Abstract
A new series of cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylic (CPD) acid analogues were designed and synthesized. CPD is an inhibitor of ketol-acid reductoisomerase (KARI), an enzyme of the branched chain amino acid pathway in plants. The structures of CPD analogues were characterized by 1H NMR and HRMS. The structure of N,N'-bis(4-(tert-butyl)phenyl)cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide was further elucidated by X-ray diffraction. The herbicidal activities of these compounds were tested against lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera). Most of these compounds exhibited low herbicidal activity against both plant species. Among them, N,N'-bis(2-ethylphenyl)cyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxamide displayed moderate activity against bentgrass. Inhibition of KARI activity by the CPD analogues was also assessed experimentally and by molecular docking simulation with results supporting inhibition of KARI as their mode of action. These results provide the basis for design of more effective KARI inhibitors.

Abstract
AbstractTwo pyrazol-4-carboxamides, 3-(difluoromethyl)-N-(mesitylcarbamoyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxa-mide (7a) and 3-(difluoromethyl)-N-((3,5-dimethylphenyl) carbamoyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide (7b) were synthesized and their structures were confirmed by the aid of 1H NMR and HRMS analyses. The structure of the pyrazole-4-carboxamide, 7a was also determined by X-ray diffraction. The preliminary activity results demonstrate that these two compounds exhibit good inhibitory activity against Botrytis cinerea. Further docking results indicated that the key active group is difluoromethyl pyrazole moiety.

Abstract
A series of novel strobilurin analogues (1a-1f, 2a-2e, 3a-3e) containing arylpyrazole rings were synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. The structures of 1f, 2b and 3b were also determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. These analogues were collected together with other twenty-eight similar compounds 4a-4f, 5a-5h, 6a-6h and 7a-7f from our previous studies, for in vitro bioassays and thorough structure-activity relationships (SARs) studies. Most compounds exhibited excellent-to-good fungicidal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, especially 5c, 7a, 6c, and 3b with 98.94%, 83.40%, 71.40% and 65.87% inhibition rates at 0.1 μg mL−1, respectively, better than commercial pyraclostrobin. Comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) was employed to study three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships (3D-QSARs). Density functional theory (DFT) calculation was also carried out to provide more information regarding SARs. The present work provided some hints for developing novel strobilurin fungicides.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anthranilic diamide insecticides containing pyridylpyrazole-5-carboxamide are extremely important in modern agriculture. New structurally modified compounds with high insecticidal activity were discovered by designing a series of novel pyridylpyrazole-4-carboxamides (9I to 9IV) and pyridylpyrazole-4-carboxamides (10I to 10IV), the latter designed by the cyclisation of two amides. The structure-activity relationship (SAR) between the two series is of interest. RESULTS Two series of novel anthranilic diamides containing pyridylpyrazole-4-carboxamide were synthesised and characterised via melting point, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, MS and elemental analyses. The insecticidal activities of these compounds against Plutella xylostella were evaluated. At a concentration of 100 mg L(-1), the compounds with unmodified amide moieties (9I to 9IV) exhibited much better larvicidal activities than the other derivative compounds (10I to 10IV). Most of the compounds 9I to 9IV showed over 90% larvicidal activity at 100 mg L(-1). Furthermore, compounds 9IIIa, 9IIIc, 9IIId and 9IVd displayed significant insecticidal activity at 10 mg L(-1). Density functional theory (DFT) calculation was carried out to provide more information regarding SAR. CONCLUSION Thirty-two new anthranlic diamides containing pyridylpyrazole-4-carboxamide were designed and obtained. SAR analysis and DFT calculation results revealed that the amide moiety had a very important effect on bioactivity. This work has provided information that could aid investigations of novel insecticides.

Abstract
A series of 16 oxime ether derivatives containing 1-aryl-3-oxypyrazoles were synthesised, and the structure of one of them, (E)-methyl 2-(2-({(1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-oxy}methyl)phenyl)-2-(methoxyimino)acetate was determined by X-ray diffraction crystallography. Preliminary bioassays indicated that some of these compounds exhibited very good fungicidal activities against Rhizoctonia solani, especially the ester 2-(2-({(1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-oxy}methyl)phenyl)-2-(methoxyimino)acetate, which displayed greater activity than control compound pyraclostrobin at a dosage of 0.1 μg mL-1. The relationship between structure and fungicidal activity was discussed. Density functional theory studies of the 3-methyl heterocyclic ester and the 4-chorophenyl heterocyclic N-methylamide were carried out and the results discussed in terms of the wide difference in fungicidal activity shown by each compound.

