Abstract
Although childhood maltreatment has been suggested to play an important role in developing Internet addiction among adolescents, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this association. The present study investigated (a) the mediating role of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategy (MCERS) in the association between childhood maltreatment and Internet addiction, and (b) the moderating role of peer support in the relationship between childhood maltreatment and Internet addiction. A sample of 4163 Chinese adolescents (50.3 % females, Mage = 14.25, SD = 1.53) were recruited. The moderated mediation model showed that MCERS mediated the relationship between childhood maltreatment and Internet addiction. Furthermore, the mediating process was moderated by peer support. Interestingly, peer support can protect adolescents from being affected by higher levels of MCERS while it displays limited protective effect when adolescents suffered from higher levels of childhood maltreatment. These findings indicate that reducing the MCERS and enhancing peer support can contribute to the alleviation of negative influences of childhood maltreatment on Internet addiction.

Abstract
Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of people's lives, and their use has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, mobile phone addiction has also become a growing concern. This study investigates how cumulative childhood trauma relates to mobile phone addiction among Chinese college students, and the subsequent role of self-esteem and self-concept clarity. A sample of Chinese college students (N = 620) were investigated using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form, the Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and the Self-Concept Clarity Scale. The results showed that: (1) cumulative childhood trauma significantly and positively predicted mobile phone addiction among college students; (2) self-esteem mediated the association between cumulative childhood trauma and mobile phone addiction; and (3) self-esteem and self-concept clarity had a sequential mediating effect on the relationship between cumulative childhood trauma and mobile phone addiction. Thus, this study is a reminder to focus on the combined role of multiple adverse experiences and self-system factors in the intervention of mobile phone addiction.

Abstract
Existing studies have found that childhood trauma is a risk predictor of cybervictimization, but few studies have explored the relationship between cumulative childhood trauma and college students' cybervictimization. This study explored the relationship and the roles of Internet addiction and Internet victimization between them. A total of 854 college students (568 females, M age = 18.92 years, SD = 0.86) completed a survey including the Short Form of Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, the Cyberbullying Inventory, the Young's Internet Addiction Scale, and the revised Roommate Relationships Questionnaire. The results showed that: (1) cumulative childhood trauma was significantly positively associated with cybervictimization; (2) Internet addiction played a mediating role between cumulative childhood trauma and cybervictimization; and (3) roommate relationships played a moderating role between cumulative childhood trauma and cybervictimization, as well as Internet addiction and cybervictimization. The research findings provide a theoretical and practical basis for the prevention and intervention of college students' cybervictimization.

Abstract
Individuals with complex trauma exposure (CTE) in early life (i.e., childhood/adolescence) are at heightened risk for developing problems in various domains of functioning. As such, CTE has repeatedly been linked to internalizing mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, as well as emotion dysregulation across the lifespan. While these correlates of CTE are comparatively well studied up to middle adulthood, they are insufficiently studied in older adulthood. Therefore, this study aimed to (a) compare Swiss older adults with and without a CTE history regarding current and lifetime internalizing mental health disorders and emotion regulation strategies; and (b) to examine the potential mediating role of emotion regulation in the mental health disparities between these groups. A total of N = 257 participants (age = 49-95 years; 46.3% female) were assessed in a retrospective, cross-sectional study, using two face-to-face interviews. The CTE group (n = 161; M age = 69.66 years, 48.4% female) presented with significantly more current and lifetime internalizing mental health disorders than the non-affected (nCTE) group (n = 96; M age = 72.49 years, 42.7% female). The CTE group showed significantly higher emotion suppression and lower emotion reappraisal compared to the nCTE group. Mediation analysis revealed that the two emotion regulation strategies were significant mediators between CTE history and internalizing mental health disorders. Findings emphasize the relevance of emotion (dys-)regulation in understanding mental health disparities in older age and deciding about treatment strategies. Research and practice should pay more attention to the needs of this high-risk group of older individuals.

