Abstract
In recent years, photocatalytic materials with a nanofiber-like morphology have garnered a surge of academic attention due to their distinctive properties, including an expansive specific surface area, a considerable high aspect ratio, a pronounced resistance to agglomeration, superior electron survivability, and robust surface activity. Consequently, the synthesis of photocatalytic nanofiber materials through various methodologies has drawn considerable attention. The electrospinning technique has been established as a prevalent method for fabricating nanofiber-structured materials, owing to its advantageous properties, including the ability for mass production and the assurance of high continuity. This review focuses on metal oxide semiconductor-based materials, which are crucial components of photocatalysts. We summarize several recent studies that explore morphology modulation, surface modification, element doping, and composite construction using uniaxial and coaxial electrospinning techniques. Finally, we present potential approaches for constructing high-activity photocatalytic systems through electrospinning technique.

Abstract
Textile industry is a significant contributor of wastewater, which contains pollutants including dye and other chemical substances. The release of thousands of tons of dye used in textile processing and finishing into natural streams and aquatic bodies present dire harm to the environment. In response to environmental concerns, a number of research have been done using low-cost technology to produce absorbents that can remove dyes from water bodies. Distinct techniques such as adsorption, enzymatic and photocatalytic degradation, etc. have been employed to remove dyes. In the last few decades, photocatalysis, a simple and green strategy, has emerged as the most valuable and recent principle that deals with wastewater treatment, using uniquely fabricated nanomaterials. Among them, rapid and versatile electrospinning methods have been used for the construction of a large surface area, hierarchical and reusable nanofibers for environmental remediation. As a flexible and fast fabrication method, reviewing the use of electrospun photocatalytic nanofibers, influential parameters in electrospinning and their effectiveness in the generation of oxidizing agents are a promising platform for the fabrication of novel nanomaterials in photocatalytic degradation of dyes. This review discusses techniques for dye removal, electrospun nanofibers, their fabrication and application in photocatalysis; mechanism of photocatalytic degradation, and challenges and suggested remedies for electrospun nanofibers in photocatalysis.

Abstract
Excessive discharge of toxic dyes is detrimental to ecological system and human health. Therefore, an effective photocatalyst must be designed and developed to degrade dyes from wastewater. Herein, a novel one-dimensional (1D) flower-like recoverable ZnFe2O4/C/MnO2/BiOI magnetic composite photocatalyst was synthesized via electrospinning technique combined with hydrothermal method. The photocatalytic activities of composite photocatalyst were evaluated by degrading methyl orange (MO) and Rhodamine B (RhB) under simulated light irradiation. The efficiency of ZnFe2O4/C/MnO2/BiOI photocatalyst in visible light for 150 min reached 91% (MO) and 120 min reached 94% (RhB). Moreover, the degradation rate of MO still remained 78% after five cycles. The design of 1D magnetic flower-like composite provided a new strategy for preparing photocatalysts possessing excellent photocatalytic efficiency and cyclic stability.

Abstract
The increasing interest in acquiring efficient visible-light active photocatalytic materials has led to the formation of heterojunctions with different combinations of semiconductors. Despite the fact that increasingly more complex structures are proposed, there are still many unclear factors affecting their performance and limiting their prompt implementation. In this work, we used the spray pyrolysis technique to deposit individual visible light-active BiOBr and BiOI films and formed the heterojunctions BiOBr-BiOI and BiOI-BiOBr to determine the effect of the stacking order of semiconductors. These materials were widely characterized; their structural, optical, (photo)electrochemical, and photocatalytic properties were evaluated, revealing that the configuration BiOI-BiOBr boosted the photocatalytic indigo carmine dye removal under simulated sunlight irradiation, but the opposite layout quenched it. The high efficiency is attributed to a better use of the incident radiation and the effective migration of the photogenerated carriers. BiOBr - with a wider band gap and a less negative conduction band with respect to BiOI - provides its good attributes to the heterostructure, such as high stability and low recombination rates, when it is at the surface. We demonstrated that in thin-film heterostructures, the order in which the layers are stacked becomes decisive for the photocatalytic performance and that the energy band gap and the relative band positions of both semiconductors are the principal features that govern the photocatalytic mechanism. These findings provide a key to designing more efficient photocatalysts without several unsuccessful trials.

