Abstract
Background: Few studies have investigated the safety of endovascular treatment (EVT) for brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) via the anterior choroidal artery (AchA); therefore, this topic is worth studying further. Materials and methods: This was a retrospective study of 18 consecutive patients with BAVMs that were treated via the AchA with Onyx casting. Clinical and angiographic data were collected from the patients and analyzed. Results: The ages of the 18 patients ranged from 13 to 67 years (mean 39.2 ± 14.7 years), and eight patients were male (44.4%, 8/18). All patients had intracranial hemorrhages, including 2 with previous hemorrhages. All 18 BAVMs were mainly fed by the AchA and were treated via the AchA as the route for casting Onyx-18. Of the 13 single-trunk AchAs, after EVT, all proximal segments were preserved. For the 5 double-trunk AchAs, EVT was performed via the lower trunk; the proximal segments of the lower trunk were occluded for 2 of these AchAs. Among the 18 BAVMs, 16 niduses were embolized to different degrees, as were twelve associated aneurysms. Five (27.8%, 5/18) of the 18 patients experienced complications, and appropriate management was provided. During long-term follow-up, 14 (77.8%, 14/18) patients achieved good outcomes. Conclusion: EVT for BAVMs via the AchA has significant risks, but overall, good long-term outcomes were achieved in approximal 80% of the patients. This study highlights the potential of this technique for embolizing BAVMs via the AchA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare and analyze the efficacy and safety of different methods for injecting polidocanol in the treatment of venous malformations. METHODS The medical records of patients with venous malformations in our hospital from April 2021 to April 2023 were analyzed retrospectively, and they were divided into control group (n = 38) and observation group (n = 20) according to different treatment methods. Control group was injected with polidocanol under ultrasound guidance, while observation group was injected with polidocanol under digital subtraction angiography (DSA) monitoring. Therapeutic effects of observation group and control group after 3-6 months of treatment were compared and analyzed, and complications that can be used to reflect the safety of treatment in two groups were collected and recorded. RESULTS After treatment, the total effective rates of observation group and control group were 97.37% (37/38) and 75.00% (15/20) respectively, with significant differences (both p < .05). After 3-6 months of treatment, 13 complications occurred in observation group, while 16 occurred in control group. The number of complications in observation group was 6, with an incidence rate of 15.78%; while that in control group was 9, with an incidence rate of 45.00%, with a significant difference (p < .05). There were no significant differences among other baseline data, age and complications between two groups (all p > .05). CONCLUSION Injection of polidocanol in patients with venous malformations under DSA monitoring was more effective and safer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Flow-related aneurysms (FRAs) associated with cerebellar arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are complicated, and their management is difficult. We performed a retrospective study to explore the efficacy and outcome of parent artery occlusion (PAO) for FRAs at the proximal segment of the main feeding arteries of cerebellar AVMs. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective study was performed for patients admitted for a cerebellar AVM between January 2015 and December 2019. Patients were included if (a) they presented with a ruptured or symptomatic FRA at the proximal segment of the main feeding arteries of the cerebellar AVM, (b) the cerebellar AVM did not bleed before admission, (c) the FRA was secured via PAO of the parent feeding artery, and (d) the cerebellar AVM was not intentionally managed or embolized through other feeding arteries during hospitalization. RESULTS Eight patients aged between 27 and 72 (48.6 ± 14.3) years were identified. Eight ruptured and symptomatic FRAs at the proximal segment of the main feeding arteries of the cerebellar AVMs underwent PAO with coils or Onyx while preserving the arteries distal to the aneurysms. All the patients achieved a favorable recovery after treatment in a follow-up ranged from 8 to 48 months. One patient experienced FRA recurrence and underwent a second PAO. CONCLUSIONS PAO for FRAs at the proximal segment of the main feeding arteries of cerebellar AVMs is a feasible option. This method is effective in preventing re-rupture of the FRAs and relieving the symptoms in the short term, allowing sufficient time for the patients to receive subsequent treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To compare the long-term outcomes of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) with or without