Abstract
Background: The prevalence of gingival recessions (GRs) in the global population is 78%. A long-term study showed a 47% increase in the prevalence of GRs five years post-orthodontic treatment, particularly in the lower anterior region. It can be caused and/or exacerbated after orthodontic treatment, where the retainer placed can induce tooth movement or when it fails to maintain a passive position upon bonding. Thus, the goal of this case report was to present treatments for gingival recessions, with the approaches of the laterally closed tunnel technique and parallel incision methods, after orthodontic treatment in patients using non-passive lingual retainers. Methods: This case report adhered to the CARE guidelines. Three healthy patients were referred due to GR defects in the lower anterior region (RT1 and RT2). All patients had GR associated with deficient lingual-fixed orthodontics retainers. The same experienced periodontist (ATD) developed the surgeries and aimed to achieve root coverage using the connective tissue graft associated with a coronally advanced flap (CAF) and modify the recipient area's gingival phenotype. Results: In all cases, a new orthodontic treatment was not possible due to anatomical or patient-related factors. Outcomes after six months, three years, and five years are presented, encompassing clinical and esthetic evaluations. Conclusions: GRs must always be addressed by orthodontic therapy or lingual-fixed orthodontic retainers. In cases where dental elements are positioned outside the bone envelope, orthodontic treatment may be considered before root coverage surgery. Therefore, surgical intervention should be undertaken for the keratinized tissue and volume gain, independently of the tooth position. Modifying the phenotype in these situations is vital for the long-term maintenance of periodontal health.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This scoping review aimed to systematically identify evidence-based interventions to stimulate healing or protect the harvested palate of patients undergoing gingival grafting. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study followed guidelines from the Joanna Briggs Institute and PRISMA-ScR (protocol available at osf.io/zhafn). PubMed, Embase, and seven other databases were searched on November 2022, with additional monitoring until April 2023. The inclusion criteria focused on studies evaluating outcomes related to the donor area (palate) and interventions for healing or protecting it, regardless of publication year and language. Data from the included publications was extracted and presented through narrative text, tables, and figures. RESULTS Eighty-one studies (including 64 clinical trials, four case series, five theses, and eight systematic reviews) and 37 clinical trial records were included. The number of studies on this topic has significantly increased, reflecting a growing interest in the field. Thirty-six interventions with published results and 12 interventions with unpublished results from clinical trial registers were identified. Some promising interventions that showed potential for improving patient-reported outcomes include cyanoacrylate adhesive, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and the combination of palatal stents and healing agents. CONCLUSIONS Thirty-six interventions with published results were identified for postoperative use on the harvested palate, showing varying levels of evidence and conflicting effectiveness for specific outcomes. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Postoperative discomfort and pain in the palate are commonly experienced by patients undergoing grafting procedures using this region as the donor area. Awareness of the available options and their levels of evidence is crucial for informed decision-making.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Gingival recession (GR) is described as an apical displacement of the gingival margin in relation to the cementoenamel junction, exposing the root surface to the oral cavity environment. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical results of a bilateral root coverage (RC) of GR associated with an autogenous connective tissue graft (aCTG) alone or combined with low-level laser therapy (aCTG + LLLT). METHODS This cross-sectional, split-mouth, double-blind, clinical pilot study featured three individuals who attended a periodontics post-graduate program with the main complaint of GR and dental hypersensitivity (DHS). Of these, only one patient met the inclusion criteria and the parameters evaluated were: DHS, the keratinized tissue's thickness and width clinical attachment level (CAL), probing on depth (PD), and bilateral GR based on Cairo RT I. The patient was evaluated by a first clinical evaluator and the treatment was randomly divided into two groups, G1: aCTG only (control group, n = 3 teeth per side) and G2: aCTG + LLLT (test group, n = 3 teeth per side). LLLT used a diode laser (660 nm) with a dose of 3 J/cm2 per point and 4 s per point was applied in four different periods, preoperatively; transoperatively and immediately postoperatively, the application was performed in three points (eight applications) on alternate days for 7 days and a 90-day follow-up was performed for clinical evaluations of the periodontal parameters and the collected data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn tests. RESULTS the RC mean percentage was <95% in both groups after 90 days. Comparing treatment sides, G1 (n = 3/3, 100%) had a higher prevalence of RC than G2 had (n = 3/3, 95%). DHS significantly decreased after 90 days in both groups. Both groups showed an improvement in the other periodontal parameters evaluated during the short-term follow-up; mainly, PD had a statistically significant (p ˂ 0.05) increase after 90 days and a CAL decrease during this period; KTW and KTT also had a significant increase in both groups (p ˂ 0.05). CONCLUSIONS the results indicated that aCTG + LLLT might have an additional benefit to GR root coverage within the evaluated time and this section also includes the within-study limitations.

Abstract
The pandemic outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2), is a new viral infection in all countries around the world. An increase in inflammatory cytokines, fever, dry cough, and pneumonia are the main symptoms of COVID-19. A shared of growing clinical evidence confirmed that cytokine storm correlates with COVID-19 severity which is also a crucial cause of death from COVID-19. The success of anti-inflammatory therapies in the recovery process of COVID-19 patients has been well established. Over the years, phototherapy (PhT) has been identified as a promising non-invasive treatment approach for inflammatory conditions. New evidence suggests that PhT as an anti-inflammatory therapy may be effective in treating acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and COVID-19. This review aims to a comprehensive overview of the direct and indirect effects of anti-inflammatory mechanisms of PhT in ARDS and COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This cross-sectional study assessed early wound healing, pain intensity, quality of life, surgical satisfaction, and related factors during periodontal surgery. METHODS A total of 369 patients completed the questionnaire before undergoing periodontal surgery (baseline), immediately after the operation (phase I), on the day of suture removal (phase II), and one month later (phase III). The Early Wound Healing Score (EHS) was assessed, and the short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ), tooth hypersensitivity visual analog scale (VAS), oral health-related quality of life measure (OHQoL-UK), and surgical satisfaction VAS were administered and analysed. RESULTS The EHS was 8.41 ± 2.74 and was influenced by disease severity and surgical factors. Scores on the SF-MPQ, pain intensity scores, and OHQoL-UK scores were significantly increased in phase I and decreased later. Tooth sensitivity decreased significantly one month after periodontal surgery. Psychological factors were positively related to SF-MPQ, pain intensity, OHQoL-UK and tooth sensitivity VAS scores in all phases, while disease severity and surgical factors were only related to these scores at baseline or in phases I/II/III. Surgical acceptance and reoperation willingness continuously decreased after surgery, and all these scores were related to surgical satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS EHS, pain intensity and quality of life were closely related to disease severity, psychological factors and surgical factors in phase I (i.e., immediately after surgery). The findings suggest that surgical details should be enhanced and that behavioural and psychological interventions measures should be implemented to improve outcomes during periodontal operation and during the early postoperative period as well as to improve patient-oriented periodontal surgery experiences. Trial registration This cross-sectional study did not include interventions with human participants, and all the experimental procedures involving humans in this study were approved by the Ethics Committee of West China College of Stomatology, Sichuan University (WCHSIRB-D-2020-284).
