Abstract
BACKGROUND Symptom distress and functional impairments in children with leukemia directly affect their quality of life. OBJECTIVES To identify subgroups of symptom distress and functional impairments in Chinese children with leukemia and to examine the associations of the latent classes with individual characteristics. METHODS This multicenter cross-sectional survey study recruited children with leukemia who received chemotherapy in 4 hospitals in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Guangdong Province. The participants were surveyed via PROMIS-25 (Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Pediatric-25 Profile). Latent profile analysis and multinomial logistic regression model were performed to identify subgroups of symptom distress and function impairments among children with leukemia. RESULTS Latent profile analysis results suggested the classification of 3 subgroups: profile 1: "moderate symptom distress, moderate mobility impairment with fair peer relationship function" group (69, 28.3%), profile 2: "mild symptom distress, no mobility impairment with good peer relationship function" group (97, 39.8%), and profile 3: "no symptom distress, no mobility impairment with good peer relationship function" group (78, 32.0%). Sociodemographic characteristics, including gender of the children, gender and marital status of the parents, average monthly income of the family, and reimbursement ratio of treatment expenses, had significant associations with the latent profile membership ( P < .05). CONCLUSION This study identified 3 distinct profiles of symptom distress and functional impairments in children with leukemia and found significant associations between these profiles and sociodemographic characteristics. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE The classification of the 3 latent profiles in children with leukemia helps to provide targeted supportive intervention to those children and their families.

Abstract
PURPOSE Youth diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and their caregiver's experience a myriad of challenges in all domains of health that extend beyond treatment. Yet, little is known about how the cancer experience, and recollections associated with the experience, impact survivorship. We explored pediatric ALL survivors' and their caregivers' autobiographical memories of the cancer experience from diagnosis onwards. METHODS Survivors of ALL, and one of their caregivers, were recruited through a local clinic. Survivors and their caregivers completed a demographic survey and semi-structured, private, one-on-one interviews. Demographic information were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis at the level of the individual and dyad. RESULTS Insights from survivors (N = 19; Mage = 15.3 years) and their caregivers (n = 19; Mage = 45.4 years) were captured. Analyses generated two themes contingent on role (i.e., survivor or caregiver): (1) It is hard to recall my cancer experience and (2) We did as much as we could to manage our child's cancer experience and two unified themes (present in both survivors and their caregivers): (3) It took a village to get through the cancer experience and (4) The cancer diagnosis and experience has had a lasting impact. CONCLUSIONS Findings highlight the varied and long-lasting ways cancer impacts survivors of pediatric ALL and their caregivers. Survivors had difficultly remembering their experience or felt that information was withheld and were acutely aware of their caregiver's distress. Caregivers were cautious and intentionally limited the information they shared. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Survivors desired to be included within, or told about, decisions related to their healthcare and were acutely aware of their caregiver's distress. Efforts should be made to communicate with survivors (from diagnosis onward) openly and to consider strategies to minimize the short- and long-term impacts of pediatric ALL among survivors and their caregivers.

Abstract
Objective We developed a new scale-the Social Adjustment Scale for Youth Cancer Survivors-and examined its psychometric properties. Methods In the scale's development stage, preliminary items were constructed based on the results of a concept analysis of the hybrid model, literature review, and interviews. These items were then reviewed through content validity and cognitive interviews. In the validation stage, 136 survivors were recruited from two children's cancer centers in Seoul, South Korea. An exploratory factor analysis was performed to identify a set of constructs, and validity and reliability were tested. Results Starting with 70 items constructed through literature review and interviews with youth survivors, the final scale comprised 32 items. The exploratory factor analysis identified four domains-namely, role achievement in one's present position, harmony in relationships, disclosure and acceptance of cancer history, and preparation and expectation for future roles. Correlations with quality of life indicated good convergent validity (r = 0.82, P < 0.001). The Cronbach's α of the overall scale was 0.95, indicating excellent internal consistency; and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.94 (P < 0.001), suggesting high test-retest reliability. Conclusions The Social Adjustment Scale for Youth Cancer Survivors exhibited acceptable psychometric properties in measuring the social adjustment of youth cancer survivors. It can be used to identify youths facing difficulty in adjusting to society after treatment and to investigate the effect of interventions implemented to promote social adjustment among youth cancer survivors. Future research is needed to examine the applicability of the scale in patients across diverse cultural backgrounds and healthcare systems.

Abstract
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a rare type of blood cancer caused due to the overproduction of lymphocytes by the bone marrow in the human body. It is one of the common types of cancer in children, which has a fair chance of being cured. However, this may even occur in adults, and the chances of a cure are slim if diagnosed at a later stage. To aid in the early detection of this deadly disease, an intelligent method to screen the white blood cells is proposed in this study. The proposed intelligent deep learning algorithm uses the microscopic images of blood smears as the input data. This algorithm is implemented with a convolutional neural network (CNN) to predict the leukemic cells from the healthy blood cells. The custom ALLNET model was trained and tested using the microscopic images available as open-source data. The model training was carried out on Google Collaboratory using the Nvidia Tesla P-100 GPU method. Maximum accuracy of 95.54%, specificity of 95.81%, sensitivity of 95.91%, F1-score of 95.43%, and precision of 96% were obtained by this accurate classifier. The proposed technique may be used during the pre-screening to detect the leukemia cells during complete blood count (CBC) and peripheral blood tests.
