Abstract
Dopamine (DA) and Folic acid (FA) are co-existing compounds in biological fluids that plays a vital role in central nervous system and human metabolism. DA is an important neurotransmitter in the brain's neural circuits and its diminution often results in Parkinson's disease. Folate is another form of folic acid, which is known as one of the B vitamins. It is utilized as an additive by women during pregnancy in order to prevent the neural tube defects. The present study reports on the fabrication of electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous determination of DA and FA using poly(o-methoxyaniline)-gold (POMA-Au) nanocomposite. The POMA-Au nanocomposite was prepared via insitu chemical oxidative polymerization method and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The suitability of POMA-Au nanocomposite as a modifier for the electrocatalytic detection of DA and FA in aqueous solution was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and chronoamperometry (CA) techniques. The fabricated POMA-Au/GCE sensor exhibited sharp and intense peaks towards the electro-oxidation of DA and FA as compared to bare electrode. The sensor exhibited the promising electron mediating behavior with well separated oxidation peaks with a potential difference of about 350.0 mV. The linear calibration plots of DA and FA were obtained from 10.0 to 300.0 μM and 0.5 to 900.0 μM with the detection limits of 0.062 μM and 0.090 μM, respectively. The reliability of this sensor was verified to be precise as well as sensitive for the determination of DA and FA in pharmaceutical samples and human urine samples.

Abstract
Folate receptors are overexpressed on cancer cells and frequently used for targeted delivery. Creation of synthetic receptors to bind folic acid and its analogues in water, however, is challenging because of its complex hydrogen-bonding patterns and competition for hydrogen bonds from the solvent. Micellar imprinting within cross-linkable surfactants circumvented these problems because the nonpolar micellar environment strengthened the hydrogen bonds between the amide group in the surfactant and the template molecule. Incorporation of polymerizable thiouronium functional monomers further enhanced the binding through hydrogen-bond-reinforced ion pairs with the glutamate moiety of the template. The resulting imprinted micelles were able to bind folate and their analogues with submicromolar affinity and distinguish small changes in the hydrogen-bonding patterns as well as the number/position of carboxylic acids. The binding constant obtained was 2-3 orders of magnitude higher than those reported for small-molecule synthetic receptors. Our binding study also revealed interesting details in the binding. For example, the relative contributions of different segments of the molecule to the binding followed the order of carboxylates > pyrimidine ring > pyrazine ring.

Abstract
Since the introduction of the molecularly imprinting technology (MIT) in the 1970s, it becomes an emerging technology with the potential for wide-ranging applications in drug determination. With the rise of green chemistry, many researchers began to focus on the application and development of green materials which led to the breakthrough of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) in the green chemistry. Because of the low concentration levels in the human matrices, almost adequate analytical methods should be used for quantification of drugs at the trace levels. In recent years there have been reported benefits of combining MIPs with additional features, e.g. magnetic properties, through the build-up of this type of material on magnetite particles. Magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) is a new material which is composed of magnetic material and non-magnetic polymer material and shares the characteristics of high adsorption capacity to template molecule, special selective recognition ability, and the magnetic adsorption property. These materials have been widely used in the different fields such as chemical, biological and medical science. This review describes the novel configurations and progressive applications of magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers to the drug analysis. Also, the advantages and drawbacks of each methodology, as well as the future expected trends, are evaluated.

Abstract
Herein, we present a survey of the literature covering the development of molecular imprinting science and technology over the years 2004-2011. In total, 3779 references to the original papers, reviews, edited volumes and monographs from this period are included, along with recently identified uncited materials from prior to 2004, which were omitted in the first instalment of this series covering the years 1930-2003. In the presentation of the assembled references, a section presenting reviews and monographs covering the area is followed by sections describing fundamental aspects of molecular imprinting including the development of novel polymer formats. Thereafter, literature describing efforts to apply these polymeric materials to a range of application areas is presented. Current trends and areas of rapid development are discussed.

Optimization of molecularly imprinted polymer method for rapid screening of 17β-estradiol in water by fluorescence quenching. Int J Anal Chem 2011; 2011:214747. Abstract
A new method was optimized for rapid screening of 17β-estradiol (E2) in water under 10 min. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) particles (325 ± 25 nm) were added in a water sample at pH 5.5 and 20°C to form a suspension. Fluorescence emission from E2 nonspecifically bound onto the MIP particles was first quenched by large gold nanoparticles (43 ± 5 nm). The Stern-Volmer plot was linear, with dynamic quenching constants (Ksv) of 2.9 ×104 M−1. Fluorescence emission from E2 specifically bound inside the MIP particles was next quenched by small nitrite anions that easily penetrated the imprinted cavities. The Stern-Volmer plot became nonlinear, with Ksv = 2.1 × 102 M−1 and static quenching constant (V) below 1.0 M−1. The difference between these two emission intensities varied as the initial E2 concentration in water, generating a Scatchard calibration curve with R2 > 0.97 from 0.1 to 10 ppb.

Abstract
Herein, a novel imprinted sol-gel electrochemical sensor based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) doped with chitosan film on a carbon electrode has been developed. Prior to doped, the MWNTs have been decorated with Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles which have been coated uniformly with SiO(2) layer. The characterization of imprinted sensor has been carried out by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The performance of the proposed imprinted sensor has been investigated using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The imprinted sensor offers a fast response and sensitive benzylpenicillin quantification. The fabricated benzylpenicillin imprinted sensor exhibits a linear response from 5.0×10(-8) to 1.0×10(-3) mol L(-1) with a detection limit of 1.5×10(-9) mol L(-1). For samples analysis, perfect recoveries of the imprinted sensor for benzylpenicillin indicated that the imprinted sensor was able to detect benzylpenicillin in real samples successfully.

Abstract
Thyroxine is a known disease biomarker which demands a highly sensitive and selective technique to measure ultratrace level with enantiodifferentiation of its optical isomers (d- and l-), in real samples. In this work, an approach of hyphenation between molecularly imprinted micro-solid phase extraction and a complementary molecularly imprinted polymer-sensor was adopted for enantioseparation, preconcentration, and analysis of d- and l-thyroxine. In both techniques, the same imprinted polymer, coated on a vinyl functionalized self-assembled monolayer modified silver wire, was used as the respective extraction fiber as well as sensor material. This combination enabled enhanced preconcentration of test analyte substantially so as to achieve the stringent limit [limit of detection: 0.0084 ng mL(-1), RSD=0.81%, S/N=3 (d-thyroxine); 0.0087 ng mL(-1), RSD=0.63%, S/N=3 (l-thyroxine)] of clinical detection of thyroid-related diseases, without any problems of non-specific false-positive contribution and cross-reactivity.
