Interaction of 5-Fluorouracil on the Surfaces of Pristine and Functionalized Ca12O12 Nanocages: An Intuition from DFT

The utilization of nanostructured materials for several biomedical applications has tremendously increased over the last few decades owing to their nanosizes, porosity, large surface area, sensitivity, and efficiency as drug delivery systems. Thus, the incorporation of functionalized and pristine nanostructures for cancer therapy offers substantial prospects to curb the persistent problems of ineffective drug administration and delivery to target sites. The potential of pristine (Ca₁₂O₁₂) and formyl (-CHO)- and amino (-NH₂)-functionalized (Ca₁₂O₁₂-CHO and Ca₁₂O₁₂-NH₂) derivatives as efficient nanocarriers for 5-fluorouracil (5FU) was studied at the B3LYP-GD3(BJ)/6-311++G(d,p) theoretical level in two electronic media (gas and solvent). To effectively account for all adsorption interactions of the drug on the investigated surfaces, electronic studies as well as topological analysis based on the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and noncovalent interactions were exhaustively utilized. Interestingly, the obtained results divulged that the 5FU drug interacted favorably with both Ca₁₂O₁₂ and its functionalized derivatives. The adsorption energies of pristine and functionalized nanostructures were calculated to be -133.4, -96.9, and -175.6 kcal/mol, respectively, for Ca₁₂O₁₂, Ca₁₂O₁₂-CHO, and Ca₁₂O₁₂-NH2. Also, both topological analysis and NBO stabilization analysis revealed the presence of interactions among O₃-H₃₂, O₂₇-C₂₄, O₁₀-C₂₇, and N₂₄-H₃₂ atoms of the drug and the surface. However, 5FU@Ca₁₂O₁₂-CHO molecules portrayed the least adsorption energy due to considerable destabilization of the molecular complex as revealed by the computed deformation energy. Therefore, 5FU@Ca₁₂O₁₂ and 5FU@Ca₁₂O₁₂-NH₂ acted as better nanovehicles for 5FU.

A model of FeN-decorated BeO layer particle for CO gas adsorption

Carbon monoxide (CO) is known as a deathful gas produced by burning of hydrocarbons in a lack of enough oxygen, in which breathing CO leads to serious issues on human life health quality. Therefore, adsorption of CO gas is an essential task for diagnosis or removal of this dreadful gas in environment. To do this, a HEME-like model of iron-nitrogen-doped beryllium oxide (FeNBeO) monolayer was investigated for adsorbing CO gas by performing density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Two models were obtained for this process, in which relaxation of CO with C-head or O-head towards Fe region of monolayer. The results indicated that the formation of FeNBeO-CO model could be achieved more favorable than the formation of FeNBeO-OC model. The obtained optimized geometers and energies all approved this achievement for favorability of FeNBeO-CO model formation. Moreover, molecular orbital based electronic features indicated variations of such features for the models upon adsorption of CO substance, in which the models could be detectable in a sensor function for the existence of CO gas in the environment. As a consequence, the investigated FeNBeO monolayer could be proposed useful for adsorption of CO gas at least for the CO deathful gas diagnosis purposes.

A foundational theoreticalAl12E12(E = N, P) adsorption and quinolone docking study: cage–quinolone pairs, optics and possible therapeutic and diagnostic applications

