Abstract
Early diagnosis of cervicitis is important. Previous studies have found that neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) play pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory roles in many diseases, suggesting that they may be involved in the inflammation of the uterine cervix and NETs-related genes may serve as biomarkers of cervicitis. However, what NETs-related genes are associated with cervicitis remains to be determined. Transcriptome analysis was performed using samples of exfoliated cervical cells from 15 patients with cervicitis and 15 patients without cervicitis as the control group. First, the intersection of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and neutrophil extracellular trap-related genes (NETRGs) were taken to obtain genes, followed by functional enrichment analysis. We obtained hub genes through two machine learning algorithms. We then performed Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and nomogram construction, confusion matrix, receiver operating characteristic (ROC), gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), and immune cell infiltration analysis. Moreover, we constructed ceRNA network, mRNA-transcription factor (TF) network, and hub genes-drug network. We obtained 19 intersecting genes by intersecting 1398 DEGs and 136 NETRGs. 5 hub genes were obtained through 2 machine learning algorithms, namely PKM, ATG7, CTSG, RIPK3, and ENO1. Confusion matrix and ROC curve evaluation ANN model showed high accuracy and stability. A nomogram containing the 5 hub genes was established to assess the disease rate in patients. The correlation analysis revealed that the expression of ATG7 was synergistic with RIPK3. The GSEA showed that most of the hub genes were related to ECM receptor interactions. It was predicted that the ceRNA network contained 2 hub genes, 3 targeted miRNAs, and 27 targeted lnRNAs, and that 5 mRNAs were regulated by 28 TFs. In addition, 36 small molecule drugs that target hub genes may improve the treatment of cervicitis. In this study, five hub genes (PKM, ATG7, CTSG, RIPK3, ENO1) provided new directions for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cervicitis.

Abstract
In this paper we approach three clinical syndromes with different microbial agents that cause sexually transmitted diseases (STD) with a common condition: the symptomatology is in the genital area. Some of these microbial agents are transmitted strictly sexually, but not all. In this section we will discuss about vulvovaginitis, genital ulcers and human papilloma virus, three syndromes which have increased their incidence in recent years and primary care must know its management: diagnosis, correct treatment, controls, and study of sexual contacts. The optimal approach is as important as knowing how to recommend prevention of STD, contact study and screening for other infections that can be present at the same time although asymptomatically.

Abstract
Cervical lesions can be caused by pathogens, hormonal changes or by cervical injury. The recommended treatment in all cases is excision. Local re-epithelialization therapy should be initiated preoperatively and postoperatively. The present study assessed the post-market performance and tolerability of Cerviron® ovules in the treatment and management of cervical lesions postoperatively. The study population included 345 participants aged 20-70 years with either a cervical lesion under treatment or with recent surgical removal of a cervical lesion. The degree of re-epithelialization of the cervical mucosa was improved in 73.17% of the patients evaluated during routine colposcopy exams and 92.73% of patients recorded no bleeding. When adding Cerviron® either as monotherapy or in association with other antimicrobials in postoperative care of the cervical ectropion, improved postoperative outcomes such as reduced post-interventional bleeding and a superior quality of healing were observed. Abstract
Many diverse pathogens have been discovered from reproductive-tract infections, but the relationship between the presence and abundance of particular pathogen species and disease manifestations is poorly defined. The present work examined the association of multiple common pathogens causing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) with cervicitis and vaginitis. The presence and abundance of 15 STI pathogens and the genotypes of human papillomavirus were determined in a cohort of 944 women that included 159 cervicitis patients, 207 vaginitis patients, and 578 healthy controls. Logistic regression and random forest models were constructed and validated in a separate cohort of 420 women comprising 52 cervicitis patients, 109 vaginitis patients, and 259 healthy controls. The frequency of individual STI pathogen species varied among the symptomatic patients and healthy controls. Abundance determination was necessary for most pathogens that were associated with the studied diseases. STI pathogens were more commonly associated with cervicitis than with vaginitis. Pathogen identification- and quantification-based diagnosis was observed for cervicitis with high sensitivity and specificity, but for vaginitis, the assay results would need to be combined with results of other diagnostic tests to firmly establish the pathogen-disease correlation. Integrated qualitative and quantitative detection of a selected panel of common STI pathogens can reveal their association with cervicitis and vaginitis. STI pathogen identification and quantification can be used to diagnose cervicitis and also help improve correct diagnosis of vaginitis. IMPORTANCE Scarce information exists with regard to whether STI pathogens can be defined as valid microbiological predictive markers for the diagnosis of cervicitis and vaginitis. We therefore conducted this study to assess the presence and abundance of a wide range of STI pathogens among patients having these two diseases and healthy controls as well. High sensitivity and specificity were observed for cervicitis by pathogen identification- and quantification-based diagnosis. In contrast, the assay results obtained for vaginitis would need to be combined with test results obtained by other diagnostic methods to decisively establish the pathogen-disease correlation. Simultaneous qualitative and quantitative detection of a selected panel of common STI pathogens and further coupling with machine learning models is worthwhile for establishing pathogen-based diagnosis of gynecological inflammations, which could be of great value in guiding the rational use of antimicrobials to control the spread of STIs.

