Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic, immune-mediated, inflammatory skin disease associated with significant comorbidities. Globally, there are an estimated 60 million people living with psoriasis (PLwP). There is a growing body of evidence on the role of diet in psoriasis management, and demand for dietary advice is high. However, there are no specific, evidence-based dietary guidelines. This scoping review summarises the literature on use and effectiveness of diet in the management of psoriasis to improve understanding of the evidence and assist PLwP and healthcare professionals (HCPs) to discuss diet. The findings were categorised into three themes: (1) dietary intakes of PLwP, (2) the perceived role of diet in psoriasis management and (3) dietary approaches to manage psoriasis symptoms. In cross-sectional studies PLwP were reported to have higher fat and lower fibre intakes compared with controls, and lower psoriasis severity was associated with higher fibre intake. However, research is limited. PLwP perceive diet to have an impact on symptoms and make dietary modifications which are often restrictive. Systematic reviews and RCTs found certain dietary approaches improved symptoms, but only in specific populations (e.g. PLwP with obesity and PLwP with coeliac disease), and evidence for supplement use is inconclusive. The grey literature provides limited guidance to PLwP; focusing on weight loss and associated comorbidities. Larger, controlled trials are required to determine dietary approaches for psoriasis management, especially in PLwP without obesity and non-coeliac PLwP. Further understanding of diet modification, information acquisition and experiences among PLwP will enhance holistic care for psoriasis management.

Abstract
Dietary patterns have been shown to worsen or alleviate several dermatological diseases. A well-balanced, plant-based diet is known to have anti-inflammatory, probiotic, and antioxidant properties, along with weight loss-promoting effects. Moreover, a plant-based diet has a low glycemic load, improving metabolic disease. Due to these qualities, plant-based diets may have beneficial effects on inflammatory skin conditions. In this review, we aim to discuss the possible mechanisms by which a plant-based diet reduces disease severity in psoriasis, acne, hidradenitis suppurativa, and atopic dermatitis. We also aim to clarify how a plant-based diet may influence skin healing and identify sources of vitamins, nutrients, fatty acids, and protein in a well-balanced, plant-based diet. We performed a literature search on PubMed/MEDLINE databases with the following keywords: "plant-based" OR "vegan" OR "vegetarian" OR "meat" OR "diet" AND "psoriasis" OR "hidradenitis suppurativa" OR "acne" OR "atopic dermatitis" OR "skin healing" OR "dermatology". Our findings demonstrate that plant-based foods may improve inflammatory skin diseases by supporting the gut microbiome, exerting anti-inflammatory effects, providing barrier support, and improving glycemic control. With the proper education, there is an abundance of plant-based food sources or supplements that contain riboflavin, vitamin B12, vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein, thereby ameliorating the risk of nutritional deficiencies. Thus, a plant-based diet may have therapeutic potential in dermatology. In spite of the evidence available, there is a paucity of clinical studies focusing specifically on plant-based diets and dermatologic conditions and further investigation is warranted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Obesity is the risk factor for psoriasis. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive review and meta-analysis to determine the prevalence of obesity in patients with psoriasis. METHODS We examined four databases from their inception to October 2023 and used the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale to assess the quality of observational studies. Data analysis was conducted by R language. Meta-regression, sensitivity and subgroup analyses were used to evaluate inter-study heterogeneity. Egger's test and funnel plots were used to evaluate publication bias. RESULTS The global prevalence of psoriasis and obesity comorbidity was 25% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.21-0.30). Furthermore, the co-morbidity rate was 18% (95% CI: 0.11-0.24) in children and adolescents, and 35% (95% CI: 0.30-0.39) in adults. The gender-specific prevalence rates were 23% (95% CI: 0.16-0.32) in men and 38% (95% CI: 0.20-0.61) in women. Africa had the highest prevalence (60%, 95% CI: 0.21-0.99), followed by Asia (40%, 95% CI: 0.28-0.51), while Europe and North America had similar prevalence rates at 34% (95% CI: 0.27-0.41) and 31% (95% CI: 0.27-0.38), respectively. Regarding psoriasis severity, obesity prevalence was higher in moderate psoriasis (36%, 95% CI: 0.20-0.64) and lower in mild psoriasis (27%, 95% CI: 0.16-0.46). The prevalence of obesity in the patients with severe psoriasis was 30% (95% CI: 0.20-0.45). CONCLUSION This study underscores the importance of identifying and treating obesity in patients with psoriasis to mitigate disease progression. However, more high-quality observational studies are required to elucidate their global prevalence and comorbid associations.

