Abstract
Aquatic environments, including marine and freshwater ecosystems, are vital for ecological balance and biodiversity. The rising global demand for aquaculture products necessitates increased production, with intensified aquaculture practices posing significant environmental risks. This review explores the pathways through which chemical pollutants, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental stressors induce teratogenic effects in aquatic species. The review highlights the impact of pesticide include triazine herbicides, organophosphate and organochlorine insecticides, and carbamates on aquatic life, emphasizing their interference with endocrine systems and developmental processes. Heavy metals like mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, and chromium are noted for their persistence and bioaccumulative properties, disrupting cellular and hormonal functions. Pharmaceuticals, including NSAIDs, antibiotics, and chemotherapeutic agents, exert teratogenic effects by disrupting physiological and developmental pathways. Environmental stressors includes temperature fluctuations, salinity variations, pH changes, and oxygen level imbalances exacerbate the teratogenic impact of pollutants. This review highlights the importance of comprehensive environmental management and understanding these complex interactions is essential for formulating efficient strategies to safeguard the effective measures to protect aquatic ecosystems and the biodiversity.

Abstract
The main objectives of this study were to determine the mercury concentration in four species of valuable and widely consumed fish from the Caspian Sea, to assess the health risk due to their consumption. The average mercury concentrations for Chelon saliens, Chelon auratus, Acipenser persicus and Acipenser stellatus were 32.72, 39.51, 166.87 and 81.87 μg g-1 dw, respectively. There were correlations between the mercury concentrations in the muscle of Chelon saliens and morphological parameters, but these correlations were not observed in Chelon auratus. Our comparison of the mercury values obtained in all the samples with the recommended international standards, as well as the Hazard Quotients values, indicated that there is no potential risk for the health of consumers due to exposure to mercury from consuming these fish.

Abstract
In the present study, lead, zinc and copper concentrations in the feathers of Common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), Eurasian magpie (Pica pica), Common buzzard (Buteo buteo), Crested lark (Galerida cristata), Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops), Little owl (Athene noctua), Long-eared owl (Asio otus), Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) and Long-legged buzzard (Buteo rufinus) from Sabzevar and Neghab, Khorasan Razavi of Iran were measured. Almost all of the specimens were obtained from birds that had collided with vehicles or were unable to fly. There were no significant differences in metal concentrations between adult and juvenile, diurnal and nocturnal raptors and species with different diets. Elemental concentrations were lower than toxicity threshold values, so exposure to these elements does not appear to pose a health risk to the studied species. It should be noted that this study was the first study of metals in Galerida cristata, Asio otus and Buteo rufinus.

Abstract
Due to the importance of Caspian kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) in the nutrition and health of consumers, a study was conducted to evaluate the concentration of mercury and its associated health risk for this species, its predators, and the people. Samples were collected from the fish at the four best-selling stations, Bandar Torkaman, Bander Anzali, Fereydunkenar, and Chalos, with mean mercury concentrations in the samples from the stations being 49.4, 132.6, 103.6, and 107.6 μg/g respectively. Mercury in the muscle tissue of the collected samples increased from east to west in the southern Caspian Basin. The mercury concentrations at all stations were below the permissible international levels for this heavy metal, suggesting no or low potential health risk. However, due to the toxicity and other harmful properties of mercury, it is necessary to monitor the values of this element as well as other pollutants in fish species to assess the health risk.
