Abstract
Background Obesity is widely recognized for its role in predisposing individuals to a spectrum of chronic health conditions. Emerging preliminary evidence points to the potential benefits of low-frequency transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (Lo-TENS) in enhancing various health outcomes among those with obesity and associated disorders. Objective This systematic review was designed to assess the effectiveness of Lo-TENS for managing obesity and its related chronic diseases. Methods For this systematic review, we included randomized controlled trials that evaluated the impact of Lo-TENS on individuals with obesity and its associated chronic diseases. Results Eight trials encompassing 671 participants and spanning three unique populations: essential hypertension (EH), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and obesity were deemed eligible for inclusion in this review. Compared to baseline measurements, Lo-TENS demonstrated a tendency to positively affect blood pressure in individuals with EH and metabolic parameters in those with T2DM. Nonetheless, the efficacy of Lo-TENS in treating obesity is not yet clear when contrasted with a no-intervention control group. When compared with other intervention modalities, three of the trials reported less favorable results. Conclusions Although Lo-TENS did not consistently surpass other treatments or yield substantial improvements, it generally provided greater benefits than the majority of placebo controls. This suggests that Lo-TENS could potentially serve as a beneficial adjunctive therapy in the management of obesity and its associated conditions. However, given the limited number of trials assessed, the elevated risk of bias within these studies, and the scarce evidence currently available, it is too early to reach definitive conclusions. Caution should be exercised when interpreting the current findings. There is an imperative for further high-quality research to thoroughly investigate and substantiate the efficacy of Lo-TENS in relation to obesity and its related disorders.

Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of the combination of elastic band resistance exercise (EBRE) with modified Thai yoga on the alleviation of blood glucose and oxidative stress in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Forty-two patients with T2DM were enrolled and allocated to an exercise or control group (n=21/group). The exercise group participated in EBRE combination with modified Thai yoga for 40 min, 5 days/wk, for 12 consecutive weeks. Blood glucose, oxidative stress markers, antioxidants, pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and airway inflammation were measured before and after the 12 weeks. The results showed that the exercise group had a significant reduction in fasting blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin. Moreover, T2DM patients in the exercise group showed a significant reduction in plasma malondialdehyde, while superoxide dismutase and catalase were significantly increased. The exercise group also observed a significant improvement in pulmonary function; forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), FEV1/FVC, peak expiratory flow, and forced midexpiratory flow as well as respiratory muscle strength. Interestingly, the combination of EBRE with modified Thai yoga markedly improved airway inflammation through the reduction in fractional exhaled nitric oxide. In conclusion, these findings suggest that the combination of EBRE with modified Thai yoga improves blood glucose, oxidative stress, antioxidants, pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and airway inflammation in T2DM patients. Hence, it could be considered as a possible exercise program for T2DM patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Recommendations from clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) may be inconsistent, and little is known about their quality. Our aim in this study was to systematically review the consistency of globally available CPGs containing nutritional recommendations for T2DM and to assess the quality of their methodology and reporting. METHODS PubMed, China Biology Medicine and 4 main guideline websites were searched. Four researchers independently assessed quality of the methodology and reporting using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation, second edition (AGREE II) instrument and the Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in HealThcare (RIGHT) checklist. RESULTS Fifteen CPGs include 65 nutritional recommendations with 6 sections: 1) body weight and energy balance; 2) dietary eating patterns; 3) macronutrients; 4) micronutrients and supplements; 5) alcohol; and 6) specific, functional foods. Current nutritional recommendations for individuals with T2DM on specific elements and amounts are not completely consistent in different CPGs and fail to assign the specific supporting evidence and strength of recommendations. To use nutritional recommendations to guide and manage individuals with T2DM, it is important to address the current challenges by establishing a solid evidence base and indicating the strength of recommendations. Overall, 8 CPGs classified as recommended for clinical practice used AGREE II. Fifteen CPGs adhere to <60% of RIGHT checklist items. CONCLUSIONS High-quality evidence is needed to potentially close knowledge gaps and strengthen the recommendation. The AGREE II instrument, along with the RIGHT checklist, should be endorsed and used by CPG developers to ensure higher quality and adequate use of their products.

Abstract
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use has several potential positive effects on diabetes management. These benefits are, e.g., increased time in range (TIR), optimized therapy, and developed documentation. Physical activity is a recommended intervention tool in diabetes management, especially for people with type 2 diabetes (T2D). The benefits of physical activity for people with diabetes can be seen as an improvement of glycemic control, glycemic variability, and the reduction of insulin resistance. In relation to the physical activity of people with T2D, the benefits of CGM use can even be increased, and CGM can be a helpful tool to prevent adverse events due to physical activity of people with diabetes, such as hypoglycemic events and nocturnal hypoglycemia after sports. This narrative review aims to provide solid recommendations for the use of CGM in everyday life physical activities based on the noted benefits and to give a general overview of the guidelines on physical activity and CGM use for people with diabetes.

Abstract
This study was carried out to evaluate sensitivity, specificity, and test cutoff score to predict cardiorespiratory fitness by using the 2-min step test (2MST) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellites (DM). The association of the 2MST and physical fitness tests including a 6-min walk test (6MWT), a 5 time sit-to-stand test (FTSST), and leg strength in the form of a leg performance test were also investigated. This study was cross-sectional and conducted in 100 type 2 DM patients. Patients were screened through health questionnaires, medical illness, general characteristics, and physical fitness tests; 2MST, 6MWT, FTSST, and leg strength. Blood was collected for assessment of fasting blood sugar and lipid profiles. The number of steps in the 2MST was positively correlated with the distance of the 6MWT (r=0.6995, P<0.0001) and leg strength (r=0.4292, P<0.0001). 2MST was negatively correlated with time to perform the FTSST (r=−0.405, P<0.0001). Moreover, this study established the optimal cutoff score of the 2MST at ≤61 steps with 92.24% sensitivity, and 81.36% specificity to predict cardiorespiratory fitness in type 2 DM patients. Our findings indicate that the 2MST may be used as a predictor for walking capacity, leg strength, and ability to change position from sitting to standing in type 2 DM. In addition, this result may imply that patients with type 2 DM performing the 2MST at less than 61 steps was significantly associated with decreased cardiorespiratory fitness.