This combined Al₁₂E₁₂ (E = N, P) surface adsorption and docking study describes the new possibility of prospective potential probing(photophysical/optical) and therapy(medicinal/biochemical) with these adsorbent conjugates. DFT investigations were undertaken herein to help generate geometrical models and better understand the possible favorable adsorption energetics. We attempt to explain their adsorption behaviors and docking involving SARS-CoV-2 viruses (PDB)to assess their possible pharmaceutical potential against the pandemic virus (COVID-19). The adsorption behavior of 8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline (MQ) and its halogenated derivatives, 5,7-diiodo-8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline (MQI), 5,7-dichloro-8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline (MQCl), and 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline (MQBr), with aluminum-nitrogen (AlN), and aluminum-phosphorous (AlP) fullerene-like nanocages is reported. A decrease in the hardness of the nanoclusters when adsorbed with drug molecules resulted in an incrementally improved chemical softness (see e.g., Hard-Soft Acid Base theory) indicating that reactivity of the drug molecule in the resulting complex increases upon cluster chemical adsorption. The energy gap is found to be maximized for AlN-MQ and minimized for AlP-MQI; the reduced density gradient (RDG) iso-surfaces and AIM studies also corroborated this. Therefore, these two were found, respectively, to be the least and most electrically conductive of the species under study. We selected a simple medicinal building block (chelator)in addition to selecting the cluster based on previous literature reports. Important parameters such as gap energies and global indices were determined. We assessed NLO properties. The SARS-CoV-2 virus PDB docking data for 6VW1, 6VYO, 6WKQ, 7AD1, 7AOL, 7B3C, were enlisted as ligand targets for studies of docking (PatchDock Server) using the requisite PDB geometries (For the structure of 6VW1, kindly see reference, 2020; For the structure of 6VYO kindly see reference, 2020; For the structure of 6WKQ kindly see reference, 2020; For the structure of 7AD1 kindly see reference, 2021; For the structure of 7AOL kindly see reference, 2021; For the structure of 7B3C kindly see reference, 2021). Different metal-decorated aluminum phosphide nanotubes as hydrazine sensors for biomedical applications

B3LYP, B97D, and M06-2X density functionals are utilized for probing the effect of decorating X (X = Co, Ti, Sc, or Ca) metals on the sensing performance of an aluminum phosphide nanotube (AlPNT) in detecting the hydrazine (HZ) gas. We predict that the interaction of pristine AlPNT with HZ is physisorption, and our calculated sensing response (SR) of AlPNT is approximately 2.7. The adsorption energy of HZ changes from - 4.6 to - 21.0, - 21.9, - 22.4, and - 23.8 kcal/mol by decorating the Co, Ti, Sc, and Ca metals into the AlPNT surface, respectively. Also, Co, Ti, Sc, and Ca rise the SR to 22.5, 36.8, 50.4, and 89.0, respectively, indicating that by increasing the atomic radius of metals, the sensitivity is more increased. So, we concluded that Ca much more increases the sensitivity of AlPNT toward HZ. Our calculations demonstrate that the electrostatic interaction has the main contribution in the formation of HZ/X decorated AlPNT (X@AlPNT) complexes. The expected recovery time is 22.0 s for the HZ desorption from the Ca@AlPNT at 298 K. Finally, we found that all of the X@AlPNTs have superior sensing performance toward HZ compared to the X@carbon nanotubes.

A quick review of advantages and limitations of biological fertilizers in wheat cultivation

Achieving adequate, healthy and nutritious food is emphasized as one of the basic rights of individuals in society in all the world countries. In this regard, the agricultural sector is committed to approach the necessary capability in establishing food security and self-reliance on basic products. Soil is very important as a basic source and bed of production, so that food safety mainly depends on soil security and to enlighten thoughts. Due to climate changes, lack of organic matters, and soil conditions, soil fertility management and nutrition of wheat plant are important. To this aim, knowing information about the soils and providing required nutrients could help to approach desired levels of wheat production in quantity and quality. Instead of chemical fertilizers, biological fertilizers have been seen useful for approaching the purposes. However, lack of enough information besides negative sights of view by the farmers are those the most important limiting factors. Therefore, investigating various aspects of biological fertilizers is very important for reaching a point of optimum usage of biological fertilizers for sustainable agricultural systems especially for the wheat production.

Density functional theory investigation of ozone gas uptake by a BeO nanoflake

Due to importance of the gas uptake topic in environment and energy issues, this work was performed for investigating ozone (Oz) gas uptake by means of a beryllium oxide (BeO) nanoflake. To this aim, density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) analysis were performed. The monolayer BeO nanoflake was decorated by a HEME-like N4Fe region to prepare an interacting region towards the Oz uptake. Accordingly, three models were optimized based on configurations of Oz molecule relaxation at the BeO surface, in which two types of O ... Fe and O ... N interactions were observed. In this case, Oz3@BeO model was involved with two mentioned types of interactions and three occurred interaction between Oz and BeO making it as the strongest bimolecular formation model of Oz@BeO. Moreover, electronic molecular orbital features indicated that the models formations could be also related to sensor functions by variations of electric conductivity because of Oz gas uptake. As a consequence, the investigated BeO nanoflake of this work was proposed for employing in Oz gas uptake for different purposes.