prior embolization in brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) (volume ≤10 mL) for which SRS is indicated. METHODS Patients were recruited from a nationwide multicenter prospective collaboration registry (the MATCH study) between August 2011 and August 2021, and categorized into combined embolization and SRS (E+SRS) and SRS alone cohorts. We performed propensity score-matched survival analysis to compare the long-term risk of non-fatal hemorrhagic stroke and death (primary outcomes). The long-term obliteration rate, favorable neurological outcomes, seizure, worsened mRS score, radiation-induced changes, and embolization complications were also evaluated (secondary outcomes). Hazard ratios (HRs) were calculated using Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS After study exclusions and propensity score matching, 486 patients (243 pairs) were included. The median (IQR) follow-up duration for the primary outcomes was 5.7 (3.1-8.2) years. Overall, E+SRS and SRS alone were similar in preventing long-term non-fatal hemorrhagic stroke and death (0.68 vs 0.45 per 100 patient-years; HR=1.46 (95% CI 0.56 to 3.84)), as well as in facilitating AVM obliteration (10.02 vs 9.48 per 100 patient-years; HR=1.10 (95% CI 0.87 to 1.38)). However, the E+SRS strategy was significantly inferior to the SRS alone strategy in terms of neurological deterioration (worsened mRS score: 16.0% vs 9.1%; HR=2.00 (95% CI 1.18 to 3.38)). CONCLUSIONS In this observational prospective cohort study, the combined strategy of E+SRS does not show substantial advantages over SRS alone. The findings do not support pre-SRS embolization for AVMs with a volume ≤10 mL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Transvenous embolization (TVE) of brain arteriovenous malformations (bAVMs) is an emerging endovascular technique that has shown high cure rates in selected cases. The rationale of our study was to determine authorship and worldwide institutional trends and contributions to the knowledge in this topic. METHODS Web of Science database was used. A total of 63 articles were included based on predefined inclusion criteria, which were manually reviewed. The bibliometric analysis involved the use of quantitative bibliometric indicators and network analysis with co-authorship and co-occurrence of terms, which were performed using the bibliometrix package in R and VOSviewer, respectively. RESULTS The first article was published in 2010, with the largest number of articles published in 2022 (10 articles). The average number of citations per document was 11.38, and the annual growth rate was 14.35%. The top 10 authors with the most scientific production on TVE of bAVMs were from France, and the most cited study was published by Iosif C in 2015, followed by Consoli A in 2013, and Chen CJ in 2018. Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery was the journal with the most articles published. The most commonly used keywords were dural arteriovenous fistula, Onyx, vascular disorders, and neurological surgery around 2016, and intervention around 2021. CONCLUSIONS TVE of bAVMs is an emerging technique. Our search identified some scientific articles, without randomized clinical trials, but many case series from single institutions. French and German institutions are the pioneers in the field, and further research is required in specialized endovascular centers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ventricular arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are localized in the ventricles and are mainly fed by the anterior choroidal artery (AChoA) and posterior choroidal artery (PChoA). Surgical resection of ventricular AVMs is difficult as the lesions are localized deep in the brain. Therefore, endovascular treatment is expected to treat ventricular AVMs. However, embolization from the AChoA and PChoA carries the risk of ischemic complications. Even though there are some major reports on embolization strategies from the choroidal arteries, embolization of these arteries remains technically challenging. In this article, we report two successful cases of ventricular AVM embolization using AChoA and PChoA. CASE DESCRIPTION Case 1: A 34-year-old male presented with intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH). Subsequently, ventricular AVM embolization in the anterior horn was performed using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) through the AChoA and medial PChoA, and complete obliteration was observed without neurological deterioration. Case 2: A 71-year-old female presented with IVH. Subsequently, ventricular AVM embolization in the lateral ventricle was performed through the AChoA and lateral PChoA with Onyx and NBCA, and partial obliteration was observed without complications. Furthermore, Gamma Knife surgery for residual lesions resulted in complete obliteration. CONCLUSION Embolization through the choroidal arteries for ventricular AVMs is an effective curative or adjunctive treatment.

