response (7) versus all others (1–6). Patient survival was the primary end point. Cox regression was used to evaluate the association between PS and survival controlling for covariates. Results The response rate for this study was 72 %. Majority of patients (n = 517) had stage II disease. Seven hundred eighty-seven (85.8 %) patients were “completely satisfied”. Three hundred nineteen (34.8 %) patients had “excellent” SRH. There was a weak but significant correlation between satisfaction and SRH (Kendall’s tau b = 0.18; p < 0.001). On univariate analysis, “completely satisfied” patients had a significantly lower risk of mortality (HR = 0.46; 95 % CI: 0.25-0.85; p = 0.01). Similarly, patients with “excellent” SRH had a significantly lower risk of mortality (HR = 0.25; 95 % CI: 0.11-0.58; p = 0.001). On multivariate analysis, SRH was found to be a significant predictor of survival (HR = 0.31; 95 % CI: 0.12-0.79; p = 0.01) while patient satisfaction was not (HR = 0.76; 95 % CI: 0.40-1.5; p = 0.40). Conclusions SRH supersedes patient satisfaction with service quality as a predictor of survival in prostate cancer. SRH should be used as a control variable in analyses involving patient satisfaction as a predictor of clinical cancer outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS Previously we reported that higher patient satisfaction (PS) with service quality is associated with favorable survival outcomes in a variety of cancers. However, we cautioned the readers that patients with greater satisfaction might be the ones with better self-rated health (SRH), a well-established prognosticator of cancer survival. In other words, SRH could potentially confound the PS and survival relationship. We investigated this hypothesis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS 778 NSCLC patients (327 males and 451 females; mean age 58.8 years) treated at 4 Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospitals between July 2011 and March 2013. PS was measured on a 7-point scale ranging from "completely dissatisfied" to "completely satisfied". SRH was measured on a 7-point scale ranging from "very poor" to "excellent". Both were dichotomized into 2 categories: top box response (7) versus all others (1-6). Patient survival was the primary end point. Cox regression was used to evaluate the association between PS and survival controlling for covariates. RESULTS 74, 70, 232 and 391 patients had stage I, II, III and IV disease respectively. 631 (81.1%) patients were "completely satisfied". 184 (23.7%) patients had "excellent" SRH. There was a weak but significant correlation between overall PS and SRH (Kendall's tau b = 0.19; p<0.001). On univariate analysis, "completely satisfied" patients had a significantly lower risk of mortality (HR = 0.75; 95% CI: 0.57 to 0.99; p = 0.04). Similarly, patients with "excellent" SRH had a significantly lower risk of mortality (HR = 0.61; 95% CI: 0.46 to 0.81; p = 0.001). On multivariate analysis controlling for stage at diagnosis, treatment history and gender, SRH was found to be a significant predictor of survival (HR = 0.67; 95% CI: 0.50 to 0.89; p = 0.007) while PS was not (HR = 0.86; 95% CI: 0.64 to 1.2; p = 0.32). Among the individual PS items, the only significant independent predictor of survival was "teams communicating with each other concerning your medical condition and treatment" (HR = 0.59; 95% CI: 0.36 to 0.94; p = 0.03). CONCLUSION SRH appears to confound the PS-survival relationship in NSCLC. SRH should be used as a control/stratification variable in analyses involving PS as a predictor of clinical cancer outcomes.

Abstract
Health utilization and need assessment data suggest there is considerable variation in access to outpatient specialist care. However, it is unclear if the types of barriers experienced are specific to chronic disease groups or experienced universally. This systematic review provides a detailed summary of common and unique barriers experienced by chronic disease groups when accessing and receiving care, and a synthesized list of possible health service initiatives to improve equitable delivery of optimal care in high-income countries. Quantitative articles describing barriers to specialist outpatient services were retrieved from CINAHL, MEDLINE, Embase, and PyscINFO. To be eligible for review, studies: were published from 2002 to May 2014; included samples with cancer, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, arthritis, ischaemic heart disease, stroke, asthma, chronic pulmonary disorder (COPD) or depression; and, were conducted in high-income countries. Using a previously validated model of access (Penchansky and Thomas' model of fit), barriers were grouped according to five overarching domains and defined in more detail using 33 medical subject headings. Results from reviewed articles, including the scope and frequency of reported barriers, are conceptualized using thematic analysis and framed as possible health service initiatives. A total of 3181 unique records were screened for eligibility, of which 74 studies were included in final analysis. The largest proportion of studies reported acceptability barriers (75.7 %), of which demographic disparities (44.6 %) were reported across all diseases. Other frequently reported barriers included inadequate need assessment (25.7 %), information provision (32.4 %), or health communication (20 %). Unique barriers were identified for oncology, mental health, and COPD samples. Based on the scope, frequency and measurement of reported barriers, eight key themes with associated implications for health services are presented. Examples include: common accommodation and accessibility barriers caused on service organization or physical structure, such as parking and appointment scheduling; common barriers created by poor coordination of care within the healthcare team; and unique barriers resulting from inadequate need assessment and referral practices. Consideration of barriers, across and within chronic diseases, suggests a number of specific initiatives are likely to improve the delivery of patient-centered care and increase equity in access to high-quality health services.

Abstract
This descriptive cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate quality of life for breast cancer patients (n = 105) undergoing chemotherapy, and to assess their satisfaction with nursing care. It also explored relationships between quality of life, satisfaction with nursing care, and demographic and disease-related characteristics. Ethics approval for this study was provided. The research was carried out between October 2011 and June 2012. Quality of life and satisfaction with nursing care were assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General Scale, the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale and the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scale. We found that emotional well-being was the area most negatively affected, with patients reporting being afraid of death, feeling sad and being worried about their health. Patients were overall quite satisfied with the nursing care they received at the hospital. We found a positive correlation between total scores on the Newcastle Satisfaction with Nursing Scale and social and family well-being scores. Breast cancer patients have fears and concerns about their health and need support during chemotherapy for coping with negative changes in their emotional well-being, physical and functional well-being.
