Abstract
INTRODUCTION Burkitt lymphoma is a highly aggressive Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, is considered a rare tumor, accounts for only 1-2 % of adult lymphomas in North America. The two-year Overall survival rates was reported between 67 % and 84 %. Statistics from developing countries comes mainly from children studies in Africa where Burkitt Lymphoma is endemic. In Latin American countries, information about survival in adult population is scarce with limited number of patients and poor survival outcomes mainly in HIV associated Burkitt Lymphoma. The aim of this study is to evaluate survival in adults' patients with BL, and HIV status in a Colombian cohort. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective cohort study was conducted to determine the demographic characteristics, treatment, and survival of adult Burkitt Lymphoma patients in Colombia. The study included adult patients diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma between 2004 and 2023, and calculate Overall survival and progression free survival of the population, and according to HIV status RESULTS: 83 patients were included for analysis with 49 (59 %) patients with a sporadic variant and 34 (41 %) with an immunodeficiency-associated variant. The median age at diagnosis was 40 years, IQR (30 - 52), The 36-months OS was 49.9 % (95 % CI; 39.6 - 62.9 %)), and 36-months PFS was 51.5 % (95 % CI¸41.5 - 64.5). For HIV patients 36-months OS was 41 % (95 % CI; 26.7 - 62.7 %) and 59.2 % (95 % CI; 45.8 - 76.6 %) HIV negative HR 1.72 (95 % CI; 0.93 - 1.19 (p = 0.08). CONCLUSION this study suggests an OS survival inferior than reported for developed countries with inferior survival rates in HIV patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE Improving cancer outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) requires effective implementation of evidence-based strategies. This scoping review maps the evidence on lymphoma epidemiology, treatment challenges, and patient pathways in SSA from 2011 to 2022. METHODS A comprehensive three-step search was conducted without language restrictions. RESULTS Eighty-four publications were included, 83% published after 2017. Southern and Eastern Africa led in output. Most studies were chart reviews (47.6%) and cohort studies (25%). NHL accounted for over 80% of cases, with an age-standardized rate (ASR) reaching 10.9/100,000, while HL had an ASR of 0.4-2.3/100,000. Compared to studies in Europe and US, SSA studies reported lower incidence rates, higher HIV comorbidity, and younger median ages. Diagnosis is often delayed, incomplete and lacks sub-classification with HIV and tuberculosis further complicating care. One-year survival rates are around 50% for NHL and over 75% for HL. Treatment is well-tolerated with an acceptable treatment-related mortality rate. However, outcomes are affected by diagnostic delays, late presentations, and treatment abandonment. Non-clinical aspects of care such as financial constraints negatively impact patient pathways. CONCLUSION Addressing diagnostic delays, misdiagnosis, and treatment abandonment is crucial. Strengthening care access, diagnostics, and integrating innovative strategies including a multidisciplinary approach and re-designing efficient clinical diagnostic pathways are vital.

Abstract
Burkitt lymphoma is a mature aggressive B-cell neoplasm with distinctive clinical and morphologic features, a germinal center B-cell immunophenotype, a high proliferation index and MYC rearrangement with an immunoglobulin gene partner. Initially described in equatorial Africa by a surgeon, Denis Burkitt, African (endemic) Burkitt lymphoma was the first neoplasm shown to be associated with a virus, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and the first neoplasm shown to be associated with a chromosomal translocation, IGH::MYC. In this article, we provide a brief historical introduction of Burkitt lymphoma, followed by a review of all aspects of this neoplasm including pathogenesis, clinical presentation, morphology, immunophenotype, cytogenetics and molecular findings. We also provide recent updates of this entity, including advances in our understanding of molecular pathogenesis of Burkitt lymphoma and the recent proposal in the current World Health Organization classification that the traditional epidemiologic variants of Burkitt lymphoma are better replaced by presence or absence of EBV infection. We also discuss the differential diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma and how this neoplasm can be distinguished from reactive conditions and other aggressive B-cell lymphomas/leukemias. Given its very rapid growth and the unique treatment approach employed to treat these patients, it is important to recognize Burkitt lymphoma to facilitate appropriate therapy.

Abstract
Combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) has improved outcomes for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) associated non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This is an analysis of 127 patients with HIV with Burkitt lymphoma (HIV-BL) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (HIV-DLBCL) treated at the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University over a 17-year period during the ART and rituximab era. The median CD4 count for the cohorts was 0.141 × 109/L (range, 0.001-0.861 × 109/L). DA-EPOCH ± R (54%) were most commonly used in HIV-BL. CHOP± R (42%) was most commonly used to treat HIV-DLBCL. The complete response rate after first-line curative therapy was 10/28 (36%) in HIV-BL and 25/57 (44%) in HIV-DLBCL. The 2-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) for the HIV-BL cohort was 50% and 41% respectively. The 2-year PFS and OS for the HIV-DLBCL cohort was 55% and 47% respectively. Current China practice favours the treatment of HIV-BL and HIV-DLBCL similarly to the HIV-negative population with the use of concurrent ART. However, due to the extremely low percentage of patients receiving ART prior to the lymphoma diagnosis, the high percentage of patients with poor performance status, and the advanced stage at diagnosis, the treatment of HIV-related lymphoma remains the major challenge in China.

Abstract
Medical professionals, particularly in regions with a high burden of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), should be alert to the hematological complications of HIV, which may include cytopenias, malignancy, and coagulation disturbances. Patients may present with these conditions as the first manifestation of HIV infection. Hematological abnormalities are often multifactorial with opportunistic infections, drugs, malignancy, and HIV infection itself contributing to the clinical presentation, and the diagnosis should consider all these factors. Life-threatening hematological complications requiring urgent diagnosis and management include thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, superior mediastinal syndrome, spinal cord compression, and tumor lysis syndrome due to aggressive lymphoma. Antiretroviral therapy is the therapeutic backbone, including for patients with advanced HIV, in addition to specific therapy for the complication. This article reviews the impact of HIV on the hematological system and provides a clinical and diagnostic approach, including the role of a bone marrow biopsy, focusing on perspectives from sub-Saharan Africa.

Abstract
Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a global health concern with major risks for opportunistic infections and predisposition to malignancies including Kaposi sarcoma associated with Human Herpes Virus-8 (HHV-8) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) commonly associated with Epstein Barr Virus (EBV). Although the exact mechanisms of predisposition to certain malignancies are unclear, HIV (+) cancer patients typically have poorer prognosis. Materials and Methods: We included all five HIV positive NHL patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) and chemotherapy in our clinic and aim to determine their follow-up outcomes associated with ART. Results: The use of ART in conjunction with chemotherapy regimens lead to better therapeutic outcome in our cases with no mortality over three years of follow-up despite high rates of poor prognostic factors and studies demonstrating 1-year survival rates of approximately 30% in HIV-associated lymphoma. No significant adverse effect has been recorded. Conclusion: We recommend use of ART along with chemotherapy regimens in HIV positive lymphoma patients for better treatment response.
