Abstract
Conventional methods for detecting unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) pose challenges for rapid analyses due to the need for complex pretreatment and expensive instruments. Here, we developed an intelligent platform for facile and low-cost analysis of UFAs by combining a smartphone-assisted colorimetric sensor array (CSA) based on MnO2 nanozymes with "image segmentation-feature extraction" deep learning (ISFE-DL). Density functional theory predictions were validated by doping experiments using Ag, Pd, and Pt, which enhanced the catalytic activity of the MnO2 nanozymes. A CSA mimicking mammalian olfactory system was constructed with the principle that UFAs competitively inhibit the oxidization of the enzyme substrate, resulting in color changes in the nanozyme-ABTS substrate system. Through linear discriminant analysis coupled with the smartphone App "Quick Viewer" that utilizes multihole parallel acquisition technology, oleic acid (OA), linoleic acid (LA), α-linolenic acid (ALA), and their mixtures were clearly discriminated; various edible vegetable oils, different camellia oils (CAO), and adulterated CAOs were also successfully distinguished. Furthermore, the ISFE-DL method was combined in multicomponent quantitative analysis. The sensing elements of the CSA (3 × 4) were individually segmented for single-hole feature extraction containing information from 38,868 images of three UFAs, thereby allowing for the extraction of more features and augmenting sample size. After training with the MobileNetV3 small model, the determination coefficients of OA, LA, and ALA were 0.9969, 0.9668, and 0.7393, respectively. The model was embedded in the smartphone App "Intelligent Analysis Master" for one-click quantification. We provide an innovative approach for intelligent and efficient qualitative and quantitative analysis of UFAs and other compounds with similar characteristics.

Abstract
This review will unveil the development of a new generation of electrochemical sensors utilizing a transition-metal-oxide-based nanocomposite with varying morphology. There has been considerable discussion on the role of transition metal oxide-based nanocomposite, including iron, nickel, copper, cobalt, zinc, platinum, manganese, conducting polymers, and their composites, in electrochemical and biosensing applications. Utilizing these materials to detect glucose and hydrogen peroxide selectively and sensitively with the correct chemical functionalization is possible. These transition metals and their oxide nanoparticles offer a potential method for electrode modification in sensors. Nanotechnology has made it feasible to develop nanostructured materials for glucose and H2O2 biosensor applications. Highly sensitive and selective biosensors with a low detection limit can detect biomolecules at nanomolar to picomolar (10-9 to 10-12 molar) concentrations to assess physiological and metabolic parameters. By mixing carbon-based materials (graphene oxide) with inorganic nanoparticles, nanocomposite biosensor devices with increased sensitivity can be made using semiconducting nanoparticles, quantum dots, organic polymers, and biomolecules.

Abstract
Fluorescence analysis has attracted much attention due to its rapidity and sensitivity. The present work describes a novel fluorescence detection method for acid phosphatase (ACP) on the basis of inner-filter effect (IFE), where MnO2 nanosheets (MnO2 NSs) and vitamin B2 (VB2) are served as absorbers and fluorophores, respectively. In the absence of ACP, the absorption band of MnO2 NSs overlaps well with the excitation band of VB2, resulting in effective IFE and inhibition of VB2 fluorescence. In the presence of ACP, 2-phospho-L-ascorbic acid trisodium salt (AAP) is hydrolyzed to generate ascorbic acid (AA), which efficiently trigger the reduction of MnO2 NSs into Mn2+ ions, causing the weakening of the MnO2 NSs absorption band and the recovery of VB2 fluorescence. Further investigation indicates that the fluorescence recovery degree of VB2 increases with the increase of ACP concentration. Under selected experimental conditions, the proposed method can achieve sensitive detection of ACP in the ranges of 0.5-4.0 mU/mL and 4.0-15 mU/mL along with a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 0.14 mU/mL. Finally, this method was successfully applied for the detection of ACP in human serum samples with satisfactory recoveries in the range of 95.0 %-108 %.