Double chelation of Iron through dimer formation of favipiravir: Density functional theory analysis

This work was performed to examine an idea about full chelation of Iron (Fe) by well-known favipiravir (Fav) as a possible mechanism of action for medication of COVID-19 patients. To this aim, formations of Fe- mediated dimers of Fav were investigated by performing density functional theory (DFT) computations of electronic and structural features for singular and dimer models. The results indicated that the models of dimers were suitable for formation, in which two cis (D1) and trans (D2) models were obtained regarding the configurations of two Fav counterparts towards each other. Energy results indicated that formation of D1 was slightly more favorable than formation of D2. Molecular orbital features affirmed hypothesized interacting sites of Fav for Fe-mediated dimers formations, in which atomic charges and other molecular orbital related representations affirmed such achievements. Moreover, detection of such dimer formation was also possible by monitoring variations of molecular orbitals features. As a consequence, formations of Fe-mediated dimers of Fav could be achievable for possible removal of excess of Fe as a proposed mechanism of action for Fav in medication of COVID-19 patients.

DFT investigation of BN, AlN, and SiC fullerene sensors for arsine gas detection and removal

 Quantum chemical density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to investigate the adsorption of arsine (AsH3) gaseous substance at the surface of representative models of boron nitride (B16N16), aluminum nitride (Al16N16), and silicon carbide (Si16C16) fullerene-like nanocages. The results indicated that the adsorption processes of AsH3 could be taken place by each of B16N16, Al16N16, and Si16C16 nanocages. Moreover, the electronic molecular orbital properties indicated that the electrical conductivity of nanocages were changed after the adsorption processes enabling them to be used for sensor applications. To analyze the strength of interacting models, the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) was employed. As a typical achievement of this work, it could be mentioned that the investigated Si16C16 fullerene-like nanocage could work as a suitable adsorbent for the AsH3 gaseous substance proposing gas-sensor role for the Si16C16 fullerene-like nanocage.

A detailed kinetic study on the tautomerization reactions of barbituric acid: A combined DFT-QTAIM analysis

A detailed kinetic study on the tautomerization reactions of barbituric acid (BA) at elevated temperatures from 270 K up to 1000 K was performed in this work. The B3LYP/6-311 + G(3df,2p) density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed to evaluate the rate constants of transition states (TS) conversions of the tautomerization reactions. The connections from a given TS to the corresponding local minima of the reactant and product sides were confirmed by means of employing the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC) method. Moreover, the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) approach was employed to analyze the molecular mechanisms of reactions. The effects of vibrational normal mode frequencies of the reactant and TS were investigated on the curvature of the corresponding Arrhenius plot in the presence and absence of the tunneling effect. For each tautomerization reaction, the investigated reaction was partitioned into three different stages and four zones. The obtained results were plotted along with the corresponding reaction coordinates for each reaction considering and comparing different factors in agreement with already affirmed concepts. As a consequence, details of performed kinetic study on the tautomerization reactions of BA were successfully provided in this work.

Investigating a promising iron-doped graphene sensor for SO2 gas: DFT calculations and QTAIM analysis

Examination of a promising iron-doped graphene (FG) sensor for the sulfur oxide (SO2) toxic gas was done in this work at the molecular and atomic scales of density functional theory (DFT). The models were stabilized by performing optimization calculations and their electronic features were evaluated. Two models were obtained by relaxing each of the O or S atoms towards the Fe-doped region of surface. Energy values indicated higher strength for formation of the O@FG model in comparison with the S@FG model. The evaluated quantities and qualities of electronic molecular orbitals indicated the effects of occurrence of adsorption processes on the electronic conductivity property of FG as a required feature of a sensor material. As a consequence, the idea of proposing the investigated FG as a promising sensor of the hazardous SO2 gas was affirmed in this work based on the obtained structural and electronic features.