Abstract
This discourse aimed at providing insight into the strategies that can be adopted to boost the process of photoreduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). Cr(VI) is amongst the highly detestable pollutants; thus, its removal or reduction to an innocuous and more tolerable Cr(III) has been the focus. The high promise of photocatalysis hinged on the sustainability, low cost, simplicity, and zero sludge generation. Consequently, the present dissertation provided a comprehensive review of the process enhancement procedures that have been reported for the photoreduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III). Premised on the findings from experimental studies on Cr(VI) reductions, the factors that enhanced the process were identified, dilated, and interrogated. While the salient reaction conditions for the process optimization include the degree of ionization of reacting medium, available photogenerated electrons, reactor ambience, type of semiconductors, surface area of semiconductor, hole scavengers, quantum efficiency, and competing reactions, the relevant process variables are photocatalyst dosage, initial Cr(VI) concentration, interfering ion, and organic load. In addition, the practicability of photoreduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) was explored according to the potential for photocatalyst recovery, reactivation, and reuse reaction conditions and the process variables.

Abstract
Bi5O7I/g-C3N4 p-n junctioned photocatalysts were synthesized by alcohol-heating and calcination in air. The structures, morphologies and optical properties of as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Photocatalytic activity of the heterojunctioned composites were evaluated by degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) under visible light illumination. The results indicated that the composites exhibited superior efficiencies for photodegradation of RhB and TCH in comparison with pure BiOI, Bi5O7I and g-C3N4. An effective built-in electric field was formed by the interface between p-type Bi5O7I and n-type g-C3N4, which promoted the efficient separation of photoinduced electron-hole pairs. In addition, 8% Bi5O7I/g-C3N4 composite showed excellent photostability in a five-cycle photocatalytic experiment. Experiments on scavenging active intermediates revealed the roles of active species.

Abstract
Structural dimensionality and surface morphology are key properties that greatly affect the functionalities of materials. Herein, we report a synthesis of dimensionally coupled ternary nanocomposites from three-dimensional (3D) bismuth oxyiodide (BiOI), two-dimensional (2D) graphene oxide (GO), and one-dimensional (1D) bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) nanomaterials for tetracycline degradation under visible-light irradiation. The 2%-Bi2S3@1%-GO/BiOI ternary nanocomposites show higher degradation efficiency than neat 3D-BiOI. The coupling of neat 1D-Bi2S3 with the 1%-GO/BiOI binary nanocomposite does not increase the specific surface area of the resulting 2%-Bi2S3@1%-GO/3D-BiOI ternary nanocomposite, but enhances notably its charge carrier separation and migration, according to the analysis of the higher photocurrent, smaller arc radius of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and lower photoluminescence intensity. The observed results suggest that the combination of dimensionally coupled composites provides a synergistic effect through an efficient charge transfer process. This work offers new insights into the design and construction of dimensionally coupled ternary nanocomposites for environmental remediation applications.

Abstract
A new composite magnetic photocatalyst, Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄, prepared by a hydrothermal-roasting method was studied. The photocatalytic properties of Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ were evaluated by degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under simulated sunlight irradiation, and the structures and properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet-visible light (UV-Vis) diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The results indicated that Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ was an orthorhombic crystal, which was similar to that observed for Bi₅O₇I. Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ consisted of irregularly shaped nanosheets that were 40⁻60 nm thick. The most probable pore size was 24.1 nm and the specific surface area was 7.07 m²/g. Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ could absorb both ultraviolet and visible light, and the energy gap value was 3.22 eV. The saturation magnetization, coercivity and residual magnetization of Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ were 3.9 emu/g, 126.6 Oe, and 0.7 emu/g respectively, which could help Bi₅O₇I/MnxZn1-xFe₂O₄ be separated and recycled from wastewater under the action of an external magnetic field. The recycling experiments revealed that the average recovery rate of the photocatalyst was 90.1%, and the photocatalytic activity was still more than 81.1% after five cycles.