Abstract
The devising and development of numerous enzyme mimics, particularly nanoparticles and nanomaterials (nanozymes), have been sparked by the inherent limitations imposed by natural enzymes. Peroxidase is one of the enzymes that is extensively utilized in commercial, medical, and biological applications because of its outstanding substrate selectivity. Herein, we present palladium nanoparticles grafted on Artocarpus heterophyllus (jackfruit) seed-derived biochar (BC-AHE@Pd) as a novel nanozyme to imitate peroxidase activity en route to the rapid and colorimetric detection of H2O2, exploiting o-phenylenediamine as a peroxidase substrate. The biogenically generated BC-AHE@Pd nanocatalyst was synthesized utilizing Artocarpus heterophyllus seed extract as the reducing agent for nanoparticle formation, while the residue became the source for biochar. Various analytical techniques like FT-IR, GC-MS, FE-SEM, EDS, TEM, SAED pattern, p-XRD, and ICP-OES, were used to characterize the BC-AHE@Pd nanocatalyst. The intrinsic peroxidase-like activity of the BC-AHE@Pd nanocatalyst was extended as a prospective nanosensor for the estimation of the biomolecules glucose and glutathione. Moreover, the BC-AHE@Pd nanocatalyst showed recyclability up to three recycles without any significant loss in activity.

Abstract
Fluorescence-based visual assays have sparked tremendous attention in on-site detection due to their obvious color gradient changes and high sensitivity. In this study, a novel emission wavelength shift-based visual sensing platform is constructed to detect glucose based on the oxidation of Rhodamine B (RhB). MnO2 nanosheets (MnO2 NS) with strong oxidizing properties were introduced to oxidize RhB, which resulted in a blue shift in the emission wavelength, and a visual color changed of the fluorescence from orange-red to green. The oxidation reaction could be inhibited via reducing and destroying MnO2 NS by H2O2, which was produced by the oxidizing procedure of glucose in the presence of glucose oxidase (GOx). A series of wavelength shifts and fluorescence color variations appeared with the addition of various amounts of glucose. A ratiometric fluorescence glucose sensor with a lowest recorded concentration of 0.25 μM was developed. Meanwhile, test paper-based assays integrated with the smartphone platform were established for the sensing of glucose by means of the significant fluorescence color changes, offering a reliable, sensitive, and portable on-site assay of glucose.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nucleic acid is the carrier of genetic information and the keymolecule in life science. It is important to establish a simple and feasible method for nucleic acid quantification in complex biological samples. METHODS Four kinds of hydrogen bond acceptors (choline chloride (ChCl), L-carnitine, tetrabutylammonium chloride (TBAC) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)) were used to synthesize deep eutectic solvents (DESs) with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP). DESs based manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanosheets composites was synthesized and characterized. DNA concentration was determined by a UVVis spectrometer. The mechanism of DNA-DES/MnO2 colorimetric system was further discussed. RESULTS The composite composed of DES/MnO2 exhibited excellent oxidase-like activity and could oxidize 3,3',5,5' -tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to produce a clear blue change with an absorbance maximum at 652 nm. When DNA is introduced, the DNA can interact with the DES by hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, thereby inhibiting the color reaction of DES/MnO2 with TMB. After condition optimization, ChCl/HFIP DES in 1:3 molar ratio was used for the colorimetric method of DNA determination. The linear range of DNA was 10-130 µg/mL and exhibited good selectivity. CONCLUSION A colorimetric method based on DES/MnO2 was developed to quantify the DNA concentration. The proposed method can be successfully used to quantify DNA in bovine serum samples.