Interaction of a conical carbon scaffold with the thio-substituted model of fluorouracil towards approaching the drug delivery purposes

A representative FeN4-doped conical carbon (C) scaffold was investigated for participating in interactions with the thio-substituted fluorouracil (SFU) anticancer drug by performing density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In this regard, all possible relaxation configurations of SFU at the doped tip of C scaffold were examined, in which three models were obtained including one horizontal relaxation configuration (FC1) and two vertical relaxation configurations (FC2 and FC3). The results indicate the highest stability and strength for FC1 model. Examining formations and strengths of interactions showed two medium strength interactions in each of FC1, FC2, and FC3 models. Moreover, the evaluated electronic molecular orbitals features indicated availability of sensor function for the proposed C scaffold towards the interacting SFU substance. As a consequence, the models were determined to work in dual functions of sensor and carrier towards drug delivery purpose of SFU anticancer drug.

Catalytic nanoparticles and magnetic nanocatalysts in organic reactions: A mini review

Nanocatalysts, as a part of nanotechnology, have been seen very useful for various fileds of applications capturing a large contribution of the world market. Indeed, several unsolved issues of catalysts have been reconsidered by employing the new nanocatalysts including single core metal atoms and ions with surrounding holes. Moreover, it was expected that the future of catalytic reactions, especially those organic ones, will deal with the nanocatalyst applications. To this aim, the features of catalytic nanoparticles and magnetic nanocatalysts regarding evaluation of their advantages and applications in organic reactions were investigated in this work. Developments of catalytic nanoparticles and magnetic nanocatalysts were discussed in this work regarding the novel applications of such materials at the nanoscale for approaching advantageous features. Increased availability, activity, and stability are very important for applications of the catalysts in various organic reactions. Therefore, it is a must to discuss features of such nanocatalytic systems to provide more information about their advantages and even disadvantages of their applications.

Vismodegib anticancer drug: Analyzing electronic and structural features and examining biological activities

Vismodegib (Vis) is an anticancer drug, in which its electronic and structural features were examined in this work. To this aim, the chlorine atoms of original Vis model were substituted by other fluorine, bromine, and iodine halogen atoms yielding F-Vis, Br-Vis, and I-Vis in addition to the original Cl-Vis model. The models were optimized by performing quantum chemical calculations and their interactions with the smoothened (SMO) target were examined by performing molecular docking simulations. The results indicated that the stabilized structures of halogenated Vis models were achievable and their features indicated the dominant role of halogen atoms for their participation in interactions with other substances. Based on the obtained results, Br-Vis model was seen suitable for participating in interaction with the SMO target even better than the original Vis model. The hypothesis of this work was affirmed by employing the in silico approach for analyzing the features of singular ligands and for evaluating their biological functions.

Investigating fullerene-oxide nanostructure as an adsorbent of ammonia: Complexation efficiency by density functional theory

A model of OC20 fullerene-oxide (FO) was investigated in this work for adsorbing the ammonia (NH3) substance by the hypothesis of formations of bimolecular complexes of the two substances. To affirm such hypothesis, the models of singular NH3 and FO were optimized to reach the minimized energy structures and all possibilities of their interactions configurations were examined. As a consequence, three NH3@FO bimolecular complex models were obtained for reaching the point of complex formations. Details of interactions indicated both direct and indirect contributions of the oxidized region of FO to interactions with both H and N atomic sites of NH3. In this regard, CPLX3 with two types of H. . . O and N. . . C interactions was seen to be at the highest strength of adsorption and complex formation in comparison with CPLX1 and CPLX2 models including only one interaction of each of H. . . O and N. . . C type, respectively. Moreover, the obtained electronic molecular orbital features revealed the sensor function of FO material versus the NH3 substance. As a consequence, the hypothesis of NH3@FO complexes formation was affirmed with two proposed functions of removal and detection for the investigated FO material. All results of this work were obtained by details through performing density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Investigating drug delivery of 5-fluorouracil by assistance of an iron-modified graphene scaffold: Computational studies

This computational work was performed to investigate drug delivery of 5-fluorouracil (FU) anti-cancer by assistance of an iron(Fe)-modified graphene (G) scaffold. The models were optimized to reach the minimized energy structures in both of singular and bimolecular models. Two models of FU@G complex were obtained including O2@G and O4@G by relaxation of FU through O2 and O4 atoms towards the Fe-atom region of G surface. The obtained results of energies indicated a higher stability and strength for the O2@G model in comparison with the O4@G model. The quantitative and qualitative features of electronic molecular orbitals indicated the investigated G surface could work as a carrier of FU by reducing the unwanted side effects and also playing the sensor role. As a final remark of this work, the investigated G model could be proposed for employing in the targeted drug delivery of FU in both of carrier and sensor agents.