Abstract
SCOPE The global prevalence of obesity has significantly increased, presenting a major health challenge. High-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity is closely related to the disease severity of psoriasis, but the mechanism is not fully understood. METHODS AND RESULTS The study utilizes the HFD-induced obesity model along with an imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like mouse model (HFD-IMQ) to conduct transcriptomics and metabolomic analyses. HFD-induced obese mice exhibits more severe psoriasis-like lesions compared to normal diet (ND)-IMQ mice. The expression of genes of the IL-17 signaling pathway (IL-17A, IL-17F, S100A9, CCL20, CXCL1) is significantly upregulated, leading to an accumulation of T cells and neutrophils in the skin. Moreover, the study finds that there is an inhibition of the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) catabolism pathway, and the key gene branched-chain amino transferase 2 (Bcat2) is significantly downregulated, and the levels of leucine, isoleucine, and valine are elevated in the HFD-IMQ mice. Furthermore, the study finds that the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR γ) is inhibited, while STAT3 activity is promoted in HFD-IMQ mice. CONCLUSION HFD-induced obesity significantly amplifies IL-17 signaling and exacerbates psoriasis, with a potential role played by Bcat2-mediated BCAAs metabolism. The study suggests that BCAA catabolism and PPAR γ-STAT3 exacerbate inflammation in psoriasis with obesity.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Genital involvement is observed in approximately 60% of patients with psoriasis, presenting clinicians with formidable challenges in treatment. While new biologic drugs have emerged as safe and effective options for managing psoriasis, their efficacy in challenging-to-treat areas remains inadequately explored. Intriguingly, studies have shown that interleukin (IL)-17 inhibitors exhibit effectiveness in addressing genital psoriasis. OBJECTIVES We aimed to determine the effectiveness profile of bimekizumab in patients affected by moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis with involvement of genitalia. METHODS Bimekizumab, a dual inhibitor of both IL-17A and IL-17F, was the focus of our 16-week study, demonstrating highly favorable outcomes for patients with genital psoriasis. The effectiveness of bimekizumab was evaluated in terms of improvement in Static Physician Global Assessment of Genitalia (sPGA-G) and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index. RESULTS Sixty-five adult patients were enrolled. Remarkably, 98.4% of our participants achieved a clear sPGA-G score (s-PGA-g = 0) within 16 weeks. Moreover, consistent improvements were observed in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index scores, accompanied by a significant reduction in the mean Dermatology Life Quality Index, signifying enhanced quality of life. Notably, none of the patients reported a severe impairment in their quality of life after 16 weeks of treatment. In our cohort of 65 patients, subgroup analyses unveiled that the effectiveness of bimekizumab remained unaffected by prior exposure to other biologics or by obesity. CONCLUSIONS Our initial findings suggest that bimekizumab may serve as a valuable treatment option for genital psoriasis. Nevertheless, further research with larger sample sizes and longer-term follow-up is imperative to conclusively validate these results.

Abstract
Background Obesity and dyslipidemia, major global health concerns, have been linked to psoriasis, but previous studies faced methodological limitations and their shared genetic basis remains unclear. This study examines various obesity-related and lipidemic traits as potential contributors to psoriasis development, aiming to clarify their genetic associations and potential causal links. Methods Summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) conducted for obesity-related traits (body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for the body mass index (WHRadjBMI)) and lipidemic traits (high-density lipoprotein (HDL), LDL, triglyceride (TG), total Cholesterol (TC), apolipoprotein A1 (apoA1), apolipoprotein B (apoB), and apolipoprotein E (apoE)) and psoriasis, all in populations of European ancestry, were used. We quantified genetic correlations, identified shared loci and explored causal relationship across traits. Results We found positive genetic correlation between BMI and psoriasis (rg=0.22, p=2.44×10-18), and between WHR and psoriasis (rg=0.19, p=1.41×10-12). We further found the positive genetic correlation between psoriasis and WHRadjBMI(rg=0.07, p=1.81×10-2) the genetic correlation, in while the effect of BMI was controlled for. We identified 14 shared loci underlying psoriasis and obesity-related traits and 43 shared loci between psoriasis and lipidemic traits via cross-trait meta-analysis. Mendelian randomization (MR) supported the causal roles of BMI (IVW OR=1.483, 95%CI=1.333-1.649), WHR (IVW OR=1.393, 95%CI=1.207-1.608) and WHRadjBMI (IVW OR=1.18, 95%CI=1.047-1.329) in psoriasis, but not observe any significant association between lipidemic traits and the risk of psoriasis. Genetic predisposition to psoriasis did not appear to affect the risk of obesity and lipidemic traits. Conclusions An intrinsic link between obesity-related traits and psoriasis has been demonstrated. The genetic correlation and causal role of obesity-related traits in psoriasis highlight the significance of weight management in both the prevention and treatment of this condition.

