Abstract
Fat accumulation is the hallmark of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Given the intimidating nature of its treatment, curcumin (CUR) emerges as a potential therapeutic agent due to its proven effectiveness in managing MASLD. This review aimed to evaluate previous reports on the hepatoprotective and fat-accumulation-reductive effects of CUR administration in preventing or treating MASLD. CUR administration can modulate serum liver enzymes and lipid profiles. The fat accumulation of MASLD is the primary cause of oxidative stress and inflammation. By reducing fat accumulation, CUR may attenuate the inflammation and oxidative stress in MASLD. In addition, CUR has been proven to restore the dysfunctional cellular energy metabolism capacity and attenuate fibrogenesis (antifibrotic agent). Their hepatoprotective effects are associated with fat accumulation in MASLD. Lipid metabolism (lipogenesis, lipolysis, and lipophagy) is correlated with their hepatoprotective effects. CUR has prophylactic and therapeutic effects, particularly in early-stage MASLD, primarily when it is used as a fat reducer. It can be considered an excellent natural therapeutic drug for MASLD because it protects the liver and attenuates fat accumulation, especially in the early stage of MASLD development.

Abstract
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a prevalent chronic liver condition that is strongly linked to gut microbiota imbalance and chronic inflammation. This study aims to explore the preventive effects of dihydromyricetin (DHM) on NAFLD by modulating the intestinal flora and the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. Fifty male C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to five groups: a normal control group, a model group, and three DHM treatment groups receiving low (500 mg/kg), medium (750 mg/kg), and high doses (1,000 mg/kg). NAFLD was induced using a high-fat diet, and DHM was administered for 8 weeks. ELISA measured serum levels of LPS, IL-1β, and TNF-α, while Western Blot assessed liver expression of TLR4 and NF-κB p65. Changes in intestinal flora composition were analyzed using high-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing. The results showed that DHM treatment significantly reduced serum levels of LPS, IL-1β, and TNF-α, decreasing the liver expression of TLR4 and NF-κB p65. Intestinal flora analysis indicated a notable increase in beneficial bacteria, especially in the medium and high-dose groups. DHM treatment also significantly improved liver pathology, reducing fat deposition and inflammatory cell infiltration. In conclusion, DHM effectively prevents the progression of NAFLD by improving gut microbiota balance and suppressing inflammatory signaling pathways.

Abstract
Obesity is a complex, chronic and inflammatory disease that affects more than one-third of the world's population, leading to a higher incidence of diabetes, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer. Several phytochemicals are used as flavoring and aromatic compounds, also exerting many benefits for public health. This study aims to summarize and scrutinize the beneficial effects of the most important phytochemicals against obesity. Systematic research of the current international literature was carried out in the most accurate scientific databases, e.g., Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar, using a set of critical and representative keywords, such as phytochemicals, obesity, metabolism, metabolic syndrome, etc. Several studies unraveled the potential positive effects of phytochemicals such as berberine, carvacrol, curcumin, quercetin, resveratrol, thymol, etc., against obesity and metabolic disorders. Mechanisms of action include inhibition of adipocyte differentiation, browning of the white adipose tissue, inhibition of enzymes such as lipase and amylase, suppression of inflammation, improvement of the gut microbiota, and downregulation of obesity-inducing genes. In conclusion, multiple bioactive compounds-phytochemicals exert many beneficial effects against obesity. Future molecular and clinical studies must be performed to unravel the multiple molecular mechanisms and anti-obesity activities of these naturally occurring bioactive compounds.

Abstract
The past couple of decades in particular have seen a rapid increase in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), a debilitating metabolic disorder characterised by insulin resistance. The insufficient efficacy of current management strategies for insulin resistance calls for additional therapeutic options. The preponderance of evidence suggests potential beneficial effects of curcumin on insulin resistance, while modern science provides a scientific basis for its potential applications against the disease. Curcumin combats insulin resistance by increasing the levels of circulating irisin and adiponectin, activating PPARγ, suppressing Notch1 signalling, and regulating SREBP target genes, among others. In this review, we bring together the diverse areas pertaining to our current understanding of the potential benefits of curcumin on insulin resistance, associated mechanistic insights, and new therapeutic possibilities. Teaser: Current approaches to manage insulin resistance are not highly efficacious, which necessitates additional therapeutic options; curcumin combats insulin resistance by improving the levels of circulating irisin and adiponectin, upregulating and activating PPARγ, and suppressing Notch‑1 signalling.

Abstract
Lung cancer is a devastating disease with a high incidence and low survival rates, so recent studies have focused on analyzing the risk factors that might prevent this disease from developing or have protective/therapeutic effects. Nutrition is an important key factor in the prevention and treatment of lung cancer. Various factors appear to be involved in the development of the latter, such as cigarette smoking or certain external environmental factors. The increase in oxidative stress is therefore an integral part of the carcinogenesis process. The biological role of bioactive factors derived from adipose tissue, mainly adipokines, is implicated in various cancers, and an increasing body of evidence has shown that certain adipocytokines contribute to the development, progression and prognosis of lung cancer. Not all adipokines stimulate tumor growth; in fact, adiponectin inhibits carcinogenesis by regulating both cell growth and the levels of inflammatory cytokines. Adiponectin expression is deregulated in several cancer types. Many nutritional factors have been shown to increase adiponectin levels and therefore could be used as a new therapeutic strategy for combating lung cancer. In addition, foods with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties play a key role in the prevention of many human diseases, including lung cancer. The purpose of this review is to analyze the role of diet in lung cancer in order to recommend dietary habit and lifestyle changes to prevent or treat this pathology.
