Abstract
A novel sterically demanding bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methane ligand 6 (4-BzhH2 BoxCH2 ) was gained in a straightforward six-step synthesis. Starting from this ligand monomeric [M(4-BzhH2 BoxCH)] (M=Na (7), K (81 )) and dimeric [{M(4-BzhH2 BoxCH)}2 ] (M=K (82 ), Rb (9), Cs (10)) alkali metal complexes were synthesised by deprotonation. Abstraction of the potassium ion of 8 by reaction with 18-crown-6 resulted in the solvent separated ion pair [{(THF)2 K@(18-crown-6)}{bis(4-benzhydryl-benzoxazol-2-yl)methanide}] (11), including the energetically favoured monoanionic (E,E)-(4-BzhH2 BoxCH) ligand. Further reaction of 4-BzhH2 BoxCH2 with three equivalents KH and two equivalents 18-crown-6 yielded polymeric [{(THF)2 K@(18-crown-6)}{K@(18-crown-6)K(4-Bzh BoxCH)}]n (n→∞) (12) containing a trianionic ligand. The neutral ligand and herein reported alkali complexes were characterised by single X-ray analyses identifying the latter as a promising precursor for low-valent main group complexes.

Abstract
A novel bulky bis(4,6-tBu-benzoxazol-2-yl)methane ligand was synthesized in a straightforward three-step synthesis. The corresponding complexes [Li{(4,6-tBu-NCOC6 H2 )2 CH}THF], [K{η5 -(4,6-tBu-NCOC6 H2 )2 CH}]∞ , and [MgCl{(4,6-tBu-NCOC6 H2 )2 CH}(THF)2 ] were obtained upon metalation with alkaline or alkaline-earth-metal reagents. Reduction of [MgCl{(4,6-tBu-NCOC6 H2 )2 CH}(THF)2 ] with potassium metal or KC8 led to the formation of the homoleptic compound [Mg{(4,6-tBu-NCOC6 H2 )2 CH}2 ]. All compounds were fully characterized. Their solid-state structures as well as their behavior in solution, which was analyzed with the help of advanced NMR spectroscopic techniques, are discussed in detail.

Abstract
The vibrational frequencies of acetophenone thiosemicarbazone in the ground state have been calculated using density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G(d), 6-31G(d,p) and 6-311++G(d,p) basis sets. The analysis of natural bond orbital was also performed. The IR spectra were obtained and interpreted by means of potential energies distributions (PEDs) using MOLVIB program. In addition, the results show that there exist N-H…N and N-H…S hydrogen bonds in the title compound, which play a major role in stabilizing the molecule and are confirmed by the natural bond orbital analysis. The predicted NLO properties show that the title compound is a good candidate as second-order NLO material. In addition, the frontier molecular orbitals were analyzed and the crystal structure obtained by molecular mechanics belongs to the Pbca space group, with lattice parameters Z=8, a=16.0735 Å, b=7.1719 Å, c=7.8725 Å, ρ=0.808 g/cm(3).

Abstract
Quantum chemical calculations of energies, geometries, and vibrational wavenumbers of 1,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one (C17H16O3) in the ground state were carried out by the using ab initio Hartree−Fock and density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) methods with the 6-311++G** basis set. The difference between the observed and scaled wavenumber values of most of the fundamentals is very small. Theoretical vibrational spectra of the title compound were interpreted by means of potential energies distributions. The theoretical spectrograms for IR spectra of the title compound have been constructed. The analysis of natural bond orbitals shows that the intramolecular hyperconjugative interactions are formed by the orbital overlap between π*(C–C) and π(C–C) bond orbitals, which results in intramolecular charge transfer causing stabilization of the system. The predicted nonlinear optical properties of the title compound are much larger than those of urea. In addition, the analysis of frontier molecular orbitals shows that the title compound has good stability and high chemical hardness.

Abstract
This paper provides a short introduction to the basics of electron density investigations. The two predominant approaches for the modelling and various interpretations of electron density distributions are presented. Their potential translations into chemical concepts are explained. The focus of the article lies on the deduction of chemical properties from charge density studies in some selected main group compounds. The relationship between the obtained numerical data and commonly accepted simple chemical concepts unfortunately is not always straightforward, and often the chemist relies on heuristic connections rather than rigorously defined ones. This article tries to demonstrate how charge density analyses can shed light on aspects of chemical bonding and reactivity resulting from the determined bonding situation. Sometimes this helps to identify misconceptions and sets the scene for new unconventional synthetic approaches.

Abstract
The vibrational frequencies of three substituted 4-thioflavones in the ground state have been calculated using the Hartree-Fock and density functional method (B3LYP) with 6-31G* and 6-31+G** basis sets. The structural analysis shows that there exists H-bonding in the selected compounds and the hydrogen bond lengths increase with the augment of the conjugate parameters of the substituent group on the benzene ring. A complete vibrational assignment aided by the theoretical harmonic wavenumber analysis was proposed. The theoretical spectrograms for FT-IR spectra of the title compounds have been constructed. In addition, it is noted that the selected compounds show significant activity against Shigella flexniri. Several electronic properties and thermodynamic parameters were also calculated.

The theoretical geometrical parameters in the ground state have been investigated by density functional method (B3LYP and BLYP) with 6-311G(d,p) basis set. The influence of intermolecular interactions effects on molecular properties has been considered by calculation performed on (OATA) dimer. The optimized geometric bond lengths and bond angles are in well agreement with the experimental data. As compared to theoretical frequencies of the monomer, the calculated values obtained for (OATA) dimer are in much better agreement with the experiment. All experimental vibrational bands have been discussed and assigned to normal modes on the basis of our theoretical calculations. B3LYP method has shown better fit to experimental ones than BLYP in calculation vibrational frequencies. To investigate nonlinear optical behaviour, the electric dipole moment mu, the polarizability alpha and the hyperpolarizability beta were computed using DFT//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) method.

Abstract
Quantum chemistry calculations have been performed using Gaussian03 program to compute optimized geometry, harmonic vibrational frequency along with intensities in IR and Raman spectra and atomic charges at RHF/6-31+G*, B3LYP/6-31+G* and B3LYP/6-31++G* levels for 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT, C(7)H(5)NS(2)) and 2-mercaptobenzoxazole (MBO, C(7)H(5)NOS) in the ground state. The scaled harmonic vibrational frequencies have been compared with experimental FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra. The results show that the scaled theoretical vibrational frequencies is very good agreement with the experimental values. A detailed interpretation of the infrared and Raman spectra of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and 2-mercaptobenzoxazole was reported. Comparison of calculated spectra with the experimental spectra provides important information about the ability of the computational method to describe the vibrational modes.