Abstract
The anterior choroidal artery (AchA) is a very important vessel that supplies certain crucial structures that have poor collateral circulation. When the AchA is recruited to supply brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs), can the AchA act as a safe path through which endovascular treatment (EVT) be performed? As few studies or reports have investigated this matter, we performed a review to expound upon the role of the AchA in the EVT of BAVMs. In this review, we discussed the anatomy and variation of the AchA, the angioarchitecture of BAVMs fed by the AchA, the status of EVT for BAVMs and its associated problems and their solutions, the choice of embolic materials, new EVT techniques, the complications and prognoses of EVT through the AchA, etc. The review revealed that although EVT of BAVMs through the AchA is challenging and can result in unpredictable complications, it may be an appropriate option prior to surgery and radiation therapies or serve as a curative procedure. A complete and thorough understanding of the functional anatomy and variant of the AchA and proper EVT techniques are crucial for successful embolization of BAVMs via the AchA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To date, few studies have investigated the use of endovascular treatment (EVT) for brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) in the supplying area of the middle cerebral artery (MCA). Moreover, no suitable classification was aimed at EVT for MCA-BAVMs. Therefore, this study proposed a new classification. METHODS This study retrospectively collected 135 MCA‑BAVMs. They were classified into four types: Type I BAVMs located above the M1 segment; Type II BAVMs located in the region around the Sylvian fissure; and Type III BAVMs located in the supplying region of the M4 segment and subdivided into types IIIa and IIIb. The relevance of various types of MCA-BAVMs and their imaging characteristics and EVT outcomes was analyzed by ordinary one-way ANOVA, Tukey's multiple comparisons test and the chi-square test. RESULTS The 135 patients averaged 33.8 ± 14.7 years and included 75 females (55.6%, 75/135). Among them, 15 (11.1%, 15/135), 16 (11.9%, 16/135), 54 (40%, 54/135), and 50 (37%, 50/135) MCA-BAVMs were type I, II, IIIa and IIIb, respectively. After EVT, a good outcome was achieved in 97% of patients. Statistical analysis showed that type I BAVMs were smaller than type II and IIIb BAVMs (P value < 0.05), and type IIIb BAVMs were larger than type I and IIIa BAVMs (P value < 0.05). Deep vein involvement in type I and IIIb BAVMs was more common than in other types (P value < 0.05), and intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) was also more common (P value < 0.05). The normal morphology in type IIIb was less than that in the other types (P value < 0.05). Type IIIa BAVMs had a higher degree than other types (P value < 0.05). CONCLUSION The present study demonstrated that the new classification of MCA-BAVMs can be used to evaluate imaging characteristics and EVT outcomes in different types. In addition, EVT may be a safe treatment modality for MCA‑BAVMs.

Abstract
Abstract
Purpose
While Ruptured Arteriovenous Malformation Grading Scale (RAGS) has recently been validated in children, the literature lacks validation on adults exclusively. Therefore, we aimed to determine the validity of RAGS on the external multicenter adult cohort and compare its accuracy with other scales.
Methods
A retrospective analysis was performed in five neurosurgical departments to extract patients who presented with the first episode of acute brain arteriovenous malformation (bAVM) rupture between 2012 and 2019. Standard logistic regression and area under the receiver operating curve (AUROC) calculations were performed to determine the value of the following scales: intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), AVM-associated ICH (AVICH), Spetzler-Martin (SM), Supplemented SM (Supp-SM), Hunt and Hess (HH), Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), World Federation of Neurological Surgeons (WFNS), and RAGS to predict change in categorical and dichotomized modified Rankin Scale (mRS) across three follow-up periods: within the 6 months, 6 months to 1 year, and above 1 year.
Results
Sixty-one individuals with a mean age of 43.6 years were included. The RAGS outperformed other grading scales during all follow-up time frames. It showed AUROC of 0.78, 0.74, and 0.71 at the first 6 months, between 6 and 12 months, and after 12 months of follow-up, respectively, when categorized mRS was applied, while corresponding values were 0.79, 0.76, and 0.73 for dichotomized mRS, respectively.