Abstract
Four new hydrazones were synthesized by the condensation of the selected hydrazine and the appropriate nitrobenzaldehyde. A complete characterization was done employing 1H- and 13C-NMR, electrochemical techniques and theoretical studies. After the characterization and electrochemical analysis of each compound, amoebicidal activity was tested in vitro against the HM1:IMSS strain of Entamoeba histolytica. The results showed the influence of the nitrobenzene group and the hydrazone linkage on the amoebicidal activity. meta-Nitro substituted compound 2 presents a promising amoebicidal activity with an IC50 = 0.84 μM, which represents a 7-fold increase in cell growth inhibition potency with respect to metronidazole (IC50 = 6.3 μM). Compounds 1, 3, and 4 show decreased amoebicidal activity, with IC50 values of 7, 75 and 23 µM, respectively, as a function of the nitro group position on the aromatic ring. The observed differences in the biological activity could be explained not only by the redox potential of the molecules, but also by their capacity to participate in the formation of intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Redox potentials as well as the amoebicidal activity can be described with parameters obtained from the DFT analysis.

Abstract
An expedient synthesis of novel triazoles, tetrazine and thiadiazoles, using conveniently accessible and commercially available starting materials has been achieved. The synthesized compounds were characterized by spectroscopic and elemental analyses, and screened for their antibacterial activities against four different strains, namely E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus and B. megaterium. In particular, the compounds 5, 24 and 26h exhibited excellent antibacterial activities compared to the reference antibiotic. To get further insight about their behavior, these compounds were tested for their antioxidant activities via SOD-like activity, DPPH free radical scavenging activity, ABST and NO, which showed promising results. Furthermore, these compounds effectively promoted the cleavage of genomic DNA as well, in the absence of any external additives.

Abstract
Anthranilic diamides are one of the most important classes of modern agricultural insecticides. To discover new structure-modified compounds with high activity, series of novel carbonyl thioureas, carbonyl ureas, oxadiazoles, carbonyl thiophosphorylureas, oxadiazole-containing amides, and thiazoline-containing amides were designed through the modification of the amide bridge based on the structure of chlorantraniliprole and were synthesized, and bioassays were carried out. The compounds were characterized and confirmed by melting point, IR, (1)H NMR, and elemental analyses or HRMS. Preliminary bioassays indicated that some compounds exhibited significant insecticidal activities against oriental armyworm, diamondback moth, beet armyworm, corn borer, and mosquito. Among them, trifluoroethoxyl-containing carbonyl thiourea 20a showed best larvicidal activity against oriental armyworm, with LC50 and LC95 values of 0.1812 and 0.7767 mg/L, respectively. Meanwhile, 20c and 20e showed 86 and 57% death rates against diamondback moth at 0.005 mg/L, and the LC50 values of the two compounds were 0.0017 and 0.0023 mg/L, respectively, which were lower than that of the control chlorantraniliprole. The relationship between structure and insecticidal activity was discussed, and the HF calculation results indicated that the carbonyl thiourea moiety plays an important role in the insecticidal activity. The present work demonstrated that the trifluoroethoxyl-containing carbonyl thioureas can be used as lead compounds for further development of novel insecticides.

Abstract
A series of novel 3-benzisoxazolyl-4-indolyl-maleimides were synthesized and evaluated for their GSK-3β inhibitory activity. Most compounds exhibited high inhibitory potency towards GSK-3β. Among them, compound 7j with an IC₅₀ value of 0.73 nM was the most promising GSK-3β inhibitor. Preliminary structure-activity relationships were examined and showed that different substituents on the indole ring and N¹-position of the indole ring had varying degrees of influence on the GSK-3β inhibitory potency. Compounds 7c, 7f, 7j-l and 7o-q could obviously reduce Aβ-induced Tau hyperphosphorylation by inhibiting GSK-3β in a cell-based functional assay.