Interactions of coumarin derivatives with monoamine oxidase biomarkers: In silico approach

A list of coumarin derivatives (A-P) were investigated in this work for recognizing their reactivity features and their functions towards the monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzyme biomarkers. In this regard, the models showed that he additional of molecular groups to the original scaffold of coumarin could significantly change the reactivity features leading to various tendency for contributing to reactions with other substances. In this case, were varied based on the obtained values of chemical hardness and softness parameters. Subsequently, formations of interacting ligand-target complexes indicated the coumarin derivatives could work as selective substances for interacting with each of MAOA (D) and MAOB (L) enzyme biomarkers, in which a common substance (E) was also observed for formation of interacting complexes with both of MAOA and MAOB targets. As a consequence, the models of coumarin were seen suitable for interacting with the MAO enzyme biomarkers with the purposes of detection and medication. All required information of this work were obtained in the in silico medium.

Structural analysis of an iron-assisted carbon monolayer for delivery of 2-thiouracil

An idea of employing an iron-assisted carbon (FeC) monolayer for delivery of 2-thiouracil (2TU) was examined in this work by analyzing structural features for singular and bimolecular models. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed for optimizing the structures and evaluating molecular and atomic descriptors for analyzing the models systems. Two bimolecular models were obtained assigning by S-FeC and O-FeC models, in which each of S and O atom of 2TU was relaxed towards the Fe region of FeC surface in the mentioned models, respectively. The results indicated that both models were achievable with slightly more favorability for formation of S-FeC model. The obtained molecular orbital properties revealed the dominant role of FeC monolayer for managing future interactions of attached 2TU, which is indeed a major role for employing nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery purposes. In addition to energies and molecular orbital features, atomic quadrupole coupling constants indicated the benefit of employing FeC monolayer for drug delivery of 2TU.

Investigation of H2S Solubility in Aqueous N- Methyldiethanolamine + Amine Functionalized UiO-66 as a nano solvent

In this paper, the experimental solubility of hydrogen sulfide in aqueous N- Methyldiethanolamine + Amine Functionalized UiO-66 (UiO-66-NH2) was studied. UiO-66-NH2 was produced using solvothermal process, and its physicochemical properties were investigated by different techniques including XRD, TGA, TEM, BET, and FTIR to realize its crystalline structure, morphology, thermal stability, and porous structure. The Zeta potential of the solution was turned out to be about 26.6 mV (millivolt), meaning that UiO-66-NH2 particles are moderately stable in aqueous 40 wt.% MDEA. The solubility of hydrogen sulfide has been carried out using the isochoric saturation / or static method in two concentration grades of 0.1 and 0.5 wt.% of UiO-66-NH2 in the aqueous solution of 40 wt.% MDEA known as nanofluid. Experimental measurements were carried out at temperatures of 303.15 through 333.15 K, and pressures up 1100 kPa. Results showed that the addition of UiO-66-NH2 nanoparticles to the MDEA solution altered the results less than 3% , while the mean value of uncertainty reported in this work is about 4% , meaning that the addition of nanoparticles do not have remarkable effect on H2S solubility. In contrast, it causes an increased capacity of CO2 absorption of that solution up to 10% .

Electronic and structural features of uranium-doped graphene: DFT study

Electronic and structural features of uranium-doped models of graphene (UG) were investigated in this work by employing the density functional theory (DFT) approach. Three sizes of models were investigated based on the numbers of surrounding layers around the central U-doped region including UG1, UG2, and UG3. In this regard, stabilized structures were obtained and their electronic molecular orbital features were evaluated, accordingly. The results indicated that the stabilized structures could be obtained, in which their electronic features are indeed size-dependent. The conductivity feature was expected at a higher level for the UG3 model whereas that of the UG1 model was at a lower level. Energy levels of the highest occupied and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) were indeed the evidence of such achievement for electronic conductivity features. As a consequence, the model size of UG could determine its electronic feature providing it for specified applications.