Conclusion
The RAGS constitutes a reliable scale predicting clinical outcomes following bAVM rupture among adults. Furthermore, the RAGS proved its generalizability across medical centers with varying treatment preferences.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) generally originates from the vertebral artery (VA) and is the most complex cerebellar artery. Aneurysms can occur at any site along the PICA trunk. Although most PICA aneurysms are located at the VA-PICA junction, a small proportion is located at the PICA trunk. Endovascular treatment (EVT) of aneurysms in the PICA trunk may be difficult and complex. METHODS We performed a review to expound upon EVT of PICA trunk aneurysms. RESULTS The PICA can be divided into five segments (p1-5); the p1-3 segments are proximal segments, and the p4-5 segments are distal segments. Most PICA trunk aneurysms are dissecting aneurysms. Sometimes, the PICA can give rise to flow-related aneurysms in association with cerebellar arteriovenous malformations. Most aneurysms of the PICA trunk require aggressive treatment, especially those that have ruptured. Currently, the EVT mainly includes selective coiling with/without stent assistance and parent artery occlusion. Recently, some new devices, such as flow diversion and Barricade and Kaneka ED coils, can be used to treat PICA trunk aneurysms. The risk of complications with EVT seems to be higher; however, most complications are only transient or mild, and some are even clinically silent. In addition, open surgery is still an important option. CONCLUSION For PICA trunk aneurysms, the treatment choice should be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The rate of permanent morbidity of the EVT is low. EVT is an effective method for treating PICA trunk aneurysms.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) is a very slender and anatomically variable artery that gives off many important perforating arteries that feed the brainstem and nerve-related arteries that feed the inner ear and labyrinth. AICA trunk aneurysms are rare entities that are also difficult to manage. At present, endovascular treatment (EVT) is the preferred choice; however, the understanding of EVT for AICA trunk aneurysms is limited. METHODS In this article, we present a literature review on EVT for AICA trunk aneurysms. To promote understanding, we would also provide some illustrative educational cases of our institute. RESULTS Aneurysms along the AICA trunk can occur alone (isolated AICA aneurysm) or secondary to cerebrovascular shunts (flow-related AICA aneurysm). According to their anatomical location, they can also be divided into proximal and distal types. At present, EVT is the mainstream treatment, mainly including selective coiling with parent artery preservation and parent artery occlusion. Both coils and liquid embolization materials can be used. CONCLUSIONS For AICA trunk aneurysms, EVT is a reasonable choice and should be based on the specific anatomical location, pathology, and collateral circulation. However, there is still controversy as to the specific type of treatment that should be chosen.

Abstract
Background The intra- and post-operative acute (within 72 h) hemorrhagic complications of endovascular treatment (EVT) for a brain arteriovenous malformation (BAVM) are disastrous. Thus, further experiential summaries are required to fully understand them. Materials and methods This was a retrospective study of 25 patients with consecutive BAVM who were treated via EVT with Onyx embolization and suffered intra- and post-operative acute hemorrhage. The clinical and imaging data of the patients were recorded, analyzed, and discussed. Result Twenty-five patients were aged 11-70 years (mean, 37.2 ± 16.1 years), of whom 12 were female (48%, 12/25). Of the 25 hemorrhagic complications, 17 (68%, 17/25) were intraoperative, and 8 (32%, 8/25) were post-operative and occurred between 1 and 12 h after EVT. Of 17 intraoperative hemorrhages, 13 (76.5%, 13/17) were due to high-pressure Onyx casting. Of eight post-operative hemorrhages, six (75%, 6/8) were attributed to normal perfusion pressure breakthrough. The degree of nidus Onyx embolization was more than 2/3 or complete in seven (87.5%, 7/8) BAVMs. Draining vein occlusion was observed in eight (32%, 8/25) of 25 BAVMs. After hemorrhage, conservative treatment was administered in 12 (48%, 12/25) cases, and surgical management was performed in other cases. There were eight cases of mortality; the remaining 17 patients had follow-up data. Among them, 15 patients had good outcomes, with Glasgow Outcome Scale scores of 5 and 4, accounting for 60% (15/25). Conclusion In EVT for BAVMs, intra- and post-operative acute hemorrhagic complications are disastrous; only 60% of patients have a good outcome. Therefore, high-pressure Onyx casting or casting too much Onyx at one time to pursue a high degree of nidus embolization should be performed cautiously, and primary draining vein occlusion should be avoided. In short, EVT needs to be performed carefully.

Abstract
The posterior cerebral artery (PCA) is an important artery that can be divided into four segments (P1-4): segments P1-2 are proximal segments, and segments P3-4 are distal segments. Various aneurysms can occur along the PCA trunk. True saccular aneurysms are rare, and most PCA trunk aneurysms are dissecting. Sometimes, the PCA trunk can give rise to flow-related aneurysms in association with high-flow arteriovenous shunt diseases or moyamoya disease and internal carotid artery occlusion. Some PCA trunk aneurysms require treatment, especially ruptured or large/giant aneurysms. Recently, endovascular treatment (EVT) has become the mainstream treatment for PCA trunk aneurysms, and it mainly involves reconstructive or deconstructive techniques. Traditional EVT includes selective coiling with/without stent or balloon assistance and parent artery occlusion (PAO). For proximal aneurysms, the PCA should be preserved. For distal aneurysms, PAO can be performed. However, during EVT, preservation of the PCA must naturally be the prime objective. Recently, flow-diverting stents have been used and are a revolutionary treatment for unruptured dissecting aneurysms of the PCA trunk. Despite the associated complications, EVT remains an effective method for treating PCA trunk aneurysms and can result in a good prognosis.