Abstract
A higher incidence of female infertility has been reported with an unexpectedly early appearance in recent years. The female infertility treatment and application of assisted reproductive technology have recently gained immense interest from scientists. Many studies have discussed the beneficial effects of acupuncture on female infertility. With advancements in science and medical technology, acupuncture-related research has increased in investigating its effectiveness in treating female infertility. This review focuses on a compilation of research in recent years on acupuncture for female infertility treatment and the exploration of the underlying mechanism. For this purpose, literature was searched using various search engines like PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The search was refined by only focusing on recent studies on acupuncture effectiveness and mechanism in female infertility and evaluating pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
Background Considering the changing causative and resistance pattern of agents implicated in sexually transmitted infections (STIs), etiological diagnosis is imperative, especially in countries practicing syndromic management. This study was designed to identify etiological agents associated with cervicitis and to analyze their association with clinical and behavioral profile. Materials and Methods Female STI clinic attendees presenting with cervico-vaginal discharge were examined for the presence of cervicitis. Endocervical swabs were collected for gram staining and real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed for various bacterial and viral STI agents in patients presenting with cervical discharge. A vaginal swab was also evaluated for bacterial vaginosis by Nugent's criteria. Results Of 64 patients with vaginal discharge, 26.6% and 12.5% patients complained of genital itching and lower abdominal pain, respectively. Mean of 36.6 pus cells/hpf were observed, appreciably greater number in patients with Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis infections (P = 0.0063 and 0.0032, respectively). Pus cells were high (mean 68 pus cells/hpf) in patients with Ureaplasma urealyticum, though this may be attributed to coexisting N. gonorrhoeae. Agents isolated from endocervix were N. gonorrhoeae, 17 (26.6%), Trichomonas vaginalis, 4 (6.3%), HSV1 and C. trachomatis, 1 each (1.6%), HSV2, 9 (14.1%), U. urealyticum 5 (7.8%), Ureaplasma parvum 26 (40.6%), Mycoplasma genitalium (0%), and Mycoplasma hominis 11 (17.2%). Bacterial vaginosis was diagnosed in 14 (21.9%) patients. Multiple agents were isolated in 10 (two), 6 (three), 6 (four), and 1 (five) patients. Isolation of M. hominis and U. parvum was significantly associated with bacterial vaginosis (P = 0.04 and 0.003, respectively). Nonusage of condoms and mental stress predisposed to cervicitis. Conclusion We concluded that there are changing etiological patterns of cervicitis. There is need to use tests that detect wider array of organisms, and can replace standard culture methods with molecular assays, to increase the ability to diagnose more number of organisms implicated in cervicitis.