Abstract
In this study, graphite rod (GR) electrodes were electrochemically modified by dendritic gold nanostructures (DGNs) followed by immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOx) in the presence of mediator phenazine methosulfate (PMS). Modified with polyaniline (PANI) or polypyrrole (Ppy), GOx/DGNs/GR electrodes were used in glucose biosensor design. Different electrochemical methods were applied for the registration of glucose concentration, and constant potential amperometry (CPA) was chosen as the best one. PANI and Ppy layers synthesized enzymatically on the GOx/DGNs/GR electrodes extended the linear glucose determination range, the width of which depended on the duration of PANI- and Ppy-layers formation. Enzymatically formed polypyrrole was determined as the most suitable polymer for the modification and formation of the glucose biosensor instead of polyaniline, because it was 1.35 times more sensitive and had a 2.57 times lower limit of detection (LOD). The developed glucose biosensor based on the Ppy/GOx/DGNs/GR electrode was characterized by appropriate sensitivity (59.4 μA mM−1 cm−2), low LOD (0.070 mmol L−1), wide linear glucose determination range (up to 19.9 mmol L−1), good repeatability (8.01%), and appropriate storage stability (33 days). The performance of the developed glucose biosensor was tested in biological samples and beverages.

Abstract
In this study, a simple, eco-friendly and low-cost approach was used to fabricate silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from an aqueous extract of Gleditsia australis (GA) fruit. The nanoparticles synthesized in the optimal condition have an average size of 14 nm. The peroxidase-like activity of GA-AgNP in the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in combination with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was investigated. Further, optimal conditions for the use of peroxidase-like catalytic activity in sensing applications were identified. The colourimetric detection of H2O2 showed a linear range of 1-8 mM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.34 mM. The oxidation of TMB (red-TMB) enables the detection of glucose, which is converted into H2O2 and gluconic acid in the presence of the enzyme glucose oxidase. The observations showed linearity from 0.05 to 1.5 mM with a LOD of 0.038 mM. Moreover, the blue colour of oxidized TMB (ox-TMB) was reduced according to ascorbic acid (AA) concentration, with a linear range of 0.03-0.14 mM and a LOD of 3.0 μM. The practical use of the sensing system for the detection of AA was studied using real fruit juice and showed good sensitivity. Hence, the easy-to-use peroxidase-like sensor provides a new platform for the detection of bioactive compounds in biological systems.

Abstract
The optical sensor with ratiometric and turn-off dual modes is constructed to detect H2O2 and glucose based on blue fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) and MnO2 nanosheets with great ability of fluorescence quenching and scattering. Employing CDs@MnO2 nanosheets nanocomposite as the probe, H2O2 is detected by simultaneously collecting first-order scattering (FOS, 353.5 nm), fluorescence (440 nm), and second-order scattering (SOS, 710 nm) under the excitation of 350 nm. H2O2 with strong oxidation property can etch the lamellar structure of MnO2 nanosheets into nano-fragments, which made the fluorescence of CDs in the system recover and the scattering intensity (FOS and SOS) of the system decrease significantly. Therefore, the optical sensor combined FOS and fluorescence signals in ratiometric mode, and SOS signal in turn-off mode to realize sensitive determination of H2O2. The linear ranges of ratiometric mode and turn-off mode for H2O2 detection were 0.2-40 and 0.2-15 μM, respectively. And the limits of detection (LODs) of two modes were 73 and 104 nM, respectively. Furthermore, the sensor was also successfully applied to the detection of glucose which can react to produce H2O2. Satisfactorily, the LODs of this sensor for glucose detection were 95 and 113 nM for ratiometric mode and turn-off mode, respectively. This work not only provides a new method for the accurate detection of H2O2 and glucose, but also extends a new idea for the study of the combination of scattering and fluorescence.

