Abstract
OBJECTIVES Despite being the third-largest healthcare professional group globally, pharmacists often grapple with ambiguity surrounding their professional identity and role in the healthcare system. This study addressed the scarcity of data on factors influencing Professional Identity Formation (PIF) among pharmacists, focusing on the context of Pakistan. METHOD Utilizing a qualitative exploratory design, the researcher conducted semi-structured interviews with 12 pharmacists in hospital, community pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry over six months. The data was transcribed, and thematic analysis was done after running two coding cycles. Three dominant themes emerged: pharmacists' perceptions of professional identity in Pakistan, attitudes towards professional roles and culture, and contextual influences on PIF. RESULT Barriers to Professional Identity Formation identified include identity splinting, insufficient knowledge and lack of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, absence of incentives and mentorship programs, workplace power dynamics, suboptimal interaction with other healthcare professionals, negative feedback from physicians, unethical marketing practices by pharmaceutical companies, and unclear roles and responsibilities. Conversely, enablers encompass a supportive working environment, equal learning opportunities, effective communication skills, respect for colleagues, and adherence to moral and ethical standards. CONCLUSION The study emphasizes the significance of PIF for pharmacists in Pakistan and calls for collective efforts to empower and enhance the pharmacy workforce. Recommendations include incorporating educational practices, curricular reforms, and experiential learning to foster professional identity among aspiring pharmacists. Strengthening professional identities is considered as beneficial for the pharmacy profession, educators, regulators, and the community, ultimately improving patient care and community health.

Abstract
Background Clinical pharmacy services (CPSs) are still in their infancy in Yemen. Furthermore, pharmacists are not members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, so their responsibilities are limited to drug dispensing and marketing. This study examines physicians' attitudes and perceived obstacles regarding the inclusion of clinical pharmacists in hospital medical wards. Methods A descriptive observational study was carried out using a validated, self-administered bilingual questionnaire. The study's questionnaire was conducted among physicians in three leading hospitals. Those hospitals were at the forefront of establishing clinical pharmacy units and embracing clinical pharmacy services. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results Sixty-five responses were included. Our data results indicated that physicians believed the most important contributions for clinical pharmacists to improve patient care were "attending medical rounds", followed by "order review". About 75% of physicians showed positive attitudes toward the clinical pharmacist role. However, more than 70% of physicians believed that clinical pharmacists should leave patient care to other healthcare professionals and focus on drug products. Not enough clinical pharmacist staff working in the health center was considered the top perceived barrier (83.1%), followed by "clinical pharmacist responsibilities were not clearly defined" and "clinical pharmacist recommendations are not properly documented". Conclusion Strategies to expand clinical pharmacy services in Yemen should focus on several key areas. Protocols must be established to clearly outline the collaboration between clinical pharmacists and physicians. Additionally, fostering inter-professional relationships is crucial to overcoming resistance and increasing awareness and understanding of CPS adoption among healthcare team members.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Optimal pharmacological treatment of tuberculosis (TB) requires a multidisciplinary team, yet the hospital pharmacist's role is unclear. We aimed to analyse hospital pharmacist-provided clinical pharmacy services (CPS) implementation in TB care. METHOD A nationwide survey-based online cross-sectional study was conducted on hospital pharmacists in Indonesia from 1 November 2022 to 22 November 2022. Outcomes were the extent of pharmacists' involvement in multidisciplinary TB care, TB-related CPS provided and views on TB-related CPS. The probability of pharmacists' involvement in multidisciplinary TB teams was assessed using logistic regression. RESULTS In total, 439 pharmacists (mean age 31.2±6.22 years, 78% female) completed the survey. Thirty-six per cent were part of multidisciplinary TB care, and 23% had TB-related tasks. Adherence monitoring (90%) and drug use evaluation (86%) were the most conducted TB-related CPS. Pharmacists' views on TB-related CPS implementation were generally positive, except for financial incentives. Work experience (OR 1.99, 95% CI 1.09 to 3.61), ever received TB-related training (OR 3.51, 95% CI 2.03 to 6.14) and specific assignments to provide TB-related CPS (OR 8.42, 95% CI 4.99 to 14.59) significantly increased pharmacist involvement in multidisciplinary TB care. CONCLUSION Around one-third of hospital pharmacists are part of multidisciplinary TB care, with medication adherence and drug use monitoring as primary tasks. Pharmacists' experience, training, assignment to provide TB-related CPS and financial incentives are key elements for further implementation in multidisciplinary TB care. Pharmacists should proactively support current TB care and conduct operational research, sharing data with healthcare peers and fostering a collaborative multidisciplinary TB care team.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Building interprofessional working relationships between general practitioners (GPs) and pharmacists is essential to ensure high-quality patient care. However, there is limited Chinese literature on GP-pharmacist collaboration, and few studies have explored GPs' experiences with pharmacist integration into general practices. This study aimed to investigate GPs' attitudes towards and frequency of collaboration with pharmacists in China. METHODS This cross-sectional study used an online self-administered questionnaire integrating two scales, ATCI-GP and FICI-GP, which had been translated and validated to investigate 3,248 GPs from February 15 to March 15, 2023 across Zhejiang Province, China. Descriptive analyses were used, and the factors associated with GPs' frequency of collaboration with pharmacists were explored using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS A total of 2,487 GPs (76.6%) responded and consented to participate in the survey; 52.3% were male and the mean age was 35.4 years. Most GPs agreed that they shared common goals and objectives with pharmacists when caring for patients (90.0%), and pharmacists were open to working with them on patients' medication management (80.8%). However, half of the GPs did not change or seldom changed the patient's medication on the pharmacist's advice (51.4%). Logistic regression analysis showed that GPs who were older and had more years of practice were more likely to agree that pharmacists were willing to collaborate, had common goals for treatment and that they would change the patient's medication on the advice of the pharmacist. GPs who had regular communication protocols (adjusted odds ratio1 [aOR1] = 1.88, 95% CI 1.45-2.45; aOR2 = 3.33, 95% CI 2.76-4.02), participated in joint continuing education (aOR1 = 1.87, 95% CI 1.44-2.43; aOR2 = 2.27, 95% CI 1.91-2.70), provided recommendations for medication review (aOR1 = 3.01, 95% CI 2.07-4.38; aOR2 = 3.50, 95% CI 2.51-4.86), and communicated with pharmacists during resident training (aOR1 = 2.15, 95% CI 1.78-2.60; aOR2 = 1.38, 95% CI 1.18-1.62) were associated with a more positive attitude towards and higher frequency of cooperation. CONCLUSIONS GPs in China displayed a positive attitude towards cooperating with pharmacists, but they did not demonstrate a similar level of practice. As environmental determinants impact interdisciplinary collaboration, healthcare managers and policy-makers need to implement measures that foster a supportive environment conducive to interdisciplinary collaboration.

