Abstract
In the present work, enzymes pectinase and naringinase were simultaneously co-immobilized on an eco-friendly chitosan coated magnetic nanoparticles (chitosanMNPs) by cross-linking using chitosan as a macro-molecular cross-linker. The maximum activity recovery of both enzymes in the co-immobilized form was obtained at chitosanMNPs to enzymes ratio of 1:3, 3% cross-linker concentration and 150 min cross-linking time. The synthesized MNPs before and after co-immobilization were characterized using different techniques. The prepared biocatalyst was found spherical with an average size below 200 nm and showed supermagnetic property with saturation magnetization of 38.28 emu/g. The optimum pH and temperature of both enzymes in co-immobilized form was found at 5.5 and 65 °C. The prepared biocatalyst exhibited an improved thermal stability with 1.8-fold increase in the half-life. The secondary structural analysis revealed that, prepared co-immobilized biocatalyst undergone changes in the conformational and structural rigidity due to macro-molecular cross-linker. The co-immobilized biocatalysts were evaluated for one pot clarification and debittering of grapefruit juice and found ~52% reduction in turbidity and ~85% reduction in the naringin content. The co-immobilized enzymes were recycled up to 7th cycle and can be easily stored at room temperature for 30 days retaining up to 64% and 86% residual activities respectively.

Abstract
The present paper aims atincreasing the bioperformance of implantable Ti50Zr alloy using zwitterionic cysteine drug coating. Aspects such as stability, biocompatibility, and antibacterial effects were investigated with the help of various methods such as infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), electrochemical methods, contact angle determinations and cell response. The experimental data of zwitterionic cysteine coating indicate the existence of a hydration layer due to hydrophilic groups evidenced in FT-IR which is responsible for the decrease of contact angle and antibacterial capabilities. The electrochemical stability was evaluatedbased on Tafel plots and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The cell response to cysteine was determined with gingival fibroblasts measuring lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) and intracellular level of reactive oxygen species (ROS). All experimental results supported the increase of stability and better cells response of implantable Ti50Zr alloy coated with zwitterionic cysteine drug. The antibacterial index was measured against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. It was demonstrated that the coating enhanced the production of intracellular ROS in time, which subsequently caused a significant increase in antibacterial index.

Abstract
AbstractIn our approach for magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles surface modification, the fabrication of an inorganic shell, consisting of silica by the deposition of preformed colloids onto the nanoparticle surface and functionalization of these particles, was realized. The magnetic nanoparticles, non-coated and coated with silica layer by Stöber method, are functionalized with chlorosulfonic acid. The magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), in size of 10-13 nm, could be used as acid catalyst in biodiesel production and show superparamagnetic character. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by different methods including XRD, EDX, FT-IR and VSM. The catalytic activity of the coated and non-coated solid acids was examined in palmitic acid-methanol esterification as an industrial reaction for biodiesel synthesis. Although thin silica layer results in only a minor obstacle with respect to magnetism, it can accelerate the mass transportation due to its relatively porous structure and magnetic core may be more stable in the acidic reaction medium by means of covering process. Accordingly, coating strategy can be efficient way for allowing applications of MNPs in acid catalyzed esterification.

Abstract
A novel nanohybrid: Fe3O4 coated with γ-APS polymer deposited on graphene oxide (F@γ-A/G), to remove an emergent heterocyclic contaminant benzotriazole (BTA) from solution. F@γ-A/G was synthesized in methanol-dispersion via aminosilanization under ultra-sonication. We newly found that F@γ-A/G crystallite lattice has a 2D triangular-network intersection with angle of 60° in three types of d311, d220 and d111 planes with different interplanar spacings. Textural characteristics did not affect BTA adsorption, which was desired at high temperature (40 °C), neutral solution (pH = 6) and controlled by endothermic process. Considering the maximum BTA adsorption capacity of 312.5 mg/g, which was much higher than previously reported adsorbents, the plausible mechanism was attributed to hydrophobic, electrostatic and π-π interaction. Effects of pH and temperature are significant on BTA adsorption to F@γ-A/G. Methanol was the best solvent for multiple cycle regeneration with only 2% loss of BTA removal efficiency even after five cycles of F@γ-A/G.