Abstract
In this paper, a high-performance enzyme cascade bio-platform has been developed for biosensing by combining MOFs-based nanozyme and natural enzymes. Firstly, a novel porous mixed bi-metal oxide (MnCo2O4) derived from MOF with rod-like nanostructures was synthesized. Based on this, the nanozyme of bovine serum albumin-Pt nanoparticles@mesoporous MnCo2O4 (BSA-PtNP@MnCo2O4) was successfully synthesized and used to construct enzyme cascade bio-platform. The nanozyme had unique physicochemical surface properties and hierarchical structure. Due to the synergistic effect of protein, bimetal oxide and PtNP, the nanozyme presented excellent dual enzyme activity. On the one hand, BSA-PtNP@MnCo2O4 can be used as nanozyme with oxidase activity to achieve superior detection of glutathione with detection limit of 0.42 μM. On the other hand, BSA- PtNP@MnCo2O4 can also be used both as the nanozyme with great peroxidase activity and as a scaffold for immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOx), guiding an organized high-efficiency enzyme cascade bio-platform. The platform combined advantages of nanozyme and natural enzyme, and provided excellent glucose detection with the detection limit of 8.1 μM. The tandem catalytic system not only broadened the application of nanozyme in natural enzyme catalysis, but also provided a simple, efficient and organized enzyme cascade bio-platform for biosensing and other applications.

Abstract
A differential photoelectrochemical (PEC) method for glucose determination is reported using a nanocomposite with double mimic enzymes of glucose oxidase (GOx) and peroxidase. The nanocomposite was prepared by soaking zeolite imidazole framework-67 (ZIF-67) in 0.1 M NaOH solution at room temperature for 30 min, abbreviated as CoxOyHz@ZIF-67. The Michaelis-Menten constant of CoxOyHz@ZIF-67 to H2O2 and glucose is 121 μM and 3.95 mM, respectively. Using the photoelectrode of CoxOyHz@ZIF-67/TiO2 nanotubes (NTs), glucose was oxidized firstly by dissolved oxygen to generate H2O2 under the catalysis of CoxOyHz film as the mimics of GOx. The product of H2O2 enhanced the photocurrent of TiO2 NTs under the catalysis of ZIF-67 as the mimics of peroxidase. The molecular sieve effect of ZIF-67 frameworks reduces the interferences from molecules with size larger than the apertures in ZIF-67. Under the excitation of a 150 W xenon lamp with full spectrum, the photocurrent was measured in a two-electrode system without external additional potential. By using the photocurrent difference between two photocells, i.e CoxOyHz@ZIF-67/TiO2 NTs and Pt electrode, ZIF-67/TiO2 NTs and Pt electrode, as the signal, the selectivity for glucose determination is improved further. The differential PEC method was applied to the determination of glucose with a linear range 0.1 μM~1 mM and a detection limit of 0.03 μM. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
A composite was fabricated from deep eutectic solvent and MnO2 nanosheets (DES/MnO2) and is shown to be a viable oxidase mimic. The property, morphology and composition of DES/MnO2 was characterized. DES/MnO2 displays oxidase-like activity and can oxidize 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to form a blue product (oxTMB) with an absorption maximum at 652 nm. Due to the presence of the DES, the polyanionic and negatively charged DNA is easily adsorbed on the surface of the composite by hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions. This leads to the inhibition of the oxidase-mimicking activity of DES/MnO2. This finding was used to design a colorimetric method for the determination of DNA. The assay work in the 10-100 μg mL-1 DNA concentration range and has a detection limit of 0.37 μg mL-1. The inhibiting mechanism was further studied by zeta potential measurements, dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. The selectivity study shows the DES/MnO2-TMB system to be highly selective for DNA when compared with many proteins, carbohydrates, salts and amino acid. RNA, on the other hand, interferes. The real sample analysis result illustrates that the new method can be used for the detection of DNA in bovine whole blood. Graphical abstractA novel oxidase mimic based on deep eutectic solvent-functionalized MnO2 nanosheets was synthesized, which can directly catalyze oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB, colorless) to oxTMB (blue). A sensitive and convenient colorimetric strategy for visual detection of DNA was established through DES/MnO2-TMB sensing system.

