Abstract
The different dyes used and discharged in industrial settings and microbial pathogenic issues have raised serious concerns about the content of bodies of water and the impact that dyes and microbes have on the environment and human health. Efficient treatment of contaminated water is thus a major challenge that is of great interest to researchers around the world. In the present work, we have fabricated functionalized silver-doped ZnO nanoparticles (Ag-doped ZnO NPs) via a hydrothermal method for wastewater treatment. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis confirmed the doping of Ag with ZnO NPs, and X-ray diffractometry analysis showed a decreasing trend in the crystallite size of the synthesized ZnO NPs with increased Ag concentration. Field emission scanning electron microscopy study of pure ZnO NPs and Ag-doped ZnO NPs revealed nanocrystal aggregates with mixed morphologies, such as hexagonal and rod-shaped structures. Distribution of Ag on the ZnO lattice is confirmed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis. ZnO NPs with 4 wt% Ag doping showed a maximum degradation of ∼95% in 1.5 h of malachite green dye (80 mg L-1) under visible light and ∼85% in 4 h under dark conditions. Up to five successive treatment cycles using the 4 wt% Ag-doped ZnO NP nanocatalyst confirmed its reusability, as it was still capable of degrading ∼86% and 82% of the dye under visible light and dark conditions, respectively. This limits the risk of nanotoxicity and aids the cost-effectiveness of the overall treatment process. The synthesized NPs showed antibacterial activity in a dose-dependent manner. The zone of inhibition of the Ag-doped ZnO NPs was higher than that of the pure ZnO NPs for all doping content. The studied Ag-doped ZnO NPs thus offer a significant eco-friendly route for the effective treatment of water contaminated with synthetic dyes and fecal bacterial load.

The Shell Matters: Self-Organized CdS-ZnS/MnS-Core-Shell—Porphyrin-Polymer Nano-Assemblies for Photocatalysis. Catalysts 2022. Abstract
A facile synthesis of catalytically tunable core-shell CdS-ZnxMn1-xS-nanoparticles in conjunction with poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and porphyrin in an aqueous solution is described in the following: The shell composition of the inorganic nanoparticles is varied to tune the optical properties and to optimize the catalytic activity. Further, the tetravalent cationic 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-trimethylammoniophenyl) porphyrin (TAPP) fulfills a triple functionality in the catalyst: as a photosensitizer, as an electrostatic linker connecting the nanoparticles and as a probe to investigate the surface composition of the II-VI semiconducting nanoparticles. Different nanoparticles with varying zinc sulfide/manganese sulfide shell ratios are tested with regard to their photocatalytic behavior by crocin bleaching. The results reveal that the shell composition can be a crucial key to optimize the catalytic activity, which can further be important in tuning the reactivity of related systems. Fundamentally, the stepwise multi-component self-assembly in an aqueous solution has been demonstrated to allow the tuning of optic and catalytic properties of core-shell nanoparticles, a general concept that may be widely applicable.

Abstract
An efficient method for ambient-temperature synthesis of a variety of 2-substituted and 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazoles from aldehyde and phenylenediamine substrates has been developed by utilizing Co(III)/Co(II)-mediated redox catalysis. The combination of only 1 mol% of Co(acac)2 and stoichiometric amount of hydrogen peroxide provides a fast, green, and mild access to a diversity of benzimidazoles under solvent-free conditions.

Abstract
In the last few decades, ball-milling has received tremendous attention as a "green tool" for conducting various challenging organic transformations under transition-metal-free and solvent-free conditions. Organosulfur and related heterocycles are ubiquitous in numerous biologically active molecules with potential applications, and those molecules could be synthesized from readily available starting materials under mechanochemical conditions without using any hazardous chemical or solvent. This synopsis highlights the green strategies developed in recent times to synthesize organosulfur and related heterocycles under ball-milling conditions.

Abstract
Metal-free organocatalysts are becoming an important tool for the sustainable development
of various bioactive heterocycles. On the other hand, during the last two decades,
calix[n]arenes have been gaining considerable attention due to their wide range of applicability
in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Recently, sulfonic acid functionalized calix[n]
arenes are being employed as an efficient alternative catalyst for the synthesis of various bioactive
scaffolds. In this review, we have summarized the catalytic efficiency of p-sulfonic
acid calix[n]arenes for the synthesis of diverse, biologically promising scaffolds under various
reaction conditions. There is no such review available in the literature showing the catalytic
applicability of p-sulfonic acid calix[n]arenes. Therefore, it is strongly believed that this
review will surely attract those researchers who are interested in this fascinating organocatalyst.