Abstract
Female genital tract chronic inflammation is common in clinics; the pathogenesis is not fully understood yet. House dust mite (HDM) involves the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases in human. This study aims to identify HDM-specific allergic response in the cervix of patients with cervical inflammation. Patients (n = 80) with chronic cervicitis (CC) and non-CC control (NC) subjects (n = 80) were recruited into this study. Vaginal lavage fluids (VLF) were collected from CC patients and NC subjects. Cellular components and fluid part of VLF were separated by centrifugation, and analyzed by flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. We found that a portion (52 out of 80) of CC patients responded to HDM, manifesting positive skin prick test, and HDM-specific IgE and IgG was detected in the VLF (designated CCp patients). VLF of CCp patients showed a Th2-dominant profile. HDM-specific Th2 cells were detected in VLF in CCp patients. Exposure to HDM in the culture induced proinflammatory cytokine release from CCp VLF CD4+ T cells. Exposure to CCp VLF CD4+ T cell-conditioned medium induced de novo Th2 response. Direct exposure to HDM induced allergic response in the cervix of CCp patients. In summary, a portion of CC patients respond to HDM challenge in the cervix. Exposure to HDM induces an allergy-like response in the cervix of CCp patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim: To obtain the first estimates of the current prevalence of healthcare-associated cervicitis (HACs) and antimicrobial resistance of responsible pathogens in Ukraine. PATIENTS AND METHODS Materials and methods: We conducted a retrospective multicentre cohort study was based on surveillance data from January 1st, 2019 to December 31st, 2021 in Ukraine. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion test according to the protocol of the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing. RESULTS Results: Of the 6,885 participants in this study, 1746 women (25.5%) met the clinical definition of cervicitis. Prevalence of HACs and cervcits caused sexually transmitted pathogens were 12.7% and 8.3%, respectively. The incidence of HACs among women with a history of gynecological procedures was 25.4%. The main causes of HACs were legal induced abortions (28.8%), vaginal hysterectomy (23.9%), and postpartum instrumental examination (12.8%). The predominant pathogens of HACs were: Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus faecalis. Methicillin-resistance was observed in 20.8% of S. aureus (MRSA). Vancomycin resistance was observed in 7.4% of isolated enterococci (VRE). Resistance to third-generation cephalosporins was observed in 13.1% Klebsiella spp. and E.coli 17.5% isolates. Carbapenem resistance was identified in 11.6% of P.aeruginosa isolates. The prevalence of ESBL production among E. coli isolates was significantly higher than in K. pneumoniae (33.5%, vs 8.7%). The overall proportion of extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) production among Enterobacteriaceae was 34.6%. CONCLUSION Conclusions: This study showed that the prevalence of healthcare-associated cervicitis in Ukraine is high, and many cases were caused by antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

Abstract
Background Oils in traditional medicine are important products and used routinely for therapeutic purposes. Rose oil (Rosa damascene Mill), a product of Persian medicine, is advised for the treatment of Infectious diseases related to the female genitourinary tract. In the present study, R. damascena petal oil, aqueous, and hydroalcoholic extracts were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial and anti-Trichomonas vaginalis effects. Methods Anti-trichomonas activity evaluation of extracts and oil were assayed by the Homocytometery method. Their antibacterial effects against Escherichia coli, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and clinically isolated Group B Streptococcus were assayed by broth microdilution in 96-well plates. Results The MIC of hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts ranged from 25-50 and 25-100 mg/ml, respectively. Rose oil at all administered doses failed to show any antibacterial activity. Conclusion All extracts and oil concentrations showed some degree of growth inhibition activity on T. vaginalis; however, hydroalcoholic extract was more efficient.

Abstract
Luohuazizhu suppository is a Traditional Chinese Medicine used in clinic to treat cervicitis, which is prepared from Callicarpa nudiflora Hook. et Arn (C. nudiflora), an herbal Chinese medicine named Luohuazizhu. This study aimed to figure out the active constituents of C. nudiflora and the potential mechanism for its anti-cervicitis effect. The ethanol extract in C. nudiflora (CNE) and the different fractions of CNE extracted by petroleum ether (CNE-p), dichloromethane (CNE-d), and n-butanol (CNE-b) were tested in vivo for their anti-cervicitis effects. Then the isolated compounds from the CNE-p were tested in vitro for their anti-inflammatory activities. The results displayed that CNE-p, CNE-d, and CNE-b exhibited adequate anti-cervicitis effects, with CNE-p showing the highest efficacy. Further experiment demonstrated that CNE-p could significantly inhibit the expression of NLRP3 in vitro. Six diterpenoids obtained from the CNE-p showed the ability to regulate inflammatory factor levels in vitro. Among these compounds, compounds 1 (callicarpic acid A) and 2 (syn-3,4-seco-12S-hydroxy-15,16-epoxy-4(18),8(17),3(16),14(15)-labdatetraen-3-oic acid) were the most effective agents, and they also inhibited the expression level of NLRP3 in vitro. The results confirmed that C. nudiflora has significant anti-cervicitis effects and the diterpenoids were most likely to be its active components. These data provide scientific support for the clinic usage of Luohuazizhu suppository and the development of new agents in treating cervicitis.
