Abstract
Nano-structure Cu(II) complex [Cu(AMAB)2 ]Cl2 with Schiff base (AMAB) derived from the condensation between 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde and amoxicillin trihydrate was prepared. (AMAB) Schiff base and its Cu(II) complex were identified and confirmed by different physicochemical techniques. The Schiff base (AMAB) was coordinated to copper ion through carbonyl oxygen and imine nitrogen donor sites. X-ray powder diffraction shows a cubic crystal system of the Cu(II) complex. The density functional theory was used to optimize the structure geometries of the investigated compounds. The molecular docking of the active amino acids of the investigated proteins' interactions with the tested compounds was evaluated. The bactericidal or bacteriostatic effect of the compounds was screened against some bacterial strains. The activity of Cu-chelate against Gram-negative bacteria was mainly more effective than its (AMAB) ligand and vice versa in the case of Gram-positive bacteria. The biological activity of the prepared compounds with biomolecules calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) was determined by electronic absorption spectra and DNA gel electrophoresis technique. All studies revealed that the Cu-chelate derivative exhibited better binding affinity to both CT-DNA than the AMAB and amoxicillin itself. The anti-inflammatory effect of the designed compounds was determined by testing their protein denaturation inhibitory activity spectrophotometrically. All obtained data supported that the designed nano-Cu(II) complex with Schiff base (AMAB) is a potent bactericide against H. pylori, and exhibits anti-inflammatory activity. The dual inhibition effects of the designed compound represent a modern therapeutic approach with extended spectrum of action. Therefore, it can act as good drug target in antimicrobial and anti-inflammtory therapies. Finally, H. pylori resistance to amoxicillin is absent or rare in many countries, thus amoxicillin nanoparticles may be beneficial for countries where amoxicillin resistance is reported.

Abstract
The current study aimed to synthesize new metal coordination complexes with potential biomedical applications. Metal complexes were prepared via the reaction of isatin-N(4)anti- pyrinethiosemicarbazone ligand 1 with Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III) ions. The obtained metal complexes 2-12 were characterized using elemental, spectral (1H-NMR, EPR, Mass, IR, UV-Vis) and thermal (TGA) techniques, as well as magnetic moment and molar conductance measurements. In addition, their geometries were studied using EPR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. To evaluate the in vivo anti-cancer activities of these complexes, the ligand 1 and its metal complexes 2, 7 and 9 were tested against solid tumors. The solid tumors were induced by subcutaneous (SC) injection of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cells in mice. The impact of the selected complexes on the reduction of tumor volume was determined. Also, the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and cysteine aspartyl-specific protease-7 (caspase-7) in tumor and liver tissues of mice bearing EAC tumor were determined. Moreover, their effects on alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), albumin, and glucose levels were measured. The results revealed that the tested compounds, especially complex 9, reduced tumor volume, inhibited the expression of VEGF, and induced the expression of caspase-7. Additionally, they restored the levels of ALT, AST, albumin, and glucose close to their normal levels. Taken together, our newly synthesized metal complexes are promising anti-cancer agents against solid tumors induced by EAC cells as supported by the inhibition of VEGF and induction of caspase-7.

Abstract
Novel metal(II) complexes derived from 2-hydroxy-N'-((Z)-3-(hydroxyimino)-4-oxopentan-2-ylidene)benzohydrazide ligand (H2L) were synthesized and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses (DTA and TGA), IR, UV-VIS, (1)H-NMR, ESR and mass spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibilities, and conductivities measurements. The complexes adopt distorted octahedral geometry. The ESR spectra of the solid copper(II) complexes are characteristic to d(9) configuration and have an axial symmetry type of a d(x (2)-y (2)) ground state. The g values confirmed the tetragonal octahedral geometry with a considerably ionic or covalent environment. The cytotoxic activity of the ligand and its metal complexes showed potent cytotoxicity effect against growth of human liver cancer HepG2 cell lines compared to the clinically used Sorafenib (Nexavar).

Abstract
Ternary copper(II) and binary copper(II), nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes derived from 4,4'-((4-nitro-1,2-phenylene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(3-(hydroxyimino)pentan-2-one) (H2L) were synthesized and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, IR, UV-Vis. and (1)H NMR spectroscopy, conductivity and magnetic moments measurements. The analytical and spectral data showed that, the ligand acts as dibasic tetradentate or dibasic hexadentate bonding to the metal ion via the two-imine nitrogen, two nitrogen and/or oximato oxygen atoms of deprotonated oxime groups forming five and/or six rings including the metal ions. The complexes adopt either tetragonal distorted octahedral or square planar geometry around metal ions. The ESR spectra of the solid copper(II) complexes are characteristic to d(9) configuration and having an axial symmetry type of a d(x2-y2) ground state. The g values confirmed the geometry is elongated tetragonal octahedral geometry with considerably ionic or covalent environment. The antifungal biological activity of the prepared compounds was studied using well diffusion method. The obtained results showed that, the ligand is biologically inactive while its metal complexes were more potent fungicides than the ligand and standard antifungal drug (Amphotericin B).