Abstract
To date, at least to the best of our knowledge, there are only limited studies available on the endovascular treatment (EVT) of brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) involving the anterior cerebral artery (ACA), thus termed ACA-BAVMs. The present study retrospectively examined 60 patients with ACA-BAVMs treated with EVT. The patients were aged between 10 and 72 years (mean age, 35.4±7.0 years) and included 28 females (46.7%, 28/60). The ACA-BAVMs were divided into three types: Type I BAVMs were those located below and in front of the corpus callosum genu, type II BAVMs were those located at the upper area of the corpus callosum from the genu to the anterior portion of corpus callosum body, and type III BAVMs were those located from the anterior portion of corpus callosum body to the splenium of the corpus callosum. There were 9 (15%, 9/60), 15 (25%, 15/60) and 36 (60%, 36/60) patients with type I, II and III ACA-BAVMs, respectively. Statistical analysis revealed that the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) tended to be involved in type II and III BAVMs. All patients were treated using EVT. During EVT, there were 3 cases of intraoperative bleeding (5%, 3/60), which tended to occur in type I and II ACA-BAVMs. The other 57 cases (95%, 57/60) had no complications and new neurological deficits. At the time of discharge, 48 (80%, 48/60) patients had a Glasgow Outcome Scale score of 5. During the clinical follow-up period, 47 patients were classified according to the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score; 39 (83%, 39/47) patients presented with an mRS score of 0. On the whole, the present study demonstrated that EVT may be a safe treatment for ACA-BAVMs.

Abstract
Cerebellar arteriovenous malformations (CAVMs) have increased probabilities of rupture and bleeding compared with arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in other locations of the brain. Endovascular treatment (EVT) for CAVMs is difficult; as the angioarchitecture of CAVMs is complex, EVT may be associated with complications, due to the involvement of crucial structures, such as the brainstem. The present study aimed to determine the efficacy of EVT for CAVMS. For this purpose, 33 cases of CAVMs treated with EVT from January, 2015 to January, 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The 33 patients were aged 8 to 73 years (mean age, 40.4±17.8 years) and 21 were female (63%, 21/33). Rupture and bleeding occurred in 29 patients (87.9%, 29/33). Among the 33 CAVM cases, 15 (45.5%, 15/33) were fed by a single artery, and 18 (54.5%, 18/33) were fed by multiple arteries. In total, 27 patients (81.8%, 27/33) had superficial vein drainage alone. Among the 33 cases, 15 were complicated by 16 aneurysms, including 14 prenidal aneurysms and 2 intranidal aneurysms. Among the 33 cases, the nidus of the CAVM (87.9%, 29/33) was treated with Onyx™ casting in 29 patients: 8 cases (27.6%, 8/29) had an embolization volume of <1/3 of the nidus, 11 cases had a volume of 1/3-2/3 of the nidus (37.9%, 11/29) and 10 cases had a volume >2/3 of the nidus (34.5%, 10/29). Among the EVT complications, there were 3 cases (9.1%, 3/33) of intraoperative and post-operative bleeding, which resulted in two deaths (on the 1st and 7th days). The length of hospital stay was 10.7±5.4 days. In total, 27 patients (81.7%, 27/33) had a Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score of 5 at discharge. On the whole, the present study demonstrates that overall, EVT is a feasible treatment for CAVM and may be used to obtain acceptable therapeutic effects.