Abstract
A sandwich-type immunosensor is designed and fabricated to detect the human immunoglobulin G (HIgG) using polyaniline and tin dioxide functionalized graphene (GS-SnO2-PAN) as the platform and biotin-functionalized amination magnetic nanoparticles composite (B-Fe3O4@APTES) as the label. GS-SnO2-PAN is used as the sensing agent to capture the primary anti-HIgG (Ab1) and SnO2 reduces the stack of GS. The B-Fe3O4@APTES with a large surface area and excellent biocompatibility captures second antibody (Ab2) efficiently based on the highly selective recognition of streptavidin to biotinylated antibody. The B-Fe3O4@APTES has better electro-catalytic activity in the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and the "biotin-streptavidin-biotin" (B-SA-B) strategy leads to signal amplification. Under optimal conditions, the immunosensor has a wide sensitivity range from 1 pg/L to 10 ng/L and low detection limit of 0.33 pg/L (S/N = 3) for HIgG. The immunosensor has high sensitivity, fast assay rate, as well as good reproducibility, specificity, and stability especially in the quantitative detection of biomolecules in serum samples.

Abstract
The liquid-phase exfoliation of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to afford colloidal dispersions of two-dimensional flakes constitutes an attractive route to facilitate the processing and implementation of this novel material toward different technological applications, but quantitative knowledge about its dispersibility in solvents is lacking. Here, we investigate the dispersion behavior of exfoliated g-C3N4 in a wide range of solvents and evaluate the obtained results on the basis of solvent surface energy and Hildebrand/Hansen solubility parameters. Estimates of the three Hansen parameters for exfoliated g-C3N4 from the experimentally derived data yielded δD ≈ 17.8 MPa(1/2), δP ≈ 10.8 MPa(1/2), and δH ≈ 15.4 MPa(1/2). The relatively high δH value suggested that, contrary to the case of other two-dimensional materials (e.g., graphene or transition metal dichalcogenides), hydrogen-bonding plays a substantial role in the efficient interaction, and thus dispersibility, of exfoliated g-C3N4 with solvents. Such an outcome was attributed to a high density of primary and/or secondary amines in the material, the presence of which was associated with incomplete condensation of the structure. Furthermore, cell proliferation tests carried out on thin films of exfoliated g-C3N4 using murine fibroblasts suggested that this material is highly biocompatible and noncytotoxic. Finally, the exfoliated g-C3N4 flakes were used as supports in the synthesis of Pd nanoparticles, and the resulting hybrids exhibited an exceptional catalytic activity in the reduction of nitroarenes.

Abstract
The stable dispersion of graphene flakes in an aqueous medium is highly desirable for the development of materials based on this two-dimensional carbon structure, but current production protocols that make use of a number of surfactants typically suffer from limitations regarding graphene concentration or the amount of surfactant required to colloidally stabilize the sheets. Here, we demonstrate that an innocuous and readily available derivative of vitamin B2, namely the sodium salt of flavin mononucleotide (FMNS), is a highly efficient dispersant in the preparation of aqueous dispersions of defect-free, few-layer graphene flakes. Most notably, graphene concentrations in water as high as ∼50 mg mL(-1) using low amounts of FMNS (FMNS/graphene mass ratios of about 0.04) could be attained, which facilitated the formation of free-standing graphene films displaying high electrical conductivity (∼52000 S m(-1)) without the need of carrying out thermal annealing or other types of post-treatment. The excellent performance of FMNS as a graphene dispersant could be attributed to the combined effect of strong adsorption on the sheets through the isoalloxazine moiety of the molecule and efficient colloidal stabilization provided by its negatively charged phosphate group. The FMNS-stabilized graphene sheets could be decorated with nanoparticles of several noble metals (Ag, Pd, and Pt), and the resulting hybrids exhibited a high catalytic activity in the reduction of nitroarenes and electroreduction of oxygen. Overall, the present results should expedite the processing and implementation of graphene in, e.g., conductive inks, composites, and hybrid materials with practical utility in a wide range of applications.