Abstract
CONTEXT Maternal thyroid hormone trajectories are a better predictor of offspring's neurodevelopment than hormone levels in single trimester of pregnancy. Programming effect of uterine hormonal environment on offspring's health is usually sex-specific. OBJECTIVE To examine the sex-specific effect of thyroid hormone trajectories on preschoolers' behavioral development. DESIGN Based on Ma' anshan Birth Cohort in China, pregnant women were recruited at their first antenatal checkup from May 2013 to September 2014. SETTING Ma' anshan Maternal and Child Health Hospital in China. PATIENTS OR OTHER PARTICIPANTS 1860 mother-child pairs were included in the analysis. Children were followed up at age of 4. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Maternal thyroid hormones [thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4)] and thyroid peroxidase antibody in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy were retrospectively assayed. Preschoolers' behavioral development was assessed by Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist/1.5~5. RESULTS Maternal TSH and FT4 levels were respectively fitted into high, moderate, and low trajectories. In boys, maternal high TSH trajectory was related to withdrawn [odds ratio (OR) = 2.01, 95% CI: 1.16, 3.50) and externalizing problems (OR = 2.69, 95% CI: 1.22, 5.92), and moderate TSH trajectory was associated with aggressive behavior (OR = 3.76, 95% CI: 1.16, 12.23). Maternal high FT4 trajectory was associated with anxious/depressed (OR = 2.22, 95% CI: 1.08, 4.56) and total problems (OR = 1.74, 95% CI: 1.13, 2.66), and low FT4 trajectory was associated with aggressive behavior (OR = 4.17, 95% CI: 1.22, 14.24). CONCLUSIONS Maternal thyroid hormone trajectories impact preschool boys' behavioral development.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Foster children experience maltreatment at exceptionally high rates with increased risk to develop ICD-11 complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). While rates of comorbidity between CPTSD and various disorders are high, the interplay between constituent aspects of psychopathology is not clearly understood. No study used network analysis to model the interplay between these aspects as potentially maintaining a stable condition of psychopathology, and research on the etiology and maintenance of CPTSD in children is especially scarce. METHODS Altogether, 208 Austrian foster children completed a set of standardized measures, resulting in a final sample of N = 122 foster children meeting the inclusion criteria. Experiences of childhood trauma, ICD-11 CPTSD, depression, dissociation, adaptive, and maladaptive emotion regulation were assessed. Following an exploratory approach, analyses were conducted using latent single indicator factor scores in two network models. RESULTS Domains of CPTSD, PTSD and disturbances in self-organization (DSO), evidenced as most central factors in children's complex psychopathology. Including cumulative childhood trauma did not influence the connectedness of factors in any relevant way. Shortest direct paths from cumulative childhood trauma to CPTSD included dissociation (PTSD) and adaptive emotion regulation (DSO) as mediating factors. LIMITATIONS Results are based on a small sample of highly-traumatized foster children, potentially limiting current findings' generalizability. CONCLUSIONS CPTSD identified as central in children's complex psychopathology, while the role of childhood trauma seems stronger for the onset than the maintenance of such psychopathology. The current network revealed central disorders and distinct mediating factors as important targets for treatment strategies and future research.

Abstract
Background: The 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) introduces Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) as two distinct trauma-related disorders. Numerous studies support the proposed symptom structure of ICD-11 CPTSD in adults, but only a few studies have examined CPTSD symptom structure in children, reporting diverging results. To assess ICD-11 CPTSD in children, the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) was recently adapted for children and adolescents (ITQ-CA), with no validated German version available yet. Objective: This study aimed (1) to test the symptom structure of ICD-11 CPTSD in a sample of trauma-exposed foster children using the ITQ-CA, and (2) to examine the concurrent, convergent and discriminant validity of the German ITQ-CA. Method: Altogether, 161 Austrian foster children completed a set of standardized measures, resulting in a final sample of 135 trauma-exposed foster children meeting the inclusion criteria. Psychometric properties of the ITQ-CA were assessed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), bivariate correlations and multivariate regression. Results: CFA supported ICD-11 CPTSD symptom structure in children as a two-factor higher-order model with PTSD and Disturbances in Self-Organization (DSO) as correlated factors with very good model fit, while a one-factor higher-order model also fitted the data very well. High factor loadings and excellent levels of internal reliability evidenced the psychometric adequacy of the ITQ-CA. Concurrent and convergent validity were evidenced by high correlations between ITQ-CA scales and criterion variables (PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, dissociation, lifetime traumatization). Discriminant validity was partly supported by PTSD and DSO being differently predicted by exogenous criterion variables. Conclusions: CPTSD symptom structure in children is in support of the ICD-11 conceptualization. The reliability and validity of the German ITQ-CA are evidenced for the first time, identifying it as an easy-to-use screening instrument to assess ICD-11 PTSD and CPTSD in children. Further implications and areas for upcoming studies are discussed.