Abstract
Purpose Pharmacists are key members of the pain management interdisciplinary team in many developed countries. However, the implementation of clinical pharmacy services in pain management is impeded by the imbalance between the pain physicians and clinical pharmacists specializing in pain management in China. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the perceptions, expectations and current experience of Chinese pain physicians regarding clinical pharmacy services. Patients and Methods An anonymous, self-administered questionnaire was designed according to previously published studies with minor modifications and distributed online to 1100 pain physicians selected randomly in hospitals across all 31 provinces of mainland China in 2021. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results A total of 1071 valid questionnaires were included for analysis. The pain physicians were from all 31 provinces of mainland China and most of them were from tertiary hospitals holding an undergraduate degree. Among listed kinds of clinical pharmacy services, pain physicians were less comfortable with pharmacists treating minor illnesses (p < 0.001). Pain physicians' experiences with clinical pharmacy services were far less than their expectations (p < 0.001), which is in line with the results that most of pain physicians (65.9%) interacted with pharmacists at a frequency of less than once a week. Significant differences in the experiences were found among ages (p < 0.01) and among years of work experience (p < 0.05) of pain physicians. Pain physicians' expectations of pharmacists were positively correlated with their experiences with clinical pharmacy services (p < 0.001). Conclusion Pain physicians in China had positive perceptions and high expectations, but relatively low experiences regarding clinical pharmacy services. Expanding clinical pharmacist pain management credentialing and increasing pain physicians' exposure to clinical pharmacy services are favourable to support the interdisciplinary collaboration in pain management in China.

Abstract
Background: Optimal collaboration between pharmacists and other healthcare professionals such as physicians is integral in implementing pharmaceutical care. However, there are concerns regarding the role of pharmacists, especially among low- and middle-income countries. This study explored the perceptions, expectations, and experience of physicians working in various hospital settings of Punjab, Pakistan, about pharmacists and their roles. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire consisting of four sections was administered from October to December 2020. Descriptive and inferential statistics such as Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests were used for data analysis using SPSS. Results: Six hundred and seventy-eight physicians participated in this study with a response rate of 77.9%. Most of the physicians reported minimal to no interaction with pharmacists (n = 521, 76.8%). However, more than three-quarters of physicians (n = 660, 97.3%) accepted pharmacists as evidence-based sources of drug information. In addition, many physicians (n = 574, 84.7%) strongly agreed that pharmacists should attend patient care rounds to respond promptly to questions related to patient medication. A limited number of physicians (n = 124, 18.3%) assumed that pharmacists were advising their patients regarding the judicial use of their drugs. Median expectation and experience score had a significant association with age, experience, and education of physicians (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The perception of physicians was positive toward certain roles of pharmacists, coupled with high expectations. However, their experience was low, with most of the activities of pharmacists due to inadequate interprofessional coordination.