Abstract
A nanostructured catalyst is introduced that demonstrates peroxidase mimicking activity. It consists of nickel- and nitrogen-doped graphene nanotubes loaded with platinum nanoparticles. Pt-decorated Ni-doped nitrogen-rich graphitic nanotube (Pt/Ni@NGT) was synthesized using a two-step procedure in which the precursors were first refluxed to form a supramolecular assembly followed by a pyrolysis and leaching step to form nanotubes. Afterwards, Pt was decorated on the outer surface of nanotube by an ultrasound assisted method. Pt/Ni@NGT was characterized by XPS, TEM, SEM, and HAADF-STEM. The as-prepared Pt/Ni@NGT nanostructure was used for the detection of glucose via catalyzing the oxidation of a substrate, 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), to form a blue product (ox-TMB), thereby enabling colorimetric assay for enzymatically generated H2O2. The nanostructure exhibited excellent biocompatibility and led to highly efficient immobilization and retention of GOx. The method has a linear response in the 43 pM to 220 μM glucose concentration range, a detection limit as low as 1 pM and a limit of quantification of 3.4pM, along with good reproducibility(< 3%). A paper based visual microfluidic assay was also worked out that has an analytical range that extends from 0.1-50 mM. It is simple and rapid enough to be useful as a glucose home test.. The method was successfully applied to the determination of glucose in tear and saliva samples. Graphical abstract Graphene nanotubes doped with nitrogen and nickel (Ni@NGT) have been synthesized as the support to construct the unique Pt/Ni@NGT for providing artificial peroxidase activity for the GOx-based detection of glucose, which was further used for the construction of a glucose paper assay.

Abstract
Papain, a natural plant protease that exists in the latex of Carica papaya, catalyzes the hydrolysis of peptide, ester and amide bonds. In this work, we found that papain displayed peroxidase-like activity and catalyzed the oxidation of 3,3',5',5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in the presence of H2O2. This results in the formation of a blue colored product with an absorption maximum at 652 nm. The effects of experimental parameters including pH and reaction temperature on catalytic activity of papain were investigated. The increase of absorbance induced by the catalytic effect of papain offers accurate detection of H2O2 in the range of 5.00-90.0 μM, along with a detection limit of 2.10 μM. A facile colorimetric method for glucose detection was also proposed by combining the glucose oxidase (GOx)-catalyzed glucose oxidation and papain-catalyzed TMB oxidation, which exhibited a linear response in the range of 0.05-0.50 mM with a detection limit of 0.025 mM. The method proposed here displayed excellent selectivity, indicating that common coexisting substances (urea, uric acid, ascorbic acid, maltose, lactose and fructose) in urine did not interfere with detection of glucose. More importantly, the suggested method was successfully used to precisely detect the glucose concentration in human urine samples with recoveries over 96.0%.

Abstract
The oxidase-like activity of nanoceria is low. This limits its practical applications. It is demonstrated here that pyrophosphate ion (PPi) can improve the oxidase-like activity of nanoceria. Specifically, nanoceria catalyzes the oxidation of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to give a blue product (oxTMB) with an absorption peak at 645 nm in the presence of PPi. If, however, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is present, it will hydrolyze PPi, and this results in a decreased oxidase-like activity of nanoceria. Hence, less blue oxTMB willl be formed. On the other hand, if the ALP inhibitor Na3VO4 is added to the system, the oxidase-like activity of nanoceria is gradually restored. On the basis of the above results, a spectrophotometric method was developed for determination of the activity of ALP. It works in the 0.5 to 10 mU.mL-1 activity range and has a 0.32 mU.mL-1 detection limit. Na3VO4 causes a 50% ALP inhibition if present in 71 μM concentration. The assay was successfully applied to the determination of ALP in spiked human serum and gave good recoveries. Graphical abstract Schematic presentation of pyrophosphate (PPi)-induced acceleration of the oxidase-like activity of nanoceria (CeO2) for determination of alkaline phosphatase enzyme (ALP) activity and its inhibitor NaVO3.
