Preparation of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene based solid-phase microextraction coating for sensitive determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in environmental water samples. J Sep Sci 2021; 44:3398-3406. Abstract
In this study, a new Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber was synthesized and utilized as coatings for solid-phase microextraction of seven polychlorinated biphenyls. The as-produced multilayered Ti3 C2 Tx MXene was characterized by X-ray diffractometer, thermos-gravimetric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy. It is noteworthy that the Ti3 C2 Tx showed some attractive features including unique 2D layered structures, large surface area, good hydrophilicity, and rich active recognition sites, endowing it has a high affinity towards the target polychlorinated biphenyls. Subsequently, the affecting parameters on the extraction efficiency of polychlorinated biphenyls were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, a novel method for the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls in water samples was proposed. The Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber-based solid-phase microextraction method showed good linearity (r2 > 0.9928), high enrichment factors (268-442), low limits of detection (0.06-0.15 ng/L), and satisfactory repeatability (RSDs < 7.5%) for the polychlorinated biphenyls. The excellent method recoveries were in the range of 90.0-98.4, 92.0-98.2, and 92.0-98.0% for river water, lake water, and tap water samples, respectively. These results suggested that the proposed Ti3 C2 Tx -coated fiber-based method represents a promising alternative for the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls.

Abstract
In this study, MIL-53(Al) metal-organic framework was prepared from waste raw materials. A polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottle was used as the source of terephthalic acid, and an aluminium beverage can was applied as the precursor of aluminium salt. The activated MIL-53(Al) was immobilized onto a stainless steel probe of the ion mobility spectrometer (IMS), and the coated probe was used for solid-phase microextraction of propranolol from biological samples before determination. The effect of the different parameters such as pH, ionic strength, and stirring rate of the sample, extraction time, and temperature was studied on the extraction efficiency of propranolol. The linearity was obtained ranging from 5-200 μg L-1 with a determination coefficient (R2) of 0.9988, and the detection limit was calculated 1.7 μg L-1 in the water sample. The relative standard deviations of the method were in the range of 2.5-12.2 %. Finally, the method was utilized for determination of propranolol in the tablet sample.

Abstract
The development of new support and geometries of solid phase microextraction (SPME), including metal fiber assemblies, coated-tip, and thin film microextraction (TFME) (i.e. self-supported, fabric and blade supported), as well as their effects on diffusion and extraction rate of analytes were discussed in the current review. Application of main techniques widely used for preparation of a variety of coating materials of SPME, including sol-gel technique, electrochemical and electrospinning methods as well as the available commercial coatings, were presented. Advantages and limitations of each technique from several aspects, such as range of application, biocompatibility, availability in different geometrical configurations, method of preparation, incorporation of various materials to tune the coating properties, and thermal and physical stability, were also investigated. Future perspectives of each technique to improve the efficiency and stability of the coatings were also summarized. Some interesting materials including ionic liquids (ILs), metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and particle loaded coatings were briefly presented.

Abstract
The fabrication and implementation of aligned electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers as a stationary phase for ultra-thin layer chromatography (UTLC) is described. The aligned electrospun UTLC plates (AE-UTLC) were characterized to give an optimized electrospun mat consisting of high nanofiber alignment and a mat thickness of ~25 μm. The AE-UTLC devices were used to separate a mixture of β-blockers and steroidal compounds to illustrate the properties of AE-UTLC. The AE-UTLC plates provided shorter analysis time (~2-2.5 times faster) with improved reproducibility (as high as 2 times) as well as an improvement in efficiency (up to100 times greater) relative to non-aligned electrospun-UTLC (E-UTLC) devices.