H2O and H2S adsorption by assistance of a heterogeneous carbon-boron-nitrogen nanocage: Computational study

A model of heterogeneous carbon-boron-nitrogen (C-B-N) nanocage was investigated in this work for adsorbing H2O and H2S substances. To achieve this goal, quantum chemical calculations were performed to obtain optimized configurations of substances towards the surface of nanocage. The calculations yielded three possible configurations for relaxing each of substances towards the surface. Formation of acid-base interactions between vacant orbitals of boron atom and full orbitals of each of oxygen and sulfur atoms yielded the strongest complexes of substance-nanocage in comparison with orientation of substances through their hydrogen atoms towards the surface of nanocage. As a consequence, formations of interacting H2O@C-B-N and H2S@C-B-N complexes were achievable, in which mechanism of action showed different strengths for the obtained complexes. Variations of molecular orbital features and corresponding energy gap and Fermi energy for the models before/after adsorption could help for detection of adsorbed substance through a sensor function. And finally, such C-B-N nanocage showed benefit of providing activated surface for efficient adsorption of each of H2O and H2S substance with possibility of differential adsorption regarding the strength of complex formations.

Quantum chemical studies of mercaptan gas detection with calcium oxide nanocluster

The electronic sensitivity and adsorption behavior for mercaptan natural gas of a Ca₁₂O₁₂ nanocluster were studied via ab initio computations. To be more specific, to fully grasp the influence of mercaptan molecules on the chemical and electronic features of Ca₁₂O₁₂ nanocluster, some parameters, namely, charge transfer of natural bond orbital, molecular electrostatic potential, binding energies, and frontier molecular orbitals, are computed. The interaction between CH₄S molecule and calcium atoms of Ca₁₂O₁₂ nanocluster through the sulfur head is strong. This strong interaction leads to a considerable transfer of charge from CH₄S to the nanocluster. After mercaptan adsorption, the existing energy gap between two levels, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of the nanostructure, dropped by 2.21 eV, illustrating that the dissociation process has extensively increased the electrical conductance of nanostructure. This electrical signal can help to detect CH₄S molecules. Moreover, it could be concluded that Ca₁₂O₁₂ nanocluster has a short recovery time. In addition, solvent considerably influences the geometry factors and electronic features of CH₄S/Ca₁₂O₁₂ complexes, and the interactions between species are significantly weaker in the aqueous medium compared with those in the vacuum.

Interactions between favipiravir and a BNC cage towards drug delivery applications

Electronic structure analysis of bimolecular formation of favipiravir (Fav) and a representative model of boron-nitrogen-carbon (BNC) cage was performed in this work for providing more insightful information regarding the drug delivery purposes by the importance of Fav drug for medication of COVID-19. To achieve the purpose of this work, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to obtain the stabilized structures and corresponding molecular and atomic scale descriptors. Six models of BNC-Fav complexes were obtained reading the participation of different atomic positions of Fav to interactions with the BNC cage surface. The results yielded BNC-Fav2 at the highest strength and BNC-Fav4 at the lowest strength of bimolecular formations. Molecular orbital–related features and atomic scale quadrupole coping constants all revealed that BNC-Fav2 complex could be proposed for employing in drug delivery process by managing the loaded Fav contribution to future interactions.

DFT computational study of trihalogenated aniline derivative's adsorption onto graphene/fullerene/fullerene-like nanocages, X12Y12 (X = Al, B, and Y = N, P)

Adsorption of 2,4,6-tribromoaniline (BA), 2,4,6-trifluoroaniline (FA) and 2,4,6-trichloroaniline (CA) onto the surface of coronene/fullerene/fullerene-like nanocages was investigated by theoretical calculations. Due to the adsorption of BA/FA/CA, there are significant changes in chemical descriptors and nonlinear optical properties. Energy gap values of all nanoclusters are lowered, giving an increase in conductivity of complexes except for fullerene. All complex's ultraviolet visible wavenumber is blue-shifted and especially for fullerene complex, the values are very high. The enhancement of Raman intensities shows that it is possible to design a nanocage sensor for detecting these compounds by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS).Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.