Abstract
Background: A BAVM that is mainly supplied by the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) lies deeply in the middle of the bilateral posterior hemispheres. Few studies have investigated the imaging characteristics and endovascular treatment (EVT) of brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) in this area. Methods: A retrospective study was performed for patients who were diagnosed with PCA-BAVMs from January 2015 to December 2019. The PCA-BAVMs were divided into type I and type II according to their feeding arteries. Type I PCA-BAVMs were supplied by the posterior choroidal artery (PchA) from the PCA. They could be further subdivided into type Ia and type Ib. Type II PCA-BAVMs were supplied by the temporal or occipital branch from the PCA. They could also be further subdivided into type IIa and IIb. Targeted embolization of the risk factors was the main aim of EVT. Results: Forty-two patients were identified, with age ranging from 6 to 63 years. Twenty-four cases belonged to type I (57.1%, 24/42), including 6 Ia cases and 18 Ib cases. Eighteen cases belonged to type II (42.9%, 18/42), including 7 IIa cases and 11 IIb cases. Immediate complete or nearly complete embolization was achieved in 17 (40.5%, 17/42) cases. Partial embolization was achieved in 25 (59.5%, 25/42) cases. Two (4.8%, 2/42) patients experienced intraoperative or postoperative bleeding. The GOS scores at discharge were 3, 4, and 5 in 2 (4.8%, 2/42), 2 (4.8%, 2/42), and 38 (90.4%, 38/42) cases, respectively. There was no statistical difference between patients in type I and type II groups regarding age, BAVM rupture, SM grade, immediate extent of obliteration, and prognosis. Deep venous drainage was more common in patients of the type I group (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Our classification of the PCA-BAVMs was based on the segmentation of the PCA, which is a reasonable approach and could guide the strategy of EVT. EVT is a reasonable option for the PCA-BAVMs. The main aim of EVT is to secure the weak structures. A targeted EVT aimed at the ruptured part of the BAVM can reduce the risk of early rebleeding.

Abstract
Background: In rare circumstances, brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) can recruit a transdural blood supply (TBS). The clinical and radiologic characteristics of BAVMs with a TBS are poorly understood. Methods: A retrospective review of the medical records was conducted for adult patients who were admitted for BAVMs from Jan 2013 to Dec 2019. TBSs for BAVMs were divided into 3 types: (1) unilateral TBSs from the external carotid artery (ECA) and/or meningeal branch of the vertebral artery (VA); (2) bilateral TBSs from the ECA and/or meningeal branch of the VA; and (3) meningohypophyseal trunk TBSs of the internal carotid artery. Results: Four hundred and twenty-eight patients were diagnosed with BAVMs during the study period, of whom 30 (7.0%, 30/428) were identified as having a TBS. Type 1, type 2, and type 3 TBSs were identified in 21 (70%, 21/30), 7 (23.3%, 7/30), and 2 (6.7%, 2/30) patients, respectively. Six (20%, 6/30) patients were conservatively managed. Twelve (40%, 12/30) patients underwent endovascular treatment (EVT) of the BAVM through non-TBS feeders. Eight (26.8%, 8/30) patients underwent EVT of the BAVM both through the TBS and non-TBS feeders. The modified Rankin Scale scores at the 3-month follow-up were 0, 1, 2, 4, and 5 in 24 (80%, 24/30), 2 (6.7%, 2/30), 2 (6.7%, 2/30), 1 (3.3%, 1/30), and 1 (3.3%, 1/30) patients, respectively. Good short-term recovery was achieved in 86.7% (26/30) of the patients. The size of the BAVMs with a TBS was larger than that of BAVMs without a TBS. Patients with higher Spetzler-Martin grades tended to have a TBS. No statistical difference was noted between the patients with and without a TBS with regard to age, sex, location, or concurrent aneurysms. Conclusions: This study showed that a TBS was likely to develop in patients with larger BAVMs and that a TBS was likely to be located in the temporal lobe in patients BAVMs with higher SM grades. Weak structures were the primary targets of management. In addition, a BAVM could be embolized via the TBS.

Abstract
Moyamoya disease (MMD) is characterized by progressive stenosis or occlusion of the distal internal carotid artery and simultaneous formation of collateral vasculature. The fragile alteration and increased hemodynamic stress in the intra- and extracranial vasculature would conjointly result in the formation of intracranial aneurysms in MMD patients. According to our classification, the MMD-associated aneurysms are divided into the major artery aneurysms (MAAs) and non-MAAs. The non-MAAs are further subdivided into the distal choroidal artery aneurysms, moyamoya vessel aneurysms, transdural collateral aneurysms, and anastomosis aneurysms. Currently, endovascular treatment (EVT) has become the main stream for the MMD-associated aneurysms. There is no difference to EVT for the MMD-associated MAAs of the non-stenosed major arteries with that in the non-MMD patients. While it is a big challenge to perform EVT for MMD-associated aneurysms in the stenosed arteries. Generally speaking, the parent arteries of the non-MAAs are slim, and super-selective catheterization is technically difficult. Most of the times, parent artery occlusion with liquid embolic agents or coils can only be performed. The vasculature in MMD patients is fragile; perioperative management and meticulous intraoperative manipulation are also very important to avoid complications during EVT. In spites of the complications, the EVT can bring good outcome in selected cases of MMD-associated aneurysms.
