Abstract
Optical temperature sensors based on self-referenced readout schemes such as the emission ratio and the decay time are crucial for a wide range of applications, with the former often preferred due to simplicity of instrumentation. This work describes a new group of dually emitting dyes, platinum(II) pincer complexes, that can be used directly for ratiometric temperature sensing without an additional reference material. They consist of Pt(II) metal center surrounded by a pyridinedipyrrolide ligand (PDP) and a terminal ligand (benzonitrile, pyridine, 1-butylimidazol or carbon monoxide). Upon excitation with blue light, these complexes exhibit green to orange emission, with quantum yields in anoxic toluene at 25 °C ranging from 13% to 86% and decay times spanning from 8.5 to 97 μs. The emission is attributed to simultaneous thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) and phosphorescence processes on the basis of photophysical investigations and DFT calculations. Rather uniquely, simple manipulations in substituents of the PDP ligand and alteration of the terminal ligand allow fine-tuning of the ratio between TADF and phosphorescence from almost 100% TADF emission (Pt(MesPDPC6F5(BN)) to over 80% of phosphorescence (Pt(PhPDPPh(BuIm)). Apart from ratiometric capabilities, the complexes also are useful as decay time-based temperature indicators with temperature coefficients exceeding 1.5% K-1 in most cases. Immobilization of the dyes into oxygen-impermeable polyacrylonitrile produces temperature sensing materials that can be read out with an ordinary RGB camera or a smartphone. In addition, Pt(PhPDPPh)Py can be incorporated into biocompatible RL100 nanoparticles suitable for cellular nanothermometry, as we demonstrate with temperature measurements in multicellular colon cancer spheroids.

Imidazolium-Modified Silica Gel for Highly Selective Preconcentration of Ag(I) from the Nitric Acid Medium. CHEMISTRY 2022. Abstract
The ion-exchange behavior of an organomineral material with an imidazolium (1-methyl-3-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide)-modified silica gel was studied for the extraction of Ag(I) from nitric acid media. The extraction from multicomponent systems containing Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Pb(II), and Mn(II) in 100- and 1000-fold molar excesses with respect to Ag(I) was shown to occur with high selectivity. Based on the data of X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy for samples of modified silica gel, a mixed ion exchange–adsorption mechanism for the extraction of Ag(I) was proposed. The effect of the phase contact time and the concentration of nitric acid on the distribution coefficient of Ag(I) was studied. The selectivity factors of the extraction of Ag(I) from multicomponent systems containing foreign cations in 100- and 1000-fold molar excesses under steady-state and dynamic concentration conditions were calculated.

Abstract
Two square-planar high-spin FeII complexes bearing a dianionic pyridine dipyrrolate pincer ligand and a diethyl ether or tetrahydrofuran ligand were synthesized and structurally characterized, and their electronic structures were elucidated by a combined spectroscopic and computational approach. In contrast to previous examples, the S = 2 ground states of these square-planar FeII complexes do not require an overall anionic charge of the compounds or incorporation of alkali metal cations. The tetrahydrofuran complex exhibits an equilibrium between four- and five-coordinate species in solution, which was supported by 1H NMR and 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and comparison to a structurally characterized five-coordinate pyridine dipyrrolate iron bis-pyridine adduct. A detailed computational analysis of the electronic structures of the four- and five-coordinate species via density functional theory provides insight into the origins of the unusual ground state configurations for FeII in a square-planar ligand field and explains the associated characteristic spectroscopic parameters.

Abstract
We have developed a facile and highly sensitive sorbent for cadmium and lead ions. It is based on Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles functionalized with a derivative of picoline and was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, differential thermographic analysis, and elemental analysis. The material can be applied to the preconcentration of lead and cadmium ions. Factors such as the type, concentration and volume of eluent, the pH of the sample solution, the time for extraction, and the volume of the sample were studied. The effects of a variety of ions on preconcentration and recovery of these ions were also investigated. The ions were determined by FAAS, and the limits of detection are <0.8 and <0.061 μg L⁻¹ for lead and cadmium, respectively. Recoveries and precisions are >98.0 % and <1.3 %, respectively. The method was validated by analyzing several certified leaf reference materials.