Abstract
The Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia, published since 1925, is the most influential dermatological journal in Latin America, indexed in the main international bibliographic databases, and occupies the 50th position among the 70 dermatological journals indexed in the Journal of Citations Reports, in 2022. In this article, the authors present a critical analysis of its trajectory in the last decade and compare its main bibliometric indices with Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The journal showed consistent growth in different bibliometric indices, which indicates a successful editorial policy and greater visibility in the international scientific community, attracting foreign authors. The increases in citations received (4.1×) and in the Article Influence Score (2.9×) were more prominent than those of the main Brazilian medical and international dermatological journals. The success of Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia in the international scientific scenario depends on an assertive editorial policy, on promptly publication of high-quality articles, and on institutional stimulus to encourage clinical research in dermatology.

Abstract
Diet is known to play a role in the development of skin disorders. While a vegan diet is frequently described as a risk factor for skin disease secondary to nutritional deficiency, this risk may be overestimated. This review aims to debunk myths and provide information on skin disorders and inflammatory skin conditions that have associations with specific nutritional deficiencies in the context of a vegan diet. A literature search was performed for each nutrient and inflammatory skin disease using the PubMed/MEDLINE database and public health website pages concerning a vegan diet. The literature has individual cases reporting skin disease due to deficiencies in vitamin B2 and vitamin A in patients following a vegan diet. The recommended daily amounts of nutrients and vitamins can be fulfilled on a vegan diet. Vegan diets also avoid food groups such as dairy and other animal-based products, which holds benefits in inflammatory skin diseases including acne, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and atopic dermatitis. Overall, the risk of skin disease secondary to nutritional deficiency in patients following a vegan diet is very low and likely over-emphasized. A well-balanced and conscientiously planned vegan diet can adequately provide the necessary amounts of proteins, vitamins, and minerals to support skin health.

Abstract
The present study aimed to verify the association between psychosocial aspects (social capital) and food patterns in adult women. A cross-sectional, population-based study was conducted with a representative sample of 1,128 women, aged 20 to 69 years, living in the urban area of the municipality of São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2015. The food patterns were identified based on the frequency of food intake and classified as: healthy (fruits, vegetables, and whole foods), at-risk (ultraprocessed foods), and Brazilian (rice and beans), while social capital was evaluated using a collective efficacy scale. It was observed that 18.9% of the sample was classified with high collective efficacy. After adjusting for potential confounding factors, a 44% higher probability was observed for adherence to the healthy pattern (PR [prevalence ratio] = 1.44; 95%CI [95% confidence interval]: 1.01-2.03; p = 0.040) and 71% higher for the Brazilian pattern (PR = 1.71; 95%CI: 1.18-2.47; p= 0.004) among women with a higher level of collective efficacy, when compared to those with a low level of collective efficacy. Thus, this study verified a significant relationship between psychosocial aspects and food intake in women.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with autoimmune pathogenic characteristics and is caused by chronic inflammation, which results in uncontrolled keratinocyte growth and defective differentiation. The link between the gut microbiota and immune system regulation opened a novel angle to understand the pathogenesis of many chronic multifactorial diseases, including psoriasis. Current evidence suggests that modulation of the gut microbiota, both through dietary approaches and through supplementation with probiotics and prebiotics, could represent a novel therapeutic approach. The present work aims to highlight the latest scientific evidence regarding the microbiome alterations of psoriatic patients, as well as state of the art insights in terms of microbiome-targeted therapies as promising preventive and therapeutic tools for psoriasis.

Abstract
Obesity is a major public health issue worldwide since it is associated with the development of chronic comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemias, atherosclerosis, some cancer forms and skin diseases, including psoriasis. Scientific evidence has indicated that the possible link between obesity and psoriasis may be multifactorial, highlighting dietary habits, lifestyle, certain genetic factors and the microbiome as leading factors in the progress of both pathologies because they are associated with a chronic pro-inflammatory state. Thus, inflammation management in obesity is a plausible target for psoriasis, not only because of the sick adipose tissue secretome profile but also due to the relationship of obesity with the rest of the immune derangements associated with psoriasis initiation and maintenance. Hence, this review will provide a general and molecular overview of the relationship between both pathologies and present recent therapeutic advances in treating this problem.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic disease that has no definitive cure. In this review study, the main sources of Persian Medicine (PM) such as the Canon of Medicine (by Avicenna) and Al-Havi (by Rhazes) were assessed to identify non-pharmacological treatments for psoriasis. Several treatments that are recommended for this disease include nutritional advice, lifestyle modifications, and manipulation therapy such as wet cupping (Hijamah), leech therapy, and phlebotomy (Fasd). These recommendations may help to prevent recurrence and be useful in improving psoriasis. The efficacy of PM recommendations to improve psoriasis should be evaluated in future studies.
