Abstract
The process that begins around the 6th month of life and continues until the 24th month is called the complementary feeding period. During this period, infants and children start receiving foods that complement breast milk or formula for the first time. The psychosocial factors the infants and children encounter during this period may affect their growth and health in later life. This cross-sectional and descriptive study aimed to examine the factors influencing behaviors of infants and children during complementary feeding. The study sample included 345 mothers with infants and children aged 6-24 months. The research data were collected using two forms and one scale. The first form contained questions about the mothers' sociodemographic characteristics, sources of support in childcare, and information sources related to complementary feeding. The second form contained questions about the sociodemographic characteristics of infants and children, the presence of allergies, breastfeeding, and feeding status. The scale used was the validated Behaviors of Transition to Complementary Feeding Scale. The effect of independent variables on behavior of infants and children during complementary feeding was examined using multiple linear regression analysis. Infants/children older than 12 months exhibited more negative behaviors during complementary feeding compared with those aged 6-12 months. The study also found that being the first infant/child in the family had a negative impact on behaviors during complementary feeding. Infants and children currently receiving only complementary feeding displayed more positive behaviors during the complementary feeding process. Paternal support in childcare positively influenced behaviors during this period. In conclusion, complementary feeding is a multifaceted process influenced by various factors, including the infant's and child's age, family dynamics, and parental support. Strategies to support mothers, involve fathers, and provide reliable information can facilitate a smoother process of complementary feeding and promote healthier feeding behaviors in infants and children. Descriptive, interventional, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies are required to analyze these factors in detail and improve the complementary feeding process.

Abstract
Since we published the "IV Brazilian Consensus on Rhinitis", in2017, several advances have been achieved and have enabled a further understanding of the different aspects of "Rhinitis". This new guideline, developed jointly by ASBAI, SBP and SBORL, represents a relevant milestone in the updated and integrated management of the different forms of the disease, and it aims to unify evidence-based approaches to improve the diagnosis and treatment of this common and often underestimated condition. The document covers a wide range of topics, including clear definitions of the different phenotypes and endotypes of rhinitis, risk factors, updated diagnostic criteria, and recommended methods for clinical and laboratory investigation. We stress the importance of detailed clinical history and objective assessment, as well as tools for control and assessing severity tools an accurate diagnostic approach to the disease. Regarding treatment, it emphasizes the treatment customization, considering the severity of symptoms, the presence of comorbidities and the impact on the patient's quality of life. We discuss different drug treatment, in addition to non-pharmacological measures, such as environmental control and specific immunotherapy; and the possible role of immunobiological agents. Furthermore, the consensus addresses issues related to patient education, prevention and management of special situations, such as rhinitis in children, in pregnant women and in the elderly. In short, the "V Brazilian Consensus on Rhinitis" represents a comprehensive and updated guide for healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of rhinitis, aiming to improve patients' quality of life through an integrated and evidence-based approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prolonged mouth breathing (MB) can produce muscular and postural alterations which in turn can cause changes on the morphology, position, and growth direction of the jaws. Therefore, a study was planned to compare the palatal dimension in obstructive and habitual mouth breathers with that of nasal breathers. MATERIALS AND METHODS The total sample of 75 subjects is divided into three groups with 25 patients in each group - Group A: patients with obstructive MB habit, Group B: patients with habitual MB habit, and Group C: patients with nasal breathing (control group). A maxillary cast model was prepared from these patients and the following parameters were determined using digital vernier calipers - canine distance, canine depth, palatal width, palatal height, and palatal index. One-way ANOVA with post hoc test was used to compare between the groups. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS The comparison of hard palate dimensions observed in nasal breathers, obstructive and habitual mouth breathers showed differences regarding the distance and depth of first molars. The lowest palatal width was observed in obstructive mouth breathers with a mean width of 33.25 (3.42). 56% of obstructive mouth breathers had high palatal depth compared to control (36%) and habitual mouth breathers (28%) groups. CONCLUSION Obstructive mouth breathers exhibited the lowest palatal width, accompanied by the highest palatal height and depth when compared to habitual mouth breathers and nasal breathers. It is also evident that obstructive mouth breathers presented a deeper hard palate when compared to habitual mouth breathers and nasal breathers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between breastfeeding duration and adenoid size, snoring and acute otitis media (AOM). METHODS We analyzed the medical history of children admitted to the ENT outpatient clinic in 2022 and 2023, reported symptoms, ear, nose and throat (ENT) examination, and flexible nasopharyngoscopy examination of 145 children aged 3-5 years. RESULTS Breastfeeding duration of 3 and 6 months or more had a significant effect on the reduction of snoring (p = 0.021; p = 0.039). However, it had no effect on the adenoid size, mucus coverage and sleeping with an open mouth. Snoring was correlated with open mouth sleeping (p < 0.001), adenoid size with a 75% A/C ratio or more (p < 0.001), and adenoid mucus coverage in the Mucus of Adenoid Scale by Nasopharyngoscopy Assessment-MASNA scale (p = 0.009). Children who were breastfed for less than 3 months had more than a four-fold greater risk of snoring. There was a statistically significant correlation between AOM and gender (p = 0.033), breastfeeding duration in groups fed 1, 3 or 6 months or more (p = 0.018; p = 0.004; p = 0.004) and those fed with mother's breast milk 3 or 6 months or more (p = 0.009; p = 0.010). Moreover, a correlation was found between adenoid size and mucus coverage, tympanogram, and open-mouth sleeping (p < 0.001). Independent factors of snoring in 3- to 5-year-old children were breastfeeding duration of less than 3 months (p = 0.032), adenoid size with an A/C ratio of 75% or more (p = 0.023) and open mouth sleeping (p = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Children breastfed for 3 and 6 months or more exhibited reduced rates of snoring. There was no effect of breastfeeding duration on adenoid size in children aged 3 to 5 years, suggesting that the link between breastfeeding duration and snoring is primarily associated with craniofacial development and muscle tone stimulation. A breastfeeding duration of 1 month or more plays a key role in reducing the rate of AOM. The mother's milk plays a protective role against AOM. The presence of mucus might be responsible for snoring in preschool children. A medical history of breastfeeding should be taken into consideration when snoring children are suspected of adenoid hypertrophy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare polysomnographic parameters with others from the literature in order to provide more accurate information about Rapid Maxillary Expansion (RME) for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in children, through raising the question: Is RME a good option for treating OSA in children? Prevention of mouth breathing during children's growth remains a challenge with significant clinical consequences. In addition, OSA induces anatomofunctional changes during the critical period of craniofacial growth and development. METHODS The Medline, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Web of Science, SciELO and Scopus electronic databases were searched up to February 2021 for systematic reviews with meta-analysis in the English language. Among 40 studies on RME for treating OSA in children, we selected seven in which polysomnographic measurements of the Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) had been made. Data were extracted and examined in order to clarify whether any consistent evidence exists for indicating RME as a treatment for OSA in children. RESULTS We found no consistent evidence favoring RME for long-term treatment of OSA in children. All the studies presented considerable heterogeneity due to variability of age and length of follow-up. CONCLUSION Through this umbrella review, the need for methodologically better studies on RME is supported. Moreover, it can be considered that RME is not recommended for treating OSA in children. Further studies and more evidence identifying early signs of OSA are necessary in order to achieve consistent healthcare practice.