Abstract
The NSAID lornoxicam (LOR) drug was used for complex formation reactions with different metal salts like Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III) and Ni(II) chlorides and Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) borates. Mononuclear complexes of these metals are obtained that coordinated to NO sites of LOR ligand molecule. The nature of bonding and the stereochemistry of the complexes have been deduced from elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis, (1)H NMR, mass, electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility and ESR spectral studies, conductivity measurements, thermogravimetric analyses (TG-DTG) and further confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction. The activation thermodynamic parameters are calculated using Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. The data show that the complexes have composition of ML2 type except for Fe(II) where the type is [ML3]. The electronic absorption spectral data of the complexes suggest an octahedral geometry around the central metal ion for all the complexes. The antimicrobial data reveals that LOR ligand in solution show inhibition capacity less or sometimes more than the corresponding complexes against all the species under study. In order to establish their future potential in biomedical applications, anticancer evaluation studies against standard breast cancer cell lines (MCF7) was performed using different concentrations. The obtained results indicate high inhibition activity for Cr(III), Fe(II) and Cu(II) complexes against breast cancer cell line (MCF7) and recommends them for testing as antitumor agents.

Abstract
The tetradentate Schiff bases hydrazone ligands HL(1), HL(2) and their metal complexes have been prepared and characterized by analytical, spectral (IR, UV-vis, (1)H NMR and ESR), molar conductivity, magnetic and TGA measurements. The results show that all the metal complexes are non-electrolytes, except (2, 10 and 20) which have ionic nature. The ligands coordinate in keto-neutral form and act as bidentate or tridentate for all metal complexes, except complexes (4 and 12). The ligands react as monobasic tetradentate and tridentate for complexes (4 and 12), respectively. Octahedral/tetrahedral Co(II) and Ni(II), octahedral/square planar Cu(II), and octahedral Mn(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), Ru(III), Hf(IV) and Zr(IV)O geometries were proposed. The ESR spectra of copper complexes (12 and 14) indicate d(x2-y2) ground state with covalent bond character. The thermal decomposition and the types of crystallized water for some metal complexes were studied. The studied metal complexes are very weakly active against the tested microorganisms.

Abstract
Tridentate chelate complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) have been synthesized from the chalcone based ligands 2-[1-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propylimino)-3-(phenylallyl)]phenol(HL(1)), 2-[1-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propylimino)-3-p-tolylallyl]phenol(HL(2)), 2-[1-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propylimino)-3-4-nitrophenylallyl]phenol(HL(3)). Microanalytical data, UV-vis spectrophotometric method, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, 1H NMR, Mass, and EPR techniques were used to characterize the structure of chelates. The electronic absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements suggest a distorted square planar geometry for the copper(II) ion. The other metal complexes show distorted tetrahedral geometry. The coordination of the ligands with metal(II) ions was further confirmed by solution fluorescence spectrum. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and metal(II) complexes against the species Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albigans and Aspergillus niger has been carried out and compared. The electrochemical behavior of copper(II) complex is studied by cyclic voltammetry.

Abstract
A series of metal(II) complexes ML where M = VO(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) have been synthesized from azo Schiff base ligand (N′E)-N′-(5-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, electronic, IR, and 1H NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility and also by aid of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction, fluorescence spectral studies, and molar conductivity measurements. Conductivity measurements reveal that the complexes are nonelectrolytes. Spectroscopy and other analytical studies reveal distorted square planar geometry for copper, square-pyramidal geometry for oxovanadium, and tetrahedral geometry for other complexes. Redox behavior of the copper(II) complex has been studied with cyclic voltammetry, and the biological activities of the ligand and metal complexes have been studied against several microorganisms by the well diffusion method. All synthesized compounds can serve as potential photoactive materials as indicated from their characteristic fluorescence properties. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the ligand was measured and found to be higher than that of urea and KDP. The SEM image of the copper(II) complex implies that the size of the particles is 50 nm.

Abstract
New Schiff base (H(2)L) ligand is prepared via condensation of o-phthaldehyde and 2-aminophenol. The metal complexes of Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with the ligand are prepared in good yield from the reaction of the ligand with the corresponding metal salts. They are characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, electron spin resonance (ESR), molar conductance, (1)H NMR and thermal analysis (TGA). From the elemental analyses data, the complexes are proposed to have the general formulae [M(L)(H(2)O)n].yH(2)O (where M=Mn(II) (n=0, y=1), Fe(II) (n=y=0), Co(II) (n=2, y=0), Ni(II) (n=y=2), Cu(II) (n=0, y=2) and Zn(II) (n=y=0), and [MCl(L)(H(2)O)].yH(2)O (where M=Cr(III) and Fe(III), y=1-2). The molar conductance data reveal that all the metal chelates are non-electrolytes. IR spectra show that H(2)L is coordinated to the metal ions in a bi-negatively tetradentate manner with ONNO donor sites of the azomethine N and deprotonated phenolic-OH. This is supported by the (1)H NMR and ESR data. From the magnetic and solid reflectance spectra, it is found that the geometrical structures of these complexes are octahedral (Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes), tetrahedral (Mn(II), Fe(II) and Zn(II) complexes) and square planar (Cu(II) complex). The thermal behaviour of these chelates is studied and the activation thermodynamic parameters, such as, E*, Delta H*, DeltaS* and Delta G* are calculated from the DrTGA curves using Coats-Redfern method. The parent Schiff base and its eight metal complexes are assayed against two fungal and two bacterial species. With respect to antifungal activity, the parent Schiff base and four metal complexes inhibited the growth of the tested fungi at different rates. Ni(II) complex is the most inhibitory metal complex, followed by Cr(III) complex, parent Schiff base then Co(II) complex. With regard to bacteria, only two of the tested metal complexes (Mn(II) and Fe(II)) weakly inhibit the growth of the two tested bacteria.
